Origen’s Gospel commentaries belong to an ancient commentary genre involving literature on pagan, Jewish, and Christian texts. His are the first texts of commentaries on the Gospels that we possess. He wrote commentaries on the Gospels of John, Matthew, and Luke. Portions of those on John and Matthew survive. Each book of the Commentary on John begins with a prologue, as was customary in commentary literature; there are no prologues with the books on the Gospel of Matthew. Origen’s prologues treat many themes discussed in the pagan commentary literature such as the reason for the title, and the skopos of the work. In his exposition of the text he works from the assumption that the literal wording contains a hidden spiritual meaning which must be excavated by various techniques including paying attention to the sequence in the text and applying anagogical interpretations. The theological perspectives of Paul and John were guiding lights in Origen’s interpretation of the Gospels. His overarching goal in the commentaries was to reveal and interpret the Logos of God who “emptied himself” and became flesh in Jesus of Nazareth.

Plasma gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) was suggested to reflect the level of systemic oxidative stress. Oxidative stress induces changes in arterial structure and function and contributes to the development of hypertension. Therefore, GGT may be associated with arterial remodeling and blood pressure (BP) increment, even in absence of disease. To test this hypothesis, we evaluated, in 825 healthy subjects at low cardiometabolic risk, the associations of plasma GGT with carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT), luminal diameter and prehypertension; in 154 subjects was evaluated also the association with aortic stiffness (cfPWV). Associations were controlled for insulin sensitivity, C-reactive protein, and life-style habits. In the main population, BP was remeasured after 3 years. Carotid diameter and cfPWV, but not IMT, were directly and independently related to plasma GGT. Subjects with prehypertension (N = 330) had higher GGT as compared with subjects with normal BP (22 [14] vs 17 [11] IU/L; adjusted P = 0.001), and within prehypertensive subjects, those who developed hypertension during 3 years had higher GGT than those without incident hypertension (27 [16] vs 21 [14] IU/L; adjusted P < 0.05). In the present article the authors propose to modernize relationship therapy by integrating novel sensor and actuator technologies that can help optimize people’s thermoregulation, especially in social contexts. Specifically, they propose to integrate Social Thermoregulation Theory (IJzerman et al., 2015a; IJzerman & Hogerzeil, 2017) into Emotionally Focused Therapy. As such, the authors suggest to craft a Social Thermoregulation (the pleisiomorphic reliance of relationships on temperature regulation) type therapy to further improve relationship therapy. The authors outline what is known and not known in terms of social thermoregulatory mechanisms, what kind of data collection and analyses are necessary to better understand social thermoregulatory mechanisms, and stress the need to conduct Randomized Clinical Trials prior to implementation. They further warn against too hastily applying these theoretical perspectives.
