The article reports that upward growing roots have been observed around rhizomatous wetland palm Acoelorrhaphe wrightii in the U.S. Topics discussed include growth of Acoelorrhaphe wrightii around the Caribbean basin in flooded habitats; anatomical analysis showing that upwardgrowing roots have large air channels and pneumathodes meaning that they are pneumatophores; and other characteristics of pneumatophores such as presence of pneumathodes and pneumatozones and aerenchyma tissue.
