Purpose: To realize a systematic review with prospective meta-analysis aiming to compare the accuracy of static fully guided implant placement depending on the drill key modality (conventional drill key surgery systems vs newer keyless systems) and evaluate the impact of deviation factors. Materials and Methods: An electronic systematic search was conducted to identify prospective clinical trials matching inclusion criteria. The variables of interest were coronal global, apical, vertical, and angular deviations. The types of edentulism and surgical guide support were investigated as deviation factors. Meta-regression (mixed-effect model) was performed. Heterogeneity was assessed using Cochrane's I² test and interpretation thresholds. Results: A total of 1,233 implants in 475 patients were analyzed (18 studies included). Coronal global deviation was significantly lower in the keyless group than in the key group (-0.36 mm; 95% CI -0.62, -0.09; P = .008). Angulation control of the keyless system was superior to that of the key system (-0.36 degrees; 95% CI -0.75, 0.02; P = .063). Nonsignificant differences were found between both groups in apical (P = .684) and vertical deviations (P = .958). Significant influence of the type of edentulism (single, partial, total) and surgical guide support (tooth, mucosa, bone) on the overall amount of coronal global, apical, and angular deviations was found (P < .001). The lowest deviations were found in partial edentulism and tooth-supported surgical guide groups. (P < .001). Conclusions: Keyless static fully guided surgical systems allowed significantly better control of coronal and angular deviations than conventional systems. This study represents the first comprehensive qualitative systematic review on sport coaches' and teachers' perceptions and application of Game-Based Approaches (GBA) and Constraints-Led Approach (CLA). From searching 12 electronic academic databases from 1982 to 2020, 29 studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the meta-study. Data revealed studies were conducted in several different countries, and case study design was the predominant methodology. The main data collection method reported was cross-sectional interviews. There were inconsistencies in the quality of reporting methodologies, sampling procedures, data analysis, and assessing quality. The meta-theory analysis identified weaknesses in the methodological and conceptual approaches, and a low number of studies stated philosophical perspectives. The meta-synthesis identified assumptions about learning, pedagogical knowledge and skills, content knowledge, and support as the overarching themes reported to impact coaches' and teachers' perceptions and application of GBAs and CLA. Purpose: To identify the most effective protocol for bonding denture bases and artificial teeth made with different computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials (milled and 3D-printed) and conventional heat-polymerized resins. Materials and Methods: This review was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) criteria and registered in the International Prospective Registry of Systematic Reviews PROSPERO (CRD42021276084). An electronic search was performed independently by two examiners in PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, and OpenGrey databases for articles published up to and including December 2021. Results: The electronic search returned 806 articles, and after duplicates were removed, 589 articles remained. Four articles met the eligibility criteria to be included in this study. After evaluating the different combinations of denture base materials and artificial teeth, it was found that IvoBase CAD Bond (Ivoclar Vivadent) was effective for bonding CAD/CAM denture bases to prefabricated acrylic resin teeth, which showed no differences compared to the heat-polymerized resin denture base bonded to prefabricated acrylic resin teeth (2: 68.56; I2: 96%; P < .001). Conclusions: The IvoBase CAD Bond bonding system can be used for the fabrication of CAD/CAM denture bases with prefabricated acrylic resin teeth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To identify and map the scientific evidence regarding factors associated with the nonadaptation of completely edentulous patients to mandibular complete dentures. Materials and Methods: This scoping review followed the PRISMA-ScR statement for Scoping Reviews and was based on guidelines proposed by Arksey and O'Malley and the Joanna Briggs Institute Manual for Evidence Synthesis. The methodology was registered on the Open Science Framework. An electronic search strategy was conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Virtual Health Library, ClinicalTrials.gov, Google Scholar, and ProQuest databases was conducted. Studies that evaluated factors associated with adaptation to and acceptance of mandibular complete dentures were included, such as sociodemographic, psychologic, patient-related, and denture-related items. Results: The search conducted in March 2022 yielded 9,978 studies. In total, 24 studies were included for data extraction. Sociodemographic factors did not interfere with adaptation to a mandibular complete denture. Psychologic factors and patient-related aspects showed greater association with nonadaptation to mandibular complete dentures than denturereported factors. Conclusion: Although it is suggestive that psychologic and patient-related factors have higher association with the acceptance of new dentures, data must be interpreted with caution due to the variability of methodologies of the studies included in this review. ABSTRACT Background Aims Methods Results Conclusions The number of adults aged over 60 years with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is increasing. Frailty, rather than chronological age, may be a better predictor of adverse health outcomes.To summarise current knowledge about frailty in adults with IBD including the prevalence and associations of frailty and IBD‐related adverse outcomes.We performed an electronic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE and EMBASE Classic databases using search terms for IBD and frailty from inception to 14 February 2024. All studies involving adults aged ≥ 16 with a confirmed diagnosis of IBD that included a frailty assessment were eligible for inclusion.We included 23 observational studies involving 1,893,448 adults. Risk of bias was low for 18 studies and moderate for five. Twelve methods of frailty assessment were used, the most common being the Hospital Frailty Risk Score. Pooled prevalence of frailty in IBD patients was 18% (95% confidence interval (CI) 12.4%–25.6%). Meta‐analysis of unadjusted events data demonstrated that frailty increased the risk of infection‐related admissions following treatment in two studies (relative risk (RR) 1.9; 95% CI 1.2–3.0), post‐operative morbidity in three (RR 2.0; 95% CI 1.4–2.7) and mortality in seven (RR 4.3; 95% CI 2.6–7.4).Frailty is common in patients with IBD and is associated with IBD‐related adverse outcomes including infection‐related admissions following treatment, post‐operative morbidity and death. Adequacy and safety are the twin prerogatives of the blood transfusion service which in turn is an indispensable component of public health delivery; however, many Caribbean countries have inadequate blood supply for the current and projected demands of their health care systems. Understanding blood donor motivators and barriers is crucial to improving the rate of voluntary non‐remunerated blood donation (VNRD) to meet World Health Organisation (WHO) targets. The objective of this study was to review current research on the landscape of blood donation practices and attitudes in the Caribbean. We undertook a systematic search of electronic databases through September 2023 to identify studies of blood donation practices, knowledge and attitudes, including motivators and barriers to donation in the English‐speaking Caribbean. We identified eight (8) relevant studies of observational study design. VNRD remain relatively uncommon; family replacement or remunerated donations were most common. Barriers to blood donation included lack of a known recipient such as a family member who needed blood, never having been asked to donate, presumed ineligibility to donate, and fear of needles or adverse reactions. Study participants indicated willingness to donate blood if provided more information about the importance of blood donation. There is a paucity of published research regarding blood donor knowledge, motivators and barriers in the Caribbean context. Objectives Methods Results Conclusions Self‐compassion is a positive psychological factor linked to improved physical and psychological outcomes across different chronic illness populations. However, the extent to which self‐compassion contributes to reduced distress across different conditions or as a function of participant factors is not clear. The current meta‐analysis aimed to quantify the association between self‐compassion and psychological distress in different chronic illness populations and evaluate the factors that moderate this association.A systematic search of three electronic databases identified research reporting associations between self‐compassion and psychological distress in chronic illness. A random effects meta‐analysis was conducted to evaluate the association between self‐compassion and psychological distress. Moderator analyses were conducted for sample characteristics and distress types. A bespoke tool evaluated study quality.Searches yielded 51 eligible studies with 57 effect sizes. Meta‐analysis revealed that self‐compassion was negatively associated with psychological distress (r = −.516; 95% CIs [−.55, −.48]; p = .000). Moderator analyses were significant for distress type and chronic illness group, with effects being largest for stress and neurological conditions. Effects did not vary by sex, age or illness duration.Findings from this first comprehensive investigation of the link between self‐compassion and distress in chronic illness highlight the protective role of self‐compassion for chronic illness populations. These results lay the foundation for further research into understanding the processes that link self‐compassion to lower psychological distress, and that examine the effectiveness of self‐compassion interventions in chronic illness populations, to further advance knowledge and inform practice in this area. Purpose Methods Results Conclusion Study Design Level of Evidence Previous studies have reported on the outcomes of autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) versus matrix‐induced ACI (MACI) and microfracture. Specific clinical outcomes of ACI, MACI, osteochondral autograft transplantation (OAT) and osteochondral allograft (OCA) have not been well studied. The purpose of this systematic review and meta‐analysis was to analyze the outcomes of these regenerative surgical techniques with an emphasis on comparing their effectiveness using the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective score, the Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale, the Tegner Activity Scale and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score for the surgical treatment of tibiofemoral joint cartilage defects.An electronic search of MEDLINE, Embase and Cochrane Library was performed to identify studies that reported clinical outcomes for ACI, MACI, OAT and OCA procedures. The literature review was conducted following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses guidelines and only studies involving cartilage defects in the tibiofemoral joint were included. Outcomes were measured with the IKDC evaluation, Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale, Tegner Activity Scale and the VAS. Outcomes were compared to the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) and patient acceptable symptom state (PASS). The methodological quality of the included studies was analyzed by the Methodological Index for Nonrandomized Studies and the Jadad scale.Forty‐seven studies were included representing a total of 1993 patients with a mean follow‐up time of 57.2 ± 40.3 months (range: 4.0–160.0 months). The location of cartilage defects was reported in 46 studies, with a total of 1922 cartilage defects. There were 1277 medial femoral condyle cartilage defects, 488 lateral femoral condyle cartilage defects, 139 unspecified femoral condyle cartilage defects and 18 tibial plateau cartilage defects. All four procedures reported significant improvements in the Lysholm, IKDC, Tegner and VAS scores with no significant differences between them. The OAT technique surpassed the PASS threshold for the IKDC score while all four techniques surpassed the PASS threshold for Tegner and Lysholm scores. Additionally, all procedures met the MCID for each clinical outcome.This systematic review and meta‐analysis indicate that ACI, MACI, OAT and OCA all result in significant improvements in knee function and pain for cartilage defects of the tibiofemoral joint. Performing endodontic treatment on a tooth with an immature apex can be challenging due to the risk of irrigant extrusion beyond the apex. This narrative review investigates the over-apex extrusion of activated irrigants in teeth with open and immature apices and aims to provide crucial insights for practice and research. Two hundred fifty-two results were found from the electronic search. Sixteen duplicates were removed before selection, and 24 were excluded. Of the 212 remaining results, the full text was evaluated for eligibility. One hundred ninety-four results were excluded: in one hundred sixty-five, irrigant activation was not performed; twenty-nine were animal studies; in seven, irrigant activation was not performed to disinfect the canal. Finally, 13 studies were included. They cover a range of topics, from the types of irrigants used to the techniques of activation, and their findings contribute to our understanding of the risks and consequences of irrigant extrusion. All the activation techniques investigated can, to varying degrees, cause the irrigant to extrude beyond the apex. Extrusion may not always be clinically relevant; however, the consequences of excessive irrigant leakage from the apex are dangerous, so try to assess all the variables that may cause it and adopt techniques to reduce it. There are only a few clinical trials which address the treatment of acute urticaria (AU). Especially, the added value of systemic corticosteroids to antihistamines is unclear in treatment of severe AU. To review the existing evidence‐based approaches for AU treatment. A systematic electronic search was done in PubMed and Web of Science to retrieve all studies on the treatment of patients with AU. A descriptive synthesis was conducted based on the PRISMA statement. Quality assessment was independently performed by both reviewers ('Cochrane risk‐of‐bias tool' for RCTs). Ten randomized controlled trials (RCTs) (n = 857 participants) were included. Four studies assessed corticosteroid effectiveness added to antihistamines and six studies compared the efficacy of H1 and/ or H2‐antihistamines. The addition of corticosteroid (prednisone) to an antihistamine (levo)cetirizine did not improve symptoms of AU compared to antihistamine alone in two out of three RCTs. The combination of diphenhydramine (50 mg, IV) and ranitidine (50 mg, IV) or cimetidine (300 mg, IV) was most efficient for relief of urticaria in two out of five studies. Most frequent adverse effects were sedation and drowsiness. Recent guidelines on urticaria treatment mainly focus on chronic urticaria rather than on AU. Moreover, only few, small RCTs provide evidence for the management of AU. Thus, the state‐of‐the‐art management of this frequent condition remains unclear. The addition of corticosteroids to an antihistamine as treatment for AU needs to be further investigated. The increasing incidence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has led to a gradual increase in MASLD-related hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC). In this context, we aimed to investigate the association between modifiable factors and the risk of incident HCC in patients with MASLD. Two authors independently searched electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library) from their inception to April 1, 2023. Observational studies reporting an association between modifiable risk factors and MASLD-related HCC were eligible for inclusion. The effect size on the study outcomes was calculated using a random-effects model and was presented as a risk ratio with 95% confidence interval. A total of 31 studies covering 1.02 million individuals were included. Regarding lifestyle factors, smoking and alcohol consumption were associated with 30% (1.30 [1.08-1.57]) and 140% (2.41 [1.03-5.65]) risk increase of MASLD-related HCC. Regarding metabolic risk factors, patients with MASLD who were overweight or obese (1.31 [1.13-1.52]), had diabetes (2.08 [1.71-2.53]) and hypertension (1.42 [1.12-1.80]) had a higher risk of developing HCC, while dyslipidemia was negatively associated with MASLD-HCC (0.78 [0.65-0.93]). The use of metformin, statin, and aspirin was associated with 18% (0.82 [0.68-0.98]), 55% (0.45 [0.36-0.56]), and 36% (0.64 [0.44-0.92]) risk reduction in incident HCC, respectively. This comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis showed statistically significant increases in the risk of incident HCC inpatients with MASLD due to smoking, alcohol use, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, whereas metformin, statin, and aspirin therapy might modify disease progression. Purpose: Ectopic pregnancies with implantation in the upper abdomen are exceptionally rare. Here we provide a systematic review of hepatic ectopic pregnancies and the corresponding management strategies. Furthermore, this report details a case of ectopic hepatic pregnancy, successfully treated with primary methotrexate (MTX) followed by a two-staged robotic-assisted resection. Methods: Two independent investigators performed a systematic review using the online search engine PubMed and MEDLINE database. The search utilized the following terms: 'Hepatic Ectopic Pregnancy,' 'Hepatic Extrauterine Pregnancy,' 'Hepatic Abdominal Pregnancy,' and 'Ectopic Liver Pregnancy.' Cross-referencing was employed to identify possible additional publications. Findings: Forty-seven case reports on hepatic pregnancies were identified. Of these, 40 provided manuscripts in the English language. Most patients with hepatic pregnancy presented with mild to moderate abdominal pain, while only a minority exhibited signs of hemodynamically relevant intraperitoneal hemorrhage. Most cases were managed through open surgical removal, although in recent years, there has been an increase in laparoscopically managed cases. Conservative approaches using methotrexate are seldom employed. Conclusion: Hepatic pregnancies present a rare and challenging clinical scenario. Until now, these cases have usually been treated primarily with open explorative surgery. As reported in this case, primary conservative treatment approaches with MTX before surgery hold promise as a strategy to reduce surgery-related bleeding and morbidity, particularly for asymptomatic or oligosymptomatic patients. Background: This systematic review and meta‐analysis aim to synthesize the available evidence and determine the overall brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in individuals diagnosed with perinatal depression (PND). Methods: We performed a thorough search of electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, and Web of Science, from their start until April 30, 2023. Our search strategy involved using specific keywords and medical subject headings (MeSH) terms related to BDNF, perinatal, post‐partum, and antepartum depression. In the meta‐analysis, we employed a random‐effects model, and subgroup analyses were conducted to investigate any variations in the results. Results: A total of 15 studies met the inclusion criteria, of which 10 were used in the quantitative analysis. The meta‐analysis demonstrated a significant decrease in BDNF levels in both individuals with antepartum depression (SMD: –0.31; 95% CI: −0.48 to −0.13; p‐value = 0.0008; I2 = 71%), and post‐partum depression (SMD: –0.61; 95% CI: −0.99 to −0.22; p‐value = 0.0002 I2 = 77%). Furthermore, a significantly higher rate of PND among individuals in the lowest BDNF quartile (OR: 2.64; 95% CI: 1.01 to 6.89; p‐value = 0.05; I2 = 90%) was seen. The results of subgroup analyses showed a statistically significant effect of the depression assessment tool on overall heterogeneity between studies. Conclusion: This systematic review and meta‐analysis provide evidence of lower BDNF protein levels in individuals diagnosed with PND. The results indicate that BDNF dysregulation may play a part in the development of PND. Background: The availability of information regarding neuropsychological tests threatens their confidentiality. This concern may be particularly relevant to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) considering its widespread online coverage. The present study explored simulators' online search strategies. Method: Simulators (n = 39) searched for information before undergoing an evaluation which included performing a continuous performance test (CPT). Their search strategies were analyzed, and their performance was compared to that of ADHD patients (n = 36) and healthy controls (n = 38). Results: Most simulators reached high-risk websites that provided written and video-based information regarding the test. Sixty percent, comprised mostly of 3rd-year students, reached Google Scholar. These students were also easier to detect as simulators. Common strategies included performing the CPT in accordance with typical ADHD symptoms and avoiding the endorsement of both unusual and stereotypical symptoms. Conclusion: Simulators can access online information that contains key test data. Higher education may increase the ability to reach academic research while decreasing the ability to convincingly feign impairment. While additional research is needed to examine coaching effects on neuropsychological testing, the risk to test security that many websites pose should be acknowledged and steps, including ones taken by test publishers, should be undertaken to minimize it. Purpose: This study examines the temporal dynamics shaping our understanding of search in education and the role language plays in legitimising these dynamics. It critiques the way online search is discursively constructed using home-education as a case study, and problematises how particular discourses are privileged, whom this privileging serves, as well as the likely consequences. Design/methodology/approach: The study employs Faircloughian Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as its methodological framework. Search and discursive practices were recorded during observations, search-tasks and interviews with five Australian home-educating families. Discursive features from the Google interface were also analysed. Findings: A discursive privileging of hasty search practices was identified. This was found alongside largely ineffectual search, but participants continued to discursively represent search as fast and easy. The study highlights the complex co-option of discourses surrounding online search that privilege particular temporal and commercial landscapes. Originality/value: This study contributes new knowledge regarding time as a context for understanding search behaviours, locating the perception of temporal scarcity in education within broader discursive and social structures. To date, no studies are found which investigate the temporal factors surrounding search in home-education. Increasing global reliance upon online search means the findings have broad significance, as does the proliferation of home-education induced by COVID-19. Additionally, while much work problematises the power search engines wield to privilege certain discourses, few investigate the day-to-day discursive practices of searchers affording Google and others this power. Objective: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the influence of maintaining apical patency (AP) in endodontic treatment outcome. Methodology: An electronic database search was performed in PubMed, Cochrane Library, LIVIVO, LILACS, and EBSCO host from inception till July 2024. The data from the included articles were extracted and the quality was assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration tool and ROBINS-I tool. Results: Five articles were included for the qualitative synthesis, and all the included articles were determined to have a low risk of bias. Maintaining the AP resulted in two-fold increase in the healing outcome with long-term follow-up. Conclusion: It can be concluded from this systematic review that maintaining AP is likely to enhance the endodontic treatment outcome. However, more long-term clinical studies are required to further evaluate the possible influence of AP. The Maternal Death Surveillance and Response (MDSR) system is designed to continuously identify and review all maternal deaths. It aims to help countries understand the scale and distribution of maternal deaths, identify their causes, and inform corrective measures to address the challenge. Despite the growing adoption of the MDSR by numerous low- or middle-income countries, its implementation faces various challenges, including legal ones. This scoping review was conducted to map legal issues and challenges that arise during the implementation of the MDSR. It adapted the Bain and Kongnyuy framework, categorizing legal issues into data, people, use of findings, and legal regulation. Literature was retrieved from seven databases, complemented by additional online searches. We included studies published in English between 2010 and November 2022 that report on legal issues arising during the implementation of MDSR. Out of 1174 studies screened, 31 were selected for review. The review highlighted the limited attention given to the legal dimension of the MDSR by the research community. It also documented the lack of adequate legal framework essential for the system's effective implementation. Inadequate safeguards for informational privacy and the lack of confidentiality reinforce a prevalent sense of being blamed, mainly among health workers. Consequently, widespread under-reporting and intentional misattribution of causes of maternal death, defensive referrals, and disengagement from the MDSR process were reported. We recommend that implementing countries regulate the gathering and use of MDSR data through appropriate laws and legally ensure that the MDSR data are only used for the intended purpose. Appropriate complaint-handling mechanisms are needed in health systems to prevent the misuse of the MDSR. Future studies on MDSR implementation would benefit from involving legal experts, considering the multifaceted legal dimensions of the MDSR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Metoclopramide, a prokinetic antiemetic with activity at multiple receptor types, may be a useful treatment for renal colic pain. This review investigated whether metoclopramide is an effective analgesic in the management of adults with renal colic. Eligible studies were randomised, quasi-randomised or case-control trials of metoclopramide for the management renal colic pain. Electronic database searches were performed in November 2022. Screening was performed by two authors independently; disagreement was resolved by discussion or by adjudication by a third author. The Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool v2.0 was used to assess bias. Two studies were included, enrolling 279 patients. Heterogeneity of primary outcome measurement and comparators rendered meta-analysis inappropriate; a narrative review is presented. Both studies showed some evidence of analgesic effect. The largest study had a low risk of bias in all assessed domains, whilst the smaller study was at a high risk of bias. There is limited evidence that metoclopramide may be an effective analgesic in the management of renal colic, with the highest quality study demonstrating analgesic properties similar to an intravenous non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. This study develops a comprehensive framework based on the theory of consumer engagement marketing. It examines the role of brand-initiated social media marketing (SMM) efforts—specifically entertainment, customisation, interactivity, and trendiness—in encouraging consumers to voluntarily contribute on social media platforms. These contributions are reflected in consumer-to-brand and consumer-to-consumer interactions, which, in turn, influence consumer engagement and online search behaviour. A theoretical model was developed and tested using survey data from 388 consumers experienced in visiting smartphone brand pages in Egypt. The data was analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Findings indicate that SMM elements such as entertainment, customisation, and interactivity significantly drive consumer-to-consumer and consumer-to-brand interactions, which subsequently lead to increased consumer engagement and online search behaviour. Notably, consumer engagement behaviour fully mediates the impact of consumer-to-consumer interaction on online search behaviour. Accurate prior information of passenger flow demand on high‐speed railway is of great significance for the operation and the management of transportation systems. Various factors in modern social life have caused uncertainty at demand. Recently, individuals are increasingly depending on the online search results when choosing among different transportation modes, services, and destinations, which provide important basic information for forecasting the travel demand. This study employs Baidu search index to assist in capturing volatility of high‐speed railway passenger demands, offering insights into the travel inclinations and travelers' actions. Furthermore, we have given more in‐depth attention and analysis to their residual term accounting for the random nature caused by various factors. To this end, a sophisticated deep analysis mechanism based on data decomposition has been devised to extract and analyze the valuable information concealed within the residuals, so as to enhance the comprehension of the variability inherent in the high‐speed railway passenger flow. Meanwhile, an error correction strategy is implemented for all residual terms to improve further their forecasting accuracy. After the launch of Google Scholar older papers experienced an increase in their citations, a finding consistent with a reduction in search costs and introduction of ranking algorithms. I employ this observation to examine how recombination of science takes place in the era of online search platforms. The findings show that as papers become more discoverable, their knowledge is diffused beyond their own broad field. Results are mixed when examining knowledge diffusion within the same field. The results contribute to the ongoing debate of narrowing of science. The eligibility criteria of this systematic review used the PICO framework to address the following research question: “In dentate adults requiring an increase in occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) (P), is an evaluation period of the new OVD (I) superior to no evaluation period (C) in terms of success (O)?” Study characteristics, survival, and success rates were extracted from each article. No language restrictions were applied. Study quality was appraised using Cochrane's Risk of Bias 2 tool and Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS) according to the study design.The electronic search yielded 1188 titles after duplicates were removed. One RCT and 103 non‐comparative articles were found relevant to the search question. Out of the 103 articles, 80 had an evaluation phase and 23 did not. The included RCT revealed that removable devices tended to cause chewing difficulties, unclear speech, and esthetic discomfort. Therefore, the use of a removable appliance to functionally or esthetically evaluate OVD was not indicated prior to the definitive treatment. Esthetics was the highest reported parameter preoperatively for the non‐comparative studies, at 85% with an evaluation and 86% without.At present, there is lack of evidence that an evaluation period improves clinical and patient‐reported outcomes when increasing OVD for full mouth rehabilitations. The feeding upon large animals—even larger than the predator—by benthic cnidarians has been reported from many ecosystems but never exhaustively studied to date. By reviewing 38 papers on this topic, this review aims to recap the observations on the predatory behaviour of polyps, to establish feeding plasticity boundaries and to understand the contribute of this trophic strategy to the benthic–pelagic coupling. The reviewed documents published increasingly during the last two decades mostly reported observations on heterotrophic Anthozoa in shallow ecosystems collected through photo/video records. The main prey items are represented by gelatinous zooplankton and echinoderms. The lexical discordance in the considered papers highlights the need to standardize the terminology to describe the feeding behaviour of benthic Cnidaria, opportunistic and characterized by a strong plasticity. Given the importance of large prey in cnidarian trophism, we proposed an unambiguous terminology that will help the online search of literature and address future studies. We suggest identifying micro-predation (predator/prey size ratio ≥ 5:1) and macro-predation (predator/prey size ratio is ≤ 1:1) as distinct feeding modalities, because the capture of large prey involves peculiar movements of polyps, such as stretching and retracting of column and tentacles to pull the prey towards the mouth. Introduction: Studies examining the role of Emotion Regulation (ER) do not consistently explain the underlying model or theory they are employing, resulting in a conflation of different strategies and goals within the ER scientific literature. This study aims to conduct a systematic review and conceptual analysis of the primary strategies and goals advocated in the ER models, theories, and frameworks. Furthermore, we explored the distinctions between the prevailing contemporary ER models and classical conceptions of emotional dynamics, such as those proposed by Aristotle, Descartes, and Darwin. Methods: An electronic search was conducted in the Web of Science, Medline, and Scopus databases in November 2023. The key search terms used were grouped into two different topics: Emotion Regulation and Models/Theories/ Frameworks. Articles were included if they reported one or more ER model in healthy individuals or emotionally disordered individuals and if they were published in a peer-reviewed journal in English in the last 5 years (from 2019 to 2023). A total of two reviewers independently assessed the titles, abstracts, and full texts. Models identified were summarized and classified based on the different ER strategies and goals. Results: Of the 1,012 titles for initial consideration, 139 articles met the full eligibility criteria and were included for data extraction and synthesis. The review identified 10 ER models, and the most commonly used were the Process Model of Emotion Regulation and the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation. There was a great deal of homogeneity among the proposed ER strategies and goals: the cognitive dimension is the core of ER strategy, and the ER goals are primarily hedonic or instrumental in nature. Discussion: Both Descartes and Darwin views were present in the ER models; however, some of the most significant contributions in Aristotelian proposal seem to be forgotten, such as the integration of the physical, operational, and growth dimensions (eudaimonic goals). Objective: Esthetic dentistry is an important factor in increasing patients' quality of life. This study aimed to investigate the impact of laser use on bleaching procedures for natural teeth and dental restorative materials. Methods: In January 2024, an electronic search was conducted using PubMed, Web of Science (WoS), and Scopus databases with the keywords (tooth) AND (laser) AND (bleaching), following PRISMA guidelines and the PICO framework. The initial search yielded 852 articles, of which 441 were screened. After applying inclusion criteria, 376 articles were excluded as they did not focus on the use of lasers in bleaching natural teeth and restorative materials. Consequently, 40 articles were included in the final review. Results: Of the 40 qualified publications, 29 utilized a diode laser, of which 10 authors concluded that it increases the whitening effect comparing classical methods. Three of included publications investigated the whitening of dental materials, while another three focused on endodontically treated teeth. Whitening procedures on ceramics effectively removed discoloration, but the resulting color did not significantly differ from the initial shade. Conversely, composite materials not only failed to bleach but also exhibited altered physical properties, thereby increasing their susceptibility to further discoloration. The KTP laser demonstrated promising outcomes on specific stains. The Er,Cr:YSGG and Er:YAG lasers also showed beneficial effects, although there were variations in their efficacy and required activation times. Conclusions: The findings partially indicate that laser-assisted bleaching improves the whitening of natural teeth. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is an essential operation for patients who have severe coronary artery disease (CAD). Both open and minimally invasive CABG methods are used to treat CAD. This in-depth review looks at the latest research on the effectiveness of open versus minimally invasive CABG. The goal is to develop evidence-based guidelines that will improve surgical outcomes. This systematic review used databases such as PubMed, MEDLINE, and Web of Science for a full electronic search. We adhered to the PRISMA guidelines and registered the results in the PROSPERO. The search method used MeSH phrases and many different study types to find papers. After removing duplicate publications and conducting a screening process, we collaboratively evaluated the full texts to determine their inclusion. We then extracted data, including diagnosis, the total number of patients in the study, clinical recommendations from the studies, surgical complications, angina recurrence, hospital stay duration, and mortality rates. Many studies that investigate open and minimally invasive CABG methods have shown that the type of surgery can have a large effect on how well the patient recovers and how well the surgery works overall. While there are limited data on the possible advantages of minimally invasive CABG, a conclusive comparison with open CABG is still dubious. A systematic review of the qualitative research was conducted to explore the impact the attempt of taking your own life has had on your life and your work, to discover what changes participants have made to move toward a life worth living, and to understand how people can help better support individuals from attempted suicide attempts. Congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) is the most common cause of congenital infection and the leading cause of non-genetic sensorineural hearing loss in childhood. While treatment trials have been conducted in symptomatic children, defining asymptomatic infection can be complex. We performed a scoping review to understand how infection severity is defined and treated globally, as well as the various indications for initiating treatment. We conducted an electronic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library, using combinations of the following terms: "newborn", "baby", "child", "ganciclovir", "valganciclovir", and "cytomegalovirus" or "CMV". We included eligible prospective and retrospective studies, case series, and randomized clinical trials (RCTs) published up to May 2024. A total of 26 studies were included, of which only 5 were RCTs. There was significant heterogeneity between studies. The most commonly considered criteria for symptomatic infection were microcephaly (23/24 studies), abnormal neuroimaging (22/24 studies), chorioretinitis/ocular impairment (21/24 studies), and hearing impairment (20/24 studies). Two studies also included asymptomatic newborns in their treatment protocols. Outcome measures varied widely, focusing either on different hearing assessments or neurocognitive issues. Our literature analysis revealed significant variability and heterogeneity in the definition of symptomatic cCMV infection and, consequently, in treatment approaches. A consensus on core outcomes and well-conducted RCTs are needed to establish treatment protocols for specific groups of newborns with varying manifestations of cCMV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The present study aimed to systematically review the studies comparing the accuracy of intraoral scan (IOS) and conventional implant impressions (CI) in completely edentulous patients. Materials and Methods: Electronic searches were performed in PubMed, Embase and Cochrane CENTRAL up to December 1, 2023. Clinical studies and in vitro studies reporting the accuracy of digital full arch impressions were included. The primary outcome is the 3‐dimensional deviations between the study reference models. A risk of bias assessment was performed for clinical studies. A stratified meta‐analysis and a single‐armed meta‐analysis were conducted. Results: A total of 49 studies were included, with 8 clinical studies and 41 in vitro studies. For comparison between IOS and conventional impressions, studies were categorized into two groups based on the different measurement methods employed: RMS and CMM. In studies using RMS, the result favored the IOS in the unparalleled situation with the mean difference of −99.29 μm (95% CI: [−141.38, −57.19], I2 = 81%), while the result was opposite with the mean difference of 13.62 μm (95% CI: [10.97, 16.28], I2 = 26%) when implants were paralleled. For different brands of IOS, the accuracy ranged from 76.11 μm (95% CI: [42.36, 109.86]) to 158.63 μm (95% CI: [−14.68, 331.93]). Conclusions: Accuracy of intraoral scan is clinically acceptable in edentulous arches, especially for unparalleled implants. More clinical studies are needed to verify the present finding. BACKGROUND: The efficacy of keloid treatment in randomized studies is highly variable. However, no systematic review has been performed to evaluate the effect of different keloid properties on treatment efficacy. OBJECTIVE: To identify clinically relevant keloid properties that may influence treatment efficacy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An electronic database search was conducted. Two reviewers independently selected randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and performed a methodologic quality assessment using the Cochrane risk-of-bias 2.0 tool. RESULTS: One thousand five hundred twenty studies were screened, and 16 RCTs, involving 1,113 patients, were included. The authors found lower efficacy in older keloids (n 5 3), keloids located on the chest, extremities, pinna, and shoulder (n 5 3), larger keloids (n 5 2), lower baseline Vancouver Scar Scale score (n 5 1), and keloids with history of recurrence (n 5 1). Overall, most studies had a high risk of bias. CONCLUSION: Only a minority of studies specifically addressed keloid properties, which makes comparisons between studies challenging. The authors' results suggest that keloid location, duration prior to treatment, size, history of recurrence, and severity are clinically relevant keloid properties that affect treatment efficacy. Further studies are crucial to corroborate the authors' findings, establish a clinically relevant keloid classification, and ultimately develop an evidencebased treatment algorithm that takes these properties into account. Objectives: The objective of this study is to investigate the outcomes of clinically relevant laboratory studies regarding the cementation of implant‐supported restorations over ti‐bases. Materials and Methods: The present study has been conducted according to PRISMA statement. An electronic search was performed, including publications up to March 2024, to identify studies investigating the parameters affecting the cementation between ti‐bases and CAD/CAM prostheses. An assessment of the internal validity was performed, using a custom‐made risk of bias tool (QUIN). Results: From the included studies, 40.1% were reported on luting systems, 25% on ti‐base surface treatment, 25% on restoration surface, 21.8% on restoration material, and 18.7% on ti‐base height. The majority of the included studies were associated with a medium risk of bias. In the absence of micro‐retentive features, air‐abrasion of ti‐bases with a minimum height of 3.5 mm can be beneficial for restoration's retention. The bonding performance can vary not only between different bonding systems but also for different applications within the same system, based on a restoration's material and surface treatment as well as on ti‐base height and surface treatment. Conclusions: The height of the ti‐base seems to be the prevailing factor as it constitutes the prerequisite for other modifications of the bonding surfaces to have an advantageous effect. Since the parameters that can affect bonding performance between ti‐base and restoration can interact with each other, it is important for the clinician to focus on verified bonding protocols. Objective Methods Results Conclusions Mechanical restraints are known to be associated with many undesirable outcomes in clinical settings. Our objective was to examine the current literature to explore possible interventions that would reduce the use of mechanical restraints in the ED.In this scoping review, we searched online databases Embase, MEDLINE and Cochrane CENTRAL for any studies published between the databases from 1 January 2007 to 19 September 2023. Studies were included if interventions were hospital‐ or staff‐focused and reported measured outcomes before and after the introduction of the intervention. Risk of bias was assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Cohort Studies.The search strategy yielded 1937 studies across the three databases, of which 13 studies were extracted and included in the review. Interventions were categorised into four groups: provision of staff training, addition of a de‐escalation team, creation of a dedicated unit and introduction of an agitation scale only. Most of the studies saw reduction in restraint rates or time in restraints. Only the two studies that used an agitation scale as a stand‐alone intervention saw no significant reduction. Only one study had low risk of bias, whereas the remainder had high risk.Evidence supports further exploration of interventions that include: designing an agitation guideline; training staff in assessment, attitudinal and de‐escalation skills; addition of a crisis team; and environmental changes in the form of adding a dedicated clinical space. Frequency distribution was calculated for stress, anxiety and depression associated with students' gender, year of study and living circumstances.Twenty‐three studies were eligible for inclusion in the final review. Variables contributing to stress, anxiety and depression of dental students include gender, year of study and living circumstances. Being female is the most significant factor impacting on mental health.Results emphasise the need for dental institutions to develop targeted intervention programmes for more vulnerable students. Failure to act in a future pandemic event could result in ongoing psychological issues that persist following graduation, resulting in unfit dentists who may potentially affect the quality of the dental workforce. Background Primary endpoint measures in clinical trials are typically measures of disease severity, with patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) relegated as secondary endpoints. However, validation of some PROMs may be more rigorous than that of disease severity measures, which could provide support for a primary role for PROMs. Objectives This study reports on 24 peer reviewed journal articles that used the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) as primary outcome, derived from a systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) utlizing DLQI, covering all diseases and interventions. Methods The study protocol was prospectively published on the PROSPERO database, and the study followed PRISMA guidelines. Searches were made using MEDLINE, The Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL (EBSCO) and PsycINFO databases and records were combined into an Endnote database. Records were filtered for duplicates and selected based on study inclusion/exclusion criteria. Full-text articles were sourced and data were extracted by two reviewers into a bespoke REDCap database, with a third reviewer adjudicating disagreements. The Jadad scoring method was used to determine risk of bias. Results Of the 3220 publications retrieved from online searching, 457 articles met the eligibility criteria and included 198 587 patients. DLQI scores were used as primary outcomes in 24 (5.3%) of these studies comprising 15 different diseases and 3436 patients. Most study interventions (17 of 24 studies, 68%) were systemic drugs, with biologics (liraglutide, alefacept, secukinumab, ustekinumab, adalimumab) accounting for 5 of 25 pharmacological interventions (20%). Topical treatments comprised 32% (8 studies), whereas nonpharmacological interventions (n = 8) were 24% of the total interventions (N = 33). Three studies used nontraditional medicines. Eight studies were multicentred (33.3%), with trials conducted in at least 14 different countries, and four studies (16.7%) were conducted in multiple countries. The Jadad risk of bias scale showed that bias was uncertain or low, as 87.5% of studies had Jadad scores of ≥ 3. Conclusions This study provides evidence for use of the DLQI as a primary outcome in clinical trials. Three-dimensional reconstruction of the liver offers several advantages to the surgeon before and during liver resection. This review discusses the factors behind the use of liver 3-D reconstruction. Systematic electronic search, according to PRISMA criteria, was performed. A literature search of scientific papers was performed until October 2023. Articles were chosen based on reference to 3-D liver reconstruction and their use in liver surgery. GRADE methodology and the modified Newcastle–Ottawa scale were used to assess the quality of the studies. The research included 47 articles and 7724 patients were analyzed. Preoperative planning was performed with 3-D liver reconstruction in the 87.2% of the studies. Most of preoperative 3-D liver reconstructions were performed in the planning of complex or major hepatectomies. Complex hepatectomies were performed in 64.3% patients. The 55.3% of the studies reported an improved navigation and accuracy during liver resection. Four studies (8.6%) on living donor liver transplant (LDLT) concluded that 3-D liver reconstruction is useful for graft selection and vascular preservation. Nine papers (19.1%) reported an accurate measurement of future liver remnant. Liver 3-D reconstruction helps surgeons in the planning of liver surgery, especially in liver graft and complex liver resections, increasing the accuracy of the surgical resection. Background It is of vital importance to comprehensively and transparently report clinical trial activity. The SPIRIT 2013 and CONSORT 2010 statements exist to define items to be reported in clinical trial protocols and randomized controlled trials, respectively. The aim of this methodological review was to assess the reporting quality of pediatric neuro-oncology trial protocols and trial result articles. Methods Published trial protocols and phase II/III trial result articles relating to pediatric brain tumors (published after the introduction of the SPIRIT 2013 statement), were identified through searches of 4 electronic bibliographic databases. The reporting quality of included trial protocols and result articles was assessed against the aforementioned statements. In addition, the CONSORT-A checklist was used to assess the abstracts of trial result articles. Percentage adherence was calculated for each article. Results Nine trial protocols, 68 phase II trials, and 8 phase III trial result articles were included. Mean adherence of trial protocols to the SPIRIT statement was 76.8% (SD : 0.09). Mean adherence of trial abstracts to CONSORT-A was 67.4% (SD : 0.13) for phase II abstracts and 47.5% (SD : 0.09) for phase III abstracts. Adherence of trial result articles to CONSORT was 71.3% (SD : 0.10) for phase II trials and 70.3% (SD : 0.13) for phase III trials. Conclusions The reporting quality of pediatric neuro-oncology trial protocols and trial result articles requires improvement, particularly in the areas of randomization and blinding. This article introduces a framework for evaluating methods of combatting information search in online surveys. Three empirical studies based on the framework suggest that search is a serious but manageable problem. Search frequency varies substantially according to question content, ranging from 2% to 30% in batteries of general political knowledge questions. Deterrence works: a pledge not to cheat reduces search by half. Detection also works: web browser paradata identify 70% to 85% of search, while 60% to 85% of search on knowledge questions is undertaken by respondents who correctly answer "catch" questions about obscure Supreme Court cases. Detection and deterrence are complementary: deterrence reduces search ex ante, while detection quantifies success and provides ex post options for dealing with undeterred search. In combination, the three methods tested (pledge, paradata, and catch) deter or detect more than 90% of search, leaving search to affect about 0.5% of the remaining observations. Objective. To describe characteristics of published research on the safety and efficacy of vitamin K antagonists (VKA) for pregnant patients with antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), including their methodological characteristics and knowledge gaps. Methods. This study followed the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for scoping reviews and used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews protocol system. Studies were primarily identified through searching electronic databases including MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Study characteristics and outcomes were reported and described using customized charting tables. Results. Of 1528 publications, 17 remained in the final analysis. These reported up to 190 VKA-treated aPL-positive pregnancies diagnosed as antiphospholipid syndrome (APS); pregnancy cases were likely overlapping in some publications. In the 17 reports, there were 723 individuals in comparison groups, including healthy pretreatment pregnancies and women with APS treated with standard therapies without VKA. However, only 4 (23.5%) of the 17 publications stated a study objective focusing on VKA use, of which only one was a full-length article. In addition, information on VKA doses, disease diagnostic criteria, and the long-term outcomes of offspring were largely absent. Conclusion. The current evidence is insufficient to assess VKA efficacy and safety profiles in aPL-positive pregnant patients. Studies with a defined focus on VKA use in this population are lacking, and reporting of key information is not consistent. The structured professional judgement (SPJ) approach was initially developed to support risk assessment and management decisions. The approach is now being adapted and applied to admission assessments for adult secure services. This systematic review aims to summarise the evidence for the effectiveness and acceptability of the SPJ approach in admission assessments of this kind. A comprehensive electronic search strategy was used to identify studies indexed in PubMed, PsycInfo, Medline and Cochrane Library (January 2007 –January 2024). Two search strategies included terms (and synonyms) for psychiatric patients (quantitative) or clinicians and clinicians' experiences (qualitative), structured professional judgement, admission, and secure services. Twelve quantitative articles (published 2007–2020) were identified. SPJ-informed guidance included were the DUNDRUM-1, DUNDRUM-2, DUNDRUM-3, DUNDRUM-4, and the HCR-20. While findings were variable, the overall pattern indicated that ratings suggestive of more problems were associated with increased likelihood of admission or movement to higher security levels. There is emerging evidence for the use of SPJ guidance to support admission decision-making. Specifically, it should be used as an adjunct to existing decision-making processes rather than as a replacement for those processes. ABSTRACT Objective Overview Conclusions Clinical Significance Digital technology in dentistry has advanced rapidly in recent years, and as a result, the identification of static virtual articulation as a crucial stage in the digital process has attracted increasing attention. The use of intraoral scanners (IOSs) has made the acquisition of occlusal records more efficient. The purpose of this article is to review information on evaluation methods and influencing factors on the accuracy of static virtual articulation obtained by intraoral scanners.An electronic search of the published literature was performed up to November 2023 using five databases: PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus. The inclusion criteria were defined as relevant clinical or in vitro English studies on the accuracy of the occlusal relationship obtained using intraoral scanners. Therefore, a total of 30 articles were selected, reviewed, and discussed. Based on the results of the literature review, three methods have been used to evaluate the accuracy of virtual interocclusal records, including distance measurement (10 studies), occlusal contact analysis (13 studies), and deviation analysis after superimposing casts (8 studies). However, direct comparisons between these studies are challenging due to the different methods employed. Factors that were found to potentially impact accuracies, such as the range of vestibular scans, the number and position of virtual interocclusal records (VIRs), the location and extension of edentulous areas, alignment methods, and evaluation software programs have been extensively studied, but the extent to which these factors affect accuracy remains uncertain and varies depending on the specific circumstances.A combination of multiple evaluation methods for a more rigid assessment of virtual interocclusal records may be a better approach. Attention should be given to the factors that may influence the accuracy of virtual interocclusal records. Future research should focus on optimizing these factors to improve the clinical applicability of virtual interocclusal records.In restorative dentistry, virtual interocclusal records obtained with intraoral scanners have been successfully used with acceptable accuracy, although they present some issues. The primary objective of this systematic review study was to investigate the effectiveness, durability, and adverse events of PLLA treatment for aesthetic indications. The search strategy was performed in MEDLINE (Ovid). The electronic literature search of five databases was performed, from the inception of the databases until the 12th of February 2024. This was to identify randomized clinical trials that assessed PLLA treatment in adult individuals exhibiting facial aging and/or facial lipoatrophy. Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk-of-Bias Tool for Randomized Trials (RoB 2). Eleven RCTs out of 1467 identified citations were included. Four studies showed increased dermal thickness, significant improvement in facial lipoatrophy severity and aesthetic clinical scores, after PLLA treatment with its effects sustained for at least 25 months. Two studies demonstrated the superiority of PLLA over injectable human collagen. Also, three studies showed positive results favoring PLLA when compared with PH gel in lipoatrophy severity, transepidermal water loss, skin quality, elasticity, and patient satisfaction. All adverse events were mild-to-moderate in intensity, and the main ones worth noting were bruising, hematoma, tenderness, nodules, and edema. Five out of eleven studies were considered having high risk of bias. The evidence on the effectiveness and safety of PLLA for facial rejuvenation is of low quality; thus, the reported high effectiveness, safety, and long-lasting effects for this purpose should be further investigated. Participants were more likely to recommend professional help for a friend compared to themselves.Online searches for mental health information have the potential to increase mental health literacy. Objective Methods Results Conclusions To identify the association between cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and outcomes of radical cystectomy (RC), as RC is historically associated with high rates of short‐ and long‐term morbidity and mortality.This quantitative systematic review and meta‐analysis was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis guidelines. An electronic literature search was conducted to identify all relevant studies evaluating the relationship between CPET parameters and RC outcomes. The primary outcome was short‐term mortality. Secondary outcomes included hospital length of stay (LOS) and rate of serious adverse events as defined by the Clavien–Dindo classification.The search identified six studies for inclusion. A total of 546 patients underwent CPET prior to RC. There were significantly more deaths following RC observed in patients with poorer cardiopulmonary function (risk ratio RR 5.80, 95% confidence interval 4.96–6.78). There was no significant association between CPET parameters and adverse events or hospital LOS.The present systematic review and meta‐analysis identified a greater risk of 90‐day mortality in patients with poorer cardiorespiratory function, as measured by CPET. Background Methods Results Conclusion Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) encompass a spectrum of orofacial conditions characterised by pain and dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint and surrounding structures. Tobacco smoking has been posited as a potential factor influencing the prevalence and intensity of TMD. However, the nature and extent of this relationship remain unclear due to variations in study outcomes. This systematic review aimed to consolidate existing research findings to elucidate the association between tobacco smoking and TMD pain intensity.A comprehensive search of electronic databases was conducted to identify relevant studies published up to June 2023. Studies investigating the relationship between tobacco smoking and TMD pain were included. Data extraction was conducted by two reviewers. Quality assessment was performed using the New Castle‐Ottawa scale. Review Manager 5.4 was used to quantitatively analyse the results.The review included four studies employing similar TMD assessment techniques. All studies reported elevated TMD pain intensity among tobacco users, with non‐smokers exhibiting lower pain intensity. The quality of the included studies was good. Meta‐analytic results showed that TMD pain intensity was higher in the smokers group compared to the non‐smokers group, with a weighted mean difference (WMD) of 0.65 (BPM) (95% CI: [0.10, 1.19], p = .02).This systematic review provides a comprehensive synthesis of the existing literature on tobacco smoking and TMD symptoms. ABSTRACT Objective Materials and Methods Results Conclusion Clinical Significance This systematic review and meta‐analysis compared the accuracy of intraoral scanners and spectrophotometers in determining tooth shade.An electronic search of five databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, CENTRAL) was conducted on October 19, 2023. A total of 163 studies were identified from the databases, of which 23 articles were eligible for inclusion. In vivo and in vitro quasi‐experimental studies were included. After data extraction, a quantitative analysis was performed to determine the accuracy of the intraoral scanner in subgroups using four outcomes: trueness and precision with different measurement locations. A random‐effects model was used to pool effect sizes. The pooled proportion with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was used for the effect size measure.Eleven articles were included in the meta‐analysis. Trueness with the intraoral scanner was between 0.28 (CI: 0.09–0.60) and 0.38 (CI: 0.24–0.53). Repeatability was between 0.81 (CI: 0.64–0.91) and 0.85 (CI: 0.74–0.92). Trueness showed low, and precision had moderate certainty of evidence.The trueness of shade matching with intraoral scanners is low compared to spectrophotometers, although the precision is considered high and is similar to spectrophotometers.Shade determination with intraoral scanners is not recommended. Intensive care unit acquired weakness (ICU-AW) is a secondary neuromuscular complication in critically ill patients, characterized by profound weakness in all four limbs. Studies have shown that bundles of care are nursing strategies that combine a series of evidence-based interventions, which collectively optimize patients’ clinical outcomes compared to individual interventions. This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis of the effects of bundle interventions on ICU-AW deeply exploring the characteristics of bundle interventions, patient outcomes related to ICU-AW, and primarily investigating the effects of bundle interventions on ICU-AW. The main focus is to explore the clinical value of bundle interventions in treatment of ICU-acquired weakness in patients. Computer and manual searches were conducted using keywords to retrieve relevant studies on the effects of bundle interventions on ICU-AW from databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and EMbase. The search period ranged from database inception to the present. The control group received standard ICU care, including basic nursing, while the intervention group received bundle nursing interventions. A total of 10 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1545 participants (790 in the intervention group and 755 in the control group) were included. Meta-analysis results showed that the intervention group had significantly higher muscle strength (MD = 7.41, 95% CI: 6.65–8.16, P< 0.00001) and daily living ability (MD = 34.01, 95% CI: 32.54–35.48, P< 0.00001) than the control group. Additionally, the incidence of ICU-AW (OR = 0.39, 95% CI: 0.26–0.59, P< 0.00001), mechanical ventilation time (MD =-3.71, 95% CI: -3.58∼-2.76, P< 0.0001), and ICU length of stay (MD =-2.73, 95% CI: -3.14∼-2.31, P< 0.00001) were significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group. ICU-AW has a severe negative impact on the recovery and functional restoration of ICU patients, increasing the treatment complexity for healthcare providers and the mortality and disability rates for patients. The bundled care approach may help reduce the incidence of ICU-AW, promote the restoration of daily activity function, enhance muscle strength, and reduce ICU stay and mechanical ventilation time for ICU patients. This article contributes to knowledge on EU policy for Internet intermediaries by providing a characterization and analysis of the system of governance for intermediaries set out initially in the 2000 Directive on E-Commerce and recently updated in the 2022 Digital Services Act. The article shows how the new regulatory system of the DSA, unlike its predecessor, is underpinned by a strong European public transnational network governance approach, with a very noteworthy instantiation of regulatory responsibility at the EU level in respect of the power given to the European Commission to regulate Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) and Very Large Online Search Engines (VLOSEs). This reflects an attempt to mitigate the negative consequences of a largely light touch, self-regulated environment faced by Internet intermediaries. The article contends that the EU's new system of platform regulation creates instead a trans-European network (public regulatory dominated and epistemic regulatory actor enabled) more akin to the neoliberal model of EU telecommunications governance than the private interest self-regulatory aspirations of Internet governance specialists of the early 2000s, when the DEC was established. Background Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin characterised by facial erythema, oedema, telangiectasias, papules, pustules and nodules. There is a paucity of effective therapeutic modalities for the management of rosacea. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), a modality in which flash lamps installed in an optical treatment device (head or tip) with mirrors to reflect light, has in recent times gained popularity in the management of this condition. Aim This systematic review aims to evaluate the efficacy, safety and adverse effects of IPL treatment for rosacea. Methods This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis. The electronic databases searched were Medline, PubMed and Scopus databases. The Risk of bias in non-randomised studies of interventions (ROBINS-I) and risk-of-bias tools for randomised trials (RoB-2) was employed to assess the risk of bias. Results Of a total of 233 articles retrieved from Medline, Scopus and PubMed databases, 14 studies qualified for final analysis. The studies included patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV, with ages ranging from 15 to 78 years. Although the included studies showed heterogeneity between the parameters used, most studies demonstrated positive effects of IPL treatment on telangiectasia and erythema in rosacea and that the adverse effects presented were transitory. Limitation The methodological quality of the included studies was poor. Background: Accumulating evidence suggests that thyroid dysfunction may be related to the risk of dementia. However, previous studies evaluating the association between subclinical hyperthyroidism and the risk of dementia showed inconsistent results. This systematic review and meta‐analysis were performed to evaluate the relationship between subclinical hyperthyroidism and the incidence of dementia in the general population. Methods: Cohort studies relevant were retrieved by searching the electronic databases including PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase. A random‐effects model was used to combine the data by incorporating the influence of between‐study heterogeneity. Subgroup and meta‐regression analyses were performed to investigate the source of heterogeneity. Results: Nine cohort studies including 49,218 community‐derived participants were included. Among them, 3177 (6.5%) had subclinical hyperthyroidism at baseline. During a mean follow‐up of 10.2 years, 4044 participants developed dementia. The pooled results showed that compared to the participants with euthyroidism, those with subclinical hyperthyroidism had a higher incidence of dementia (risk ratio: 1.38, 95% confidence interval: 1.09 to 1.74, p =.006; I2 = 47%). Subgroup analyses according to study design, age of the participants, methods for diagnosis of dementia, or analytic model did not significantly change the results. The univariate meta‐regression showed that the cutoff of thyroid‐stimulating hormone for defining subclinical hyperthyroidism negatively affected the association between subclinical hyperthyroidism and dementia (coefficient: –1.44, p =.009), which completely explained the heterogeneity (residual I2 = 0%).
