The article examines Tsvetaeva’s trace in the book “The Poet of the Air” by Italian writer Chicca Gagliardo. In the 21st century – at the present stage of Russian literary studies – the problem of dialogue between Russian writers and representatives of world literature is posed and actively studied. While the issue of Marina Tsvetaeva and the Czech Republic has been the subject of extensive research and analysis, and the study on her relationship with France has been published, the same cannot be said for Italy. The relevance of the scientifi c study is incorporating Tsvetaeva’s work into the broader intercultural and international context. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that so far in Russian and Italian literary studies the issue of spiritual dialogue between M. I. Tsvetaeva and Chicca Gagliardo has not been subject of a separate study. The novelty of this study is that neither in Russian nor Italian literary studies has there been a dedicated investigation into the spiritual dialogue between M. I. Tsvetaeva and Chicca Gagliardo. The aim of the article is to trace the presence of Tsvetaeva’s themes and motifs in Gagliardo’s book “The Poet of the Air”. The work used in this paper includes Tsvetaeva’s Collected Works, scholars’ books and articles and websites containing useful information for the research. The biographical and comparative method and the method of comparativist and intertextual analysis form the methodological basis. The results of the study show the role of the Russian poet’s personality and works in the Italian writer’s novel. Tsvetaeva’s themes and motifs in the novel are emphasised, for example the concept of soul, the motifs of the “fl ight of the soul”, insomnia, “captive spirit”, the idea of sky as an abyss and others. We suggest a hypothesis on translations of Tsvetaeva’s works into Italian that Gagliardo might have been familiar with. Gagliardo’s acquaintance with M. Rea’s translation of “Poem of the Air” and S. Vitale’s “Art in the Light of Conscience” is proved. The practical signifi cance of the research lies in the possible use of its materials in the practice of school and university special courses and special seminars on the works of Marina Tsvetaeva and the problem of ‘Russian-Italian cultural and literary ties’. The study allows us to place Marina Tsvetaeva’s work within a broader intercultural and international conception and contributes to the development of Tsvetaeva’s context from an international perspective. The article provides, in particular, a broadening of the scope of the issue “Tsvetaeva’s Reception in Italy”, whereby it can be referred not only to works of realist literature.

O Brasil é um dos países líderes mundiais na produção de soja, um dos grãos mais produzidos e consumidos no mundo. No Maranhão, um dos estados pertencentes à nova fronteira agrícola brasileira, MATOPIBA (englobando regiões do Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí e Bahia), se observa um incremento na produção deste grão em 135 dos seus atuais 217 municípios. Nesta perspectiva, o objetivo deste estudo é analisar as dinâmicas espacial e temporal do avanço do cultivo de soja sobre as áreas que antes eram cultivadas com as lavouras de arroz, feijão, mandioca e milho naquela parte do estado do Maranhão. Para atingir ao objetivo a pesquisa utilizou dados da Produção Agrícola Municipal do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística e da Fundação Getúlio Vargas de vários anos. Diante dos resultados obtidos, observou-se que nos últimos 40 anos, a cultura da soja expandiu a sua produção nos municípios que fazem parte daquela fronteira. A conclusão geral da pesquisa é que o crescimento da soja nos municípios maranhenses do MATOPIBA, mesmo tendo avançado em áreas ainda não cultivadas antes, ocorreu principalmente sobre parte das áreas antes ocupadas por aquelas lavouras.

Abstract Bone fractures cause acute inflammation that, despite being important for initial repair, may delay the healing of the damaged bone. Parenteral injection of dietary protein has been shown to decrease inflammation and accelerate the repair of skin wounds and other inflammatory pathologies. Thus, our aim was to evaluate whether the intraperitoneal (i.p.) immunization with zein, an abundant protein in rodent chow, would favor bone healing. Wistar rats received i.p. immunization: saline (SG), adjuvant (AG) and zein associated with adjuvant (ZG). Then, a 2 mm of defect bone was performed on the right tibia, and on days 7, 14, 28 and 45 thereafter, analyses were performed. The results showed that the injection of zein reduced inflammation without impairing bone mineralization. Moreover, biomechanical tests demonstrated higher levels of maximum force (N) in ZG, indicating better mechanical resistance in relation to the others. The computerized tomography also indicated lower levels of medullary content in the ZG than in the SG, suggesting the absence of trabeculae in the medullary region in the ZG. These findings suggest that the injection of zein in previously tolerated animals may improve bone repair, leading to mechanically functional bone formation.

O objetivo geral da pesquisa consiste em analisar de que forma a distribuição espacial e temporal da pluviometria influenciou na produção agrícola do estado do Maranhão, realizando um comparativo entre as Unidades Agrícolas Familiares (UAF) e Unidades Agrícolas Não Familiares ou Patronais (UAP) e nas Regiões Homogêneas de Precipitação (RHP) maranhenses nos anos de 2006 e 2017. Para tanto foi utilizada a metodologia de análise multivariada e modelo de regressão linear. Os dados utilizados foram coletados do Sistema de Recuperação Automática (SIDRA) do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), do Censo Agropecuário dos anos de 2006 e 2017, respectivamente. Os resultados mostraram que as UAP obtiveram valores mais elevados que a UAF no índice de produtividade do estado do Maranhão. Também pode-se inferir que a variável pluviometria está mais relacionada as Unidades de Agricultura Familiares, considerando os anos de 2006 e 2017.

IntroductionThe need for new tools to treat infections is constantly growing due to the possibilities of emerging diseases related to environmental changes, climatic catastrophes, microorganism resistance, and human and animal aging, leading to an evident unbalance in the planet’s health. Brazil contains the most significant portion of world biodiversity, a potential source of new antimicrobial natural products. Nonetheless, its environment, particularly its forests, and rainforests, is under threat, meaning that rapidly conducted, comprehensive research into the potential of antimicrobial activity to address this threat is urgently needed.MethodsIn this study, plants from the Amazon rainforest and the Atlantic forests were collected and tested against several pathogenic microbes relevant to humans, animals, and the environment, and subjected to large-scale susceptibility assays, bioautography, and Artemia salina toxicity assays. From the plants, 2,280 organic and aqueous extracts were obtained from different organs, namely leaves, barks, flowers, fruits, and seeds, and subjected to a large-scale susceptibility screening assay against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguinis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans, Malassezia pachydermatis, Malassezia furfur, and Listeria monocytogenes. Results and discussionThe selected extracts were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility tests to determine their inhibition zone diameters and minimum bactericidal concentrations, to bioautography, and to an Artemia salina toxicity assay, which resulted in 154 active extracts. Moreover, 111 out of 154 extracts were ranked based on scores established by the p-values and the mean rank differences in each set of test results. The final ranking identified which extracts should be studied in further phytochemical research using thin-layer chromatography techniques as a priority. The extracts obtained from plants belonging to Combretaceae, Connaraceae, Convolvulaceae, Fabaceae, Malpighiaceae, Moraceae, Piperaceae, Polygonaceae, and Salicaceae were selected as the most promising ones and used to support the identification of plant-based antimicrobial active compounds from the immense biodiversity of Brazilian forests.

Wound healing remains a clinical problem, with cases of atrophic, hypertrophic, or keloid scars. Three-dimensional scaffolds have been used to restore skin function, facilitating cell migration, adhesion, and proliferation. Collagen is the most common, presenting low antigenicity, decreased inflammation, and replacement by autologous tissue. It is used as sheets/films, sponges, membranes, sprays, and hydrogels of various origins. This integrative literature review aimed to evaluate the application of unassociated collagen scaffolds for skin wound healing and compare them to collagen associations with nanomaterials and polymers. Properties such as applications in humans and other unconventional models cause burns, partial and full-thickness wounds, and others. Scaffold, biomaterials, collagen, wound, injury, repair, and healing were among the descriptors. We found 3,098 articles published between 1995 and 2022 (Mendeley platform), including clinical/experimental trials. After exclusion, 26 studies were identified and analyzed. Autologous and heterologous collagens are the most used in the clinic and favor wound closure by improving re-epithelialization and reducing inflammation but may present challenges in aesthetic acceptance and loss of repair function in the wound site. Furthermore, collagen integration with other nanomaterials improved wound repair and experimental models.

As diferenças de gênero são assunto que diz respeito a todos nós, visto que vivemos em um ambiente social onde lidar com tais diferenças torna-se imprescindível a todo momento. Dizer que as diferenças de gênero são construções sociais e variam de acordo com cada sociedade não é novidade. O presente estudo busca identificar através da literatura, como as diferenças entre homens e mulheres interfere nos relacionamentos afetivos heterossexuais, de forma a identificar quais são os comportamentos que mais colaboram para a manutenção de um bom relacionamento, e quais os comportamentos que prejudicam a relação entre os pares. Para isso, temos utilizado a metodologia de revisão bibliográfica, através da qual buscamos artigos e bibliografias que apontem contribuições para a reflexão do tema proposto. Levando em consideração que o homem é o único animal capaz de modificar seu corpo através do pensamento, a Terapia Cognitivo Comportamental (TCC) vem se configurando como um importante aliado no combate à obesidade, proporcionando uma reestruturação cognitiva capaz de modificar não apenas um corpo obeso, mas modificar todo um estilo de vida. A terapia cognitivo-comportamental (TCC) tem sido amplamente usada no tratamento da obesidade em associação com outras intervenções, como o acompanhamento nutricional e a prática de atividade física. A TCC é uma terapia de duração breve e com sessões estruturadas nas quais o paciente é solicitado a colaborar ativamente na identificação e na mudança de seus comportamentos e sentimentos que contribuem para a obesidade. O objetivo do presente trabalho é verificar a eficácia do apoio psicoterápico com base na Terapia Cognitivo Comportamental na redução de peso de pacientes obesos. Cutaneous and mucosal leishmaniasis is widely distributed in Central and South America. Leishmania of the Viannia subgenus are the most frequent species infecting humans. L. (V.) braziliensis, L. (V.) panamensis are also responsible for metastatic mucosal leishmaniasis. Conventional or real time PCR is a more sensitive diagnostic test than microscopy, but the cost and requirement for infrastructure and trained personnel makes it impractical in most endemic regions. Primary health systems need a sensitive and specific point of care (POC) diagnostic tool. We developed a novel POC molecular diagnostic test for cutaneous leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania (Viannia) spp. Parasite DNA was amplified using isothermal Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA) with primers and probes that targeted the kinetoplast DNA. The amplification product was detected by naked eye with a lateral flow (LF) immunochromatographic strip. The RPA-LF had an analytical sensitivity equivalent to 0.1 parasites per reaction. The test amplified the principal L. Viannia species from multiple countries: L. (V.) braziliensis (n = 33), L. (V.) guyanensis (n = 17), L. (V.) panamensis (n = 9). The less common L. (V.) lainsoni, L. (V.) shawi, and L. (V.) naiffi were also amplified. No amplification was observed in parasites of the L. (Leishmania) subgenus. In a small number of clinical samples (n = 13) we found 100% agreement between PCR and RPA-LF. The high analytical sensitivity and clinical validation indicate the test could improve the efficiency of diagnosis, especially in chronic lesions with submicroscopic parasite burdens. Field implementation of the RPA-LF test could contribute to management and control of cutaneous and mucosal leishmaniasis.

The angiotensin-I converting enzyme (ACE) plays a central role in the renin-angiotensin system, acting by converting the hormone angiotensin-I to the active peptide angiotensin-II (Ang-II). More recently, ACE was shown to act as a receptor for Ang-II, and its expression level was demonstrated to be higher in melanoma cells compared to their normal counterparts. However, the function that ACE plays as an Ang-II receptor in melanoma cells has not been defined yet.Therefore, our aim was to examine the role of ACE in tumor cell proliferation and migration.We found that upon binding to ACE, Ang-II internalizes with a faster onset compared to the binding of Ang-II to its classical AT1 receptor. We also found that the complex Ang-II/ACE translocates to the nucleus, through a clathrin-mediated process, triggering a transient nuclear Ca2+ signal. In silico studies revealed a possible interaction site between ACE and phospholipase C (PLC), and experimental results in CHO cells, demonstrated that the β3 isoform of PLC is the one involved in the Ca2+ signals induced by Ang-II/ACE interaction. Further studies in melanoma cells (TM-5) showed that Ang-II induced cell proliferation through ACE activation, an event that could be inhibited either by ACE inhibitor (Lisinopril) or by the silencing of ACE. In addition, we found that stimulation of ACE by Ang-II caused the melanoma cells to migrate, at least in part due to decreased vinculin expression, a focal adhesion structural protein.ACE activation regulates melanoma cell proliferation and migration.
