Background and Objectives: The primary purpose of the article was to examine the relationship between dark and light personality traits in university students enrolled in the Faculty of Sport Sciences. Materials and Methods: Data were collected from 518 students (208 female, 310 male) with an average age of 20.89 (±2.25). The Short Dark Triad and the Light Triad Scales were used. Harman’s single-factor analysis minimized measurement error, and various statistical methods assessed the effect of gender and age on personality traits. Results: Results indicated a positive correlation among dark personality traits, while light personality traits exhibited more complex relationships. Gender and age were found to significantly influence certain personality traits. Conclusions: This study contributes to the sports literature by exploring the role of demographic variables in personality formation.

The study aims at elucidating the association between sustainable exercise and its influence on self-efficacy and life satisfaction in women during their premenopausal and postmenopausal stages. A relational screening model was employed on a sample of 422 women, with 215 premenopausal and 207 postmenopausal participants, utilizing convenience sampling. Participants’ regularity of exercise and its duration was taken into consideration. Evaluation tools included the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Data were analyzed using a statistical software package with significance set at 0.05. Sustainable exercise demonstrated no significant difference in SWLS or GSES subdimensions among premenopausal women. However, postmenopausal women engaging in regular exercise reported significantly higher scores in SWLS and all GSES subdimensions. Moreover, positive correlations between age and SWLS scores, as well as between age and certain GSES subdimensions, were found in both pre- and postmenopausal periods. While sustainable exercise does not evidently impact the life satisfaction and self-efficacy of premenopausal women, it significantly enhances these parameters in postmenopausal women. Additionally, age appears to influence life satisfaction and specific self-efficacy subdimensions across both phases.

This study employed the correlational survey model to examine how regular exercise influenced life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy in men over 65. The study sample included a total of 215 participants, of whom 110 exercised regularly (for at least 45 min, three times a week), while 105 engaged in no physical exercise. Regular exercisers were found to score significantly higher on life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy scales as compared to non-exercisers. These scores also increased significantly with age and prolonged exercise history. A moderate and positive correlation was detected between life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy among regular exercisers, while non-exercisers showed low to moderate correlations. The findings suggest that regular exercise can enhance life satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy in the elderly male population. Such effects appear to be associated with greater age and lifetime exercise history, highlighting the value of regular physical exercise in improving the quality of life among older adults.

This study aims to map the development of the concept of parenting in sport over time and the network of studies related to this concept. In order to identify study trends and gaps in the field of parenting in sport, bibliometric data of open access publications in the Web of Science (WOS) database between 1994 and 2024 were analyzed. The study was conducted using a criterion-based sampling technique. As a result of the first search, it was determined that 638 works were found, and the majority of these works were in journal article format. When “sport sciences, psychology, applied psychology, multidisciplinary psychology, clinical psychology, social psychology, family studies, behavioral sciences” and English as the language of publication were selected, the number of works decreased to 268. When only SSCI and SSCI-Expanded categories are selected in the WOS index type, this number decreases to 232, and when open access works between 1994-2024 are limited to the last 10 years, 193 works were identified. The years with the highest number of publications were determined as 2023, 2021 and 2019, respectively, and the authors who published the most works were Chris G. Harwood, Travis E. Dorsch and Camilla J. Knight. As a result, by examining the distribution of studies on parenting in sport, basic research themes and author collaborations, it is aimed to reveal how this concept is shaped in the scientific literature and in which areas it is concentrated.
