Con el desarrollo de esta investigación, se llevaron a cabo dos talleres con actividades experimentales, adoptando un enfoque desde las aplicaciones físicas para abarcar el estudio de las integrales triples e integrales de línea en el contexto educativo. Estos talleres se diseñaron con el objetivo de explorar cómo la aplicación de conceptos físicos puede enriquecer y facilitar la comprensión de temas matemáticos avanzados. La investigación propuesta se enmarca en un estudio cuantitativo de laboratorio, que se medió a través de unas pruebas pretest y postest, permitiendo evaluar la ganancia conceptual utilizando el método de Hake, así como realizar pruebas de hipótesis y análisis de parámetros estadísticos. Además de las evaluaciones cuantitativas, se empleó un diferencial semántico para medir aspectos relacionados con la actitud de los participantes hacia el aprendizaje de las integrales triples y de línea. Estos instrumentos de medición proporcionaron una visión integral del impacto de las actividades experimentales en el proceso de aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Los resultados obtenidos revelaron que las aplicaciones físicas experimentales pueden ser una estrategia pedagógica efectiva para enseñar y aprender conceptos avanzados de cálculo, como las integrales triples y de línea. Además, se evidenció su potencial para promover un aprendizaje más significativo y duradero para el estudiante, al proporcionar una comprensión más profunda y una mayor conexión con el mundo real de los fenómenos físicos. Estos hallazgos sugieren la importancia de integrar actividades experimentales en el pro- ceso de enseñanza de las matemáticas, especialmente en áreas que requieren un enfoque más abstracto y teórico.

RESUMEN: Introducción/Objetivo: el engagement laboral es un concepto complejo y multifacético que integra dimensiones como el compromiso, la motivación y la conexión emocional que un empleado desarrolla con su trabajo y organización. Este estudio tiene como objetivo explorar las tendencias y los factores que influyen en el engagement laboral en el contexto actual. Metodología: se realizó un mapeo sistemático en la base de datos Scopus para identificar y analizar estudios empíricos y de revisión relacionados con el engagement laboral. La búsqueda bibliográfica se enfocó en estudios publicados entre el 2018 y el 2022, y 308 documentos fueron utilizados para el estudio. Se aplicaron criterios de inclusión y exclusión rigurosos para asegurar la relevancia y calidad de los estudios seleccionados. Resultados: el análisis bibliométrico revela un creciente interés en la investigación sobre el engagement laboral, con una producción científica notable en varios países y autores clave en el campo. Factores como el apoyo organizacional, la satisfacción laboral y el balance entre trabajo y vida personal han sido identificados como influencias significativas en el engagement laboral. Además, la evolución del engagement ha resaltado su importancia en la gestión de recursos humanos y la cultura organizacional, así como la influencia de la tecnología y la flexibilidad laboral en su definición moderna. Conclusiones: el engagement laboral en la Era Moderna trasciende visiones limitadas a funciones individuales o beneficios económicos, y abarca elementos que conforman una experiencia laboral enriquecedora y alineada con un propósito colectivo. Este enfoque holístico es crucial para impulsar la productividad, la innovación y la retención de talento en un mercado competitivo, el cual sienta las bases para una cultura organizacional ágil y preparada para el futuro. Próximas investigaciones deben explorar más a fondo las dimensiones del engagement y su impacto en el desempeño organizacional. ABSTRACT: Introduction/Objective: Employee engagement is a complex and multifaceted concept that integrates dimensions such as commitment, motivation, and the emotional connection an employee develops with their work and organization. This study aims to explore the trends and factors influencing employee engagement in the current context Methodology: A systematic mapping was conducted in the Scopus database to identify and analyse empirical and review studies related to employee engagement. The literature search focused on studies published between 2018 and 2022, with 308 documents used for the study. Rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria, based on predefined parameters, were applied to ensure the relevance and quality of the selected studies. Results: The bibliometric analysis reveals a growing interest in research on employee engagement, with notable scientific production in various countries and key authors in the field. Factors such as organizational support, job satisfaction, and work-life balance have been identified as significant influences on employee engagement. Additionally, the evolution of engagement has highlighted its importance in human resource management and organizational culture, as well as the influence of technology and work flexibility in its modern definition. Conclusions: Employee engagement in the modern era transcends limited views to individual roles or economic benefits, encompassing elements that form an enriching work experience aligned with a collective purpose. This holistic approach is crucial for driving productivity, innovation, and talent retention in a competitive market, laying the foundations for an agile and future-ready organizational culture. Future research should further explore the dimensions of engagement and its impact on organizational performance.

Abstract Seagrasses are undergoing widespread loss due to anthropogenic pressure and climate change. Since 1960, the Mediterranean seascape lost 13–50% of the areal extent of its dominant and endemic seagrass-Posidonia oceanica, which regulates its ecosystem. Many conservation and restoration projects failed due to poor site selection and lack of long-term monitoring. Here, we present a fast and efficient operational approach based on a deep-learning artificial intelligence model using Sentinel-2 data to map the spatial extent of the meadows, enabling short and long-term monitoring, and identifying the impacts of natural and human-induced stressors and changes at different timescales. We apply ACOLITE atmospheric correction to the satellite data and use the output to train the model along with the ancillary data and therefore, map the extent of the meadows. We apply noise-removing filters to enhance the map quality. We obtain 74–92% of overall accuracy, 72–91% of user’s accuracy, and 81–92% of producer’s accuracy, where high accuracies are observed at 0–25 m depth. Our model is easily adaptable to other regions and can produce maps in in-situ data-scarce regions, providing a first-hand overview. Our approach can be a support to the Mediterranean Posidonia Network, which brings together different stakeholders such as authorities, scientists, international environmental organizations, professionals including yachting agents and marinas from the Mediterranean countries to protect all P. oceanica meadows in the Mediterranean Sea by 2030 and increase each country’s capability to protect these meadows by providing accurate and up-to-date maps to prevent its future degradation.

The main objective of this paper is to build a diagnosis of the current state of the local legal reality (Monteria and the department of Cordoba) regarding consumer law (identification of the most urgent and complex problems and the type of solutions they are currently subject to) in order to define lines of work in strategic litigation. Thus, the methodology used was to observe and analyze the repeated consultations to the Consumers League UPB Monteria of users’ victims of impersonation (2019 to 2021), giving rise to this article in which a study is conducted ranging from the conceptual examination of the protection of personal data, the contractual modality used and impersonation, to the analysis of all related rules. The main findings allow identifying situations in which, due to the improper handling of the personal information of the subscribers of a contract that is generally of adhesion, they have been exposed to indiscriminate or improper use by malicious third parties without giving full compliance with the duties of protection and implementation of security protocols by the companies to ensure the proper custody of personal data, which in practice leaves the consumer exposed to various risks regarding the use of their personal information.

Accurately forecasting energy metrics is essential for efficiently managing renewable energy generation. Given the high variability in load and renewable energy power output, this represents a crucial area of research in order to pave the way for increased adoption of low-carbon energy solutions. Whilst the impact of different neural network architectures and algorithmic approaches has been researched extensively, the impact of utilising additional weather variables in forecasts have received far less attention. This article demonstrates that weather variables can have a significant influence on energy forecasting and presents methodologies for using these variables within a long short-term memory (LSTM) architecture to achieve improvements in forecasting accuracy. Moreover, we introduce the use of the seasonal components of the target time series, as exogenous variables, that are also observed to increase accuracy. Load, solar and wind generation time series were forecast one hour ahead using an LSTM architecture. Time series data were collected in five Spanish cities and aggregated for analysis, alongside five exogenous weather variables, also recorded in Spain. A variety of LSTM architectures and hyperparameters were investigated. By tuning exogenous weather variables, a 33% decrease in mean squared error was observed for solar generation forecasting. A 22% decrease in mean absolute squared error (MASE), compared to 24-h ahead forecasts made by the Transmission Service Operator (TSO) in Spain, was also observed for solar generation. Compared to using the target variable in isolation, utilising exogenous weather variables decreased MASE by approximately 10%, 15% and 12% for load, solar and wind generation, respectively. By using the seasonal component of the target variables as an exogenous variable itself, we demonstrated decreases in MASE of 19%, 12% and 8% for load, solar and wind generation, respectively. These results emphasise the significant benefits of incorporating weather and seasonal components into energy-related time series forecasts.

El presente artículo supone una contribución al tema del título. En él se hace referencia a la obra de Almodóvar en las últimas cuatro décadas como ejemplo y paradigma del cine español, siendo tal vez su director con más éxito público y de crítica, amén de algunos Oscars para él y sus colaboradores. La medicina juega en su obra un importante papel: médicos y enfermeras, pacientes y transexuales, drogas y drogodependientes, hospitales y ambulatorios aparecen en sus películas. Madrid y Barcelona, así como La Coruña, son las provincias en las que se desarrollan sus narraciones cinematográficas. Las protagonistas femeninas abundan en su filmografía: Marisa Paredes, Penélope Cruz y otras aparecen con frecuencia y de forma repetida. En general, la época suele ser la contemporánea a la de su realización, con alguna excepción referida a 1970. Antonio Banderas es otro de sus actores fetiche, apareciendo en varias ocasiones como médico.

Existen diversos diagnósticos clínicos diferenciales de lesiones infectocontagiosas peribucales en la infancia, siendo las más frecuentes: herpes labial, queilitis angular (queilocandidiasis) e impétigo, esta última es una infección bacteriana prevalente en población infantil, afectando la región labial y peribucal, cuyo diagnóstico está principalmente basado en los hallazgos clínicos y en el análisis minucioso de la anamnesis. Objetivo: Presentar dos casos clínicos de impétigo ampolloso en pacientes pediátricos, destacando sus características, comparándolas y contrastándolas con sus principales diagnósticos diferenciales. Reporte de casos. Se presentan dos casos de pacientes masculinos de 10 años (hermanos gemelos) con antecedentes de secuencia de Pierre Robin, los cuales acudieron a la clínica de Odontopediatría de la ENES, UNAM, unidad León, presentando múltiples lesiones ulcerativas, localizadas área peribucal, refiriendo dos semanas de evolución. Diagnóstico. Se estableció el diagnóstico clínico de: impétigo ampolloso, para ambos pacientes. Plan de tratamiento. Se indicaron medidas estrictas de higiene general y en las zonas afectadas, eliminando también cualquier objeto que actuara como fómite, evitando compartir productos de aseo personal, además, se indicó la aplicación de mupirocina en crema al 2%, llevándose a cabo el seguimiento a los 14 y 30 días hasta la curación completa. Conclusiones. El impétigo peribucal es frecuentemente confundido con otras infecciones presentes en esa localización con manifestaciones clínicas semejantes en algunos casos suele ser tratado erróneamente. Por lo que se destaca la importancia de realizar un adecuado interrogatorio, una exploración clínica concienzuda y realizar un análisis diferencial clínico en este tipo de lesiones.

Abstract The rise of microgrid‐based architectures is modifying significantly the energy control landscape in distribution systems, making distributed control mechanisms necessary to ensure reliable power system operations. In this article, the use of Reinforcement Learning techniques is proposed to implement load frequency control (LFC) without requiring a central authority. To this end, a detailed model of power system dynamic behaviour is formulated by representing individual generator dynamics, generator rate and network constraints, renewable‐based generation, and realistic load realisations. The LFC problem is recast as a Markov Decision Process, and the Multi‐Agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient algorithm is used to approximate the optimal solution of all LFC layers, that is, primary, secondary and tertiary. The proposed LFC framework operates through centralised learning and distributed implementation. In particular, there is no information interchange between generating units during operation. Thus, no communication infrastructure is necessary and information privacy between them is respected. The proposed framework is validated through numerical results and it is shown that it can be used to implement LFC in a distributed and cost‐efficient manner.

El artículo analiza el comportamiento de deslizamientos en rocas caracterizadas por el predominio de su componente arcillosa y por una tipología de movimientos que se explican por el agotamiento de la resistencia al esfuerzo cortante en superficies o bandas de pequeño espesor. El artículo se centra en primeras roturas y, posteriormente, en el efecto de los planos de corte internos que se desarrollan por compatibilidad de movimiento. Las primeras roturas en materiales que exhiben un comportamiento de reblandecimiento bajo tensión están generalmente precedidas por un mecanismo de rotura progresiva seguido de un movimiento acelerado. El tipo de solicitación exterior (carga, descarga, cambio en presiones intersticiales) controla el mecanismo de rotura y su evolución. Ello se ilustra en varios ejemplos de roturas (Selborne, Viladesens, Sabadell, Aznalcóllar). Por otro lado, mediante análisis de sensibilidad utilizando el “método del punto material”, se muestra que el desplazamiento esperable depende del Índice de Fragilidad de la roca arcillosa. La geometría de las superficies de deslizamiento, a menudo consecuencia de la geología y los planos o estratos de debilidad, determina la evolución del movimiento y el desarrollo de superficies de corte en el interior de la masa movilizada que cruzan los planos de sedimentación. Este aspecto se analiza mediante ejemplos de deslizamientos compuestos y el caso del deslizamiento de Cortes (Valencia).

Perchlorate anions are produced by chemical industries and are important contaminants in certain natural ecosystems. Perchlorate also occurs in some natural and uncontaminated environments such as the Atacama Desert, the high Arctic or the Antarctic Dry Valleys, and is especially abundant on the surface of Mars. As some bacterial strains are capable of using perchlorate as an electron acceptor under anaerobic conditions, their detection is relevant for environmental monitoring on Earth as well as for the search for life on Mars. We have developed an antibody microarray with 20 polyclonal antibodies to detect perchlorate-reducing bacteria (PRB) strains and two crucial and highly conserved enzymes involved in perchlorate respiration: perchlorate reductase and chlorite dismutase. We determined the cross-reactivity, the working concentration, and the limit of detection of each antibody individually and in a multiplex format by Fluorescent Sandwich Microarray Immunoassay. Although most of them exhibited relatively high sensitivity and specificity, we applied a deconvolution method based on graph theory to discriminate between specific signals and cross-reactions from related microorganisms. We validated the system by analyzing multiple bacterial isolates, crude extracts from contaminated reactors and salt-rich natural samples from the high Arctic. The PRB detecting chip (PRBCHIP) allowed us to detect and classify environmental isolates as well as to detect similar strains by using crude extracts obtained from 0.5 g even from soils with low organic-matter levels (

La Democracia deliberativa aborda, entre sus principales desafíos, a las limitaciones comunicacionales contemporáneas que genera la emergencia de las TIC. El escenario que impone la pandemia en curso modifica los comportamientos sociales y a los supuestos democráticos que la sostienen. Desde el estudio de caso del Uruguay se pretende analizar dichos impactos en la calidad democrática, su sistema comunicacional social y sus proyecciones de corto y mediano alcance.

Hand pose is emerging as an important interface for human–computer interaction. This study presents a data‐driven method to estimate a high‐quality depth map of a hand from a stereoscopic camera input by introducing a novel superpixel‐based regression framework that takes advantage of the smoothness of the depth surface of the hand. To this end, the authors introduce conditional regressive random forest (CRRF), a method that combines a conditional random field (CRF) and an RRF to model the mapping from a stereo red, green and blue image pair to a depth image. The RRF provides a unary term that adaptively selects different stereo‐matching measures as it implicitly determines matching pixels in a coarse‐to‐fine manner. While the RRF makes depth prediction for each superpixel independently, the CRF unifies the prediction of depth by modelling pairwise interactions between adjacent superpixels. Experimental results show that CRRF can generate a depth image more accurately than the leading contemporary techniques using an inexpensive stereo camera.

This paper investigates the classification of radiographic images with eleven convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures (GoogleNet, VGG-19, AlexNet, SqueezeNet, ResNet-18, Inception-v3, ResNet-50, VGG-16, ResNet-101, DenseNet-201 and Inception-ResNet-v2). The CNNs were used to classify a series of wrist radiographs from the Stanford Musculoskeletal Radiographs (MURA) dataset into two classes—normal and abnormal. The architectures were compared for different hyper-parameters against accuracy and Cohen’s kappa coefficient. The best two results were then explored with data augmentation. Without the use of augmentation, the best results were provided by Inception-ResNet-v2 (Mean accuracy = 0.723, Mean kappa = 0.506). These were significantly improved with augmentation to Inception-ResNet-v2 (Mean accuracy = 0.857, Mean kappa = 0.703). Finally, Class Activation Mapping was applied to interpret activation of the network against the location of an anomaly in the radiographs.

A study of the chert nodules found in the Escalada Formation (Carboniferous, Ponga region, Cantabrian Zone) was carried out as a means to characterise a number of lithic raw materials found in several prehistoric sites of the Cantabrian Mountains (NW Spain). This study comprises fieldwork aimed at locating the outcrops and obtaining samples. Some selected samples from two localities were used for both petrological (macroscopic and microscopic analyses from thin sections) and geochemical (X-ray fluorescence and powder diffraction) analysis. The macroscopic study shows a rather homogeneus coloration and a conchoidal fracture although two extreme types of cherts with a variety of intermediate forms can be differentiated according to the matrix composition. The microscopic analysis shows a high heterogeneity in carbonate versus silica percentage and gentle differences in some other features such as type of silica, origin of carbonates, occurrence of organic matter and type of skeletal components. The results of several geochemical analysis suggest that there are not geochemical features neither in the major elements nor in the traces that allows us to clearly distinguish between the analysed samples. All these studies allow us to define the main features of these chert nodules and to establish several types and varieties among them. Those varieties with high percentage of silica and with a more homogeneous matrix are the most suitable samples for knapping. These results together with the study of the geological and geographical location of archaeological sites suggest that the nodules from the Escalada Formation likely were lithic material supply sources used in knapping activities When aiming to demonstrate the use of these materials at archaeological sites the sole macroscopic analysis of the pieces does not suffice; further analyses, such as those involving thin sections, are necessary. The absence of chert from Escalada Formation in some Mesolithic sites in the area was confirmed via these additional analyses.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The delivery of cardiac patients is a challenge for the anaesthesiologist, to whom the welfare of both the mother and the foetus is a main issue. In case of caesarean section, advanced monitoring allows to optimize haemodynamic condition and to improve morbidity and mortality. OBJECTIVE: To describe the use of pulse contour analysis calibrated by Trans-pulmonar thermodilution (Picco Plus® for the perioperative management of a caesarean section in a patient with severe cardiomyopathy. CASE REPORT: We describe the case of a 28-year-old woman with a congenital heart disease who was submitted to a caesarean section under general anaesthesia for maternal pathology and foetal breech presentation. Intra- and post-operative management was optimized by advanced haemodynamic monitorization obtained by pulse contour wave analysis and thermodilution calibration (Picco Plus® monitor). The information about preload, myocardial contractility and postcharge was useful in guiding the fluid therapy and the use of vasoactive drugs. CONCLUSION: This case report illustrates the importance of advanced haemodynamic monitoring with an acceptably invasive device in obstetric patients with high cardiac risk. The increasing experience in advanced haemodynamic management will probably permit to decrease morbidity and mortality of obstetric patients in the future.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Aortic stenosis increases perioperative morbidity and mortality, perioperative invasive monitoring is advised for patients with an aortic valve area 30 mm Hg and it is important to avoid hypotension and arrhythmias. We report the anaesthetic management with continuous spinal anaesthesia and minimally invasive haemodynamic monitoring of two patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing surgical hip repair. CASE REPORT: Two women with severe aortic stenosis were scheduled for hip fracture repair. Continuous spinal anaesthesia with minimally invasive haemodynamic monitoring was used for anaesthetic management of both. Surgery was performed successfully after two consecutive doses of 2 mg of isobaric bupivacaine 0.5% in one of them and four consecutive doses in the other. Haemodynamic conditions remained stable throughout the intervention. Vital signs and haemodynamic parameters remained stable throughout the two interventions. CONCLUSION: Our report illustrates the use of continuous spinal anaesthesia with minimally invasive haemodynamic monitoring as a valid alternative to general or epidural anaesthesia in two patients with severe aortic stenosis who are undergoing lower limb surgery. However, controlled clinical trials would be required to establish that this technique is safe and effective in these type or patients.

En este artículo se presenta el caso uruguayo en relación a la aplicación de políticas públicas de comunicación y telecomunicaciones en los dos primeros gobiernos del Frente Amplio en Uruguay, entre los años 2005-2010 y 2010-2014. Se asume que este decenio fue el más activo en la productividad legal en materia de servicios de comunicación audiovisual, lo que no implica que esto se haya traducido en cambios significativos en el ecosistema de medios en este país.Debemos consignar que en este periodo se procesó la mayor transición tecnológica en las denominadas tecnologías convergentes, procediéndose a la instalación de la TV Digital y la implantación de un ambicioso programa de política de tendido de fibra óptica al hogar (FTTH) por parte de la empresa de telecomunicaciones estatal. La proactividad en materia regulatoria para los servicios de comunicación audiovisuales contrasta con la casi nula producción en materia convergente en un país que cuenta con un capital singular a escala regional, como es la de contar con la mayor empresa de telecomunicaciones en manos del Estado uruguayo.

This work introduces a comparative collection located in the Prehistory Laboratory at the University of León (Spain) specialised in knappable raw materials, mainly comprising radiolarite and black chert (micro-crypto crystalline quartz), from the western Cantabrian Mountains (north of Iberian Peninsula). A standardised protocol of sample collection and data organisation was developed, which includes the use of several methodologies. First, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for referencing lithic sources. Second, direct observation of the sample for the macroscopic characterization, both de visu and stereomicroscope. Third, petrographic microscopy for a description of main petrological, and palaeontological features, complemented with the identification of the different minerals that make up the samples by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Forth, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) and Thermogravimetry – Differential Scanning Calorimetry (TG-DSC) for geochemical and thermal features of the samples. Finally, the results of these analyses were entered in a database. All this information is contributing towards the creation of a physical reference collection specialised in local Palaeozoic formations (mostly from Devonian to Carboniferous) that outcrop in the western Cantabrian Mountains, a region whose potential resource base was previously not very well known. This collection would allow to compare archaeological lithic remains from different sites inside and outside the Cantabrian Mountains.

The La Balouta Valley, located in the extreme SW region of the Las Médulas Natural Monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site (León, Spain), is one of the largest gold-mining sites developed by the Romans more than 2,000 years ago when excavating a thick series of red Miocene sediments in the area. The main determining feature of the La Balouta Valley, especially if we compare it with the Sil River Valley of which it is a tributary, is its status of a non-functional valley. It is a dry paleo-valley with a flat bottom and is characterized by limited surface water runoff and the presence of small cavities, channels, and residual karst topography. Variscan structures that form the structural framework of the study area underwent long-term erosion and supported deep sediment accumulation in the area during the Miocene, reaching depths of more than 100 m. A portion of these sediments accumulated over a karst, as indicated by karst channels that exhibit total and locally partial filling with red sediments similar to those mined at Las Médulas roughly 2 km further to the east. The presence of gold particles in one of the sediment samples and the identification of several characteristics common of formations mined by the Romans lead us to deem the La Balouta Valley an ancient paleokarst that was initially fossilized by deposition of red Miocene sediments and subsequently excavated via historical mining activities, which formed its current characteristics. In La Balouta, natural and anthropogenic processes have produced a unique cultural landscape that is reflective of systematic gold mining of sediments on the NW Iberian Peninsula by the Romans.

RESUMO A miíase é a infestação dos tecidos humanos por larvas Diptera. O comprometimento ocular é raro. Os autores apresentam um caso de miíase na topografia do saco lacrimal e discutem as modalidades terapêuticas para o tratamento desta doença.

We report a 12-day-old male who was admitted with vomiting because of an unusual early complication of Marfan's syndrome (MS): a sliding hiatal hernia. Initial ultrasound showed no stomach at its normal position and the chest X-ray presented an intrathoracic gas bubble with the nasogastric tube inside. An upper gastrointestinal contrast study confirmed the complete herniation of the stomach into the thorax. Via an exploratory laparotomy it was carefully reintroduced into the abdomen, following a hiatal reconstruction. A Thal fundoplication and a gastrostomy were also performed to guarantee its fixation. Although characterized by cardiac/aortic abnormalities, MS should be considered in any infant with hiatal/paraesophageal hernia, which should be repaired early to avoid gastric ischemia/volvulus.

Landforms resulting from the interaction between paleo-glaciers and karst are studied by using the Sierra de los Grajos (Cantabrian Mountains) as a model. This area contains glacial landforms that have not interested geomorphologists due to their low altitude (Peña Castillo is about 1857 m a.s.l.), the absence of glacial cirques and the scarcity of large moraines. However, the prevalence of groundwater flow and chemical dissolution has favoured the preservation of glacial landforms. Lateral and frontal moraines show three main glacial stages and other minor glacier stabilization phases, with the paleo-ELA oscillating between 1650 and 1760 m. Moraines are combined with depressions and sinks resulting from subglacial karstic drainage. This convergence of forms and processes is an exception in the Cantabrian Mountains, where postglacial erosion has usually eroded the frontal moraines and the proglacial sediments. In the case of the Sierra de los Grajos, despite the underground drainage and preservation of many glacial deposits on karstic landforms, an outwash-plain was formed. These proglacial sediments and others from non-karstified areas filled the depressions of the preglacial terrain located at their edges. The main glaciokarstic landforms have been mapped and a sedimentological analysis of the outwash plain was made in order to reconstruct the glacial dynamics of this area. Glaciokraški relief na območju Sierra de los Grajos v parku Babia in luna (Kantabrijsko gorovje, SZ Španija) Na območju Sierra de los Grajos (Kantabrijsko gorovje) smo raziskovali relief, ki je v preteklosti nastal z medsebojnim vplivanjem kraških in ledeniških procesov. Zaradi nizke nadmorske višine (Peña Castillo je le 1857 m nad morjem) ter odsotnosti velikih moren in krnic to območje geomorfologov do sedaj ni posebej zanimalo. Prav kraški procesi in z njimi povezano podzemno odtekanje so tu omogočili ohranitev ledeniških oblik. Bočne in čelne morene kažejo na tri glavne faze poledenitev in več manjših faz stabilizacije ledenikov z ravnovesno mejo (ELA) med 1650 in 1760 m.n.m. Morene so pogosto vezane na kraške globeli. Glaciokraške pojave najdemo le na tem območju Kantabrijskega gorovja, kjer je sicer poledeniška erozija odstranila čelne morene in proglacialne sedimente. Kljub podzemnemu odtoku in ohranitvi številnih ledeniških sedimentov na kraškem reliefu se je na Sierra de los Grajos oblikoval predledeniški vršaj (sander). Proglacialni sedimenti in sedimenti iz nekraških območij so zapolnili globeli v predledeniškem kraškem terenu. Kartiranje glaciokraških reliefnih in analiza sedimentov predledeniških vršajev sta nam omogočila rekonstrukcijo dinamike ledenika na obravnavanem območju. Computational models of classical conditioning have made significant contributions to the theoretic understanding of associative learning, yet they still struggle when the temporal aspects of conditioning are taken into account. Interval timing models have contributed a rich variety of time representations and provided accurate predictions for the timing of responses, but they usually have little to say about associative learning. In this article we present a unified model of conditioning and timing that is based on the influential Rescorla-Wagner conditioning model and the more recently developed Timing Drift-Diffusion model. We test the model by simulating 10 experimental phenomena and show that it can provide an adequate account for 8, and a partial account for the other 2. We argue that the model can account for more phenomena in the chosen set than these other similar in scope models: CSC-TD, MS-TD, Learning to Time and Modular Theory. A comparison and analysis of the mechanisms in these models is provided, with a focus on the types of time representation and associative learning rule used.

The so-called “Mucientes chert" is a variety that appears in the central area of the Iberian North Plateau, in theDueroBasin. It is widely known in the geological and archaeological literature and its use for knapping was especially important in Prehistory. From a macroscopic point of view it is a nodular chert, with white and very porous cortex, and brown to blackish or beige colour in the inner part. In this work we carried out a more accurate petrographic, mineralogical and chemical characterization of this lithology using SEM, XRD and XRF techniques in samples coming from “Las Canteras” (Mucientes village), a chert outcrop of the “Cuestas” Unit (Vallesian-Aragonian, Miocene Age). Also, we have made a review of its geological occurrence and archaeological distribution areas. It is intended to sketch the delimitation of the geographical area of occurrence taking into account the geological and archaeological references.

Traditionally, fault diagnosis in telecommunication network management is carried out by humans who use software support systems. The phenomenal growth in telecommunication networks has nonetheless triggered the interest in more autonomous approaches, capable of coping with emergent challenges such as the need to diagnose faults’ root causes under uncertainty in geographically-distributed environments, with restrictions on data privacy. In this paper, we present a framework for distributed fault diagnosis under uncertainty based on an argumentative framework for multi-agent systems. In our approach, agents collaborate to reach conclusions by arguing in unpredictable scenarios. The observations collected from the network are used to infer possible fault root causes using Bayesian networks as causal models for the diagnosis process. Hypotheses about those fault root causes are discussed by agents in an argumentative dialogue to achieve a reliable conclusion. During that dialogue, agents handle the uncertainty of the diagnosis process, taking care of keeping data privacy among them. The proposed approach is compared against existing alternatives using benchmark multi-domain datasets. Moreover, we include data collected from a previous fault diagnosis system running in a telecommunication network for one and a half years. Results show that the proposed approach is suitable for the motivational scenario.

A visible light communication (VLC) system using an organic bulk heterojunction photodetector (OPD) is presented. The system has been successfully proven indoors with an audio signal. The emitter consists of three commercial high-power white LEDs connected in parallel. The receiver is based on an organic photodetector having as active layer a blend of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). The OPD is opto-electrically characterized, showing a responsivity of 0.18 A/W and a modulation response of 790 kHz at −6 V.

This paper presents a novel representational framework for the Temporal Difference (TD) model of learning, which allows the computation of configural stimuli--cumulative compounds of stimuli that generate perceptual emergents known as configural cues. This Simultaneous and Serial Configural-cue Compound Stimuli Temporal Difference model (SSCC TD) can model both simultaneous and serial stimulus compounds, as well as compounds including the experimental context. This modification significantly broadens the range of phenomena which the TD paradigm can explain, and allows it to predict phenomena which traditional TD solutions cannot, particularly effects that depend on compound stimuli functioning as a whole, such as pattern learning and serial structural discriminations, and context-related effects.
