The increasing complexity of hardware designs calls for design methodolgies that use more abstract design entries and increased automation of the implementation process. Highlevel synthesis (HLS) has been a research topic for the past 20 years, and current tools, such as Xilinx VivadoTM HLS promise to bring HLS to widespread use. In this paper we use Xilinx VivadoTMHLS to design an LDPC decoder for 802.11n. Forward error correction decoders are typically implemented in hardware due to the high processing requirements and therefore an LDPC decoder is an appropriate example to demonstrate the power of high-level synthesis

Reconfigurability for transceivers for wireless access networks like Bluetooth, WiMAX and W-LAN will become increasingly important. An appropriately flexible and reliable software architecture, allowing the concurrent processing of different controlling tasks for wireless terminals will hence be an important asset. Already during the 1980s reconfigurable receivers were developed for radio intelligence in the short wave range and the concept of software radio (SR) was born. A software defined radio (SDR) is a practical version of an SR: The received signals are sampled after a suitable band selection filter, usually in the base band or a low intermediate frequency band. The signal processing in both SR and SDR requires a considerable amount of concurrent processes. Since Petri nets (PNs) are both simple and strong tools for the description and the design of such concurrent processes, it is recommendable to deploy them for SDR. SDRs have paved the way towards cognitive radios (CRs), which are based on SDRs that additionally sense their environments, track changes, and react upon their findings. A CR is an autonomous unit in a communications environment that frequently exchanges information with the networks it is able to access as well as with other CRs. In this communication, the authors will introduce a realization concept for a CR which forms the basis of a hardware/firmware demonstrator developed by the authors. This demonstrator makes use of a digital signal processor (DSP) which forms the core of the design and flexibly programmable hardware accelerators based on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The authors will describe the solution also in view of the recent developments of IEEE 802.22

In the paper there are solved direct and inverse boundary problems and analytical solutions are obtained for optimization problems in the case of some nonlinear integral operators. It is modeled the plane potential flow of an inviscid, incompressible and nonlimited fluid jet, witch encounters a symmetrical, curvilinear obstacle—the deflector of maximal drag. There are derived integral singular equations, for direct and inverse problems and the movement in the auxiliary canonical half-plane is obtained. Next, the optimization problem is solved in an analytical manner. The design of the optimal airfoil is performed and finally, numerical computations concerning the drag coefficient and other geometrical and aerodynamical parameters are carried out. This model corresponds to the Helmholtz impermeable parachute problem.

In this paper motion as a combination of translation of the base point O and rotation about axis Z of a plane mechanism. The equations of the fixed centrode (B), the trajectory (T) and the movable centrode (R) are obtained. Three inverse problems are studied: if two of these curves are known, find the third one. Implicit differential equations are obtained. Numerical methods to solve these implicit differential equations are presented.

An increasing demand for applications in the area of Ultra-Wideband Radio Technology led to the EUWB (Coexisting Short Range Radio by Advanced Ultra-Wideband Radio Technology, FP7-ICT-215669, www.euwb.eu) project, which has been started in April 2008. The goal of this industry-led initiative of major industrial and excellent academic organizations is the improvement, integration, and the applications of UltraWideband Radio Technology (UWB-RT). The EUWB project has significantly enhanced the scientific knowledge base in the UWB-RT and has provided sophisticated new applications enabled by UWB and highly demanded in several European key industrial sectors such as home entertainment consumer electronics, automotive, public transportation, and heterogeneous networks. Without a doubt, the efficient exploitation of cross-layer functionalities will lead to successful applications of UWB technologies. Beside the cognitive radio related technology, namely the Detect-And-Avoid (DAA) technology, the localization and tracking (LT) technology is a major aspect of EUWB, in particular the underlying LT protocol. Within the scope of this manuscript, the authors will give a brief overview of EUWB by illustrating its technical approach. Furthermore, the authors will describe a novel LT protocol as well as its application to a typical scenario. This application is tailored to operate also with UWB devices that do not fully comply with the previously proposed LT schemes which need specific physical and medium access control layer functionalities.

For inverse problems there are derived singular integral equations and the movement is obtained in the auxiliary canonical half plane. Next, an optimization problem is solved analytically. The design of the optimal airfoil is performed. The drag coefficient and other geometrical parameters are computed in the case of a given distribution of the velocity on the profile.
