This study examines the editorial endogeny of Library and Information Science jour-nals. The endogeny was determined by the analysis of (1) papers published by the journal’s editors, (2) papers published by the journal’s country of origin, and (3) jour-nal self-citation. The study used five-year coverage based on journals listed in the Web of Science. Regarding the editorial endogeny, the cut-off line of 50% of publi-cations was at 4.51%. However, some journals have concentrated this endogeny from 20% to 45%. The endogenous model developed with the three analyses generated a journal efficiency system that showed a moderate index by the quartile of the jour-nals, with an average of four endogenous papers per journal. 50% of the publications obtained an average of 10.70% self-citations. But part of the 50% most endogenous journals obtained indices ranging from 11% to 75.99%, with ten journals over 30%. 50% of papers are from the journal’s country of origin. We conclude that the levels of endogeny were balanced on average, but some journals abused it to improve their ranking and impact.

The purpose of the article is to conduct a comprehensive, objective and critical analysis of the results of research on open access in Ukraine to assess the current state of the topic and identify the aspects which require deeper study in order to develop an effective mechanism for implementing the principles of open access in practice. Research methods. The method of narrative literature review with a defined search strategy and criteria for selecting publications in four databases, such as Dimensions, Scopus, Web of Science and the depository of electronic copies “Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine” was used. The inclusion criteria were articles published by authors affiliated with Ukrainian institutions. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the literature analysis helped to expand and deepen knowledge about the thematic areas of open access research in Ukraine; to identify previously unknown links and contradictions between studies; and to identify areas that require further studies, which include, in particular, the analysis of factors and barriers that facilitate or prevent Ukrainian authors from disseminating their works in open access, the dynamics of growth and peculiarities of the distribution of the share of open access publications by year and field of study. Conclusions. Open access is one of the main components of Open Science. It serves as a tool for accelerating knowledge sharing, developing science, helping to eliminate inequality, and helping to solve several global problems. The research of Ukrainian scientists focuses on four primary areas of open access research: the development of open access policies at the level of institutions and the state, the introduction of institutional repositories, the launch of open access journals, and the regulation of copyright in open scientific communication.

The evaluation of scientific journals poses challenges owing to the existence of various impact measures. This is because journal ranking is a multidimensional construct that may not be assessed effectively using a single metric such as an impact factor. A few studies have proposed an ensemble of metrics to prevent the bias induced by an individual metric. In this study, a multi-metric journal ranking method based on the standardized average index (SA index) was adopted to develop an extended standardized average index (ESA index). The ESA index utilizes six metrics: the CiteScore, Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP), SCImago Journal Rank (SJR), Hirsh index (H-index), Eigenfactor Score, and Journal Impact Factor from three well-known databases (Scopus, SCImago Journal & Country Rank, and Web of Science). Experiments were conducted in two computer science subject areas: (1) artificial intelligence and (2) computer vision and pattern recognition. Comparing the results of the multi-metric-based journal ranking system with the SA index, it was demonstrated that the multi-metric ESA index exhibited high correlation with all other indicators and significantly outperformed the SA index. To further evaluate the performance of the model and determine the aggregate impact of bibliometric indices with the ESA index, we employed unsupervised machine learning techniques such as clustering coupled with principal component analysis (PCA) and t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE). These techniques were utilized to measure the clustering impact of various bibliometric indicators on both the complete set of bibliometric features and the reduced set of features. Furthermore, the results of the ESA index were compared with those of other ranking systems, including the internationally recognized Scopus, SJR, and HEC Journal Recognition System (HJRS) used in Pakistan. These comparisons demonstrated that the multi-metric-based ESA index can serve as a valuable reference for publishers, journal editors, researchers, policymakers, librarians, and practitioners in journal selection, decision making, and professional assessment.

Introduction: Scholarly communication in social sciences and humanities has developed through monographic publications. In recent decades, electronic books have become prominent for communication in these areas. Objective: Given the importance of creating a more democratic science and the consolidation and advances of open access presented in recent times, this research identifies the current state of scientific knowledge on the production, distribution, and use of open access electronic books in the social sciences and humanities. Methodology: Based on a qualitative methodological approach, the study used the systematic literature review (SLR) method with the library and information science abstracts (LISA) and the Scopus databases, which has international recognition within the areas of information science, social sciences and humanities. Results: Forty two articles that discussed the analyzed themes were verified based on the defined SLR protocols and StArt tool. Conclusions: It was concluded that the social sciences and humanities area has been using open access digital books in its research, and academic libraries and university press are the main actors in their distribution. Moreover, some technological, social, economic obstacles persist in the use and production of studies on the subject owing to its reduced importance compared to research on open access journals in various other areas of knowledge.

Objective: By publishing books on various topics, publishers can increase the richness of their publishing collection. Among the types of publishers, children's and youth book publishers, considering the importance of this era, play a significant role in nurturing and developing the imagination of children and youth and satisfying their sense of curiosity by publishing books in various fields. The purpose of this study is to determine the policy of publishers in selecting the subject of printed books for children and young adults and their subject analysis based on Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) in 1981-2021. Methods: It is an applied research, which has been done by a mixed approach, that is the combination of two sets of quantitative and qualitative approaches. In the quantitative approach for the thematic analysis of adolescents, books based on the Dewey Decimal Classification in the period of 1358-1394, a library study method has been used. To study the Subject selecting policy for publishing, of child and adolescent books by publishers, rising from a data approach grounded theory has been used. For the thematic analyze of children and adolescents' books, the list of printed cataloging sheets of the published books of publishers in the National Library and Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents were studied. In addition, in order to study the publisher's subject selecting policy, Semi-structured interviews with 12 publishers were conducted together with qualitive textual data analyzing three stages of coding. The results of the topic analysis of children and adolescents' books were analyzed quantitively by using Excel software. Results: The results of this research showed that during the period of 1981-2021, the published books in category 890 (category of Persian literature) were the most frequent ones. By reviewing the content of the books, it was revealed that social and religious subjects have been a favored by publishers and subjects in scientific, ethics, education, psychology and reference books were less favored by publishers for publishing. Moreover, the community's choices and favorite subjects were always considered by publishers. The result of the research showed that the factors, that is, subject selection, policy and planning, subject trends, interaction and communication, and attitudes and views points of publishers were effective in choosing the subjects by publishers. Conclusion: The findings of the study illustrates the status of the publication of children and adolescents' books on various topics over the past three decades. By identifying the factors influencing the publication of children and adolescent books, it helps publishers, while recognizing these factors as well as challenges and limitations, to take steps to improve the status of children and adolescent book publishing and subject variety. The results of the study can help the government and publishers to support the publication of the book for children and adolescents by drawing the status of the publication of the book for children and adolescents and the factors affecting it.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), established in 2009 as an international research University in Saudi Arabia, has adopted the first Open Access mandate for scientific publications in the region and leads with a well-established research repository managed and promoted by the University Library. Having several scientific poster events annually at the campus, with hosting supported by the Library, printed posters have remained static, highly localized and short-lived. These characteristics are at odds with what is often the first formal communication of scientific research and, as such would be of great interest to other researchers. Addressing these limitations was a major motivator behind the trialing of an ePoster alternative at KAUST. This project was conceived, piloted and will be implemented and managed by the University Library, in collaboration with IT Services. In addition to digitally capturing research content for display and preservation, ePoster functionality changes the engagement dynamics whilst helping to bridge the gap between academia and professional practice. ePosters have been extensively embraced by international professional organizations, however, academic institutions remain bound to printed posters. This project identified a short-list of possible companies that responded to criteria identified by KAUST as requirements for its campus wide ePoster management system. The evaluation process included student and researcher participation, as well as webinars and demonstrations and culminated with site visits to the company headquarters of the two finalists. The preferred supplier was then involved with several pilot conferences at KAUST to demonstrate their system’s capabilities and, as importantly, to expose academic staff to ePosters in operational settings. Surveys were conducted of conference participants, academic staff, students and conference organizers to obtain feedback and reaction to this approach. Advantages were both obvious and embraced by respondents; they appreciated the functionality which included ongoing editing and/or updating of content by authors, the ability of organizers to monitor progress of submissions and control content display and statistics being available via a dashboard. ePoster presentations engage the audience better; they are more interactive, dynamic and informative as a result of incorporating high resolution images and videos (with associated zoom capabilities) and audio. In addition, the elimination of print and poster mounting aligns with KAUST commitment to environmental stewardship and open access to scientific output through a direct upload of content to the Research Repository. Interest in ePosters is expanding; this has seen the Library involved in associated skills training and outreach. Academia is notably behind this practitioner-driven trend. KAUST Library believes that, by rolling out an ePoster system to the University, it is the first campus in the world to offer this as a campus-wide solution, truly reflecting a digital smart campus vision of KAUST.

Communication (formal/informal) is the key for making society attentive and advance scholarly communication (SC) worldwide openly. Components of SC (accumulation, creation, evaluation, publication, dissemination and preservation) are cycling towards elevation of education, research and innovation. Stakeholders have critical role in managing the SC cycle. In this study, SWOT analysis is used to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of SC and its components emphasizing the internal and external ecosystem. Based the SWOT analysis, the stakeholders potentials, resources, drawbacks, advantages, risks etc. are drawn in order to make strategic decisions to manage system effectively. Results revealed that accumulation of resource infrastructure facilitations brings an idea into creativity, reviewed it for quality, originality and publication (stamp of validity) that was disseminated through various media & modes and preserved for longevity. Imperatively, the SC carries authenticity and recognition globally. It also shown that an inactive infrastructure, mentorship and policies often indulge scientific creativity through misconduct and biased decisions of reviewing make futile or fake publication that will always spoiling the system. Taking opportunities to create and access resource repositories, helping to publish research to innovation monetize into products marketing globally with cloud safe and security. Finally, handicap of intellectual infrastructure vacuum (brain-drain) pressures the academia to leap into predatory journals crediting no transparency and accountability.

In the ‘normal’ world of retail and commerce you pay for an item and receive the item. In the world of academic journals you prepay for the item and you might receive the item and you might get some money back depending on what journals you did or didn’t receive. In the world of offset pricing you prepay, then you pay again, you sometimes use vouchers, you might get a discount (the following year) then you might get money back, or you might not. Are publishers knowingly placing barriers to off-set models, and not transparently offsetting the APCs to the subscription cost, in order to raise more income? Whether by design or accident it is a complex world which needs a time commitment, which not all librarians can give, to understand fully. The new model of scholarly communication, which leading universities (including KAUST) want to introduce, is based on shifting the subscription costs to publishing costs, not to double the payment channels to the publishers. Can we get to a mutually beneficial position where the author can deposit the accepted version of the article into the Institutional Repository without any embargo period as the institute is agreeing to pay the subscription fee on an ongoing basis? The required model does not adversely affect the vendors’ revenue. This presentation, based on KAUST’’s experience to date, will attempt to explain the different models of offset pricing while outlining KAUST’s dual approach, redirecting subscription money to publishing money and embedding open access terms in understandable language in our license agreements, to the problem. Why we have accepted IoP’s offset offer and not Springer’s, though we were considered among the first timers and important Institutions? Why is this important? Resolving the inherent complexities in offsetting models will save libraries money and also time wasted on tedious and unnecessary administration work. Researchers do not want to know about offsetting agreements nor should they need to know. It is difficult enough to do and write up valuable research without having to do further research on offset pricing models. The authors of the articles without whom, as academic librarians or publishers, we would be redundant are often the neglected link in the chain. Finally, the Institutional Repository needs to know what we are up to. The current answer to many queries is that “it depends on the publisher,” isn’t good enough. There has to be a standard model. What is needed overall is clarity and transparency. This will enable trust and, where mistakes are made, and there inevitable will be with untried models, we can learn from these mistakes and make better, more robust services with auto deposition of our articles to our repository fed by Publishers’ themselves . If libraries can organize as groups at regional or (with more difficulty) international level more favorable licensing agreements, including standardized offset pricing model language, can be leveraged which will be advantageous to all parties; publishers, libraries and, most importantly, authors. It is incumbent that we familiarize ourselves with the pricing models, in all their complexity, and strive through collective organization to have these models simplified and standardized. Let’s turn that subscription money into publishing money.

In the digitalizing world, there are transformations in all areas from lifestyles, ways of doing business, education methods and ways of providing information. The data generated by the digitalization of public transactions are created and / or integrated in various data pools in various regions of the world with the view that they can contribute to research processes. On the other hand, it is known that libraries, archives and museums have developed joint ventures and developed joint projects in order to achieve more productive results in research processes by integrating their data on the same platform. In this study, firstly the reasons of the mentioned joint ventures are explained and examples are given. Finally, after the transformation and the reflection of the transformations observed in the archives to the services are examined with the digitalization, evaluations are made about the digital services developed by the national archiving institutions in the world and their features. In the course of this study, information is given about the status of common platforms developed under the leadership of memory institutions and their reflections on research processes. After assessed the status of ongoing archive services in Turkey, the mentioned services are being made to include proposals for improving the integration of national and international platforms.

Social Media Live Streaming (SMLS) includes the set of social media that allow to play live videos in different formats. These technologies, from the perspective of the broadcast, offer the opportunity to make decisions instantly based on the feedback returned by their followers. This concept can only be understood since the launch of Periscope in 2015, whose fast growth has transformed it into a great ally for digital journalism. The continued use of the platform –highlighted as "app of the year" by Apple– justifies the projection of the Digital News Project, prepared by the Reuters Institute of Oxford University, which aims that this 2017 will be the “Year of Live and Social Video” for journalism. Through a case study (transmissions of Efecto Cocuyo during the Venezuelan National Consultation), the following paper analyzes Periscope as an SMLS, with the aim of understanding its role within the innovation and trends for a digital journalism that wishes to improve its reach every day towards audiences with increasing connection speeds, and consuming mostly online videos.

In this presentation, I will argue that the “serials crisis” and the subsequent need for library publishing are best understood not by focusing on the singular actions of individuals or publishers, but through an analysis of neoliberalism—the nation’s predominant economic ideology. In a discourse of critique, I will analyze scholarly journal publishing using the following major elements of neoliberalism: the primacy of the “free market,” privatization, deregulation, and using individualism to justify cuts to social services and to discredit notions of the public good. Critics argue that neoliberalism, a set of political and economic policies that have become widespread over the past 35 years, is a pernicious system that disproportionately benefits a small number of major corporate shareholders. Its effects, which include widening inequality and being prone to crises, are masked by the public’s ignorance, historical amnesia, propaganda, indifference, and austerity. In a discourse of possibility, I will discuss the transformative potential of library-publishers creating and participating in cooperatives. Library publishing can attain greater sustainability and impact through a more robust system of state and regional partnerships based on two major types of cooperatives: worker cooperatives, where the creators of goods and services collectively decide the fate of their work, and purchasing cooperatives, where members mutually benefit by acquiring in solidarity with each other. Cooperative economics is increasingly seen as a viable alternative to neoliberalism, and there are successful stories across the globe. Additionally, the transition by several Latin American nations away from neoliberalism by democratizing their economics and emphasizing the public good and cooperation will be explored. Attendees will be able to contextualize the so-called serials crisis with greater clarity, advocate for library publishing more compellingly, identify more impactful solutions, and have an increased sense of individual and collective agency.

The Internet has transformed scholarly publishing and made the availability of online resources possible, both in subscription and open access models. Open access, has enabled wider access to the scholarly literature, thus reducing the digital divide among the haves and have-nots. In the case of journal articles, even though its ‘Gold’ (author pays model) and ‘Green’ access models have risen to the occasion, but some publishers of journals have turned its ‘Gold’ model to their advantage to earn a profit by charging fees for publication and adopting certain unethical practices of publishing. An effort has been made here to explore what is ‘Predatory’ open access journals publishing, why this kind of publishing is flourishing and how this model works.

The paper deals with the influence of the “Internet of Things” and its opportunities for the publishing business model. It offers a contribution for scientific research in media management to establish the relevance of data-centric business models. The aim of the paper is to work out the increasing relevance of data for the publishing business model. Potentials under the influence of the “Internet of Things” for the publishing business model with regard to four dimensions of business models are worked out: Value creation, value proposition, earnings mechanics and customers. These dimensions show the opportunities that publishers can exploit by integrating intelligent everyday objects as a content channel. Additionally, the author points out that publishing houses operate in a data-centric environment with the integration of intelligent everyday objects as a content channel. The data-centered publishing business model is analysed on the basis of features, in particular with regard to its potential.

Historically, reciprocal exchange systems have always existed in all kinds of societies and domains of community life. With the advent of the information age, these systems have been transformed into new forms of production of digital goods and services, which due to their characteristics today constitute part of the social fabric that links many people within social networks and virtual communities. In the case of electronic books, various reading and publishing projects on the Internet have been present thanks to the use of open standards for electronic publication, such as the called ePub format, which allows people from different latitudes to share and socialize eBooks, with a quality edition and layout similar to those of any bookstore established on the Internet, such as Amazon, Casa del Libro, Kobo, among others. Therefore, the present work aims to show the potential of electronic reading and publishing in community that develops within the ePublibre: más libros, más libres website, which can be seen as an alternative of free reading.

How much does scientific production cost? This is a question that could be answered from multiple perspectives, e.g. from the economic one to assess the tangible and intangible inputs that result in a scientific product. From the perspective of those who are in search of scientific information the cost would lie in the availability of the scientific product at the exact moment in which it is required to sustain or debate an idea. Both perspectives lead us to understand that the value of production does not lie on a standard measure, the other way around. It is clear to us that intellectual and monetary investment is independent and distinct between different areas of knowledge, in other words, each scientific product requires different inputs, so, producing a patent is completely different than producing a national survey.

The film and audiovisual sectors play a crucial role in the European societies, and by extension, also in Portugal. This paper proposes a conceptual change centered on mapping the film and audiovisual (AV) industries in Portugal as a creative sector instead of a cultural one. We argue that this approach enables a more rigorous measurement of the value of these industries in the creative economy, besides allowing for more accessible connections between the creative industries and other areas. This conceptual change is based on an innovative approach to the “creative trident.” We argue that the value of the film and AV sector must be rooted in a flourishing creative workforce, and we propose that entrepreneurship education can be a path forward in unlocking the sector’s tremendous creative potential. We suggest an innovative research agenda to link all these elements in the context of the audiovisual and film creative industries.

Objective. To analyze levels of production, reach, and thematic development of the Investigación y Educación en Enfermería journal from a scientometric analysis. Methods. The study collected 1,066 articles corresponding to the period between 1983 and 2020. The scientometric analysis was carried out from three components of descriptive analysis: performance of the publication, geographic reach, and thematic development. The first two used data consolidated from articles published in the Open Journal System at Universidad de Antioquia. The third component captured the bibliographic references from the Web of Science and Scopus databases and from the Google Scholar and Lens academic search engines. Results. In terms of the production analysis, the Journal shows stable behavior sustained over time with international reach regarding authorship. In the thematic setting, the Journal concentrates on two large clusters: 1) research on human factors from different perspectives and 2) cross-sectional studies differentiated mainly by sex. With respect to emerging clusters, on one side, a thematic pillar is seen with studies in young adult population and another in matters related to the educational process and nursing students. Conclusion. The Journal has maintained outstanding behavior in terms of production over time, aligned with very good visibility for potential authors internationally; something not easily accomplished for most journals in Colombia. Likewise, its production has had a thematic domain to a greater extent related to human factors associated with the nursing practice.

How do you make the most of your limited library budget when journal subscription costs are soaring? Although adding open access (OA) journals is one solution, identifying and evaluating what is available can be incredibly challenging. I have identified more than a hundred open access Catholic journals; these are journals of religion and/or theology published by Catholic institutions and/or containing primarily Catholic content. I will break the journals down by language, geography, subject, etc., and highlight some of the better and more interesting titles. Catholics might not be leaders in open access journal publishing, but they are making a real impact.

In the changing landscape of scientific research and scholarly communication, importance of “quality in research”, “reviewed research” and “reviewed publications” in qualifying for the ratings and rankings are widely discussed. While publishing the research pieces in peer-reviewed and highly ranked journals are increasingly important, there are different methods and tools to be in place at Institutional level to increase researchers’ profile and the ranking of the institutions. As a young research based university created in 2009, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) focuses on the bibliometrics and altemetrics tools, author affiliations, author naming and plug-ins to different search engines, research evaluation systems as well as to research repositories. The University has launched an institutional repository in September 2012 as a home for the intellectual outputs of KAUST researchers, and then adopted the first institutional open access mandate in the Arab region effective June 31, 2014. Integration with ORCID became a key element in this process and the best way to ensure data quality for researcher’s scientific contributions systematically. We will present the inclusion and creation of ORCID identifiers in the existing systems as an institutional member to ORCID, and the creation of dedicated integration tools with Current Research Information System (CRIS) as a standardized common resource to monitor KAUST research outputs. We will also present our experiences in awareness programs, trainings, outreach, implementation of systems and tools like PlumX, as well as our approach in improving the research impact and profiling our Institution’s research to the world.

Open Science aims to provide open access to all items produced within the research process, primarily to text publications, research data and research software. Moreover, Open Science should also bring transparency in moderating processes (such as the assessment and the review of text publications or data) and the production and utilizations of para-informations (as impact metrics). Open Science proponents describe it as a efficient, innovation-friendly and transparent science because open information can be disseminated, reused and re-analyzed more quickly and easily than closed information. The work is based on a multidisciplinary inventory of Open Access to text publications, Open Access to research data, Open Access to research software, Open Review and Open Metrics, all more typically in the STM subjects (Science, Technology, Medicine) to find than in the social sciences or humanities. Based on this synopsis the work is dedicated to the specifics of sociology, which is commonly regarded as a latecomer in the Open Science. It empirically investigates the prevalence and relevance of Open Science, Open Access to text publications, Open Access to research data, Open Access to research software, Open Review and Open Metrics in Sociology.

Researchers, scholars and scientists main business is scholarly communication. We communicate about our work to others, as we push the boundaries of what we know and the society knows. We question established notions and truths about science. We share our findings with others, and in a way that is popularly known as scholarly communication which emerged with the publication of first journal in 1665. However, the term gained popularity only in the 1970s, as access to peer reviewed and scholarly communication became difficult. This module has four units covering introduction to scholarly communication, peer reviewed journals, electronica journals and databases and the Serials Crisis. At the end of this module, the learner is expected to be able to: - Explain philosophy, mission, and objectives of scholarly communication - Describe the process of scholarly communication - Identify different channels of scholarly communication - Discuss the dysfunction of the scholarly communication. In Unit 1, Introduction to scholarly communication, we have discussed different aspects of scholarly communication – particularly its genesis, importance and ethics of academic publishing, and different communication channels available in academic publishing. Some of these channels are commonly described as primary sources as they provide first-hand testimony or direct evidence concerning a topic under investigation. Historically, scientific journals were initiated by learned societies and other scholarly communities for reporting results of concluded research works or scientific discoveries. Now many for-profit publishers have started publishing research journals. Unit 2, Communicating with Peer Review Journals, covers two important academic publishing channels, namely peer reviewed journals, conferences and their proceedings. This Unit also highlights different methods and procedures of peer reviewing for publishing primary literature emanated from research studies. The peer reviewing is essential for validating quality of research findings conveyed by researchers, which are subject to fulfillment of ethical standards and appropriate research design, sampling and other methodological issues. In Unit 3, Electronic journals and databases, we have discussed the emergence of electronic journals in academic and research environment due to wide proliferation of information and communication technologies (ICT) in research communications and academic publishing. Scientific communities and scientific communications from the global South are getting substantive attentions through adaptation of electronic journals and electronic academic databases in the process of research communications. In Unit 4, the Serials Crisis, we discuss the cost of peer reviewed publications and the problems faced by researchers in developing countries. The focus of this unit is on highlighting the problems and discusses possible solutions including the emergence of open access as one of the solutions. Open access journal publishing helps in mitigating some of the problems associated with serials crisis.

Progress of every profession, academic discipline and society at large rides on the back of research and development. Research generates new information and knowledge. It is a standardized process of identifying problem, collecting data or evidence, tabulating data and its analysis, drawing inference and establishing new facts in the form of information. Information has its life cycle: conception, generation, communication, evaluation and validation, use, impact and lastly a fuel for new ideas. Research results are published in journals, conference proceedings, monographs, dissertations, reports, and now the web provides many a new forum for its communication. Since their origin in the 17th century, the journals have remained very popular and important channels for dissemination of new ideas and research. Journals have become inseparable organ of scholarship and research communication, and are a huge and wide industry. Their proliferation (with high mortality rate), high cost of production, cumbersome distribution, waiting time for authors to get published, and then more time in getting listed in indexing services, increasing subscription rates, and lastly archiving of back volumes have led to a serious problem known as "Serials Crisis". The ICT, especially the internet and the WWW, descended from the cyber space to solve all these problems over night in the new avatar of e-journals. Their inherent features and versatility have made them immensely popular. Then in the beginning of the 21st century emerged the Open Access (OA) movement with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). Philosophy of open access is to provide free of charge and unhindered access to research and its publications without copyright restrictions. The movement got support from great scientists, educationists, publishers, research institutions, professional associations and library organizations. The other OA declarations at Berlin and Bethesda put it on strong footings. Its philosophy is: research funded by tax payers should be available free of charge to tax payers. Research being a public good should be available to all irrespective of their paying capacity. The OA has many forms of access and usage varying from total freedom from paying any charges, full permission to copy, download, print, distribute, archive, translate and even change format to its usage with varying restrictions. In the beginning, OA publications were doubted for their authenticity and quality: established authors and researchers shied away both from contributing to and citing from OA literature. But Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, 1997) and its code of conduct formulated in collaboration with DOAJ and OASPA, etc. have stemmed the rot. They have defined best practices and compiled principles of transparency for quality control to sift the grain from the chaff; to keep the fraudulent at bay. Now it is accepted that contributors to OA get increased visibility, global presence, increased accessibility, increased collaboration, increased impact both in citations and applications, and lastly instant feedback, comments and critical reflections. This movement has got roots due to its systematic advocacy campaign. Since 2008 every year 21-27 October is celebrated as the OA week throughout the world. There are many organizations which advocate OA through social media and provide guidance for others. Open Access research literature has not only made new ideas easy and quick to disseminate, but the impact of research can be quantitatively gauged by various bibliometric, scientometric and webometric methods such as h-index, i-10 index, etc. to measure the scientific productivity, its flow, speed and lastly its concrete influence on individuals, and on the progress of a discipline. The OA movement is gaining momentum every day, thanks to technology, organizational efforts for quality control and its measureable impact on productivity and further research. It needs to be strengthened with participation of every researcher, scientist, educationist and librarian. This module covers five units, covering these issues. At the end of this module, you are expected to be able to: - Define scholarly communication and open access, and promote and differentiate between the various forms of Open Access; - Explain issues related to rights management, incl. copyright, copy-left, authors' rights and related intellectual property rights; - Demonstrate the impact of Open Access within a scholarly communication environment.

This is the last Module of the course on Open Access for researchers. So far you have studied about Open Access, its history, advantages, initiatives, copyrights and licensing, evaluation matrix for research – all in the context of scholarly communication. In this Module with just two units, we would like to help you share your work in Open Access though repositories and journals. At the end of this module, you are expected to be able to: - Understand the publication process involved in dissemination of scholarly works; - Choose appropriate Open Access journals and repositories for sharing research results; - Use social media to promote personal research work and build reputation. In Unit 1, we discuss the research publication process at five stages – planning stage, preparing stage, pre-publication stage, publication stage and postpublication stage. We emphasize the importance of social media in sharing and making your work visible to the target groups. In Unit 2, we focus on sharing your research through OA repositories and Journals. First we discussed the different types of repositories to select and highlighted the steps that you may consider including deposit in your own institutional repositories or in global open repositories. We then discuss the sources of finding and deciding on OA journals. This unit also provides guidance on choosing the right OA journals, as the quality of OA journals is often questioned.

The Covid-19 pandemic affected social and sports dynamics worldwide, forcing all sports clubs, leagues and/or federations to reinvent themselves in their training processes to avoid loss of sports performance, adapting their training to the conditions that were held at home with the support of the coaches remotely. The objective of the study was to identify the effects of the pandemic on the sports performance of athletes from the Colombian Triathlon Federation (FCT) during the pre-confinement period and post gradual return to normality. The comparative descriptive methodology, longitudinal in nature, allowed us to identify the average of the results of each of the tests in the Minor categories, Junior, Elite and Sub-23 in women and men in the check-ups scheduled by the FCT during the year 2020 in face-to-face and 2021 remotely; the instruments used were the swimming tests (200, 400 and 800 meters) and the running tests (1000, 1500 and 3000 meters). The results showed that the Covid-19 pandemic affected the sports performance of some categories, while in others there were no significant changes in the average loss of sports performance. In conclusion, the difficulties in accessing the scenarios, the little face-to-face interaction with the coach, and the quality of the technological tools generate deep tensions in the remote training processes from home.

Biblical and missionary societies began to distribute Protestant Bibles and texts in Spain on a regular basis in the 1830s, through agents. One of the most important of these agents was James Graydon. He operated in Barcelona, where he published the Nou Testament in Catalan (1836) and the Biblia (1837) in Spanish. Both works were printed at the workshop of Antonio Bergnes de las Casas, in addition to other polemic and apologetic Protestant, which the colporteur distributed throughout the Mediterranean coast. Bergnes’ network of agents and the role played by press advertising were essential for the distribution of these Protestant works. They were met by a notable response from Catholics, in newspapers and in anti-Protestant texts, which deepened the debate on religious freedom and the freedom of worship.

This article investigates how the public management of the national universities seals operate in the publishing market, taking as an axis of analysis the marketing of books through a collective stand of the Red de Editoriales de Universidades Nacionales (REUN) of the Consejo Interuniversitario National (CIN) within the framework of the Buenos Aires International Book Fair. The period covered is 2014-2019. For publishers, this event means the possibility of meeting a massive and concentrated audience in a short time. Being part of this annual fair is an opportunity to disseminate and sell catalog titles, considering that, most of them do not have university bookstores or stands. Specifically, it analyzes how they position themselves among them, which are the books in the catalogs, how they guide the purchasing trends in the fairs, through areas and genres study, and considering the topics and preponderance that co-editions and translations have in the public choices.
