The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act ("ADAAA") was passed in 2008 and became effective on January 1, 2009. There are issues regarding reasonable accommodation that have arisen in connection with this Act. This article first explains what changes were made to the ADA's employment-related provisions with the ADAAA and also explains the relevant U.S. Supreme Court cases that led to passage of the ADAAA. Reasonable accommodation under the Act and reasonable accommodation cases are then discussed as well as the U.S. Airways v. Barnett case. We then end with ways to interpret these cases for guidance and the conclusion that as successful as passage of the ADAAA may have been in resolving problems with the original Americans with Disabilities Act, there are still issues to be resolved. It is accepted practice for business students to take ethics courses. These courses typically focus on case studies to illustrate ethical dilemmas that the students analyze during the course. These case studies take different forms, so any type of case involving an ethical dilemma could be presented. Tax cases are not typically used as case studies in these courses although tax case studies can effectively be used in ethics courses. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA") was enacted in 1974 to safeguard the privacy rights of students and make their educational records accessible to them. In the past, education records were available to outside authorities while students and parents were limited in their access. FERPA has had a positive impact on students, parents, and educational authorities. Issues still remain, however, such as state open records laws and plagiarism detection software. The article offers information on the enactment and development of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008, which protects the rights against discrimination based on disability. It discusses the changes made to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990 under the ADAAA. It analyzes the decision of two cases which led to the enactment of ADAAA including Sutton v. United Air Lines, Inc. and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. v. Williams.
