Arterial diseases (ADs) are a significant health problem, with high mortality and morbidity rates. Endovascular interventions, such as balloon angioplasty (BA), bare-metal stents (BMSs), drug-eluting stents (DESs) and drug-coated balloons (DCBs), have made significant progress in their treatments. However, the issue has not been fully resolved, with restenosis remaining a major concern. In this context, bioresorbable vascular stents (BVSs) have emerged as a promising area of investigation. This manuscript includes articles that assess the use of BVSs. Studies have identified ongoing challenges, such as negative vascular remodeling and elastic recoil post-angioplasty, stent-related injury, and in-stent restenosis following BMS placement. While DESs have mitigated these issues to a considerable extent, their durable structures are unable to prevent late stent thrombosis and delay arterial recovery. BVSs, with their lower support strength and tendency towards thicker scaffolds, increase the risk of scaffold thrombosis. Despite inconsistent study results, the superiority of BVSs over DESs has not been demonstrated in randomized trials, and DES devices continue to be the preferred choice for most cases of arterial disease. Esprit BTK (Abbott Vascular) received approval from the US FDA for below-knee lesions in 2024, offering hope for the use of BVSs in other vascular conditions. Enhancing the design and thickness of BVS scaffolds may open up new possibilities. Large-scale and longer-term comparative studies are still required. This article aims to provide an overview of the use of biodegradable stents in the endovascular treatment of vascular stenosis.

This study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Quiet Quitting Scale (QQS) among healthcare workers. After completing the language validation, the psychometric properties of the QQS were tested on a sample of 542 healthcare workers from two hospitals in Turkey. Convergent validity was examined using the Burnout Measure-Short Version (BMS). The reliability of the scale was evaluated through internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and split-half reliability. Factor analysis confirmed the one-dimensional structure of the QQS with its seven items. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.81, the intraclass correlation coefficient for the total score was 0.91, and the Spearman-Brown coefficient for split-half reliability was 0.80. Additionally, the test-retest reliability was found to be high. A correlation coefficient of 0.79 between the QQS and BMS confirmed the scale's convergent validity. These results suggest that the Turkish version of the QQS is a valid and reliable tool for measuring quiet quitting behavior in healthcare workers. This study compared the stress, anxiety and depression levels in employees working in the health, education and security sectors. The study also investigated the effect of psychological resilience on stress, anxiety, and depression levels and whether the stress, anxiety, depression and psychological resilience levels of employees differ according to occupational and demographic variables. In this cross-sectional study, 1222 employees participated, comprising 50.8% from the health sector, 37.7% from education, and 11.5% from security. Data were collected using the Stress, Anxiety, and Depression Scale-21 and the Brief Resilience Scale. The study revealed varying rates of severe stress (49.1%), anxiety (74.0%), and depression (53.2%) among participants. Health employees experienced higher stress (52.1%), anxiety (77.0%), and depression (58%) rates compared to those in education (46.4%, 72.4%, and 48.4%) and security sectors (44.3%, 66.4%, and 48.5%). Health employees exhibited higher stress, anxiety, and depression levels, signifying a significant difference. Furthermore, the research identified psychological resilience as a crucial predictor of stress, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, these mental health issues were more prevalent among younger individuals with less work experience, females, private sector employees, singles, and those without children. The findings of the study showed that the level of stress, anxiety and depression was high in employees working in all three sectors (health, education and security), but mental problems were more common in health employees. Arterial aneurysms remain a significant public health problem because they often result in death when ruptured; therefore, they require immediate medical treatment. Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) has recently become the primary treatment option, owing to the fewer side effects compared to those with open surgery. However, stents used for conventional EVAR often cause side-branch occlusion, which alters the perfusion of vital organs. Recently, multilayer flow modulator (MFM) stents have been used as a new treatment for arterial aneurysms. These stents appear to be feasible owing to their unique design consisting of an uncoated three-dimensionally braided multilayered structure. MFM stents generally remodulate laminar flow and reduce the flow velocity in the aneurysmal sac, leading to thrombosis, which causes the aneurysm to shrink over time. Thus, they reduce the risk of mortality. Moreover, they reduce morbidity by preserving the side-branch blood flow. They can be easily applied to complex aneurysms and are ready to use without customization, which shortens the waiting time for interventions. This study aimed to evaluate the role of MFM stents in the treatment of arterial aneurysms based on available data.

This study aims identifying the effects of nurses' perceptions of organizational justice on their performance and to test the mediating role of job satisfaction. This is a cross-sectional study. This study conducted with 374 nurses working hospitals. The research model was tested using structural equation modeling and the bootstrap technique. Organizational justice has been found to have a significant impact on job performance and job satisfaction. Job satisfaction had a partial mediating role. The results of this study could guide the more effective and efficient use of human resources in nursing management and contribute to the literature of health and nursing management.

Nursing is one of the most stressful and high-risk professions. It is important to identify the psychological problems experienced by nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic and examine the relationship between these problems to devise measures that can properly address them. This study examined mediating effect of work stress in the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and nurses' organizational and professional turnover intentions. Using a cross-sectional research design, this study was conducted on 486 nurses working in seven hospitals in Turkey. The mean age of the participants was 35.24 ± 6.81 and 59.9 % of them were women. The Fear of COVID-19 Scale, the General Work Stress Scale, and the Turnover Intention Scale were used to collect data. A mediation model showed that fear of COVID-19 was positively associated with work stress and organizational and professional turnover intentions. The model also revealed that work stress was positively associated with organizational and professional turnover intentions. Furthermore, the results demonstrated that fear of COVID-19 did not only have a direct effect on organizational and professional turnover intentions but also had an indirect effect on it via increased work stress. Findings improve our understanding of the role of work stress in the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and organizational and professional turnover intentions. Objective : This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a newly developed, leak closure Internal Compression Therapy (ICT) (Invamed, Ankara, Turkey) device during a single-session procedure in a group of patients with primary deep valve incompetence. Methods : There were 286 patients who were diagnosed with deep venous reflux by duplex scanning. They underwent valvular leak operations to treat primary deep venous insufficiency. Follow-up visits were on the third day, first month, sixth month and twelfth month. At each visit, duplex scanning and a clinical examination were performed. Successful treatment was defined as deep vein valves without reflux. Any patency or reflux over 1 sec was considered a failure. Results : The study enrolled 286 patients with deep venous insufficiency. Procedural technical success was 100%. At the one-year follow-up, the overall success, among all patients, was 92%. No significant morbidity or mortality related to the procedure were observed. All patients had major improvements in venous clinical severity score (VCSS) scores postoperatively. VCSS scores at pre-intervention, and at the twelfth month, were 20.7±5.9 and 3.9±0.9, respectively (p<0.001). Objective This study aims to present the early results of a retrospective study of the use of novel n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (VenaBlock)-based nontumescent endovenous ablation with a guiding light for the treatment of patients with varicose veins. Methods Patients with lower limb venous insufficiency were treated with n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (VenaBlock Venous Closure System) between April 2016 and July 2016. The study enrolled adults aged 21-70 years with symptomatic moderate to severe varicosities (C2-C4b) and great saphenous vein reflux lasting longer than 0.5 s with great saphenous vein diameter between 5.5 and 15 mm assessed in the standing position. No compression stockings were used after the procedure. Duplex ultrasound imaging and clinical follow-up were performed on the third day, first month, sixth month, and 12th month. Clinical, etiological, anatomical, pathophysiological classification; venous clinical severity score; and completed Aberdeen varicose vein questionnaire were recorded. Results Five hundred thirty-eight patients with great saphenous vein incompetency underwent n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate ablation. The mean ablation length was 25.69 ± 4.8 cm, and the average amount of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate delivered was 0.87 ± 0.15 ml. The mean procedure time was 11.7 ± 4.9 min. Procedural success was 100%, and complete occlusion was observed after treatment and at the third-day follow-up. We observed ecchymosis in five patients (1.00%) at the entry site at the third-day follow-up. Phlebitis was encountered with six (1.20%) patients. No skin pigmentation, hematoma, paresthesia, deep vein thrombosis, or pulmonary embolism was observed. Kaplan-Meier analysis yielded an occlusion rate of 99.4% at the 12-month follow-up. All patients had significant improvement in venous clinical severity score and Aberdeen varicose vein questionnaire scores postoperatively ( p <0.0001). Venous clinical severity score scores decreased from 5.43 ± 0.87 to 0.6 ± 0.75. Aberdeen varicose vein questionnaire scores decreased from 18.32 ± 5.24 to 4.61 ± 1.42. Conclusions The procedure appears to be feasible, safe, and efficient in treating the great majority of incompetent great saphenous veins with this technique.

Objectives: Sudden deaths occur within 24 hours after symptoms' onset and are caused by cardiac, neurological and pulmonary diseases. Autopsy is the gold standard in determining cause of death. In this study, death's etiology was evaluated in cases applied to our department that underwent autopsy with sudden death indication., Methods: This study included cases aged 18 or older with sudden, suspected, non-traumatic death applying to our department between 2008 and 2012. Patients' age, sex, death time, co-morbid diseases, initial signs, cardiac rhythm, and autopsy findings were recorded after reviewing patient charts., Results: The study included 46 patients. Mean age was 45.73±19.6. Of the cases, 84.78% applied to emergency with cardiopulmonary arrest. Thirty-two cases (69.6%) were male. The most frequent cause of death was cardiovascular diseases (52.2%), followed by central nervous system disorders (21.7%), intoxications (15.2%), and respiratory diseases (10.9%). The most common diseases were myocardial infarction (45.7%), subarachnoid hemorrhage (8.7%), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There were three drug ingestions, three carbon monoxide intoxications, and one corrosive material ingestion among the intoxication cases., Conclusions: Sudden deaths are rarely encountered. Emergency clinicians should consider cause in differential diagnosis and provide appropriate approaches at first evaluation.

Background: The primary objective of this multicentre prospective observational study was to evaluate the early results of a new non-thermal embolisation method using N-butyl cyanoacrylate in venous insufficiency., Patients and Methods: A total of 181 patients with a varicose vein diagnosis were treated with the VariClose: Vein Sealing Systems at four different centres. The protocol included physical and colour Doppler ultrasonography examination, venous clinical severity score and quality of life assessment before and after the procedure on days 1 and 7 and at months 1, 3 and 6. Clinical recovery was evaluated by comparing the venous clinical severity score and the quality of life assessment before and after the procedure., Results: In total, 215 embolisation procedures were successfully completed on 181 patients (110 female) with a mean age of 37.6 ± 13.2 years (range 18-72 years). The 215 procedures consisted of 25 bilateral applications on 206 great saphenous veins and 9 small saphenous veins. The average pre-interventional diameter of great saphenous veins was 6.5 ± 1.4 mm (4.3-14 mm), and the mean diameter of small saphenous veins was 5.2 ± 1.3 mm (3.8-8.6 mm). The average length of the sealed vein segments was 31.6 ± 6.1 cm (23-70 cm), and the average N-butyl cyanoacrylate usage for the patient was 0.9 ml (0.7-2.1 ml). The procedural occlusion rate was 100%. Post-operative pain was observed in 11 patients (6.1%), and thrombophlebitis was observed in 1 patient (0.5%). No total recanalisation was observed. Five (2.7%) partial recanalisations were observed at the 6 month follow-up. The 6 month total occlusion rate was 97.2%., Conclusions: This new tumescent-free non-thermal embolisation method can be applied safely with high success rates.

The authors evaluated neuron-specific enolase (NSE), S100 calcium-binding protein B (S100B), and heat shock protein 70 (HSP 70) levels and their relationships with in-hospital mortality, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scores, and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores. In total, 35 patients older than 18 years were presented to our emergency department and were diagnosed with non-traumatic intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) and 32 healthy controls were included. Blood samples were drawn on days 0 and 5. S100 calcium-binding protein B and HSP levels were significantly higher in patients than in controls on days 0 and 5. Neuron-specific enolase levels were higher in patients than in controls on day 0, but there was no significant difference on day 5. S100 calcium-binding protein B was negatively correlated with GCS, whereas it was positively correlated with NIHSS and bleeding volume. There was also a negative correlation between NSE and GCS, but it was not statistically significant. In addition, no significant correlation was found in terms of bleeding volume or NIHSS. Heat shock protein 70 was negatively correlated with GCS and positively correlated with bleeding volume and NIHSS, but these results were not statistically significant. S100 calcium-binding protein B and HSP 70 levels were significantly higher in those who died compared with survivors. The areas under the curve of S100 B, NSE, and HSP 70 for mortality were 0.635, 0.477, and 0.770, respectively. Neuron-specific enolase, S100B, and HSP 70 levels are simple, inexpensive, and objective measures in cases of ICH. These tests can be used to support an assessment for screening ICH patients with clinical scoring systems, such as GCS and NIHSS.
