In rapidly urbanising areas like Calabar, Nigeria, nightclubs stood out as vital economic contributors. This study delved into the economic impact of insecurity on the nightclub industry within Calabar, Southern Cross River State. A qualitative method was employed, using purposive sampling to collect data from operators of nightclubs in the area. The results revealed fifteen active nightclubs in close proximity to significant crime hotspots. This proximity underscored potential public safety threats and the resulting economic challenges. The findings further showed a marked decline in patronage, revenue, and staffing during periods of heightened insecurity. The study concluded with recommendations for enhanced security, competent nightclub management, and strategic urban planning to ensure a safe and thriving nightlife in Calabar. The study examined fast food's geographical distribution and patronage in Calabar urban, Nigeria. Data were acquired from both secondary and primary sources. Inferential and descriptive statistical techniques were used to analyse the acquired data for the study. The findings indicated a clustered pattern of forty-seven operating fast-food outlets scattered across the area. The study also observed that large population density, central city business and shopping districts known as the CBD/tourist attractions and security were the main factors of fast food location. Furthermore, the study revealed a substantial negative correlation between patrons' distance from the fast food outfits and their frequency of patronage, meaning that the larger the distance between patrons and fast-food establishments, the lower the degree of patronage. The study further showed that fast food patronage fluctuates substantially depending on the time of day. The study recommended that fast food proprietors and government evaluate the critical factors of the geographical distribution of fast food in the area for the long-term viability of the business. Marketing strategies adopted by the organisers of the Iboku Boat Regatta practised by the Efik people of South Eastern Nigeria have been assessed. Purposive sampling was adopted to select the study area. Data were acquired from both primary and secondary sources. Results show that several marketing strategies and product packaging techniques were adopted in publicising the festival between 2015 and 2020. However, only 52,780 tourists attended the festival between 2015 and 2020, showing that the adopted strategies are not penetrating enough. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the state government and its relevant agencies to develop a more dynamic and holistic policy framework that incorporates the State Niche Tourism Master Plan or Strategy. The Plan or Strategy should identify niche tourism sites and products with high potential and design marketing goals for the products to attract a significant segment of the specialised tourist market with interest in niche products. The study concludes that the festival could not attract more national and international tourists due to inappropriate marketing strategies adopted by the organisers and the obsolete tourism policy adopted by the state government. The nightclub industry in Nigeria is a lucrative part (subset) of the larger music, drinks and entertainment industry that operates from dusk to dawn. The nightclub industry is an economy that is growing, robust and competitive in comparison to other economies. Conversely, the imposition of a dusk to dawn curfew in Calabar as a proactive strategy to curb security challenges in Calabar Metropolis affects the nightclub economy. The study investigates the economic impact of curfew imposition on the nightclub industry in Calabar. The research employed the qualitative approach and adopted a purposive sampling technique for data collection, targeting nightclub operators of Fifteen (15) nightclubs. The study revealed that the curfew imposition resulted in the decline of business patronage, job and income losses to nightclubs due to the curfew imposition amongst other contending factors. The study concludes with recommendations on ways to salvage the negative impact of curfew imposition on the industry and return nightclubs in Calabar to business growth, profitability and resurgence.
