Disputes between Sri Lanka and India over the Tamil issue, the issue of fishers, refugees, the island of Kachchativu, and the maritime bor-der have strained relations between Sri Lanka and India. This caused Sri Lanka to look elsewhere for support. Rajapaksa has reduced Sri Lanka's ties with India and expanded its ties with China and Pakistan, who have helped Sri Lanka's economic development and defense from insurgen-cy. Recognizing the strategic impor-tance of Sri Lanka and the Indian Ocean, China has built ports andvarious projects in Sri Lanka. These relations between China, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka affect India's security. This paper describes the impact on India from the relationship devel-oped between Sri Lanka with China, Pakistan and the US. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
