Objectives: The study was aimed to determine the effect of the cyberchondria status and severity of the patients on their readiness for surgery. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 375 patients who received care in the surgical wards of a university hospital between February 10 and April 30, 2023, were included. Data were collected using the Cyberchondria Scale (CS), Cyberchondria Severity Scale (CSS), and the Pre-operative Assessment of Readiness Tool (PART). Data were evaluated by Mann-Whitney U test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Mann-Kruskal Wallis, and linear regression analysis. Results: The mean age of the patients was 38.0±9.7 years, and 54.1% were female. 59.2% of the patients stated that they spent more than 4 h on the Internet. The mean scores of the patients were 82.7±7.1 for the PART, 72.0±17.5 for the CS, and 33.0±8.6 for the CSS. Cyberchondria status was positively affected (p=0.026), and the severity of cyberchondria negatively affected pre-operative patient readiness. Doctor-patient interaction and dysfunctional Internet use positively affect readiness for surgery. Excessiveness had a negative effect, and distress had a positive effect (p<0.05). Conclusion: In patients who will undergo surgery, it was determined that readiness for surgery was high and cyberchondria status had a positive effect, while cyberchondria severity had a negative effect. Objective: WHO has advised to conduct research the adverse consequences of surgical mask use in the community. This study aimed to determine the effects of surgical mask use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 7014 respondents from 81 provinces of Turkey between August and November 2021. In the collection of data, a form on socio demographic characteristics, knowledge level questionnaire on surgical mask use, surgical mask usage characteristics questionnaire, and questionnaire on symptoms related to surgical mask use were used. In the analysis of the data, number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square, and logistic regression analysis were used. Results: The mean age of the respondents was 33.1±12.5 years, 54.8% of whom were women. 42.4% of the respondents stated that they felt protected by the mask and 69.7% of them stated that they had problems with the use of masks. The mean score of the respondents’ knowledge questionnaire regarding the use of surgical masks was found to be 5.33 ± 1.88. The mean symptom score of the respondents after the use of surgical masks was 2.57±2.67. During mask use, respiratory symptoms were seen most commonly, by 72.9% of the respondents. There was a significant relationship between male gender, chronic disease, not washing hands after contact with masks, removing masks in public enviroment, having spare masks, and symptoms after surgical mask use (p<0.05). Conclusion: Hand contact with the mask, and not washing the hands afterwards, removing the surgical mask were modifiable factors that increase the risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the mediating role of psychological resilience as part of the effect of spiritual well-being in the supportive care needs of women with breast cancer. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional design. The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale Short Form, the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and the Supportive Care Needs Survey Short Form were completed women with breast cancer treated at the oncology clinic of a university hospital. For the mediation model, Bootstrap methods with PROCESS Macro were used. Results: The study was conducted with 126 breast cancer patients. A significant negative, moderate relationship was found between supportive care needs and psychological resilience (r = -0.560). There was a significant negative, but weak relationship between supportive care needs and spiritual well-being (r = -0.385). The indirect effect of spiritual well-being on supportive care needs was significant, thus, psychological resilience was shown to have a mediating effect on the relationship between spiritual well-being and supportive care needs [b = -0.370, 95% confidence interval (- 0.5568, -0.1911)]. Conclusion: Psychological resilience appears to contribute to a reduction in supportive care needs of breast cancer patients by affecting spiritual well-being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The leadership and attitudes of religious officials in organ transplantation can be an effective communication tool in changing the public›s attitude towards organ donation. Objective: To determine the knowledge level and attitudes of Muslim religious officials working in a city center regarding organ transplantation. Materials and Methods: This descriptive research was carried out to determine the knowledge and attitudes of 127 Muslim religious officials working in a province of Turkey regarding organ donation and transplantation. Results: The mean age of the religious officials participating in the research was 42.2±8.8 years, and 85.0% were male. 92.9% of religious officials did not donate organs, and 89.0% said they would recommend organ donation. 74.0% answered «yes» to the question «Would you like an organ transplant if you needed it?» Organ-Tissue Donation and Transplantation Knowledge Scale (ODTKS) were used. The mean ODTKS score was 11.07±3.78. The scale›s donor characteristics sub-dimension mean score was 3.37±1.11, and the sub-dimension score average of legal, ethical, and medical process related to organ donation and transplantation was 7.69±3.01. There was a difference between the groups according to educational status (p=.042), considering donating their organs(p=.043), and having an organ transplant in case of need (p=.027). Aim: To analyse the effect of endotracheal tube cuff pressure control measures on the microaspiration of the stomach contents by measuring at the level of pepsin in deep tracheal aspiration. Design: A single‐blind, randomised controlled trial. Methods: This trial protocol was reported using the SPIRIT checklist. Endotracheal tube cuff pressure control will be provided with pilot balloon finger palpation, intermittent and continuous. The pepsin level will be measured during deep tracheal secretions in order to assess the effect of different endotracheal tube cuff pressure control measures on the microaspiration of the stomach contents. The samples will be examined within the first 4 h, between the 5th and 24th hours, and between the 25th and 48th hours after intubation. The level of pepsin will be considered positive according to the cut‐off value. In addition, the effect of different endotracheal tube cuff pressure controls on the incidence of ventilator‐associated pneumonia will be examined. In study group 1, study group 2 and the control group, the number of patients is planned to be 56. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier, Number NCT04061083. Registered in 2019. Discussion: The findings will show the effect of different endotracheal tube cuff pressure control methods on microaspiration of stomach content and the possible changes in pepsin level in deep tracheal aspirates. Conclusion: This study will shed light on future studies regarding pepsin level as a biomarker in treatment and follow‐up patients receiving mechanical ventilator support using an ETT and emphasise the importance of multidisciplinary studies. Relevance to clinical practice: As a result of the findings to be obtained from this study, the effect of endotracheal tube cuff pressure control on gastric content microaspiration and ventilator‐associated pneumonia will be determined and the most appropriate endotracheal tube cuff pressure control method will be identified to prevent it. Nurses' awareness of endotracheal tube cuff pressure measurement methods will be increased. The frequency and methods of endotracheal tube cuff pressure control will provide strong evidence that can be included in the ventilator‐associated pneumonia prevention care bundle. Spiritual emotional freedom techniques (SEFT) influence psychological well-being because psychological well-being is an individual's ability to prosper with all one's abilities and weaknesses cope with life's stresses, can work productively and fruitfully. The method used is a systematic literature review by collecting various literature, namely Scopus, and PubMed. Using SEFT keywords; psychological well-being, effects. The results of several studies indicate that there is an influence of SEFT in developing psychological well-being. SEFT is carried out with the power of prayer and tapping at several points will influence the level of stress. SEFT therapy can be applied in the field of clinical practice to support patient care.
