Concludes that finding elephant fossils "on the Ohio" makes it look "as if the earth had anciently been in another position, and the climates differently placed from what they are at present."

This British tank model is made from porcelain. It is likely made to be a model of the British Mark I tank. It features the coat of arms of Inverness, Scotland. The coat of arms is a red shield with a depiction of Jesus on a yellow cross. Above the shield is a cornucopia. On either side of the shield are a camel and an elephant. Underneath the shield on a yellow scroll is written, "CONCORDIA ET FIDELITAS," which roughly translates to harmony and faithfulness. Below the coat of arms the city name "INVERNESS" is written in black text. The hatch of the tank bears the words, "MODEL OF 'BRITISH TANK'" in black lettering. The tank is gilded around the edges. On the bottom of the tank is the manufacturer's mark and name, a crown with the name "CLIFTON CHINA," underneath which is written "W.H. & S.J." Handwritten below this is the number "102." There is also a regulation number written, "REG NO 653588."

This badge is made of white metal and was worn by the Other Ranks of the Highland Light Infantry. It depicts the star of the Order of the Thistle (a St. Andrew's Cross with rays between the arms), underneath a royal crown. Superimposed on the cross is the regiment's monogram "HLI" within the image of a bugle horn. Below the bugle horn is a scroll that says, "Assaye" and the Highland Light Infantry's mascot, an elephant (both likely commemorate the regiment's actions at the Battle of Assay in 1803). During World War I, Highland Light Infantry battalions fought both on the Western Front and in the Mesopotamian/Iraqi campaign.

This handmade, highly polished carving shows an elephant clothed in a very ornate blanket and headcovering. This carving may be intended to represent a royal mount from the Elephant Festival, held each spring in Jaipur. The Jataka stories of Buddhism refer to the tradition of Hastimangala (the Elephant Festival). A royal mount from time immemorial, the elephant has also been a symbol of strength and wealth. For the Rajput kings, elephants were of special significance, not only during war but also during royal festivities. Nishan-ka-hathi, the flag carrier, led processions. The king always mounted a caparisoned elephant. Special hunting programs and elephant fights were organized to entertain royal guests. Jaipur was a favorite with the important personalities of the British Raj, and the Maharajas always arranged for their guests of honor to ride elephants up to the Amber palace. Even today, the mahouts take tourists up to the Amber Palace on elephant back.
