Different aspects of diversity have been explored in order to assess whether preservice teachers are being prepared to meet the needs of their diverse student population. Diversity continues to be examined in a fragmented way by looking at issues separately. It seems necessary that prior to assessing preservice teachers' competence in diversity, teacher education programs be examined in their totality to determine whether they are addressing diversity in an effective manner.
