Lutjanus or snappers usually known as economical fish in Indonesia and worldwide. This research aims to observe the different phylogeography correlation of Lutjanus bengalensis in Indonesia Waters and South China Sea used COI gene marker. The primary data collected from fish port Pulo Aceh, Indonesia (5 sequences), while the population of others region such as Bali (3 sequences) and Maluku (3 sequences) was retrieved from NCBI GenBank. South China Sea represented by sampled from Taiwan (3 sequences) and Hongkong (3 sequences) that also retrieved from NCBI Genbank. In total 17 sequences were analysed the diversity of haplotypes 0-1 and the diversity of nucleotide 0-0.030. Based on this researched data, it will become basic data for spesies management for Lutjanus bengalensis in Indonesia.

Sperm cryopreservation is a sperm storage method that needs to be developed to ensure the availability of climbing perch fish (Anabas testudineus) sperm considering the difficulty of providing quality broodstock. This study aims to determine the effect of several types and concentrations of cryoprotectants on the DNA integrity of climbing perch fish sperm after cryopreservation for 14 days at a temperature of -196 ℃. Analysis of sperm DNA integrity used the gel electrophoresis method. This research consists of four types of cryoprotectants; Each type of cryoprotectant consists of two concentration levels. The cryoprotectant concentrations used were DMSO (concentrations 10 and 20%), Methanol (concentrations 10 and 20%), Glycerol (concentrations 5 and 20%), and Ethanol (concentrations 5 and 15%) as well as control treatment and fresh sperm treatment. Based on the results of the DNA integrity analysis of climbing perch fish sperm, it showed that all sperm DNA samples did not form fragments, meaning that there was no damage to climbing perch fish sperm DNA in all samples tested, both fresh sperm samples and post-cryopreserved sperm samples.

Anabas testudineus, the climbing perch, is a valuable and well-liked freshwater fish with significant commercial worth. This fish is found in Indonesia and other parts of Asia. Nonetheless, there hasn't been much research done on the genetic relationships across Asian populations of climbing perch. Thus, the aim of this work was to use the mitochondrial COI gene to examine the phylogeography of A. testudineus in freshwater Asia. The population sample was taken from South Aceh, Indonesia. The sample was extracted using a modified C-TAB protocol. In all, 48 sequences from the Genbank and three sequences from South Aceh were included in this investigation. Seven samples came from Indonesia, three from Malaysia, nine from Philippines, seven from Vietnam, eight from Thailand, ten from India, and four from Bangladesh. According to the findings, the sequences formed 17 different haplotypes. For every population, the haplotype diversity (Hd) value is 0.897. The genetic distance measuring the closest populations is 0.0007 between Indonesia and Philippines, whereas Indonesia and Vietnam populations are the furthest apart, at 0.0904. Between 0 and 0.0157 is the genetic distance within the population. Thus, the populations of A. testudineus in Aceh and Indonesia and the Philippines are genetically more similar.

Abstract. Geotourism has become well-known all around Indonesia as many places sustain distinctive characters – from the environment, aesthetics, culture, to residents. Keramikan, without exception, located in the borders of Kecamatan Suoh and Bandar Negeri Suoh has captured many local tourists by its exceptional geological and scientific importance: geothermal site. However, both tourists and the management have to struggle to enjoy this attractive geosite because of the lack of accessibility and amenity. Therefore, attempt measures were done to exaggerate the beauty of Keramikan geothermal site as a tourism site or geosite, including a) story-based socialization for locals that they can explain many ‘whys’ inside the site to the coming tourists, b) explaining through video the existing condition of accessibility and amenity as well as how the management can improve, c) poster making and distribution to start the health and safety awareness of the public, independent tourism organization, and Keramikan workers, and the government. Although attractions are undeniably appealing for stakeholders and tourists, the fact that accessibility and amenity cannot be improved due to regulation and license restrictions will be the downfall for the management. Pengelolaan daerah wisata ini sudah dilakukan, namun perlu dorongan dan pengetahuan sebagai upaya meningkatkan daya tarik pengunjung. Upaya peningkatan daya tarik dilakukan dengan menyosialisasikan kejadian Kawah Keramikan dan sekitarnya dari sudut pandang geologi dan legenda setempat kepada media massa dan mitra, yaitu Kelompok Sadar Wisata, pengelola, komunitas ojek, Kecamatan Suoh, dan Dinas Pariwisata Lampung Barat. Upaya ini dilengkapi dengan pembuatan dan menyosialisasi video berisikan aspek atraksi, aksesibilitas dan amenitas. Mitra juga dibekali dengan manfaat-manfaat air panas serta himbauan kesehatan dan keselamatan kepada pengunjung. Mitra mengalami peningkatan pemahaman potensi dengan disosialisasikannya potensi pengembangan kepada komunitas ojek, pengelola, dan Kelompok Sadar Wisata dari segi atraksi. Namun, pemerintah, Dinas Pariwisata, dan pengelola Wisata Keramikan Suoh tidak dapat melakukan perbaikan akses dan pengembangan fasilitas pendukung (amenitas) karena perizinan. Selain observasi lapangan, metode wawancara juga dilakukan dengan hasil aksesibilitas dan amenitas yang kurang memadai akan mengurangi minat pengunjung walaupun Wisata Keramikan Suoh memiliki atraksi kuat. Solusi permasalahan ini tidak dapat langsung dijawab, tetapi potensi dan hal-hal yang menghambat pengembangan wisata sudah diangkat ke pihak-pihak yang berwenang. The orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) is one of the most popular fish in aquaculture due to its high economic value. However, the random occurrence of slow-growing population has led to profit loss. Therefore, transcriptomic analysis was performed to identify the molecular mechanisms involved in driving slow and fast growth, towards addressing this issue. Results show that low expression of developmental genes such as bone morphogenetic protein 1 (BMP 1) and somatostatin (SST), as well as GH/IGF axis-related genes (IGF-1, IGF2, IGFBP1, IGFBP2) and its downstream signalling pathways are correlated with the metabolism and digestive-system-related pathways in slow-growing groupers. Enrichment analysis further revealed that cellular process and biological regulation, as well as several pathways including glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, linoleic acid metabolism, protein digestion and absorption, and cholesterol metabolism were differentially expressed in slow-growing groups. The findings implied that the genomic architecture of growth between the different families raised and the likely problem of inbreeding have led to significantly reduced growth. It is also suggested that better husbandry practices (optimal dietary requirement) is also vital in supporting the success of a genetic improvement programme. These findings recommend growth improvement of orange-spotted groupers via molecular monitoring and artificial selection, complemented by specific dietary feeding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Groupers are among the fish groups that are difficult to recognize due to their high morphological similarities. Therefore, molecular techniques, particularly DNA barcoding, are extensively utilized to differentiate this fish group. This study aimed to analyze and validate six grouper species belonging to the Epinephelidae family that were harvested from Langsa district waters in Aceh province, Indonesia, based on DNA barcode data. It was conducted from June to December 2021, with the fish specimens collected from fishers at fish landing sites and the fish market in Langsa City, Aceh province. A total of 22 grouper sequences belonging to six species were generated, namely Epinephelus coioides, E. bleekeri, E. malabaricus, E. erythrurus, E. sexfasciatus and Mycteroperca poecilonotus (formerly Epinephelus poecilonotus). Genetic distance within these species ranged from 0.10 to 0.73% (average: 0.40%). Notably, E. malabaricus and E. coioides exhibited the closest genetic kinship (4.07%), while E. sexfasciatus and M. poecilonotus displayed the greatest genetic distance (19.33%). This study provides the first DNA reference for grouper in Langsa district, Indonesia, with significant implications for future sustainable grouper management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan bagaimana peran aksara jawa dalam pembentukan karakter anak melalui program pendampingan belajar yang dilakukan oleh orangtua selama masa pandemi. Pada penelitian ini peneliti akan berfokus pada bagaimana aksara jawa dapat membentuk karakter anak melalui program pendampingan belajar yang dilakukan oleh orangtua di Desa Pekuncen, Karanglewas, Banyumas. Aksara jawa merupakan salah satu dari sekian banyak budaya di Indonesia. Dari hasil wawancara yang dilakukan, aksara jawa dapat membentuk karakter anak. Pembentukan karakter pada anak dapat dilakukan oleh orangtua dengan berbagai program salah satunya dengan menggunakan program pendampingan belajar. Pendampingan belajar orangtua dalam mengenalkan aksara jawa kepada anak dapat dilakukan dengan metode; (i) menceritakan sejarah singkat aksara jawa, (ii) mengenalkan kepada anak apa saja bentuk tulisan aksara jawa dan bagaimana cara membacanya, (iii) membimbing anak untuk belajar cara membaca dan menulis aksara jawa. Namun dalam prosesnya tidaklah mudah karena tidak semua anak langsung tertarik untuk belajar aksara jawa.

Gastropods are a highly abundant group of mollusks in the marine environment. Marine gastropods primarily function as prey for other animals, grazers which help recycle nutrients and increase bioturbation activities in the marine ecosystem. Edible gastropods are significant to the economy of coastal communities. However, overexploitation leads to harming the population of marine gastropods. The study aimed to determine the diversity of gastropods harvested at Guangguang, Mati City, Davao Oriental. It also assessed the abundance of the identified gastropods in the area. This study used purposive sampling to enroll gleaners (N = 30) who collected shells and monitored their gastropod harvest. The harvested gastropods were segregated, counted, and identified with the help of gleaners. A total of ten gastropod species were identified from the family of Strombidae, Conidae, Neritidae, Cypraeidae, and Turbinidae. The most abundant group after harvest was Canarium urceus, with a relative abundance of 67%, followed by Ilyanassa obsoleta, with 22%. However, the least harvested species was Nerita, with a relative abundance of 0.18%. The findings revealed that the harvested gastropods in Guang-guang have a diversity index of 0.99, indicating a low diversity of gastropods in the area. This low diversity could mean the area experienced overexploitation through time as gleaners have heavily harvested gastropods. With that, it is highly recommended that conservation should be prioritized to preserve the seashells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of the present study was to analyze the morphometric variations of the three presumed taxa within the Barbonymus group, namely B. gonionotus, referred to locally as naleh; B. schwanenfeldii, referred to locally as lampam-A; and Barbonymus sp. referred to locally as lampam-B. The naleh samples were collected from Nagan Raya District, while lampam-A and lampam-B were collected from Aceh Tamiang District, Indonesia. Traditional morphometric characters were measured in 150 fish samples (50 individuals of every taxon). The results of univariate (ANOVA) and multivariate (Discriminant function analysis, DFA) analyses showed that lampam-A and lampam-B have overlapping morphological characteristics, whereas naleh were distinctly different. Therefore, it is presumed that lampan A and lampan B are the same species of B. schwanenfeldii. It was concluded that the morphometric data indicated that there are two species of Barbonymus in Aceh waters, i.e., B. schwanenfeldii and B. gonionotus.

The peacock hind grouper (Cephalopholis argus) is among several highly exploited grouper fishes globally. Categorized as least concern (LC) in the IUCN, biological data on the species is limited, especially in the Aceh region. This research targeted to investigate the biological features of the C. argus fished on the northern coast of Aceh. The fish samples were collected from Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera (PPS) Lampulo, Kuta Alam District, Banda Aceh, Aceh from June - September 2020. Overall, 30 specimens C. argus were compiled in this study. The total length (TL) varied between 136.0-284.0 mm, while weight (W) ranged between 46.5-460.0 g. In addition, Fulton's condition (K) ranged from 1.45-4.61, and relative weight (Wr) ranged from 81.75-128.53 g. The LWRs analysis revealed a b value of 3.1329 with a correlation coefficient of 0.94, indicating a positive allometric growth pattern. This study provides length-weight relationships (LWR) and condition factors value for the peacock hind grouper that will assist in building a feasible management of the fish.

The objective of the present study was to determine the optimum dosage of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) in the diet of keureling, Tor tambra (Val.) fingerlings for optimal growth performance and feed utilization. Five doses of vitamin E were tested: 0 mg kg−1 feed (control); 150 mg kg−1 feed; 300 mg kg−1 feed; 450 mg kg−1 feed; 600 mg kg−1. The feed ratio was 5% body weight, which was delivered twice daily at 08:00 and 17:00 for 60 days. The results showed that higher growth performance, feeding conversion ratios, feed efficiency, protein retention, and protein digestibility were obtained at 600 mg kg−1 feed, but the value was not significantly different from the other doses. The optimal dose in terms of the hepatosomatic index and survival rate was 300 mg kg−1. Hence, it was concluded that the optimum, most economical dose of vitamin E supplement for keureling (T. tambra) was 150 mg kg−1 feed, because this value was not significantly different from the doses of 300 and 600 mg kg−1 feed.

Barramundi, Lates calcarifer is one of the commercial fish in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries. The species inhabits the coastal waters and is vulnerable to changes in the terrestrial environment due to coastal degradation, pollution, and global warming. The increase in temperature as a consequence of global warming affects the distribution and survival of aquatic organisms including fish. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of increasing water temperatures on the physiological conditions and gill histology of barramundi. The fish were exposed to eight levels of water temperature, ranging from 28oC to 35oC, for 15 days. The initial temperature was 28oC, which increased gradually by 1oC per 12-hour. Blood samples were taken at the end of the experiment for hemoglobin, glucose, cortisol, erythrocytes, leucocytes, and blood abnormality analyses. Gill samples were also taken for histological analysis. The results showed that water temperature significantly affected the level of glucose, cortisol, and erythrocyte cells (P<0.05), but did not influence hemoglobin levels and survival rate (P>0.05). A rapid increase in glucose and cortisol levels was also discovered at a temperature of 31oC above. The highest erythrocyte cell count was found at 35oC, gill cell abnormalities were occurred at temperature of 31 oC and above, and the blood abnormalities increased linearly with water temperature. Based on these results, it is concluded that the water temperature did not affect the survival rate but the increase in temperature causes intense physiological stress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
