Bakgrund: ”Målstyrning tydliggör ställda krav, medger en riktig och effektiv resursanvändning, ger ett bättre verksamhetsresultat, ger alla anställda möjlighet att påverka sitt eget arbete, ger större ansvar åt den enskilde, skapar utrymme för anställdas kreativitet, initiativförmåga och delaktighet, höjer trivseln och förbättrar arbetsmiljön” (Svensson, 1993:21). Att döma av Svenssons ord framstår målstyrning som lösningen på företagsvärldens alla problem. Fairhurst (1996:11) som skriver om nyretorikens framing (inramning), drar i sin forskning slutsatsen att retorisk medvetenhet ökar sannolikheten för att nå mål. Men hur går det till i praktiken? Syfte: Vi vill med denna studie öka förståelsen för ledares styrning mot uppställda mål utifrån ett retoriskt perspektiv. Vår ingång för att skapa den här förståelsen är en flerfallstudie där vi följer två fotbollstränares medvetna och omedvetna framing i deras praktiska arbete, på match såväl träning. Metod: Kvalitativ flerfallstudie, med insamlad empiri utifrån icke-deltagande observationer samt semi-strukturerade intervjuer med spelare, tränare och ordföranden i två klubbar: Östers IF (Superettan) och Moheda IF (division 3). Slutsats: Ur ett nyretoriskt perspektiv försöker våra tränare se på världen utifrån sina spelares ögon och anpassar sin framing därefter. Prigoda undviker till exempel termen ”hänga kvar” (i division 3) och Björknesjö talar om att de ”bygger” (som i en process), eftersom båda är väl medvetna om vilka signaler de sänder ut. Ingen av dem är dock helt konsekventa i sin framing, vilket kan få oönskade effekter på sikt. Background: Research of management by objectives (MBO) tells us of many different causes in failed goal-settings. MacLeod (2012:70) writes that goals need to be reasonable and Latham (2004:127) emphasizes the importance of goal-commitment. Fairhurst (1996:11) concludes that conscious framing can assist the leader in increasing the likelihood of achieving goals. But how does it work in practice? Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to increase the understanding of how leaders are working toward goals, from a rhetorical perspective. Method: We have conducted observations and interviews with players and officials in two Swedish football clubs: Östers IF (Superettan) and Moheda IF (division 3). Conclusion: The coaches consciously choose words in goal setting according to how they are interpreted by the players. Prigoda is framing by avoiding terms like ”hang in” (to remain in their league) and Björknesjö primes himself and the players that they are still ”building” (as in a process). Both leaders are however inconsistent in their framing, which in the long term could lead to unwanted effects.

Bakgrund: 2010 presenterade SCB en undersökning om hur 403 000 jobb tillsattes (GP 2010). 79 000 av dessa tjänster tillsattes via personliga kontakter och ytterligare 100 000 där arbetsgivaren själv kontaktade den arbetssökande. Denna trend i användandet av det sociala kontaktnätet får stöd av Lena Hensvik, doktorand i nationalekonomi, i tidskriften Framtider (2012). Hon skriver att den sociala omgivningen såsom grannar, skolkamrater, tidigare kollegor och föräldrar har stor betydelse för hur vi får anställning eller inte. Hon menar att kontaktnätet är en viktig självinvestering då vårdandet av ens nätverk uppenbarligen kan underlätta jobbsökandet. Hensvik (2012) fortsätter skriva att det i dagens samhälle inte bara handlar om vem du är utan även vem du känner. Syfte: Tidigare forskning berättar att personliga kontakter är en av de faktorer som ökar anställningsbarheten. Vi vill därför ta vid där tidigare forskning slutar och göra en mer inriktad studie där vi fokuserar på personliga kontakter och kartlägger dess effekt i praktiken. Vi ämnar därför förklara personliga kontakters betydelse i samband med nyanställning av civilekonomer med examen från 2007-2012. Metod: Vi har valt att genomföra vår studie med en kvantitativ undersökningsdesign och ett deduktivt synsätt på relationen teori och forskning. Empiriska data har insamlats genom enkätundersökning. Slutsats: Vår slutsats är att personliga kontakter är användbara för civilekonomer i anställningsprocessen, att kontakterna till 90,4% leder dem till minst intervju och att kontakterna inte nödvändigtvis är de som är definierade som svaga, se Granovetters (1973, 1975) teorier om The Strength of Weak Ties. In the magazine Framtider (2012) she writes that the social environment such as neighbours, class mates, former colleagues and parents have a big impact if we get an employment or not. Hensvik (2012) says that the caring of ones contacts is an important self-investment that improves your probabilities of getting an employment. She continues writing that in today’s society it’s not only important who you are but also who you know. Purpose: Previous research tells that social contacts are one of the factors that will improve your probabilities of getting employed. We will continue where previous research tends to end and aim for a more focused study where we measure the effects of using contacts in reality. The purpose of this thesis is to explain the contacts’ importance when employing former students with a Degree of Master of Science in Business and Economics. Method: We have conducted a questionnaire survey that was sent out to eight Swedish universities resulting in 100 responses. Conclusion: We have come to the conclusion that social contacts contribute in the recruitment process of former business students, that the use of contacts in 90,4% will get you far in the job-seeking process and that the helpful contacts are not necessarily the ones defined as weak ties, of which Granovetter (1973, 1975) would have argued.

The present thesis deals with the development of a new type of dynamic model for metallurgical reactors. It also covers some of the theoretical aspects of steelmaking that is necessary to include in such an application. The thesis consists of modeling work, high temperature experiments and cold model experiments. Two different aspects of slags in the oxygen steelmaking were investigated. In the first study, slag samples were equilibrated with copper at 1923K in order to study their capacities in capturing phosphorous. Some of the samples were liquid-solid mixtures. The solid phases in these samples were identified by SEM analysis. The identified phases were found to agree well with Thermocalc calculations while the amount of solid fractions didn’t. The phosphorous distribution between the different phases was examined. The phosphate capacities of the samples were evaluated. The MgO content didn’t show any appreciable impact on the phosphate capacity. Furthermore the activities of FeO in the liquid slag samples were calculated and were found to deviate positively from ideality. In the second study the foaming height of CaO-SiO2-FeO slags by the reaction with hot metal was investigated. It was found that the foaming height increased with increasing FeO content up to 20-25%. The foaming height was seen to decrease with increased viscosity. The present results indicated that simply using foaming index for converter slag might lead to wrong conclusion. Simulation experiments using cold model at room temperature were conducted. Cold model experiments were carried out in order to study the penetration depth due to an impinging gas jet on the surface of a liquid metal. The liquid alloy Ga-In-Sn was used to simulate steel. And an HCl solution was used to simulate the slag. A comparison with predictions of existing models was made and a new model parameter was suggested. The observation of the movement of metal droplets generated by the gas jet was also made. The low velocity of droplets suggested that the turbulent viscosity played important role and the droplets could have long resident time in the slag. Furthermore a study of the effect of gas flow rate on homogenization and inclusion removal in a gas stirred ladle was carried out. Both industrial trials and cold model experiments were conducted. As an auxiliary tool CFD was used to predict the mixing times and was found to agree well with both the model experiments and industrial data. The increase of flow rate of inert gas would not improve the mixing substantially at higher flow rates. The water model study showed also that the gas flow rate had negligible effect on the rate of inclusion removal. Both the experiments and CFD calculation strongly suggested that low gas flow rate should be applied in the ladle treatment. Lastly a new approach to a dynamic process model of 300 ton BOF converter was made. The main feature was to utilize the velocity vectors obtained by CFD simulation. In the standalone model, the steel melt domain was sliced into 1000 cells. Based on the imported velocity vectors from the CFD calculation, the mass transfer of carbon and phosphorus was calculated taking into account the slag metal reactions. The mass exchange between slag and metal was considered to be dominated by the metal droplet formation due to oxygen jet. The convergence of the model calculation and the promising comparison between the model prediction and the industrial data strongly suggested that the proposed approach would be a powerful tool in dynamic process control. However, more precise descriptions of other process aspects need to be included before the model can be practically employed in a dynamic controlling system. QC 20120829

The short-lived 182Hf–182W decay system is a powerful chronometer for constraining the timing of metal–silicate separation and core formation in planetesimals and planets. Neutron capture effects on W isotopes, however, significantly hamper the application of this tool. In order to correct for neutron capture effects, Pt isotopes have emerged as a reliable in-situ neutron dosimeter. This study applies this method to IAB iron meteorites, in order to constrain the timing of metal segregation on the IAB parent body. The ε182ε182W values obtained for the IAB iron meteorites range from −3.61 ± 0.10 to −2.73 ± 0.09. Correlating εiεiPt with ε182ε182W data yields a pre-neutron capture ε182ε182W of −2.90 ± 0.06. This corresponds to a metal–silicate separation age of 6.0 ± 0.8 Ma after CAI for the IAB parent body, and is interpreted to represent a body-wide melting event. Later, between 10 and 14 Ma after CAI, an impact led to a catastrophic break-up and subsequent reassembly of the parent body. Thermal models of the interior evolution that are consistent with these estimates suggest that the IAB parent body underwent metal–silicate separation as a result of internal heating by short-lived radionuclides and accreted at around 1.4±0.11.4±0.1 Ma after CAIs with a radius of greater than 60 km., Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 482, ISSN:0012-821X, ISSN:1385-013X
