Objectives: COVID-19 was triggered by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2, leading to a pandemic. The risk of developing dysphonia and dysphagia amongst COVID-19 patients is considered to be high. Methods: In this prospective study, 150 patients affected by COVID-19 admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and the ward of Firoozgar Hospital in Tehran, Iran, were analyzed. Dysphagia and dysphonia were evaluated according to the swallowing impairment score and the consensus auditory-perceptual evaluation of voice (CAPE-V). Also, the quality of life (QoL) was measured using the Persian version of the voice handicap index, the swallowing QoL and the Persian version of the dysphagia handicap index (DHI). Results: A total of 150 COVID-19 patients (mean age: 59.64±17.87 years and 54.3% male; 75 admitted patients to the ICU and 75 patients admitted to the ward) were evaluated. A total of 115(77%) patients with COVID-19 were experiencing dysphagia, and the prevalence of dysphagia did not vary meaningfully between the two sets. We received a complaint of fever and tachypnea from a 6-year-old girl who came to our hospital. She was treated for 20 days with antibiotics and corticosteroids. She was admitted for 10 days with a diagnosis of pneumonia and was discharged after the fever subsided. Two days after her discharge, the respiratory symptoms returned, and she came to us because of the severity of her symptoms. We diagnosed her with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), performed the necessary radiographic and laboratory procedures, and the following outcomes were obtained: the computed tomography scan revealed consolidation between the right lung’s upper and middle lobes as well as an air bronchogram, but the chest ultrasound revealed no signs of pleural effusion. D-dimer, white blood cell, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and C-reactive protein were also high in the laboratory test results, indicating pulmonary inflammation. She was finally diagnosed with CAP, and although the cause of the illness is unknown, she underwent a 14-day course of common antibiotics. Two days after the medication began, the fever subsided, and the tachypnea decreased. We believe that the corticosteroid treatment during the initial hospital stay is what caused the disease agent to persist and cause the fever to recur.

4D printing of composites (4DPC) is a technique that can make composite structures with curved geometry without the need to use a curved mold (only a flat mold is used). This technique has been used to make composite springs and cones, where not only the shape is obtained but the mechanical properties are equivalent to those made using conventional technique (where a curved mold is used). The principle of operation of 4DPC utilized anisotropy in unsymmetric laminates as the mechanism for the shape transformation. However it is not always straightforward that a certain unsymmetric lay-up of composite layers will provide a certain shape. Hyer [1,2] observed that laminate theory is accurate to predict the shape of the [0/90] laminate only in some cases, but not in all cases. He attributed this to the assumption of linear relation between the strains and displacements. He then used the non-linear relation between strains and displacements and assumed some functional forms for them. This approach was able to predict the shape of square thin laminates such as those made of [0/90] and [02/902] lay sequences, but not for rectangular laminates or laminates of other shapes. Finite element method was also used for this prediction. This method worked only with some twikking of the modeling procedure. As such work of previous researchers in the past more than 40 years only show success in ad-hoc situations. The reason for this is due to the lack of an explanation for why there are so many different shapes in different situations. The work in this paper provides an explanation as to why there are different shapes for different situations. This understanding provides a direction for the development of a new finite element procedure that can determine the shape of the laminates in different situations. The new understanding is used to explain the behavior of many cases. This new finite element procedure is then used to generate guidelines on the effect of different parameters such as the effect of geometric dimensions, and material properties on the final shape. These guidelines are useful for the selection of lay-up sequences to make structures in the technique of 4D printing of composites.

Although employee citizenship behavior has significant effect on quality of service delivery and consequently on creating superior tourist experience and competitive advantage for tourism businesses and destinations, but tourist citizenship behavior can facilitate reaching these goals, specifically through value co creation. In spite of that, most studies concentrate on employees’ citizenship behavior ignoring behaviors of travelers. Therefore, present study seeks to identify dimensions of tourist citizenship behavior of cultural heritage tourists traveling through tours. The statistical population of this study encompasses all inbound tourists who have visited Iran as cultural heritage tours. 384 people yield as a sample of population, through convenient sampling. To ensure the validity, the questionnaire was examined by experts and confirmed, similarly reliability via Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. The data analysis was conducted in SPSS software via confirmatory factor analysis. Findings revealed 11 dimensions of tourist citizenship behavior including: cooperation, establishing peace and intimacy, sacrifice, patience and sympathy, active participation, support, recommendation, aid and assistance, establishing order, compensation and interpersonal interaction. Based on findings of current research, citizenship behavior in cultural and heritage tourism can enrich their experiences since fosters co creation of value and also active participation cultural heritage tourists, moving towards creative tourism. Tourism businesses and destinations managers should pave the way for expressing these behaviors, creating excellent experience for tourists in addition to co creation of value with them.

Photosynthetic eukaryotes have metabolic pathways that occur in distinct subcellular compartments. However, because metabolites synthesized in one compartment, including fixed carbon compounds and reductant generated by photosynthetic electron flows, may be integral to processes in other compartments, the cells must efficiently move metabolites among the different compartments. This review examines the various photosynthetic electron flows used to generate ATP and fixed carbon and the trafficking of metabolites in the green alga Chlamydomomas reinhardtii; information on other algae and plants is provided to add depth and nuance to the discussion. We emphasized the trafficking of metabolites across the envelope membranes of the two energy powerhouse organelles of the cell, the chloroplast and mitochondrion, the nature and roles of the major mobile metabolites that move among these compartments, and the specific or presumed transporters involved in that trafficking. These transporters include sugar-phosphate (sugar-P)/inorganic phosphate (Pi) transporters and dicarboxylate transporters, although, in many cases, we know little about the substrate specificities of these transporters, how their activities are regulated/coordinated, compensatory responses among transporters when specific transporters are compromised, associations between transporters and other cellular proteins, and the possibilities for forming specific ‘megacomplexes’ involving interactions between enzymes of central metabolism with specific transport proteins. Finally, we discuss metabolite trafficking associated with specific biological processes that occur under various environmental conditions to help to maintain the cell’s fitness. These processes include C4 metabolism in plants and the carbon concentrating mechanism, photorespiration, and fermentation metabolism in algae.

Improving the management of water resources on a global scale is critical at this time. The risks that water bodies are currently exposed to, whether due to climate change or human conditions, affect the availability and quality of water in watersheds around the world. However, water management has emerged as a complex problem. In this light, one of the most promising methods is the construction of dynamic simulation models that may include the largest possible number of variables, not just hydrological. This paper presents a decision support system for the integrated management of water distribution and wastewater collection networks. The proposed method uses system dynamics (simulation with Vensim software) to integrate water and sewage networks with financial and socio-political sectors, which allows the rate adjustment and planning of integrated operational and capital infrastructure of water and sewage in three provinces of the Tabriz region during their life cycle (50 years). The results show that the integrated framework enables the company to accelerate financing for capital and operational works and improve the level of integrated services due to the integration of financial resources of water and sewage. In practice, the proposed integrated framework empowers water and wastewater utilities to manage and plan their assets in an integrated approach to improve the infrastructural, financial, and socio-political performance of their water and wastewater assets compared to separate management. Physical asset management is the only way for water and sewage companies to solve financial, social and infrastructural problems. The sewerage network studied here needs a little more capital work to meet the deficit policy lever of very damaged pipes compared to the water distribution network, which is in a relatively better condition. Implementing a borrowing management strategy for the sewer network to accelerate capital work, a proactive management strategy for the water distribution network should be implemented with the necessary cash reserves for any future setbacks.

Abstract Background Patients with a history of COVID-19 infection may suffer from different physical problems. This study aimed to investigate the effect of corrective and breathing exercises on improving respiratory function among patients with a history of COVID-19 infection. Methods In this clinical trial study, thirty elderlies with a history of COVID-19 disease were divided into two groups (mean age 63.60 ± 3.56 experimental, 59.87 ± 2.99 control groups) based on the study inclusion criteria. Exercise interventions included two sections- breathing exercises and corrective exercises in the cervical and thoracic spine. The spirometry test, craniovertebral angle, and thoracic kyphosis test were used. To evaluate differences between variables, paired-samples t-test and ANCOVA were used (p-value 0.01). The Eta-squared value of 0.51 for the Craniovertebral angle and the SPO2 indicates a large effect size. Conclusions The results showed the combination of corrective and breathing exercises could improve pulmonary function and correct cervical and thoracic posture in patients with a history of COVID-19 infection. Therefore, corrective and breathing exercises can be helpful as a complementary treatment along with pharmaceutical therapy to reduce chronic pulmonary complications in patients infected with COVID-19. Background A culture of the green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii was accidentally contaminated with three different bacteria in our laboratory facilities. This contaminated alga culture showed increased algal biohydrogen production. These three bacteria were independently isolated. Methods The chromosomic DNA of one of the isolated bacteria was extracted and sequenced using PacBio technology. Tentative genome annotation (RAST server) and phylogenetic trees analysis (TYGS server) were conducted. Diverse growth tests were assayed for the bacterium and for the alga-bacterium consortium. Results Phylogenetic analysis indicates that the bacterium is a novel member of the Stenotrophomonas genus that has been termed in this work as S. goyi sp. nov. A fully sequenced genome (4,487,389 base pairs) and its tentative annotation (4,147 genes) are provided. The genome information suggests that S. goyi sp. nov. is unable to use sulfate and nitrate as sulfur and nitrogen sources, respectively. Growth tests have confirmed the dependence on the sulfur-containing amino acids methionine and cysteine. S. goyi sp. nov. and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii can establish a mutualistic relationship when cocultured together. Conclusions S. goyi sp. nov. could be of interest for the design of biotechnological approaches based on the use of artificial microalgae-bacteria multispecies consortia that take advantage of the complementary metabolic capacities of their different microorganisms.

Technological catch-up is a very complex and time-consuming process that requires all kinds of capabilities to be acquired by the latercomer firms in order to successfully complete the various stages. This process is influenced by various factors that determine its failure or success. Considering the factors affecting the successful and unsuccessful cases in the catch-up process can gain a good insight for companies and countries that want to go through this path successfully. In this regard, in the present study, with the help of a systematic review of the literature, a framework of factors affecting the success of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and knowledge-based industries was extracted in order to make a comparative comparison with the catch-up situation in the biopharmaceutical industry in Iran. Quantitative support of foreign and domestic studies of each of the factors by Shannon entropy method is calculated and compared with each other to identify gaps in the catch-up of the Iranian biopharmaceutical industry. The obtained results show that there is a high similarity between domestic and international articles in terms of entropy in terms of institutional environment, capability building, and technological regimes. It is also necessary to improve the unfavorable position of the domestic industry in the factors of the market catch-up, organizational issues and the catch-up strategies with the help of the proposed solutions.

Rock masses naturally contain joints and fractures and the effect of these fractures needs to be carefully investigated to ensure the stability of rock structures. This is particularly the case when dynamic loading effects due to earthquakes or rock blasting are involved. In this study, Brazilian synthetic specimens, made of gypsum with initial notches, were loaded in the mode-I fracture. The specimens were 50 mm in diameter and 10 mm in thickness. The pre-existing notch length in the specimens varied from 10 to 40 mm. The nominal tensile strength of the specimens was numerically evaluated using a bonded particle model (BPM) for the synthetic rock material. The dynamic tests were performed using the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) system which was numerically simulated by the CA3 computer program. CA3 is a computer program for static and dynamic simulation of geomaterials in which a hybrid bonded particle and finite element system can be employed. The rock specimen was represented by the bonded particle model, while the incident and transmission bars in the Hopkinson Pressure Bar system were simulated by the finite element model. The bonded particle system was calibrated to ensure that the elastic properties, uniaxial compressive strength, tensile strength, and fracture toughness of the rock were replicated by the numerical model. The combined effect of loading rate and initial fracture length on the rock tensile strength was investigated. The results, as expected, suggest that the static nominal tensile strength of the specimens was reduced as the notch length increased. Under dynamic loading, the material response is more complicated; depending on the applied stress rate, the tensile strength can decrease, remain constant, or increase as the initial notch length increases. It is shown that the speed of the crack tip opening is responsible for this interesting observation of tensile strength changes under dynamic loading as the notch length varies.

Purpose: Listening to music has a great impact on people's emotions and would change brain activity. In other words, music-induced emotions are trackable in electrical brain activities. Therefore, Electroencephalography can be a suitable tool to detect these induced emotions. The present study attempted to use electroencephalography in order to recognize four types of emotions (happy, relaxing, stressful, and sad) induced in response to listening to music excerpts, using three classifiers. Methods: In this empirical study, electroencephalography signals were collected from 20 participants, as they were listening to pieces of selected music... The collected data was then pre-processed, and 28 linear and nonlinear features for recognizing the aforementioned emotions were extracted. Feature-space components were then reduced through a principal components analysis. Finally, the first ten components of feature-space were used as input for classifiers to identify the induced emotions. Results: The outputs showed that the suggested method was well capable of emotion recognition. Evaluating the music excerpts, on the self-assessment manikin scale, demonstrated that the labelling of the music tracks was accurate. The highest accuracy found among neural network, K-nearest neighbors, and support vector machine algorithms was respectively %84, %84, and %89 for happy emotions. Conclusion: Reduction of features via principal components analysis, led to an acceptable accuracy in classification. Happiness was the most recognizable emotion and the support vector machine had the highest performance among the classifiers. In the end, the outcomes of the proposed method demonstrate that this system is better than the several research in EEG-based emotion recognition.
