Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrages stehen Zukunftsvorstellungen, die Bestandteil von insgesamt 15 biographischen Interviews mit 12- bis 15-Jährigen sind. Die zugrunde liegenden Daten stammen aus zwei qualitativen Forschungsprojekten mit ähnlichen Erkenntnisinteressen und Fragestellungen und berücksichtigen Jugendliche aus unterschiedlichen Schulformen. Einbezogen wurden dabei auch junge Menschen mit diversen Lernschwierigkeiten. Der Beitrag geht der Frage nach, welche Zukunftsvorstellungen die Interviewten äußern und inwiefern die Covid-19-Pandemie dabei eine Rolle spielt. The focus of this paper lies on the future perspectives of 12-15 year olds based on 15 biographical interviews. The underlying data are taken from two qualitative research projects with similar research questions and research interests which include young people from different types of schools. Further, young people with diagnosed learning difficulties were included. The article investigates which future perspectives the interviewees express. It also examines whether and to what extend the current Covid 19 pandemic affects these expectations.

Die Corona-Krise ist nicht nur eine medizinische Herausforderung, sondern auch eine gesellschaftliche, politische und wirtschaftliche. Je länger die Corona-Krise andauert, umso mehr tritt die Frage hervor, ob/inwieweit sie unser gesellschaftliches Zusammenleben verändert. Im Beitrag wird die Szenario-Technik „Unsere Zukunft nach der Corona-Krise“ als Unterrichtsreihe vorgestellt und didaktisch begründet. Die Unterrichtsreihe sieht eine Analyse aktueller gesellschaftlicher Entwicklungen und Spannungsfelder im Kontext der Corona-Krise vor, auf deren Grundlage die Schülerinnen und Schüler verschiedene Zukunftsszenarien entwerfen sowie politische Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten für eine wünschenswerte Zukunft entwickeln und diskutieren. Es werden außerdem die ersten Unterrichtserfahrungen mit der entwickelten Szenario-Technik reflektiert.

In summer 2022, the European Union (EU) and India resumed negotiations on a free trade agreement to strengthen their strategic partnership. In addition, both sides are negotiating an investment protection agreement and an agreement on the protection of geographical indications. In this way, the EU wants to diversify its relations with the Indo-Pacific states and underscore India's prominent position. Through cooperation with the EU, India aims to advance its economic and technological modernisation, which is indispensable if the country is to play a greater international role. Unlike the negotiations that failed in 2013, the current negotiations are paradoxically both sim­pler and more complicated. They are simpler because the EU and India are now more aligned on geopolitical issues than ever, especially with regard to China. But they are also more complicated because the success of the negotiations still depends on diffi­cult concessions on both sides. A repeat failure is not an option, how­ever, for either India or the EU in terms of the future of their strategic partnership. (Autorenreferat)

Im Sommer 2022 haben die Europäische Union (EU) und Indien erneut Verhandlungen über ein Freihandelsabkommen aufgenommen, um ihre strategische Partnerschaft zu vertiefen. Darüber hinaus verhandeln die beiden Seiten über ein Investitionsschutzabkommen sowie ein Abkommen zum Schutz geographischer Herkunfts­angaben. Die EU möchte damit ihre Beziehungen zu den Staaten im Indo-Pazifik diversifizieren und unterstreicht Indiens herausgehobenen Stellenwert. Indien will durch die Koope­ra­tion mit der EU seine wirtschaftliche und technologische Modernisierung vorantreiben, die für die angestrebte größere internationale Rolle des Landes unabdingbar ist. Anders als die 2013 gescheiterten Gespräche sind die jetzigen Verhandlungen von dem Paradox gekennzeichnet, zugleich einfacher und komplizierter zu sein. Sie sind einfacher, weil die EU und Indien heute in geopolitischen Fragen vor allem mit Blick auf China mehr Übereinstimmung haben als je zuvor. Sie sind aber auch komplizierter, weil der Erfolg der Verhandlungen weiterhin von schwierigen Zugeständnissen auf beiden Seiten abhängt. In diesem Beitrag wird das Engagement f��r die Fridays for Future (FFF)-Bewegung aus bildungswissenschaftlicher Perspektive in den Blick genommen. Aktives Engagement f��r die FFF-Bewegung wird als Lern- und Erfahrungsraum verstanden und ausgew��hlte Befunde einer Online-Befragung (n=194) vorgestellt. Zum einen werden spezifische Charakteristika der FFF-Bewegung mit Blick auf Lern- und Bildungsprozesse skizziert, zum anderen empirische Analysen zu verschiedenen Beteiligungsm��glichkeiten dargestellt. Dabei wird die Vielfalt der Beteiligungsformate und die Motivation der Engagierten n��her betrachtet und danach gefragt, ob sich je nach Beteiligungsform Unterschiede in den Motiven und der Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung finden lassen. Framing active engagement in the FFF movement theoretically as a learning opportunity, selected findings from an online survey (n=194) are presented. In a theoretical perspective, specific characteristics of the FFF movement are outlined with regard to learning and educational processes. Starting point of the empirical analyses are different possibilities of participation. On the one hand, an insight into the various participation formats is given. On the other hand, it is asked what motivates those involved to work for sustainable development and whether differences in motives and self-efficacy can be found depending on the form of participation. Learning is triggered by surprising events, i.e., a prediction error. Does it benefit learning when these predictions are made deliberately, so that an individual explicitly commits to an outcome before experiencing it? Across two experiments, we tested whether generating an explicit prediction before seeing numerical facts boosts learning of expectancy-violating information relative to doing so post hoc. Across both experiments, predicting boosted memory for highly unexpected outcomes, leading to a U-shaped relation between expectedness and memory. In the post hoc condition, memory performance decreased with increased unexpectedness. Pupillary data of Experiment 2 further indicated that the pupillary surprise response to highly expectancy-violating outcomes predicted successful learning of these outcomes. Together, these findings suggest that generating an explicit prediction increases learners' stakes in the outcome, which particularly benefits learning of those outcomes that are different than expected.

Within the ever-growing body of research on sickness presenteeism, studies of perceived consequences are scarce and equally rare are joint considerations of beneficial and harmful effects. This study examined how experienced and expected consequences of the behavior are related to presenteeism. Positive and negative effects were considered simultaneously and comprehensively. This approach allowed us to capture the trade-off process of individuals in deciding to work or call in sick when ill. In a cross-sectional online survey, 591 working adults in Germany rated a thoroughly developed pool of specific experienced or potential consequences of working while sick and gave an overall judgment of effects. The results show that perceptions of effects are consistent with behavior. Individuals who exhibit presenteeism do so primarily because of work-related effects such as the completion of one’s work tasks and the meeting of deadlines. Few specific effects stand out and can largely explain attendance behavior and the overall assessment of effects. The findings are consistent with the assumptions of the health belief model and the expectancy value theory of work motivation and they relate to the health-performance framework. They demonstrated that benefits and costs of the behavior are simultaneously weighed in the decision to engage in presenteeism or not.

Expectancy-value theory (EVT) proposes that students’ appraisals of success expectancy and task value are the main drivers of their study and career choices. Dimensional comparison theory proposes that these beliefs are themselves affected by students comparing their ability across different domains. However, only a few studies have aimed to integrate these approaches and clarify the role of dimensional comparisons within EVT. Using longitudinal data, we aimed to fill this gap by studying within- and cross-domain effects of achievement (grades and test scores), academic self-concept (as a surrogate for expectancy beliefs), and values on German adolescents’ (N = 519) high school course choices and their intentions to major in a STEM subject at university. We show that (a) self-concepts predicted course choices, whereas values predicted STEM study intentions; (b) dimensional comparison patterns (positive within-domain and negative across-domain relations) were present; (c) gender differences in course choices were mediated by differences in achievement, self-concept, and value; and (d) there was an incremental gender effect on STEM study intentions above and beyond achievement, self-concept, value, and previous course choices. Furthermore, overall, a model incorporating cross-domain paths representing dimensional comparisons fit the data better than a model without these paths. We conclude that direct and indirect dimensional comparison effects contribute to predicting choices of high school courses and university majors and to understanding gender differences in these choices. In der Bildungspolitik werden mehr Lehrpersonen mit Migrationshintergrund gefordert. Es werden diverse W��nsche und Hoffnungen an sie herangetragen. Einer der Gr��nde ist die Bildungsbenachteiligung von Lernenden mit Migrationshintergrund. Lehrkr��fte mit Migrationshintergrund sollen diesem entgegenwirken. Basierend auf diesen Forderungen war das Ziel der vorliegenden Masterarbeit herauszufinden, wie Schulleitungen im Kanton Z��rich Lehrpersonen im Bewerbungsprozess ausw��hlen und inwieweit der Migrationshintergrund der Lehrkraft im schulischen Umfeld eine Rolle spielt. Hierzu wurden vier Schulleitungen im Kanton Z��rich in qualitativen Leitfadeninterviews befragt. Die Interviews wurden transkribiert und anhand der qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse nach Kuckartz (2018) ausgewertet. Die Analyse zeigt auf, dass die F��cherkombination und das Pensum wichtige formale Kriterien sind. Dar��ber hinaus ist f��r die Schulleitungen von Bedeutung, dass die Lehrpersonen ��hnliche p��dagogische und didaktische Ansichten vertreten, im Team zusammenarbeiten und zuverl��ssig sind. Diversit��tsthemen wie Alter, Geschlecht, Biografie und Migrationshintergrund werden ebenfalls als Auswahlkriterien genannt. Letzteres Kriterium wird nur von einer Schulleitung ohne externe Impulse thematisiert. Bedeutsame Punkte beim Migrationshintergrund einer Lehrperson sind ihre Deutschkompetenz, die Mehrsprachigkeit in diversen Kontexten, die interkulturelle Kompetenz und die Vorbildfunktion. Die Ergebnisse bez��glich der Erwartungen an Lehrpersonen mit Migrationshintergrund gleichen denen von Rotter (2014). Zudem spielen affektive Auswahlkriterien, wie zum Beispiel das Bauchgef��hl, ebenfalls eine entscheidende Rolle. Eine zentrale Schlussfolgerung ist, dass das Auswahlverfahren an den Z��rcher Schulen verbessert werden muss, damit institutionelle Diskriminierungen abgebaut werden. Nebstdem hinaus braucht es f��r Lehrpersonen mit Migrationshintergrund biografisch selbstreflexive Schulungen, damit sie ihren Migrationshintergrund professionell im schulischen Umfeld einbringen k��nnen. Hochschule und Weiterbildung (2015) 1, S. 38-41, In der wissenschaftlichen Weiterbildung (wWB) sind Hochschulen mit der Anforderung konfrontiert, Angebote vollkostendeckend zu kalkulieren und in ihrem Studienangebot einer marktorientierten Nachfragelogik zu folgen. In diesem Kontext gewinnt eine kooperationsorientierte Ausrichtung von Hochschulen zunehmend an Bedeutung. Während Universitäten bislang vorrangig als Einzelplayer agieren, werden sie im Zuge der wWB vermehrt zum Kooperationspartner. Dabei stellt sich die Frage, wie potentielle institutionelle Adressaten Hochschulen wahrnehmen. Welche Erwartungen haben Profit-Einrichtungen, Non-Profit-Einrichtungen und Stiftungen an Hochschulen, mit denen sie zusammenarbeiten? Im Rahmen einer Potentialanalyse des Verbundprojektes „WM³ – Weiterbildung Mittelhessen“ konnten differenzierte Erkenntnisse zum Image von Universitäten und zu Kooperationserwartungen generiert werden. Public criticism of professional media is omnipresent in many democratic societies. This debate has often been examined concerning what the audience demands from the media (expectations) or how they evaluate media performance (evaluations). Based on a representative, quota-based online survey of the German population in 2019, this study examines citizens’ expectations, evaluations, and the discrepancies between both, as well as their relationship with media trust, socio-political predispositions—particularly populist attitudes—and individual media use in high-choice media environments. Results show that citizens have high expectations of the media which they mainly do not see fulfilled and that expectation-evaluation discrepancies are related to lower media trust in the case of particularly important and/or most noticeably underperformed media functions. Both expectations and evaluations were associated with populist attitudes, but only in the case of anti-elite attitudes in such a way that increased expectations collide with negative media evaluations. For anti-outgroup attitudes, instead, the analyses show a generally negative assessment of journalistic media, both in terms of expectations and evaluations. Media use does only play a minor role.

Die vorliegende Studie widmet sich der Fragestellung, inwieweit Persönlichkeitsmerkmale und pädagogische Vorerfahrungen im Nachhilfeunterricht als individuelle Eingangsvoraussetzungen Lehramtsstudierender bedeutend sind für Selbstwirksamkeitserwartungen hinsichtlich der Beratung von Schülerinnen und Schülern und inwieweit Selbstwirksamkeitserwartungen im Rahmen des Lehramtsstudiums gezielt gefördert werden können. Basierend auf Fragebogendaten von 200 Lehramtsstudierenden, die im Praxissemester befragt wurden, zeigen multiple Regressionsanalysen, dass hohe Offenheit und geringer Neurotizismus mit hohen Selbstwirksamkeitserwartungen einhergehen. Zudem stehen pädagogische Vorerfahrungen im Nachhilfeunterricht in einem positiven und signifikanten Zusammenhang mit Selbstwirksamkeitserwartungen. (DIPF/Orig.), Our study investigates the effects of personality dispositions and prior pedagogical experiences in teaching on self-efficacy in the counseling of pupils at school. We analyzed questionnaire data of 200 preservice teachers who had made first practical experiences at schools. Multiple regression analyses show that high openness and a low degree of neuroticism as personality dispositions are associated with high self-efficacy in the counseling of pupils. Furthermore, prior pedagogical experiences in teaching are correlated with self-efficacy. Against this background, we discuss implications for teacher education, especially with respect to how preservice teachers’ self-efficacy can be fostered.

Social exclusion, i.e., being kept apart from others and not being allowed to join, is a common phenomenon at school and can have severe consequences for students’ healthy development and success at school. This study examined teachers’ reactions to social exclusion among students focusing on the role of gender. Specifically, we were interested in potential effects of gender-specific socialization and social expectations linked to gender for teachers’ reactions to social exclusion among students. We used hypothetical scenarios in which a student is being excluded from a study group by other students. We focused on the gender of the teacher (as an observer of exclusion) on the one hand and on the gender of the excluded student on the other hand. In the hypothetical scenarios, we varied the gender of the excluded student by using either a typical female or male name. The study included 101 teachers from different school tracks in Germany (Mage= 36.93,SD= 9.84; 84 females, 17 males). We assessed teachers’ evaluations of the exclusion scenario and their anticipated reactions, i.e., how likely they were to intervene in such a situation and what they would specifically do. As expected, the participating teachers showed a general tendency to reject exclusion among students. This tendency was even more pronounced among female teachers compared to male teachers. Interestingly, these gender differences on the attitudinal side did not translate into differences in teachers’ behavioral intentions: for the likelihood to intervene, we did not find any differences based on the gender of the teacher. In terms of the gender of the excluded student, things were different: The gender of the excluded student did not affect teachers’ evaluations of the exclusion scenario. Yet, the gender of the excluded was relevant for participants’ behavioral intentions. Namely, teachers were less likely to intervene in the scenario if a boy was excluded. These findings are in line with considerations related to gender-specific socialization and social expectations linked to gender. Overall, the study demonstrates that gender is an important aspect in the context of social exclusion and further research should explicitly focus on how socialization and gender expectations can explain these findings.

Zürich : SVEB 2022, 23 S. - (Studien zur Weiterbildung), Der SVEB-Branchenmonitor erfasst aktuelle Entwicklungen und Tendenzen im Weiterbildungssektor. Jährlich wird die Entwicklung in vier Dimensionen des Weiterbildungsmarktes beobachtet: Wirtschaftliche Situation, Nachfrage, Angebot, Personal. Gleichzeitig weisen zwei Indikatoren auf die generelle Entwicklung in der Branche hin. Der Branchenindikator zeigt die Bewertung der Branchenlage im vergangenen Jahr (2021) aus Sicht der Anbieter. Der Erwartungsindikator erfasst die Einschätzung der Erwartungen für das laufende Jahr (2022). Der diesjährige SVEB-Branchenmonitor basiert auf den Angaben von 210 Weiterbildungsinstitutionen, die zwischen April und Mai 2022 an der Online-Umfrage teilgenommen haben. Vor zwei Jahren hat der SVEB begonnen, eine systematische Branchenbeobachtung aufzubauen. Dieses Jahr konnte die erste standardisierte Umfrage realisiert werden. Obwohl grundsätzlich die Funktion der Adoleszenz als psychosoziales Moratorium weithin anerkannt ist, scheinen zugleich normative Erwartungen omnipräsent, die sich letztlich auf berufliche Qualifikationsziele richten. Aus einer biografischen Studie von Siegert (2021), die den Titel "Lebenswege erzählen" trägt, lassen sich Zeitbedarfe, Zeitverwendungsmuster und Lebensthemen rekonstruieren, die vor der Verständnisfolie eines linearen Übergangs von der Schule in den Beruf nicht erkennbar sind und auch vom Konzept eines psychosozialen Moratoriums nur unzureichend erfasst werden. Dem Beitrag liegt empirisches Material zugrunde, das illustriert und diskutiert wird. Dabei zeigt sich, dass der Umgang mit der eigenen Gesundheit und Beziehungen zeitintensive Lebens- und Übergangsthemen der Jugendlichen sind, die zeitgleich zum Übergang Schule-Beruf bearbeitet werden. Despite a general recognition of the function of adolescence as a psycho-social moratorium, normative expectations focused primarily on vocational qualifications seem omnipresent. The study "Lebenswege erzählen" by Siegert (2021) provides the empirical basis for the analysis in this article. It contains biographical interviews which allow for the reconstruction of time requirements and patterns and real-life topics occupying adolescents that are not obvious when considering a linear transition from school to work and are also insufficiently covered by the concept of a psycho-social moratorium. It is shown that dealing with one's own health and relationships are time-intensive life and transition topics for young people, which are dealt with at the same time as the transition from school to work.

Les enseignantes et enseignants primaires sont partout dans le monde en charge de la formation de base des élèves. Comment leur statut et leur travail évoluent-ils à mesure que s’intensifient les attentes sociales à leur égard? Une enquête menée dans les sept cantons de la Suisse romande montre comment un plan d’études présenté comme ambitieux compose avec un métier et une formation de généralistes de leur côté tenus de modérer leurs prétentions. Les données récoltées révèlent des tensions et des compromis localement négociés entre, d’un côté les visées pédagogiques d’intégration, de l’autre la division observable du travail du corps enseignant dans chacun des cantons, voire de ses établissements. La comparaison permet de catégoriser quatre types d’envergures statutaires plus ou moins stabilisés: celles de la ou du généraliste respectivement sanctuarisé, concentré, stratifié, augmenté. (DIPF/Orig.), Primary teachers are responsible for students basic training all over the world. How are their status and work changing as social expectations increase? A survey conducted in the seven cantons of French-speaking Switzerland shows how a curriculum presented as ambitious copes with generalist teachers’ profession and training, who in turn are required to moderate their pretensions. The data collected reveal tensions and locally negotiated compromises between pedagogical aims of integration on the one hand, and reality of teachers’ division of labour in each canton (or school) on the other. The comparison makes it possible to categorize four main types of statutory scales: those defining a generalist teacher respectively sanctuarized, concentrated, stratified, increased. Many adolescents in Germany are unable to realize their realistic occupational aspirations when they transition from school to vocational education and training (VET). However, little is known about the underlying circumstances and what the compromises look like when these adolescents come to take up a VET occupation. As parents perform an important socialization role, which is also influential in occupational orientation, this article examines the role of divergent parental expectations. Are parental expectations, which differ from adolescents’ realistic occupational aspirations, related to the probability that adolescents will take up different occupations than they originally aspired to? Are relatively higher or lower parental expectations associated with a corresponding direction of compromise formation? Are there differences between men and women in the relationship between divergent parental expectations and compromise formation? This empirical analysis is based on a sample of 1243 VET entrants from the starting cohort 4 of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS). The compromise formation of the adolescents is measured by comparing their realistic occupational aspirations from ninth grade with their first VET occupation. Results from multinomial logistic regression models show that adolescents adjust their occupational choices to their parents’ divergent expectations. Women are more likely to make compromises that accommodate their parents’ higher expectations.

Bildungsforschung (2022) 2, S. 1-20, Der Beitrag führt in die Fragestellung des Themenheftes ein. Er erläutert die Problematik des Zusammenwirkens von Bildungsforschung und Bildungspraxis vor dem Hintergrund einer systemtheoretischen Perspektive, die von der Differenz der Perspektiven, Interessen und Handlungslogiken von Bildungsforschung und -praxis ausgeht. Skizziert werden bestehende Varianten der Organisation des Zusammenwirkens, etwa bei der Beratung und Begleitung von Projekten, in der nutzeninspirierten Sozialforschung sowie dem Wissenstransfer durch Forschungssynthesen. Gestaltungsorientierte Bildungsforschung wird als eine spezielle Konstellation der Ko-Konstruktion abgegrenzt, bei der Akteure unterschiedlicher Bezugssysteme gleichermaßen an der Lösung eines Bildungsanliegens und der Beantwortung einer Forschungsfrage zusammenarbeiten. Students’ math-related expectancies of success and subjective task values are important predictors of their educational and career choices, such as students’ decisions to persist in or drop out of math-intensive study programs in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Introductory math courses are often a gatekeeper to further engagement and success in STEM fields because students often experience low levels of motivation and achievement in such courses. However, little is known about how students’ expectancies of success and subjective task values change in math gatekeeper courses shortly after the transition to postsecondary education, and to what extent potential declines in these motivational beliefs may contribute to high dropout rates during this critical time period. Building on Eccles and colleagues’ situated expectancy-value theory (Eccles & Wigfield, 2020), the present dissertation thus examined (a) how students’ expectancies of success and task values changed in the first semester of math-intensive study programs, (b) whether the developmental processes of students’ expectancies and task values across the semester differed as a function of students’ personal characteristics (e.g., gender, prior achievement, socioeconomic status), and (c) whether potential motivational declines predicted later academic struggles. The key finding of the present work is that students experienced a motivational shock shortly after the transition to postsecondary education in math-intensive STEM fields, which coincided with the students’ first performance feedback on mandatory math worksheets. Analyses of within-person reciprocal links further suggest that negative deviations in students’ expectancy of being successful in their math course from their personal baseline significantly predicted within-person declines in their interest in and perceived usefulness of the coursework half a semester later. Importantly, the motivational shock significantly predicted students’ academic achievement, study program satisfaction, and course dropout towards the end of the first semester in STEM programs. Female students and students with comparatively lower achievement in high school were at risk of more negative motivational trajectories. Taken together, these results underscore the importance of short-term motivational declines as early warning signs of low academic achievement and dropout tendencies in math-intensive STEM programs. Motivational interventions are thus needed in the very early stages of students’ postsecondary education in math-intensive STEM fields in order to increase students’ study success and retention in STEM fields.
