This paper proposes decoupled speed and torque control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives using a novel load torque estimator (LTE). The proposed LTE is applied for computing a load torque and yielding a feed-forward value in the speed controller to separate the torque control from the speed control. Indirect flux weakening using direct current component is obtained for high speed operation of the IPMSM drive, and its value for maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control in constant torque region is also used. LTE uses values of direct and quadrature currents to improve the behavior of the speed controller under the reference tracking and torque disturbances. The complete IPMSM drive by Matlab/Simulink is built. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme using an experimental setup of the complete drive system implemented on a DSP-DS1102 control board is confirmed. Extensive results over a wide speed range are verified. The efficacy of the proposed method is confirmed in comparison to a conventional PI controller under both the reference speed tracking and load torque disturbance.

Based on their reported neuroprotective properties, vanilloids provide a good starting point for the synthesis of anti-Alzheimer's disease (AD) agents. In this context, nine new 1,2,3-triazole conjugates of vanilloids were synthesized via click chemistry. The compounds were tested for their effect on acetylcholine esterase (AChE) and amyloid-beta peptide (Aβ) aggregation. The triazole esters ( E )-(1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)-1 H -1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl 3-(4-hydroxy-3 methoxyphenyl)acrylate 9 and (1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)-1 H -1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl-4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoate 8 displayed dual inhibitory activity for AChE and Aβ aggregation with IC 50 values of 0.47/0.31 μM and 1.2/0.95 μM, respectively, as compared to donepezil (0.27 μM) and tacrine (0.41 μM), respectively. The results showed that the triazole ester moiety is more favorable for the activity than the triazole ether moiety. This could be attributed to the longer length of the spacer between the two vanillyl moieties in the triazole esters. Furthermore, the binding affinities and modes of the triazole esters 9 and 8 were examined against AChE and Aβ utilizing a combination of docking predictions and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Docking computations revealed promising binding affinity of triazole esters 9 and 8 as potential AChE, Aβ40, and Aβ42 inhibitors with docking scores of -10.4 and -9.4 kcal mol -1 , -5.8 and -4.7 kcal mol -1 , and -3.3 and -2.9 kcal mol -1 , respectively. The stability and binding energies of triazole esters 9 and 8 complexed with AChE, Aβ40, and Aβ42 were measured and compared to donepezil and tacrine over 100 ns MD simulations. According to the estimated binding energies, compounds 9 and 8 displayed good binding affinities with AChE, Aβ42, and Aβ40 with average Δ G binding values of -32.9 and -31.8 kcal mol -1 , -12.0 and -10.5 kcal mol -1 , and -20.4 and -16.6 kcal mol -1 , respectively. Post-MD analyses demonstrated high steadiness for compounds 9 and 8 with AChE and Aβ during the 100 ns MD course. Introduction: Rectovaginal fistula (RVF) is an abnormal communication between the vagina and the rectum. RVFs caused by Bartholin's gland infection are very rare. We present the case of recurrent rectovaginal fistula complicating a bartholin's gland abcess successfully treated with a Martius flap. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the possibility of complication of bartholin's gland infection by a rectovaginal fistula and the efficacy of Martius flap procedure for recurrent RVF of the low third part of the vagina., Observation: It is a 30-year-old woman admitted to our department for recurrent RVF due to an abscess of the Bartholin's glands. She was previously treated with a vaginal advancement flap which failed with persistence of the fistula and its symptoms. The patient underwent a RVF repair by Martius flap with complete healing of the fistula., Discussion: Rectovaginal fistula is a complex pathology with psycho-social, individual, family, religious and ethno-environmental repercussions. Its main aetiologies are obstetric, rectal surgery. Several techniques including the vaginal or anal advancement flap and the Martius flap are used for the treatment of rectovaginal fistulas. For recurrent fistulas, the Martius flap seems to be the most indicated with better results., Conclusion: Rectovaginal fistula remain a challenge for surgeons and have major psycho-socio-economic repercussions for the patient. The complication of Bartholin's gland infection by rectovaginal fistula is rare. The Martius flap technique is the method of choice for recurrent rectovaginal fistulas of the lower third of the vagina or in association with other pathologies., (Copyright © 2021. Background: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic systemic inflammatory rheumatic disease that specifically affects the spine and sacroiliac joint. AS diagnosis is often delayed in the clinical practice and this delay may cause the patients to miss the chance of early treatment. Fibromyalgia (FM) is a frequently encountered clinical syndrome, fibromyalgianess is a term used when patients who are diagnosed with inflammatory arthropathies meet the criteria for FM syndrome as shown in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren syndrome, and AS., Objectives: We aimed primarily to assess the frequency of concomitant diagnosis of FM syndrome in AS patients and study its impact on clinical disease aspects. Secondary, our aim extended as a preliminary pilot study to assess the Plasma Pentraxin-3(PTX-3) as a potential marker for the diagnosis of FM syndrome in AS patients., Methods: Plasma PTX-3 in 61 AS patients was compared to 60 matched controls. FM was diagnosed by FM Rapid Screening Tool. Bath AS disease activity index (BASDAI) and AS disease assessment score using C- reactive protein (ASDAS-CRP), Bath AS functional impairment index (BASFI), Bath AS metrology index (BASMI), AS quality of life (ASQoL) scale, Beck Depression Inventory, and Bath AS Radiology Index (BASRI) were assessed., Results: The patients were categorized into two groups according to the concomitant diagnosis of FM syndrome. Group I included 14 (22.9%) AS patients who fulfilled the clinical diagnosis of FM syndrome. Group II included 47 (77.1%) AS patients without FM syndrome. AS patients with FM (Group I) had significantly(p<0.001) increased an average of ages, disease duration, diagnostic delay of AS, switching of bDMARDs, morning stiffness duration, ASDAS-CRP, BASFI, ASQoL score, BASDAI (p=0.008), and BDI score (p=0.005) compared to AS patients without FM (Group II). PTX-3 levels were significantly (p<0.001) higher in Group I (p<0.001) (median, 0.23; IQR, 0.15-0.41 ng/ml) than Group II (median, 0.13; IQR, 0.035-0.21ng/ml) which showed no significant differences (p>0.05) compared to the controls. PTX-3 levels had significant positive correlations (p<0.05) with disease duration, BASFI, and ASQOl. Age, female sex, switch of biologic, ASDAS - CRP, and PTX-3 were significant predictors of FM in AS patients., Conclusion: These results indicate that concomitant FM is a significant problem in patients with AS and its presence is associated with higher disease activity, impaired function as well as an overall negative impact on QoL. Easy scanning of suspicious cases of FM with FiRST questionnaire can be done in daily practice. Objective: To compare the low-dose recombinant FSH and hMG protocols in treatment of patients with history of severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS)., Design: A prospective study on 22 patients with history of severe OHSS. Group A (n = 14) was treated with low-dose recombinant FSH 40 cycles and group B (n = 8) was treated with low-dose hMG in 26 cycles., Setting: The Egyptian IVF-ET Center, Cairo, Egypt., Patient(s): Twenty-two patients with a history of severe OHSS., Intervention(s): Ovulation induction., Main Outcome Measure(s): Estradiol, number of follicles, number of hMG ampules, pregnancy rate (PR), and the development of OHSS., Result(s): The cancellation rate, mean E2 level on day of hCG, mean number of days of stimulation, and the mean number of ampules per cycle were 10%, 523 +/- 166 pg/mL (conversion factor to SI unit, 3.671), 17.8 +/- 5.4, and 19 +/- 6.5 in group A and 19.2%, 554 +/- 152 pg/mL, 14.6 +/- 2.5, and 16.1 +/- 3.6 in group B, respectively. Treatment resulted in eight pregnancies (20% per cycle) and two abortions (25%) in group A. In group B, four pregnancies resulted (15.4% per cycle) and two patients aborted (50%). No cases of OHSS developed in both groups. There were no significant differences in all parameters between the two groups., Conclusion(s): Recombinant FSH low-dose protocol proved to be as effective as low-dose hMG in producing reasonable ovulation and PRS in polycystic ovary syndrome patients with a history of severe OHSS and the protocol was safe concerning the risk of development of OHSS.
