This paper presents a research experience in secondary schools that develop educational projects of a participatory and transformative nature. This contribution arises from the new educational needs emanating from augmented society and multiple literacies that transform communication and the circulation of knowledge, challenging conventional educational methods. An ethnography was carried out in two secondary schools, one in a rural environment and the other in a metropolitan area. The results are organised around the notion of community; the management processes and shared leadership; and the transformative pedagogical processes that are being developed. We conclude that the Spanish secondary school context is still based on practices centred on content and masterly methodologies; this leads us to understand that the mentioned schools, as disruptive experiences, promote a change towards a curriculum centred on the participation and interests of the students; horizontal and cooperative management practices; a strong sense of community; among others. INTELLIGENT personal assistants ,MULTIPLE regression analysis ,COMPUTERS ,EDUCATIONAL background ,GENDER inequality - Abstract
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of digital resources and virtual platforms is even more essential to continue the educational process, either in person or online, affecting all the members involved in the teaching–learning process of the students. Therefore, this study is aimed: (1) to know and compare the digital competence of the agents that are the main integrators of the educational community (parents, teachers, students) about the use of the computers, according to gender and educational stage (Pre-school, Primary and Secondary Education stages); and (2) to identify significant predictors that affect the acquisition of this competence. An ex-post-facto design was used with a sample of 786 participants from Andalusia (Spain). Research methods such as contrasts of means and multiple linear regression analysis were used. The results showed high average levels of basic digital competences for all the agents involved. A gender gap was found between mothers and fathers of students, with higher scores for the latter group. In addition, the use of videogames, the parents' academic background and the use of digital tablets or Google+ are the most significant predictors that affect the acquisition of this competence. This study explores Participatory Action Research (PAR) as a practice that promotes collaborative knowledge construction between researchers and participants. Within this framework, a PAR experience carried out for the transformation of a school in the province of Valencia (Spain) is explored. The aim is to analyse the shared construction of knowledge during the process and the changes produced through the perceptions of the educational community and the research group. From a qualitative methodology, a case study is elaborated through the analysis of documents produced during the research and ad hoc focus groups, and the data obtained are analysed following a mixed categorization. The results show that the shared construction of knowledge during PAR has led to the development of more horizontal roles and strategies between researchers and participants, and changes towards a new school model, for which the improvement of the participation of the agents involved has been key. Elements that invite reflection on the shared construction of knowledge through PAR are discussed, among which stand out the complexity of the researchers' task, the timing, the articulation of the students' voice and the relationship between the type of research carried out and the changes produced. Research–Practice Partnerships (RPPs) embody enduring collaborations between practitioners and researchers that systematically address practical challenges to enhance education. This study describes research conducted within the framework of an RPP in which researchers were united with an educational association tasked with leading a professional development program (PDP) for teachers serving youth at risk. This study focuses on demonstrating a model for evaluating the implementation of the program's educational philosophy among PDP participants. This comprehensive model comprises three interlinked components: cultivating awareness of the educational philosophy, fostering a profound comprehension of its principles, and facilitating the application of practices aligned with this philosophy. To investigate these dimensions, we drew upon data gathered through a survey administered to 140 educators and through in-depth interviews with 22 members of the educational staff. By examining these three pivotal components, we not only dissect the implementation process but also identify strengths and weaknesses, paving the way for a tailored intervention strategy. Beyond the immediate implications for program improvement, this research underscores the program's reciprocal benefits for both researchers and practitioners. It holds the potential to influence the professional development of those involved, concurrently enriching the broader research community with invaluable insights gained from real-world educational contexts. VIOLENCE , *HUMAN rights , *CONSTITUTIONALISM - Abstract
Since the "derechohumanista" reform to the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States of 2011, rules and principles have been incorporated that enhance the obligation for all Mexican authorities (including educational authorities) to promote, respect, protect, and guarantee human rights. Therefore, rebuilding educational processes on issues of gender violence is urgent and mandatory. But what has been the evolution of the right to education in Mexican constitutionalism? Knowing this progress is enriching and clarifying to understand how it has become a fundamental right. Furthermore, addressing this problem is essential to raise awareness of the evolution of the constitutional systems of the 19th and 20th centuries, and this will allow us to contextualize the problems of gender violence that currently exist in socioeducational communities. The objective of this article focuses on visualizing the historical and current perspectives that exist in the educational community on gender issues; with this, it will be possible to establish whether the Mexican legal provisions eliminating gender violence are complied with. As methodological validation, a survey instrument was applied to undergraduate students at the Autonomous University of Coahuila randomly. The results show the perspective of the students regarding the "relationship of gender violence in the educational community" and the "recognition of processes and products that eliminate gender violence". The above allows us to conclude that, from the perspective of the students, constitutional bodies turn out to be (mandatory) tools in education that eliminate gender violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HIGHER education , *UNIVERSITIES & colleges , *REFUGEES , *UKRAINIANS , *COLLEGE integration - Abstract
The impact of the war on higher education and research in Ukraine is devastating. A great many teachers, researchers and students had to flee ruined universities and research centres. Numerous universities worldwide have demonstrated solidarity with Ukrainian refugees. In an effort to develop effective support strategies, this study identifies specifics of migration from Ukraine caused by the war. The questionnaire was developed to conduct a survey among 26 Ukrainian faculties recently employed at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow (Poland). Respondents reported great satisfaction with integration strategies based on perfect intra-university collaboration and comprehensive individual approach. Four groups of challenges that can be influenced by an intervention at nation-wide, local and institutional levels were identified and then addressed in terms of empirical considerations, firsthand experience and survey findings. CORPORATE culture , *RARE diseases , *PARTICIPATORY culture , *EDUCATIONAL literature , *EDUCATIONAL planning , *COMMUNITY involvement - Abstract
By drawing on available scientific literature on the educational inclusion of students with Rare Diseases (RD) and on the guidelines in the current framework for the development of inclusive schools, this theoretical article presents some keys for the development of inclusive educational contexts that favour the learning and development of students with RD. An inclusive school is one that moves towards school success and combines quality with equity by developing an inclusive and participatory culture that recognises and respects diversity and promotes human differences as a value and a human right. The school system advances in inclusive practices to the extent that it overcomes the barriers that emerge from the structure of the centres and identifies, from scientific evidence, the facilitating factors for the development of inclusive educational practices, through the implementation of institutional cultures and school organisations that pursue the success of all students. It is concluded that the keys underlying educational contexts for pupils with RD involve the adoption of general measures at school level which promote the collaboration and participation of families and pupils, of other specialists, and of associations. Likewise, the complexity of the needs of pupils with RD requires a comprehensive educational response that must be jointly planned with the different services that attend these pupils, incorporating the necessary support to guarantee their presence, participation and educational achievement. COVID-19 pandemic , *PHILOSOPHY , *EDUCATION , *EMOTIONS , *GESTURE , *COMMUNICATION in education - Abstract
In this paper, I focus on teachers' lived experiences during the COVID-19 outbreak. Specifically, I explore the emotional impact the abrupt shift to online teaching had on teachers' work and life throughout the various phases of the lockdown. I develop my argument by analyzing teachers' everyday work, using a qualitative approach, and constructing a small-scale empirical study. Philosophically, my attempt is phenomenologically developed and is framed by Heidegger's and Arendt's thoughts. Methodologically, my attempt falls within an emerging research horizon that combines educational philosophy with empirical research. Drawing from research data, I argue that teachers' experience bears witness to a deep modification of the schooling space-time, namely, the horizon in which the very perception of students, themselves, and teaching arise. In the case of teachers experiencing discomfort, fear, and even angst, the totality of their gestures and emotions was, as it were, swallowed by this unknown and disquieting horizon; teachers in distress were experiencing the collapse of any projecting without being freed by projecting itself. In the case of teachers experiencing feelings of fulfillment and even joy, a different horizon was allowed to emerge. Such a different space-time, rather than producing a sense of distance and alienation, created a new intimacy and nearness, which allows for a different attitude toward the topics and the educational community. Students became more sensitive, susceptible to transformation, and open to what was being said. At the same time, relationships were caught in a new web of meanings that transcended them, thus giving birth to an educational experience in its own right. I conclude with some remarks about the building of the educational community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SERVICE learning , *EDUCATIONAL support , *COMMUNITY schools - Abstract
This article aims at highlighting how the pedagogical approach of Service Learning (SL) represents a useful contribution to the development of Learning Cities (LC), placing at the centre the school as an educational, social and cultural hub within the community, and the local authority to support the strengthening of educational and social networking. Starting from the general framework concerning the SL pedagogical approach and the identification of its identity elements, the possible connections with the characteristics of LCs are identified. To support these reflections, some experiences of SL implemented by the schools of the Indire Avanguardie Educative Movement are presented, with the aim of connecting school and community for reciprocal growth in terms of competence development and service implementation. The schools’ closure and the adoption of distance learning (DL) during the Covid-19 pandemic deeply changed Italian schools’ teaching and organizational practices. This article investigates how a micro-universe of four parents, seven teachers, and a school principal experienced and represented the role of the school during the first Covid-19 lockdown (March-June 2020). We analyzed the set of semi-structured interviews through Thematic Analysis (TA). We identified three cross-cutting representations: the school as an “educational community”, as a “guide”, and as a “place of care”. Despite its fading as a physical space, the teachers experienced the school as a place to build meaningful relationships, intensify communication with colleagues, and re-discover the collective dimension of teaching. The school principal’s leadership, which was oriented towards the inclusion and valuing of teachers’ skills, served as a professional guide and emotional support for the teaching staff.

The aim of the article is to interpret the discursive representations on the relations of Alterity of the groups of: Managers, classroom teachers, non-teaching professionals, parents and/or guardians and students. The method used was a case study of collective or multiple character to deepen the "proximities" and "discrepancies" of the phenomenon of interest to the researcher. The location of the study was two municipal schools and the time period was 2018. Its main finding reflects that both educational institutions do not understand Alterity and associate it with the concept of alternativity all groups to move towards a positive understanding of Alterity, as the articulating axis of a new school institution, must break the function of reproducing the normalising uniformity of the official host culture that welcomes. This article explores the research-action tools used for a Linguistic Inclusion path, performed at some primary and first level secondary schools in Turin during the school year. The authors allocate these instruments to a multi-disciplinary framework of anthropological, sociological and pedagogic concepts, such as Bonetti’s Relational Learning, Ward’s Education and Anarchism and Dolci’s Maieutic Method. From these, three categories arise: participation, collaboration and care tools. These latter carry two main objectives: to investigate the dynamics of the three macro-areas within the contexts in which they are used, and at the same time to take action on them, through the co-creation of new educational possibilities.

Reflecting on the definition of educational poverty proposed by Save the Children Italy in 2014, the article focuses on the experience of Don Giovanni Bosco, a forerunner in the prevention and fight against multiple forms of material and immaterial poverty. In the context of the nineteenth century’s socio-economic changes, the Piedmontese priest sensed that it was necessary to act on the educational front. The article highlights how Don Bosco, starting from his personal experience of deprivation, committed to ensuring a rich education and a solid educational community. His proposal for integral education is connected to professional training and integration in the workplace and it is noted how still is effective in germinating even minimal individual resources. It’s not easy to discuss, and think about the pedagogy when the nation suffers during the military conflict and invasion, which was the case of Poland during the Second World War – during such dramatic times the priority is survival. However, many years after the war, it is worth pointingout the effort and the dedication of teachers/educators who stayed with their students until the end. They remained in schools, orphanages and other educational institutions where kids could need them. Based on documents, literature and the personal experiencesof the author, the paper “Survive and save your identity” describes in a detail the activity of the Female Scouts who were the part of the RGO, an Organisation For the Youth of Warsaw in the years 1939-1945. The article manifests the importance of pedagogical and moral principles during the nations fight for survival.

- Abstract
The study focuses on improving communication at the University Institute of Central Mexico, Cordoba Campus, Veracruz, by fostering positive interpersonal relationships among students, teachers, and authorities. A non-experimental design was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, with a stratified probabilistic sample. Research techniques such as observation, interviews, and surveys were used. Achieving inclusive education is a primary challenge for the educational community. Inclusion refers to equal access to education—to the presence, participation and learning of all students. Offering an inclusive education requires all students to share time and space together in the mainstream classroom, that the educational community manifests a positive attitude towards diversity, and that educational centers plan to welcome diversity in their classrooms. The general objective of this study was to evaluate the inclusion of students with SEN enrolled in SOCs in mainstream schools based on their presence, the attitudes of the educational community and the planning processes developed. This was a descriptive study with a dominant status mixed design (QUAN-Qual). The population investigated in this research included the total number of SOCs of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (Spain) (n = 108). The sample obtained comprised 3.891 people belonging to 88 SOCs from 68 educational centers, which implies a confidence interval of 99% (Z = 2.576) and a margin of error of less than 5%. The data collection instruments used included seven questionnaires, adapted for the purposes of the study, for the quantitative phase, and semi-structured interviews, focus groups and discussion groups for the qualitative phase. The study results indicated that the attitudes of the educational community were the main determinant of inclusion. There is a need to reflect on and undertake actions to eliminate existing barriers to the operation of SOCs, since the involvement of students with SEN in the academic and social life of educational centers, and in mainstream classrooms, is not guaranteed. From the educational point of view, social outreach is related to activities and projects that link the academic work of the institution with teachers, parents, and students, aimed at contributing to the transformation of social and environmental realities. The experience was developed in Policarpa Salavarrieta Educational Institution based on Participatory Action Research, to contribute to environmental culture from the community social projection. A random convenience sample of 68 people was used; plenary sessions, interviews, and participant observation were carried out for the collection of information, which was systematized using the Atlas ti 7 software. From the analysis, the categories of environmental culture, environment and sustainable development and the subcategories of problems, attitude, and environmental education emerged, evidencing that the community manages conceptions of the environment from a naturalistic perspective, leaving aside the social and cultural environment, teachers do not discriminate the concepts of culture and environmental education and in students and parents, the category of ignorance emerged. Learning actions were developed and alternative solutions to the socio-environmental problems detected were proposed through recreational activities and theoretical-practical workshops on sustainable entrepreneurship. Attitudinal changes and participatory commitment were observed beyond the school environment which social appropriation of knowledge and the development of pro-environmentally sustainable values and behaviors, projecting the contribution to the family economy through the transformation of waste into eco-furniture and eco-pots. - Abstract
This article proposes and expounds a professional point of view on contemporary pedagogical knowledge and practices, focusing in particular on the centrality of the subjects in education. Pedagogical knowledge is in a state of 'uncertainty and precariousness', leaving open a number of core issues concerning educational, cultural and social models. The clarification of the 'precariousness' of educational work deserves to be acknowledged: uncertainty becomes a healthy weakness, as Sergio Tramma points out in 'L'educatore imperfetto', the 'unstable constitution' of the educational area is its intrinsic strength because it represents the constant openness to transformation, to possibility, to the reading of change. What tension should accompany the educational mission of professionals working in the field of social sciences, which values should accompany educational action, and, finally, which proposals can be activated to create a fertile pedagogical terrain harbinger of ideas? The paradigm of complexity that runs through 'social knowledge' should not only concern itself with the problems inherent to readings of the contemporary world, but also activate unexpected energies and resources, promoting a rethinking of the role of the competences of all the functions having an educational-social value (teacher, territorial educator, social worker, community animator, psychologist, mentor). The challenge is to generate theories and transformative experiences that can restore a leading role to the subjects in education, both in their individual as well as in their collective roles.
