The uniaxial compressive strength is a main parameter to be considered in design of masonry structures, particularly due to gravitational loads. This dataset collection comprises test on various masonry prisms made of hollow concrete blocks. These prisms are divided into three groups: prisms consisting of 2, 3, and 4 courses, respectively. All prisms underwent testing with mortar applied over the net area (full-shell) and on the lateral face (face-shell-bedding). Ten prisms were tested for each arrangement, meaning 10 prisms with 2 courses using full-shell placement, 10 with face-shell placement, and so forth for 3 and 4 course prisms. Two linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs) were added to every prism for displacement measurements. Load measurements were conducted by using an Instron machine for the prisms with two courses, a Tinius Olsen machine for those with three courses, and a loading frame for the four-course prisms. The presented dataset includes strain-stress curves that underwent analysis and filtering. These data hold significance as numerous researchers conduct projects in this domain, and experimental results play a crucial role in validating numerical and analytical models.

Accurate observation of precipitation data is crucial for hydrometeorological applications, requiring temporal and spatial precision. Satellite precipitation products offer a promising solution for obtaining precipitation estimates, facilitating long-term observations from global to local scales. However, assessing their accuracy compared to rain gauge observations is essential. This study aims to assess the accuracy and applicability of precipitation data from CMORPH, IMERG, and PERSIANN CCS in the Rio Grande–San Juan Basin in northeast Mexico. The evaluation of estimated precipitation was assessed using the Pearson and Spearman correlations, RMSE, MAE, and BIAS for both monthly and yearly averages. CMORPH showed minimal errors and low underestimation, while IMERG exhibited high correlations with consistent underestimation. PERSIANN CCS had lower correlations, significant overestimation, and higher errors. The Mann–Kendall (MK) test was used to determinate the precipitation trends of observed and estimated data. The observed data showed a significant positive trend in monthly averages, which is not reflected in the annual trend. Furthermore, negative annual trends were found in at least 10 stations across the basin. The application of satellite precipitation data yielded mixed outcomes, with CMORPH showing the highest level of agreement with the trend analysis results from rain gauge data. This demonstrates its reliability for weather and climate studies and suggests the potential for CMORPH to be used as an input in hydrological modeling.

Reservoirs are highly relevant infrastructure assets, and now, more than ever, they play an essential role in society’s welfare and national security. Their importance is related to regional socioeconomic development due to their capacity to store water for different uses, such as human consumption, agricultural irrigation, flood control, and hydroelectric energy production, among other important services. However, many reservoirs are reaching the end of their period of life, and others are showing undesired displacements and cracking. Four 3D surveys were conducted on a reservoir that serves the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey City in Mexico. These surveys were carried out over a period of 5 years using GNSS observation to assist in understanding the actual dam kinematics, i.e., the behavior of its longitudinal and transversal displacements and the possible correlation with the reservoir level. The high-precision leveling and close-range remote sensing data were assessed and then mapped. The high-precision geodetic and leveling techniques allowed us to locate and measure 84 established permanent control points with errors of about ± 0.003 m. The mapping of displacements was made possible by modeling the positive and negative translations. The highest uplifts (11 mm) occurred at the left riverbank, and the highest subsidences (−5 mm) occurred along the downstream piers from the middle of the dam crest to the right riverbank. A ground laser scanner (GLS) produced 3D digital models with geometrical and radiometric characteristics, detecting displacements among the dam crest elements. The synergy of GNSS and high-leveling techniques allows the possibility to measure displacements, while the use of geographical information system (GIS) and geomatic techniques allows a better visualization through 2D and 3D maps validated using traditional topographical methods.

El objetivo del trabajo es emplear la técnica de Correlación de Imágenes Digitales (DIC) para analizar los desplazamientos en muretes de mampostería sometidos a compresión axial, sin usar un programa comercial. Se desarrolló un algoritmo empleando el método numérico de Newton Raphson para este propósito. Los resultados obtenidos fueron comparados con las mediciones del transductor diferencial lineal variable (LVDT), validando la eficacia del algoritmo y comparándolos con estudios previos, con errores aceptables. Este trabajo forma parte de un proyecto en curso en el Instituto de Ingeniería Civil de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, estableciendo las bases para futuras investigaciones sobre la implementación de la técnica para la obtención de patologías y estados deformacionales en estructuras de mampostería.
