This paper focuses on reducing energy consumption in ultrasound tomography by utilizing machine learning techniques. The core idea is to investigate the feasibility of minimizing the number of measurement sensors without sacrificing prediction accuracy. This article evaluates the quality of reconstructions derived from data collected through two or three measurement channels. In subsequent steps, machine learning models are developed to predict the number, location, and size of the objects. A reliable object detection method is introduced, requiring less information than traditional signal analysis from multiple channels. Various machine learning models were tested and compared to validate the approach, with most demonstrating high accuracy or R 2 scores in their respective tasks. By reducing the number of sensors, the goal is to lower energy usage while maintaining high precision in localization. This study contributes to the ongoing research on energy efficiency in sensing and localization, especially in environments where resource optimization is crucial, such as remote or resource-limited settings. The pursuit of high-performance and cost-effective photoelectrocatalysts for water splitting stands as a focal point in sustainable energy research. In this investigation, we present the fabrication of a novel multifunctional g-C3N4/Al2S3 nanocomposite as photoelectrocatalyst utilizing the co-precipitation method. Tailored for application in photoelectrochemical water splitting under alkaline conditions, the resulting nanocomposite underwent physical characterization via X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, affirming its well-defined shape, size and crystallinity. Employing a three-dimensional nickel foam substrate as a conducting support, we scrutinized the performance of the g-C3N4/Al2S3 nanocomposite in the light assisted Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) and Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER). Our findings reveal the nanocomposites superiority over its pristine components (g-C3N4 and Al2S3) in terms of charge transport within an alkaline medium. Additionally, the g-C3N4/Al2S3 nanocomposite showcases enhanced photoelectrocatalytic efficiencies, achieving low overpotentials of 111 mV for HER and 217 mV for OER respectively, to reach a current density of 10 mA cm–2. The prepared g-C3N4/Al2S3 electrocatalyst demonstrates exceptional durability in both HER and OER processes, attributed to the robust electronic coupling between g-C3N4 and Al2S3. This study marks a significant advancement in the development of efficient and robust photoelectrochemical systems for water splitting, promising a brighter future for sustainable energy production. Harvesting energy from nonlinear systems has been at the centre of research in the energy harvesting community. Many such proposed systems are single nonlinear harvester. While these systems show an increase in bandwidth of harvesting frequency, overall, they are not effective enough in power generation. This article studies power harvesting and frequency bandwidth characteristics of an array of harvesters. Multiple harvesters are considered with linear and nonlinear coupling between the harvesters. The phenomena of internal resonance (IR) and stochastic resonance (SR) are reported. The IR in multiple coupled nonlinear harvesters is explored using multiple-scale analysis. A parametric study is conducted to demonstrate the effect of coupling strength, frequency mistuning, innate nonlinearity and other parameters. The parametric study helped establish effective ways to increase bandwidth. Moreover, a stochastically loaded linearly coupled bistable harvester array is numerically analysed to find the effect of coupling strength and array size on the phenomenon of SR and on the system's harvesting performance. Through these studies, the potential of multiple coupled nonlinear harvesters in enhanced energy harvesting is demonstrated under both harmonic and stochastic excitation. AbstractThe lattice structure has great application prospects in the field of energy absorption, but the high cost of numerical analysis makes it difficult to carry out related structural designs. Therefore, this article studies the feasibility of the homogenization analysis technique for the analysis of energy absorption processes in lattice-filled structures. In the study, compression experiments and numerical simulations were conducted for four different types of unit cells (including periodic truss-lattice cells and triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS cells). In the experiments, two compression samples with different numbers of periods were designed for the same unit cell structure. The research shows that the homogenized numerical model takes a lot less time to run than the classical beam and shell element models. The results of the simulation are also in line with the data from the experiments. On the other hand, the material curve constructed based on a small number of unit cell samples has excellent analytical accuracy. This means that relevant research can obtain the material experimental data required for homogenized analysis using lattice samples with low manufacturing costs. Microgrids have emerged as a crucial focus in power engineering and sustainable energy research, with utility-scale microgrids playing a significant role in both developed and developing countries like the Philippines. This study presents a comprehensive framework for utility-scale microgrid planning, emphasizing the sustainable integration of renewable energy resources to the distribution grid. The framework addresses the operational modes of grid-connected and islanded microgrids, emphasizing the seamless transition between these modes to ensure a continuous power supply. By leveraging local distributed energy resources, the microgrid aims to reduce dependence on the main transmission grid while enhancing resilience and reliability. The proposed planning framework not only eases the economic burden of constructing renewable energy sources but also aids distribution utilities in maximizing local resources to achieve sustainable energy goals. Through a detailed network analysis and modeling, the framework provides a robust foundation for optimizing the energy mix and enhancing the overall system performance. Thermochromic smart windows have emerged as a focal point in energy research. In this study, a novel approach is introduced for developing thermoresponsive materials for smart windows, utilizing microscopic agglomeration of molecules to regulate incident light. The groundbreaking material, β‐CD‐Val‐IBAm4, is constructed by grafting four isobutylated valines onto natural β‐cyclodextrins. This material exhibits a unique "hand‐in‐hand" effect, resulting from the interaction of isobutylated valine side chains, which leads to molecular aggregation and reduced light transmission at elevated temperatures. The hydration–dehydration process is related to molecular aggregation rather than crosslinking, ensuring the structural integrity and uniformity of the smart windows. Molecular dynamics simulations and 2D NOESY confirm the thermal response mechanism of β‐CD‐Val‐IBAm4. When dissolve in a glycerol‐water binary solvent system, the material forms a thermochromic liquid with outstanding optical performance (ΔTsol of 1 mm liquid can reach 69.8%) and long‐term stability. Building energy consumption prediction has always played a significant role in assessing building energy efficiency, building commissioning, and detecting and diagnosing building system faults. With the progress of society and economic development, building energy consumption is growing rapidly. Therefore, accurate and effective building energy consumption prediction is the basis of energy conservation. Although there are currently a large number of energy consumption research methods, each method has different applicability and advantages and disadvantages. This study proposes a Time Convolution Network model based on an attention mechanism, which combines the ability of the Time Convolution Network model to capture ultra-long time series information with the ability of the BiGRU model to integrate contextual information, improve model parallelism, and reduce the risk of overfitting. In order to tune the hyperparameters in the structure of this prediction model, such as the learning rate, the size of the convolutional kernel, and the number of recurrent units, this study chooses to use the Golden Jackal Optimization Algorithm for optimization. Developing novel anodes with outstanding fast‐charging properties is crucial for next‐generation energy storage research. Sb2S3 materials are deemed promising electrodes due to their high theoretical specific capacity. However, they are restricted by sluggish bulk‐phase kinetics, bringing about inferior electronic conductivity at high current density. In this work, the cable‐like SS@C‐x anodes are successfully prepared via the thermal‐chemical treatment method. Through the tailoring of habit modifiers, their unique core–shell architectures are induced with (hk1) preferential planes and the construction of S‐defects, accompanied by lowered energy barriers. Meanwhile, assisted by C─S and C─O─Sb bonds, the charge accumulation on the surface can be rapidly released toward the bulk phase. As expected, for the as‐optimized samples, the capacity of 603.7 mAh g−1 can remain after 100 cycles at 1.0 A g−1. Even at 10.0 A g−1, their superior capacity of 436.1 mAh g−1 can be noted, and it still displayed the reversible capacity of 479 mAh g−1 at −5 °C. Assisted by kinetic analysis, the great electrochemical properties mainly come from the reduced migration energy barriers and accelerated Li+ diffusion rates. The focus of this paper is the efficient numerical solution of the fluid flow in the Utah Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy (FORGE) reservoir. In this study, the public data available for Discrete Fracture Networks (DFN) around well 58-32 is used to represent the DFN. In this research, a novel computationally efficient method called Hele-Shaw (HS) approximation is used for modeling fluid flow in FORGE well. An analysis of the influence of fracture intensity in a network is carried out using the HS method. The HS method was validated by solving the full Navier–Stokes equations (NSE) for a network of eight fractures. Conserving energy resources is crucial for sustaining effort and preventing exhaustion, especially in demanding work environments. Yet, a reliable and valid measure for assessing individuals' motivation to conserve energy is currently lacking. To fill this gap, we introduce a concise five-item scale, the Conservation of Human Energy Resources Index (CHERI), available in both German (CHERI-G) and English (CHERI-E) versions. In four comprehensive studies (N = 1,814), we evaluated the structure and psychometric properties of both language versions. Our results reveal that the CHERI measures a one-dimensional, homogeneous construct characterized by a high internal consistency (Studies 1, 2, and 4). Our findings also emphasize the CHERI's sensitivity to change (Study 3) and its meaningful associations with measures from the nomological network of motivation, energy, and effort (Studies 2 and 4). Additionally, we demonstrate the cross-cultural equivalence of the CHERI-G and CHERI-E as well as their equivalence across situational contexts, encompassing both workplace and academic settings (Study 4). Taken together, the present research provides preliminary evidence for the psychometric properties of the CHERI – a measure that can be used to enhance our understanding of energy conservation behaviours and to open new perspectives for advancing research on energy management and recovery. Abstract Background In a case study in Spain, the unequal proportion of men and women in a research organization in the energy sector is severe, and long-established dynamics that might determine differences in access to leadership positions and inequalities in research careers are evident. The gender gap in historically masculinized fields, such as energy engineering reflects more than simply the differences in male and female values and personalities. This study seeks to explore the gender gap in energy research centres and to identify barriers that potentially hinder the research careers of women. It proposes the development of a diagnostic tool, based upon indicators, to monitor and evaluate gender roles and inequalities in the management of research centres for identifying and addressing the dynamics and obstacles that hinder women's progress in the energy sector and their potential contribution to the field. This participatory multicriteria-based tool prioritizes the proposed indicators by their influence and importance in the context of energy research and applies it to the monitoring of a specific Spanish energy research centre. Results The results are threefold: (i) the methodology is adaptable to different research centres; (ii) the analysis of indicators’ prioritization could lead to recommendations that should be addressed first; (iii) the diagnostic tool used in this in-depth case study of an energy research centre in Spain allowed results to be achieved in terms of gender dynamics. Two indicators stand out as the most relevant in our analysis: gender diversity in leadership positions and uncomplicated application of work–life balance measures. In this case study, the measurement of the first indicator has drawn unsatisfactory results, and the research of the latter is considered still insufficient. In conclusion, this difference becomes a vicious or negative circle for attracting and retaining more women to the research centre. Despite these results, no gender gap seems to be recognized and thus, no measures are being taken to improve the situation. Conclusions Comprehensive data and contextualized monitoring are necessary to effectively study and enhance the presence and participation of women in the energy science sector. This approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, is suitable for any research centre that would like to monitor its gender gap, identify potential sources of inequity and address them.

With increasing dual pressure from global large energy consumption and environmental protection, multiple integrated energy systems (IESs) can provide more effective ways to achieve better energy utilization performance. However, in actual circumstances, many challenges have been brought to coupling multiple energy sources along with the uncertainty of each generated power to achieve efficient operation of IESs. To resolve this problem, this article reviews primary research on integrated energy optimization and scheduling technology to give constructive guidance in power systems. Firstly, the conceptual composition and classification of IESs are presented. Secondly, the coupling relationship between multiple energy sources based on mathematical expression is studied deeply. Thirdly, the scheduling of IESs with different types and regions is classified, analyzed, and summarized for clarification. Fourthly, on this basis, potential solutions for applications of key optimization technologies involved in the scheduling process in IESs can be found systematically. Equation of state measurements at Jovian or stellar conditions are currently conducted by dynamic shock compression driven by multi-kilojoule multi-beam nanosecond-duration lasers. These experiments require precise design of the target and specific tailoring of the spatial and temporal laser profiles to reach the highest pressures. At the same time, the studies are limited by the low repetition rate of the lasers. Here, we show that by the irradiation of a thin wire with single-beam Joule-class short-pulse laser, a converging cylindrical shock is generated compressing the wire material to conditions relevant to the above applications. The shockwave was observed using Phase Contrast Imaging employing a hard X-ray Free Electron Laser with unprecedented temporal and spatial sensitivity. The data collected for Cu wires is in agreement with hydrodynamic simulations of an ablative shock launched by highly impulsive and transient resistive heating of the wire surface. The subsequent cylindrical shockwave travels toward the wire axis and is predicted to reach a compression factor of 9 and pressures above 800 Mbar. Simulations for astrophysical relevant materials underline the potential of this compression technique as a new tool for high energy density studies at high repetition rates. Hard X-ray free electron lasers allow new insights into dense matter dynamics. Here, the authors show that a single-beam, short-pulse laser can generate a converging cylindrical shock in a thin wire, providing a new method for high energy density research with improved repetition rates. The enormous energy carried by discharged water poses a serious threat to the Piano Key Weir (PKW) and its downstream hydraulic structures. However, previous research on energy dissipation in PKWs has mainly focused downstream effects, and the research methods have been largely limited to physical model experiments. To deeply investigate the discharge capacity and hydraulic characteristics of PKW, this study established a PKW model with universally applicable geometric parameters. By combining physical model experiments and numerical simulations, the flow pattern of the PKW, the discharge at the overflow edges, and the variation in the energy dissipation were revealed for different water heads. The results showed that the discharge of the side wall constitutes the majority of the total discharge at low water heads, resulting in a relatively high overall discharge efficiency. As the water head increases, the proportion of discharge from the inlet and outlet keys increases, while the proportion from the side wall decreases. This change results in less discharge from the side wall and a consequent reduction in the overall discharge efficiency. The PKW exhibits superior energy dissipation efficiency under low water heads. However, this efficiency exhibits an inverse relationship with an increasing water head. The overall energy dissipation efficiency can reach 40% to 70%. Additionally, the collision of the water flows inside the outlet chamber and the mixing of the overflow jet play a primary role in energy dissipation. With the introduction of China's "Carbon Peaking Action Plan Before 2030," the transformation of the power industry has released huge opportunities and potential. The DC distribution network can well-coordinate the contradiction between distributed power and grid access, fully develop the benefits of distributed energy, and become a new direction for the development of the power industry. However, the current traditional DC-DC converters have problems such as single-topology structure and low power density, which can only complete one-way transmission of energy; hence, the distributed energy cannot be fully utilized. Addressing the problem of distributed energy transfer, this paper is based on a three-port DC-DC converter for a low-voltage DC distribution network to realize energy transfer between the DC distribution network, distributed energy, and low-voltage load. First, the energy transfer modes of the three-port DC-DC converter are introduced. Combined with the converter topology and energy transfer mode, a simplified equivalent model of the converter is established. The voltage gain characteristics and frequency characteristics of this converter are studied. Furthermore, the effects of the excitation inductance to primary resonance inductance ratio parameter k and quality factor Q on the voltage gain characteristics of the converter are discussed. On this basis, the resonant cavity design of the converter is based on the optimal selection of parameters k and Q so that the converter can meet the voltage gain requirements in both forward and reverse operations. This research explores the energy of the prime ideal graph of a commutative ring. The study demonstrates the energy formula of the graph associated with transmission-based matrices. Through research, the findings highlight the distance, Wiener-Hosoya, and distance signless Laplacian matrices. Within days of taking office in January 2021, President Biden signed an executive order establishing the Justice40 initiative, which directed federal agencies to ensure that at least 40% of the benefits of federal investments flow to historically marginalized communities. This article traces how Justice40, as interpreted and enacted by government bureaucrats, academics, industry researchers, and activists, intervenes in the governance of the energy transition it seeks to put into motion. Drawing from ongoing critical participation in energy research and development arenas and taking inspiration from Kim Fortun's notion of the "informating of environmentalism," this article argues that Justice40 can be understood as an attempt to informate justice, rendering it into problems that can be understood, manipulated, and audited through information systems. Scrambling to manage their accountabilities to the executive branch, Congress, and the American taxpayers footing the bill for massive infrastructure investments, Department of Energy programs are rolling out intricate systems of quantification, whose objectives of commensurability obscure local conceptions and prioritizations of justice. While Justice40 articulates lofty goals of energy transition enhancing the wellbeing of people who have otherwise been harmed by or excluded from the country's existing energy infrastructure, its everyday practice has the ironic effect of undermining both epistemic and procedural justice. This article presents the possibilities of working in a virtual high-dose rate field following a procedure developed at the Nuclear Security Department of the Centre for Energy Research (EK NSD) in Budapest. Real-life simulation of a radiation survey and a radiation risk assessment as well as searching for lost radioactive sources, monitoring surface contamination (SC), in addition to localizing and overseeing materials out of regulatory control (e.g., at a radiological crime scene) are only possible under inactive conditions or in low-dose rate environments in accordance with the as low as resonably achievable (ALARA) principle. A virtual radioactive source system (VRSS) developed at the Nuclear Security Department (NSD) makes it possible to simulate "measured" values very accurately, even in a high-dose rate environment, but without exposing trainees to radiation hazards. Due to the rapidly developing technologies, fast and practical solutions are offered to the problems encountered in daily life. Metropolitan cities are greatly affected by the ever-increasing population and migrations to big cities, the increase in production with the economy and job opportunities. At this point, with the introduction of smart transportation systems, fast and effortless solutions can be produced by saving time and space. City life can be facilitated by applying more efficient and rational solutions with smart transportation systems. In this study, it is aimed to investigate information about the Intelligent Transportation Systems and one of its applications, park and ride, which has created a significant agenda within the scope of transportation engineering in the recent past, and to provide information about the investments made by examining the application for Istanbul along with its various applications in the world. Some suggestions will be made by emphasizing the importance of the park and Ride smart city application for Istanbul. In conclusion, predictions of P + R application and energy consumption in periods of 1-24 months were made through machine learning. By obtaining energy consumption data thanks to machine learning, carbon gas emissions and its effects on greenhouse gases were also examined. It can be thought that by obtaining energy consumption data for the long term thanks to machine learning, it can make significant contributions to future investments, green environment-green world, and climate change studies. Background: In the midst of increasingly worrying environmental conditions, various actions are needed from both individual and organizational sides in determining their behavior. All behavior is believed to have an impact on the environment, depending on the behavior itself. It was discovered that employee green behavior (EGB), was used as an instrument to realize corporate sustainability. Purpose: This research aims to determine the influence of employee knowledge and awareness on EGB, which is mediated by the factors of green motivation and behavioral intentions. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses primary data taken from a survey from a state-owned company in Indonesia running in the energy sector, disguised as XYZ Company. The sample used was 422 employees. The data analysis was conducted by structural equation modeling (SEM) with Lisrel 8.80. Finding/result: This research found that green motivation and behavioral intentions were proven to significantly mediate the relationship between employee knowledge and awareness on employee green behavior. Conclusion: This research has deep implications in enriching the perspective of implementing environmentally friendly behavior in the business environment and strengthening managerial management by providing comprehensive considerations for management in realizing environmentally friendly business processes as a whole, especially in the field of human resource management. Market rules, changes in regulations for users and producers, technological innovation and economic development are important factors shaping energy transitions. Therefore, explaining energy transitions requires a multidisciplinary insight to investigate these factors. The study of energy transitions faces an analytical and methodological challenge, particularly in communicating trends shaping the energy systems in developing economies. The existing literature is not consistent in identifying these disciplines nor proposing how they can be combined. In this sense, this paper proposes a new and simple methodological path to assess variables and theories. It conceptualizes energy transitions as a co-evolution of two types of systems: system innovation with its roots in evolutionary, institutional economics, science and technology studies (STS); and energy systems with its roots in neoclassical and evolutionary economics. From how to conduct a systematic literature review, to how best integrate theories and the analytical framework in which key questions can be answered, the paper elevates the role of political science, as policies play a prominent role in shaping energy transitions. Layered lanthanum titanate (La2Ti2O7) perovskite is a good photocatalytic material owing to its high stability, strong redox ability, and non-toxicity. However, its inherent wide bandgap limits its application in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. Therefore, combining La2Ti2O7 with two-dimensional (2D) narrow-bandgap semiconductors to form 2D/2D layered structures is the preferred strategy to improve its photocatalytic performance. In this study, a novel 2D/2D ZnIn2S4/La2Ti2O7 Z-scheme heterojunction was prepared through a solvothermal method. The experimental results show that when the molar ratio of La2Ti2O7 to ZnIn2S4 is 1 : 4, the hydrogen evolution rate of the composite under ultraviolet-visible light reaches 6.97 mmol g−1 h−1, which is 3.5 times higher than that of the pure ZnIn2S4. The results of the morphological characterization studies of the samples and the photoelectrochemical measurements show that channels for the rapid transfer of carriers are generated by the unique 2D/2D structure of these samples, and the separation and migration efficiency of the photogenerated carriers significantly improved due to the formation of the Z-scheme heterojunction. Nature-based solutions (NBS), in the form of active ecosystem conservation, restoration and improved land management, represent a pathway to accelerate net-zero emissions (NZE) strategies and support biodiversity. Meaningful implementation and successful accounting depend on the ability to differentiate between anthropogenic and natural carbon fluxes on land. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) land carbon accounting methods currently incorporate all CO2 fluxes on managed land in country inventories without distinguishing between anthropogenic and natural components. Meanwhile, natural land carbon sinks are modelled by earth system models but are mostly reported at global level. Here we present a simple yet novel methodology to estimate the present and future progression of natural land sinks at the country and regional level. Forests dominate the uptake of CO2 on land and as such, our analysis is based on allocating global projections of the natural land carbon flux to individual countries using a compilation of forest land areas for a historic and scenario range spanning 1960-2100. Specifically, we use MIT's carbon cycle model simulations that are set in the context of emissions pathways from the Shell Energy Security Scenarios (2023). Our natural land carbon flux estimates for individual countries and regions such as the European Union (EU) show generally good agreement with independent estimates from recent land-use harmonisation studies for 2000-2020. Hence, our approach may also provide a simple, first-order exploration of future natural land fluxes at country level--a potential that other studies do not yet offer. In turn, this enables better understanding of the anthropogenic and natural components contributing to country NZE targets under different scenarios. Nevertheless, our findings also suggest that models such as the Shell World Energy Model (WEM) would benefit from further improvements in the apportionment of land carbon sources and sinks to evaluate detailed actions to meet country targets. More importantly, uncertainties remain regarding the resilience of land ecosystems and their capacity to store increasing amounts of carbon under progressive global warming. Therefore, we recommend that the carbon cycle modelling and energy modelling research communities continue to collaborate to develop a next generation of relevant data products to distinguish anthropogenic from natural impacts at local, regional and national levels. Background: In a case study in Spain, the unequal proportion of men and women in a research organization in the energy sector is severe, and long-established dynamics that might determine differences in access to leadership positions and inequalities in research careers are evident. The gender gap in historically masculinized fields, such as energy engineering reflects more than simply the differences in male and female values and personalities. This study seeks to explore the gender gap in energy research centres and to identify barriers that potentially hinder the research careers of women. It proposes the development of a diagnostic tool, based upon indicators, to monitor and evaluate gender roles and inequalities in the management of research centres for identifying and addressing the dynamics and obstacles that hinder women's progress in the energy sector and their potential contribution to the field. This participatory multicriteria-based tool prioritizes the proposed indicators by their influence and importance in the context of energy research and applies it to the monitoring of a specific Spanish energy research centre. Results: The results are threefold: (i) the methodology is adaptable to different research centres; (ii) the analysis of indicators' prioritization could lead to recommendations that should be addressed first; (iii) the diagnostic tool used in this in-depth case study of an energy research centre in Spain allowed results to be achieved in terms of gender dynamics. Two indicators stand out as the most relevant in our analysis: gender diversity in leadership positions and uncomplicated application of work–life balance measures. In this case study, the measurement of the first indicator has drawn unsatisfactory results, and the research of the latter is considered still insufficient. In conclusion, this difference becomes a vicious or negative circle for attracting and retaining more women to the research centre. Despite these results, no gender gap seems to be recognized and thus, no measures are being taken to improve the situation. Conclusions: Comprehensive data and contextualized monitoring are necessary to effectively study and enhance the presence and participation of women in the energy science sector. This approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, is suitable for any research centre that would like to monitor its gender gap, identify potential sources of inequity and address them. To further improve the fuel economy of hybrid tractors, an energy management strategy based on model predictive control (MPC) solved by dynamic programming (DP) is proposed, taking into account the various typical operating conditions of tractors. A coupled dynamics model was constructed for a series diesel–electric hybrid tractor under three typical working conditions: plowing, rotary tillage, and transportation. Using DP to solve for the globally optimal SOC change trajectory under each operating condition of the tractor as the SOC constraint for MPC, we designed an energy management strategy based on DP-MPC. Finally, a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test platform was built using components such as Matlab/Simulink, NI-Veristand, PowerCal, HIL test cabinet, and vehicle controller. The designed energy management strategy was then tested using the HIL test platform. The test results show that, compared with the energy management strategy based on power following, the DP-MPC-based energy management strategy reduces fuel consumption by approximately 7.97%, 13.06%, and 11.03%, respectively, under the three operating conditions of plowing, rotary tillage, and transportation. This achieves fuel-saving performances of approximately 91.34%, 94.87%, and 96.69% compared to global dynamic programming. The test results verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. Energy and Society: A Critical Perspective is a comprehensive work in the field of energy geography, encompassing three inter‐ related sections: energy, spaces, and flows; securities, vulnerabilities, and justice; and transitions, governance, and futures. This book emphasizes the social embeddedness of energy systems through a critical perspective, placing energy issues in a broad social and historical context. It explores how energy systems and social structures shape each other and includes numerous case studies, making it an important reference for academic research in energy geography and related policy studies. This work introduces a completely rewritten version of the program RMCProfile (version 7), big‐box, reverse Monte Carlo modelling software for analysis of total scattering data. The major new feature of RMCProfile7 is the ability to refine multiple phases simultaneously, which is relevant for many current research areas such as energy materials, catalysis and engineering. Other new features include improved support for molecular potentials and rigid‐body refinements, as well as multiple different data sets. An empirical resolution correction and calculation of the pair distribution function as a back‐Fourier transform are now also available. We present the design and laboratory tests for a new Q-band frequency tunable Doppler backscattering (DBS) system suitable for probing poloidal wavenumber kñ = 6–8 cm−1 density fluctuations and their flow velocities in the pedestal and scape-off layer (SOL) of the DIII-D tokamak. This system will provide new measurements in the increasingly important and under-diagnosed far pedestal and SOL plasma regions. These results are important for experimental transport studies and necessary for the validation of transport models, both of which are important to fusion energy research. The use of a single tunable frequency reduces the complexity and potential failure points as compared to a multichannel system. This new system utilizes a 33–50 GHz tunable source and will be integrated into the current V-band DBS in DIII-D using a broadband Q- and V-band multiplexer. A full-scale mockup of the quasi-optical system was used to test and optimize the performance. These tests include beam profile measurements at different distances (and angles) from a paraboloidal focusing and steering mirror. The measurements cover the full frequency range 33–75 GHz of the integrated/combined Q–V band DBS system and target a large radial coverage of the low-field side of the plasma from ρ = 1.1 to ρ = 0.5, where ρ is the normalized flux surface radial coordinate. The gentle yet cost-effective drying of sensitive products in the food and pharmaceutical industries is becoming increasingly important. To maintain sensitive ingredients, color, structure, and viability of micro-organisms, often freeze-drying is the only possible way to preserve the product. As many products come in as bulk material, they are dried on heated shelves resulting in poor heat and mass transport through the bed. Resulting in a very time and cost intensive process. Therefore, efforts are being made to improve the mass and heat transport of the process. The outer mass transport through the bulk can be improved by continuous mixing of the pellets, facilitating the removal of water vapor from the condenser. In addition, the issue of limited heat transport can be addressed by using volumetric energy input from microwaves. This process is called dynamic microwave freeze-drying. As dynamic microwave freeze-drying is a combined drying and mixing process, with particle properties continuously changing during drying, it is necessary to gain a more detailed insight into the process. For this purpose, a drier is designed that is capable of in situ neutron imaging, a method sensitive to a material's hydrogen content. This paper presents the design of a pilot-scale microwave freeze dryer for in situ neutron imaging and shows the first images taken during the dynamic microwave freeze-drying of bulk particles at the Center for Energy Research, Budapest Neutron Center in Budapest, Hungary. An axial flow circulating pump (AFCP), as a key facility of the large vessel power system, is designed for conveying cooling water of the power system. The pump will be rotated actively under the drive of motor when the vessel is navigated at a low speed, which is called the pump operating condition (POC). Besides, it will be rotated passively under the drive of Inlet flow fluid energy in the case of the vessel at a high speed, which is called the unpowered driven condition (UDC). It is worth noting that the characteristics of internal flow, energy generation and dissipation laws of the AFCP are varied under UDC and POC. This paper analyzes the energy transfer laws of the AFCP under UDC and POC using the modified PANS model and energy conveying theory. Pressure propulsion power (accounting for 82.6%) is a primary factor affecting energy conveying, while Lamb vector divergence and enstrophy (accounting for 17.4%) have limited effects on energy conveying, according to the research findings. In order to obtain a more detailed and comprehensive relationship between the cavitation phenomenon and energy loss, this paper takes an NACA66 hydrofoil as an example to analyze the specific relationship between the cavitation flow field and energy dissipation by using entropy production theory, a ZGB cavitation model, and k-ε turbulence model which were modified by a Filter-Based Density Correction model (FBDCM). The results show that the modified k-ε model can effectively capture the morphology of cavity evolution in the cavitation flow field. The vortex dilatation term contributes the most to the vorticity transport in cavitation flow. The energy loss of the cavitation flow field is primarily composed of turbulent dissipation, which is primarily distributed in the area below the lifted attached cavity and inside the vortex induced by the cloud cavity. The direct dissipation entropy production is predominantly distributed in the area near the stagnation point of the hydrofoil's leading edge and inside the cavity. The wall entropy production is chiefly distributed in the area where the cavity is not covered. The cavitation entropy production mainly occurs on the vapor–liquid interface, and the value is negative, indicating that the vapor–liquid conversion in the cavitation process needs to absorb energy from the flow field. Research Object: Taking the acquisition mechanism of oscillatory flapping-wing wave energy as the research object, the scheme design and dynamic analysis of the acquisition mechanism are studied. Research Methods: According to the working principle of the acquisition mechanism of oscillatory flapping-wing wave energy, the rotation dynamics model of the acquisition mechanism and the corresponding relationship between the model parameters and the design parameters of the mechanism are established. Based on the momentum moment theorem, the differential equation of the dynamics of the acquisition mechanism and the transfer function of the system are established. The dynamic response of the acquisition mechanism is analyzed, the system parameters are optimized, and the scheme design is carried out. The conversion efficiency of the acquisition mechanism and the energy collection efficiency under different sea conditions are calculated. The motion response of the acquisition mechanism is simulated and analyzed by MATLAB and AQWA software. Research Results: The results show that the response of the crank and swing slider acquisition mechanism is fast and stable, and the average conversion efficiency is 34%. Based on the shortcomings of traditional bolts in the process of supporting surrounding rock, the structural composition and working principle of new bolts have been studied in detail. The working principle of the new bolt is divided into the elastic deformation stage and slip stage, and the energy constitutive equation of the corresponding stage is analysed. Then, Abaqus software is used to numerically simulate the working state of the bolt under static tension. With increasing drawing load, the maximum axial stress of the bolt and the von Mises stress of the surrounding rock first increased and then tended to stabilize, and the maximum axial displacement of the bolt gradually increased. The axial stress of the bolt was concentrated at the damping module, and the stress was mainly concentrated at the front damping module. The deformation of the bolt is mainly concentrated in the damping module of the first section, and the deformation of the bolt decreases rapidly with increasing anchoring depth. On-site pull-out tests confirmed that the drawing force of the new bolt increased by 128% and 24% compared with that of the pipe bolt and the left handed without longitudinal rebar bolt, respectively. The transition to renewable energy sources is critical for sustainable development, yet integrating these sources into existing power systems poses significant challenges. Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are essential in enhancing the reliability and efficiency of renewable energy systems. Despite growing research, a comprehensive scientometric analysis mapping development and trends in this field is lacking. This study addresses this gap by conducting a detailed scientometric analysis of power systems and new energy research from 2014 to 2023. The novelty of this study lies in its systematic use of advanced bibliometric tools to provide a thorough analysis of the research landscape. Utilizing 425 research articles from the Web of Science database, the study employs CiteSpace to visualize academic networks, identify research hotspots, and outline current trends. Specific methodologies include burst detection to identify significant shifts in research focus, centrality measurement to determine the influence of key studies, and heterogeneous network analysis to map the interconnectedness of various research themes. The analysis reveals extensive international collaborations, with China leading in publication volume (344 articles) and centrality (0.69), followed by the United States (29 articles, centrality 0.53). Significant contributions come from institutions like North China Electric Power University, China Electric Power Research Institute, and Tsinghua University. The findings underscore the importance of international cooperation and the need for broader geographical representation in this research field. This study provides valuable insights into the evolution and current state of power systems and renewable energy research, offering essential guidance for future research and development. The results highlight the critical role of ESS in the transition to renewable energy and suggest directions for future investigations, particularly focusing on enhancing ESS efficiency and reliability and expanding international research collaborations. Linear Fresnel concentrators (LFR) are widely seen by the scientific community as one of the most promising systems for the production of solar energy via thermal plants or concentrated photovoltaics. The produced energy depends on the optical efficiency of the LFR, which is mainly dictated by the geometry of the plant. For this reason, the analysis of LFR geometry and its effects on optical behavior is a crucial step in the design and optimization of a Fresnel plant. The theoretical and computational tools used to model the optics of a LFR are fundamental in research on energy production. In this review, geometrical aspects of the optics of linear Fresnel concentrators are presented, with a detailed discussion of the parameters required to define the geometry of a plant and of the main optical concepts. After an overview of the literature on the subject, the main part of the review is dedicated to summarising useful formulas and outlining general procedures for optical simulations. The development of a novel method for modelling fluid flow and heat transfer in naturally fractured geothermal reservoirs represents a significant advancement in geothermal energy research. This Study presents a hybrid approach, which combines discrete fracture and single continuum techniques, to effectively capture the complex interactions between fluid flow and heat transfer in geothermal fractured reservoirs. In addition, the incorporation of the local thermal nonequilibrium method for simulating heat transmission accounts for the disparities in temperature between the rock matrix and the fluid, providing a more realistic representation of heat transfer processes. The study also presents a fully coupled thermo-poro-elastic framework that integrates fluid flow and heat transfer to comprehensively evaluate reservoir responses to injection/production scenarios. This coupled approach allows for the prediction of changes in reservoir properties, such as permeability and porosity, under varying fluid pressure and temperature conditions. The application of the proposed model to evaluate a geothermal reservoir's long-term response to injection/production scenarios provides valuable insights into the reservoir's behaviour and potential energy production capacity. The sensitivity analysis further enhances the model's utility by identifying the key reservoir parameters that significantly influence the thermal depletion of the reservoir. Overall, this novel modelling approach holds promise for improving the understanding and management of naturally fractured geothermal reservoirs, contributing to the optimization of geothermal energy extraction strategies. Due to the EV (Electric Vehicles) charging stations are characterized by weak damping and low inertia, the EV with a high degree of uncertainty can easily have an impact on the stability of the charging station system. Therefore, this paper proposes an optimization control method to improve the system inertia effect based on the fractional order impedance model of the charging station. This paper presents a study on establishing a fractional impedance model for charging stations, using the deviation between theoretical impedance spectra and actual measurements as a criterion. The goal is to enhance system inertia and optimize the parameters of the fractional-order controller to improve the supporting capacity of the charging station system and enhance its dynamic response. Initially, considering the fractional characteristics of the EV load, a fractional impedance model of the charging station is established. The analysis demonstrates that the fractional-order capacitor provides inertia to the system, enhancing its inertia support capability. In addition, a virtual inertia control strategy based on fractional-order PID (FOPID) is designed. Finally, an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is utilized to optimize the control parameters. Through experimental verification under different operating conditions, it has been demonstrated that the fractional-order control strategy can achieve a dynamic response time of approximately 0.025s and limit the voltage deviation within 5%. Furthermore, the rotational inertia can rapidly increase to the maximum value satisfying the objective function within 0.05s. solve the problem of ice forming on the top of the tunnel and achieve more efficient and convenient de-icing, we designed a tunnel laser de-icing device. First, Solidworks software was used to create a 3D model of the laser de-icing device, namely the track module, the base platform, and the work platform. Then, ANSYS simulation software is used to simulate the process of laser de-icing. When the initial temperature of the icicle is -5 °C, -10 °C, -15 °C and -20 °C, the distance between the laser and icicle is 1.5 m, 2 m, 2.5 m, and 3 m, and the wind speed is 2 m/s, 3 m/s, 4 m/s and 5 m/s, respectively. The depth of 200 s of laser irradiation and the time of full penetration were simulated under three variables. It is concluded that the higher the initial temperature, the closer the distance and the smaller the wind speed, the lower the de-icing energy consumption. Finally, the experiment results are consistent with the simulation results, which further verifies the accuracy of the simulation. The laser de-icing detection device studied in this paper provides a certain theoretical basis and reference value for the application and development of intelligent de-icing equipment in tunnels. This paper explores an interesting approach to wind energy technology, focusing on a novel type of drag-driven vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWTs). Studied geometries employ rotor-shaped cross-sections, presenting a distinctive approach to harnessing wind energy efficiently. The rotor-shaped cross-section geometries are examined for their aerodynamic efficiency, showcasing the meticulous engineering behind this innovation. The drag-driven turbine shapes are analyzed for their ability to maximize energy extraction in a variety of wind conditions. A significant aspect of these turbines is their adaptability for diverse applications. This article discusses the feasibility and advantages of utilizing these VAWTs in fence configurations, offering an innovative integration of renewable energy generation with physical infrastructure. The scalability of the turbines is highlighted, enabling their deployment as a fence around residential properties or as separators between highway lanes and as energy-generating structures atop buildings. The scientific findings presented in this article contribute valuable insights into the technological advancements of rotor-shaped VAWTs and their potential impact on decentralized wind energy generation. The scalable and versatile nature of these turbines opens up new possibilities for sustainable energy solutions in both urban and residential settings, marking a significant step forward in the field of renewable energy research and technology. In particular, it was shown that among the proposed rotor geometries, the five-blade rotor was characterized by the highest efficiency and, working in a palisade configuration with a spacing of 10 mm to 20 mm, produced higher average values of the torque coefficient than the corresponding Savonius turbine. The conversion of lignite into biomethane is of great significance in the field of energy research. However, the yield of biomethane is low. To improve the biomethane yield from lignite, the effects of ultrafine grinding lignite on the biomethanation fermentation system were analyzed. The daily biomethane yield, total biomethane yield, pH, glucose concentration, and volatile fatty acid concentration of lignite were used to determine the optimum particle size of lignite. The results demonstrated that the total biomethane yield of the fermentation group with ultrafine grinding lignite was 14.69 mL·g−1 at a reaction temperature of 50°C and a biomethane fermentation time of 39 d. This was 36.91, 33.42, and 26.75% higher than that of the 40, 150, and 250 mesh lignite biomethane fermentation groups, respectively. The daily biomethane yield reached the peak of the ultrafine grinding lignite fermentation group 1.30 mL·g−1 on the second day, which was 1.96, 1.63, and 1.04 times higher than that of the 40, 150, and 250 mesh lignite fermentation systems, respectively. The research demonstrated that ultrafine grinding of lignite can effectively increase the biomethane yield. This provides an effective method for improving the yield of biomethane from lignite. This paper presents the design and implementation of the hardware and control strategies of an electrohydraulic air load simulation system for testing aerospace actuators. The system is part of an Iron Bird, which is an energy management research platform developed in collaboration between Saab AB and Linköping University. The purpose of the air load system is to provide realistic forces on the test object through the integration of a flight simulator for full mission evaluation. The challenge with electrohydraulic force control is tackled by increasing the hydraulic capacitance from increased load cylinder dead volumes, together with a feed-forward link based on accurate modelling of the test object and load system by adopting an optimisation routine to find model parameters. The system is implemented for both an electromechanical and servohydraulic actuator as test objects with different performance requirements. The control design is based on nonlinear and linear modelling of the system, and experimental test data are used to tune the models. Entrepreneurial energy, the level of energetic activation that a founder feels for building their venture, is an important indicator of a founder's well-being. Changes in entrepreneurial energy have wide-ranging consequences for both founders and their ventures, yet much remains to be learned about how and why such fluctuations might occur, as well as the role of social dynamics in influencing fluctuations in entrepreneurial energy. To investigate these questions, we draw on longitudinal data from 38 founders, developing a dynamic model of entrepreneurial energy.
