In Italian society, known for the massive presence of so-called traditional families, different forms of it are nowadays spreading. The scientific and political debates on this issue are very intense and the common view of family is changing. Taking as a reference the theory of social representations and in particular the central nucleus theory, the present study aims to evoke the social representation (SR) of family in two different Italian groups: 220 young adults and 83 older adults. A semi-structured questionnaire divided into two sections was used: an open question (content) and a task of free associations, based on the technique of hierarchical evocations (structure). A content analysis and a representational structure analysis were applied. Comparing the SRs emerged among the two groups, young adults evoking family as an entity connoted predominantly in an affective way, while older adults evoking positive values declined in a more concrete and pragmatic way.

In recent years, medical care has come a long way thanks to technological improvements in diagnostics and treatment. Healthcare providers have developed many new care pathways, improving the organisation of care processes. In this context, the care pathway reduces the patient’s choices, and the relationship between the health professional and the patient is less personal; the main drawback of this is that it could lead to dehumanisation of the patient. In 2015, the Local Health Unit of Naples (ASL NA1) set up the “Humanisation” project with the aim of accepting the patient as unique – as a human being – in care pathways. In this paper, we analyse the features of health professionals’ satisfaction related to various aspects of a training course for health workers involved in the Humanisation project. We use a recent implementation of classification trees for ordered categorical response variables in order to identify the most relevant determinants of satisfaction. The results show that the main determinants of participants’ satisfaction are the professional competence and responsiveness of the teachers, the skills acquired in the training course and increased personal awareness as a perceived outcome. Implications for the implementation of the Humanisation project are discussed.

Il saggio è dedicato alla presentazione dei risultati di una ricerca satellite incentrata sull'analisi dell’impatto psicosociologico della crisi. L’ottica teorica prescelta è quella delle Rappresentazioni sociali di Moscovici, intese come un sistema di valori, di idee e di pratiche dotato di una doppia funzione: stabilire un ordine che consenta agli individui di orientarsi nel loro mondo fisico e sociale, e di dominarlo, così come di permettere la comunicazione tra i membri di una comunità, fornendo loro un codice utile a nominare e classificare, i differenti aspetti del loro mondo e della loro storia individuale e collettiva. L’obiettivo è quello di conoscere - in termini sincronici - l’articolazione interna degli elementi cognitivo-affettivi su cui gli intervistati (distinti per genere, nazionalità, contesto di residenza e titolo di studio) costruiscono le proprie griglie d’interpretazione della crisi, confrontandole - in una prospettiva diacronica - con quelle rilevate in precedenti studi condotti dagli stessi autori. I risultati della ricerca, evidenziano che le rappresentazioni sociali della crisi, a prescindere dall'anno di rilevazione dei dati, dal genere e dallo status dei partecipanti, appaiono fortemente consensuali e stabili. Tutte le loro “teorie di senso comune” sulla crisi, ruotano intorno alla perdita del lavoro e alla paura del futuro, ad un senso di precarietà, dunque, che dal mondo del lavoro si riverbera su tutti gli aspetti della vita dei soggetti coinvolti nello studio.

In order to analyse the common sense theories about the economic thinking and acting, this research has been conducted with the theoretical framework of the Social Representation Theory. By interviewing Italian and Greek participants belonging to different social groups, we examined how expert and lay people face this phenomenon. Inspired by the Structural Approach, which considers SRs as constituted of two parts (a structure and a content), data were collected through specific strategies and were created ad hoc: hierarchized evocations, characterization and multiple choice questionnaires. Four groups of participants (N=120 for each country; n=30 for each group; gender balanced) were employed: university students (second/third year; Faculty of economics), mid-level bank clerks, shopkeepers, and laypeople. Obtained data were treated with rang/frequency and similarity/network analysis, as well as mono and bivariate statistical analysis. The main findings demonstrate culture and group membership differences in the ways participants define and foresee strategies to face the crisis. In particular, in both Italian and Greek samples, differences between expert and lay groups are clear. Methodological implications associated with combining qualitative and quantitative methods, in SRT’s Structural Approach, are presented and discussed.

The purpose of this study is to identify the social representations of justice, circulating among young Neapolitan students, and to verify if they are different from each other, starting from the different social environment of production. We have chosen a qualiquantitative approach using a semi-structured questionnaire consisting of two sections: the first one aimed at identifying the representational structures of justice and the second one useful to reconstruct the content of these representations. Two groups of high school students, belonging to opposite local contexts, both from structural and socio-economical point of view, took part in the study. The results, discussed from their theoretical, methodological and applicative implications, confirm the presence of interesting differences between the two SRs

Starting from our common experience at the European Laboratory of Social Psychology (MSH, Paris), we move to a series of methodological reflections on the development of appropriate intercultural research strategies and techniques. In the same way, we make a reflection on the creation of an international team and on the best ways to work together. In our approach we have always paid great attention to the goal sharing, to the methods of decision‑making, to the members’ skills endorsement, as well as to the language and collaborative dialogue. The aim of the present study is to investigate how children think culture, in the theoretical perspective of the Moscovici's (1961) Social Representations. The research was carried out in Naples (Italy) on 138 pupils of two lower secondary schools. According to the Community Profile of the City of Naples (Comune di Napoli, 2012), through a non random judgment sampling, the interviewees were divided into two different subsamples: mid-high economic status and mid-low economic status. The main purpose was to explore the influence of participants' status differences on their representation of the object. Research methodology is based on the Drawing Technique that is considered one of the best tool to interview developmental age subjects (Galli, Nigro & Poderico, 1989; Galli & Fasanelli, 1995;). Effectively, the drawing represents the most powerful and direct way of children expression. Participants were asked "to draw culture", then to comment on their drawings and in the end to define culture. Data collected through this strategy, were processed by a categorical-frequency content analysis. Our results showed both convergent and divergent representations among the two different economic status subsamples. On the one hand the iconographic identification of culture (as " school/teaching" actions) is similar for all the children involved in the study, on the other hand the definition of culture is different between the two subsamples. The mid-high economic status participants showed a culture representation focused on the classic role of the artist and the art, instead the mid-low economic status children showed a culture representation based on the folks costumes and traditions.

L’analisi del potere come fenomeno sociale ha una lunga tradizione e le prospettive empiriche attraverso le quali è stato affrontato sono molto diverse tra loro. Solo di recente i ricercatori si sono cimentati nella formulazione di teorie integrative sulle relazioni di potere, applicabili contemporaneamente alle relazioni interpersonali così come a quelle intergruppo (Doise, 1986). Le correnti teoriche sul Social power possono essere collocate nei livelli di analisi proposti da Doise. L’Approach-Inhibition Theory of Power di Keltner, Gruenfeld e Anderson (2003), che si situa a cavallo tra i livelli intra ed interpersonale, colloca l’influenza del potere sul piano del comportamento individuale. Keltner e collaboratori, infatti, definiscono il potere come la capacità del singolo di modificare la condizione altrui, fornendogli o sottraendogli risorse, oppure somministrandogli punizioni. Questi autori individuano nelle variabili individuali, diadiche, intragruppo ed intergruppo, le quattro principali determinanti del potere personale; essi sostengono che un elevato potere sociale attiva l’Approach System, mentre un ridotto potere sociale attiva l’Inhibition System. Come si evince dalla vastissima letteratura internazionale esistente, lo studio del potere può essere affrontato in modi anche molto diversi tra loro. E tuttavia le potenzialità euristiche offerte dalla Teoria delle rappresentazioni sociali di Serge Moscovici (1961, 1989, 2001) appaiono ancora inesplorate. L’obiettivo di questa ricerca è di indagare il potere in quest’ottica teorica.

L’articolo presenta una ricerca internazionale sulla rappresentazione sociale della crisi economica diretta da Ida Galli e realizzata nell’ambito delle attività del Centro Mediterraneo per lo studio delle Rappresentazioni Sociali (CeMeRS). Data la complessità e l’estrema attualità dell’oggetto di analisi, è stato scelto un approccio “multi metodo”. Il disegno complessivo della ricerca ha previsto tre distinte tappe: la prima descrittiva, la seconda interpretativa e la terza comparativa. In ciascuno dei paesi implicati (Francia, Grecia, Italia e Romania), sono stati coinvolti nello studio soggetti appartenenti a tre categorie socio-economiche differenti: impiegati di banca, piccoli commercianti e studenti in Economia. La scelta ragionata dei partecipanti, ci ha consentito di testare empiricamente la nozione di “distanza dall’oggetto”. Le strategie e le tecniche di rilevazione ed analisi dei dati utilizzate, complesse e per certi versi assolutamente innovative, sono ben descritte nel corpo del testo. L’articolo rende conto unicamente dei risultati relativi alla prima tappa della ricerca.

La ricerca presentata in questo articolo si iscrive nella tradizione di studi della Psicologia sociale della salute di ispirazione socio costruttivista ed ha avuto lo scopo di studiare la “psicosi di massa” che ha coinvolto i consumatori italiani a partire dalla diffusione delle informazioni relative alla propagazione del virus dell’influenza aviaria. Si tratta di un approccio eterodosso alla Risk psychology realizzato nella prospettiva teorica delle Rappresentazioni sociali. Lo studio è stato realizzato per offrire una risposta alla questione relativa all’esistenza di differenze tra le rappresentazioni sociali dell’influenza aviaria co-costruite da coloro che, alla minaccia di pandemia, hanno risposto modificando i propri comportamenti alimentari (n = 58) e quelle di coloro che non hanno modificato affatto i propri consumi (n = 56). Il fine è stato quello di trovare una spiegazione a tali comportamenti. Le “strutture” ed i “contenuti” delle rappresentazioni in questione, sono stati studiati mediante il ricorso ad una combinazione di metodi qualitativi e quantitativi (Tecnica delle Evocazioni gerarchizzate, Intervista semi-strutturata). I risultati ottenuti sono esaminati e largamente discussi nel testo.

Il volume rappresenta una felice sintesi tra passato e presente, come è prerogativa delle ricerche appartenenti alla cultura umanistica, che ha a oggetto lo studio dell’esperienza umana considerata nella sua globalità.
