In this paper, we report an efficient and easy method for preparing 2-arylbenzimidazoles from ophenylenediamines and aldehydes under microwave irradiation and using a small amount of a new surfactant-modified Moroccan clay catalyst. The heterogeneous reaction conditions provided a very simple, environmentally-friendly, clean, economical and selective protocol for the preparation of benzimidazole derivatives. The aim of this work is the synthesis of news compounds having 4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole as basic structure by dipolar 1,3-cycloaddition reaction between 4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol as dipolarophilic system and N-aryl-C-ethoxycarbonitrilimine as chemical dipolar agent. Purpose: To compare findings in fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) in patients with extra-nodal lymphoma by using a combined PET/CT scanner. Methods and Materials: Between 2011 and April 2013, seventy seven patients with confirmed pathology of Hodgkin (32 patients) and Non Hodgkin lymphoma (45 patients) with extranodal involvement diagnosed at Nasser Institute Cancer Center (NICC), ministry of health, Cairo, Egypt. After collection of the two reports separately, combined reading was allowed afterwards, and the differences were recorded for our study. Results: PET-CT is very effective in detection of lesions in the bone and bone marrow, few patients may have CT finding without corresponding FDG uptake, CT without PET may be very effective in detecting recurrences in soft tissue, renal and GIT extrannodal lymphoma. Conclusion: PET scan is more sensitive than the CT used alone, and the combination PET-CT can be considered the standard of care for detection of extranodal lymphomas excluding soft tissue, renal and GI lymphomas.

The adsorption of Basic Blue 9 as cationic dye from aqueous solutions onto Moroccan Pine Sawdust was investigated. Effects of various parameters were studied like contact time, pH, adsorbent dose and initial concentration of Basic Blue 9 dye for the removal efficiency % onto Moroccan Pine Sawdust. Removal efficiency % can be attained 96% in less than 20 min. The experimental data fitted by pseudo- second-order kinetic model to describe the adsorption of Basic Blue 9 on Moroccan Pine Sawdust. Thermodynamic results revealed that the adsorption of Basic Blue 9 onto Moroccan Pine Sawdust is an endothermic and spontaneously process. The Gibbs energy DG0 decreased from - 2.57 kJ/mol to - 3.08 kj/mol with increase in temperature from 298 K to 323 K indicating a increase in feasibility of biosorption at higher temperature. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms for adsorption of Basic Blue 9 onto Moroccan Pine Sawdust were investigated. Accordingly, Moroccan Pine Sawdust was shown to be a very efficient, eco-friendly and low cost adsorbent and a promising alternative for removal dyes from aqueous solutions., Moroccan Journal of Chemistry, Vol 2, No 1 (2014)

The automotive industry is facing the challenge of fuel economy. Many factors contribute to fuel economy. Vehicle weight is a significant factor. One approach to vehicle weight reduction is the use of lightweight materials such as aluminum. The replacement of steel by aluminum requires a cross-section that is three times greater due to the low specific strength (strength to weight ratio) of aluminum, which makes it approximately equal in weight and rigidity to steel but of three times the cost. Thus, its use is limited in mass-production vehicles. New aluminum metal matrix composites (At-MMC) can be processed to the higher strength associated with steels and this reduces its thickness. The high specific strength, stiffness and the flexibility in design of fiber reinforced composite structural members enhanced their automotive applications. The objective of this work is to develop a model and analyze new fiber reinforced aluminum plates to meet the requirements for automotive applications.
