Abstract

Precise fabrication of organic micro/nanostructures with regular morphology has gained a considerable concern in developing high‐performance optoelectronic devices, which is still a huge challenge to realize tunable morphology without the dependence on molecule packing arrangement. Herein, a thermodynamic/kinetic controlled self‐assembly for triphenylene‐7,7,8,8‐tetracyanoquinodimethane (TP‐TCNQ) cocrystal, with well‐defined microwires and microplates based on the same crystal structure, is proposed. With the low solution concentration of C = 5 mm, the comparable growth rates along [011] driven by π–π interaction and along [100] driven by charge‐transfer (CT) interaction facilitate the formation of thermodynamically favored shape of microplates. In contrast, the prominent CT interaction along [100] leads to the construction of microwires at kinetic state under high‐concentration solution of C = 10 mm. Furthermore, the prepared TP‐TCNQ microwires and microplates demonstrate isotropic photonic transmissions with the low optical loss coefficient of 0.033 and 0.042 dB µm−1, respectively. 21. Effects of the Preserved Peel on the Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Ardisia violacea.

Abstract

In order to understand the effect of exocarp removal on the seed germination and seedling growth of Ardisia violacea which was a rare and endangered plant, two treatments, peeled and unpeeled, were set up with four replicates to study the seed germination and growth traits of Ardisia violacea. The results showed that the emergence time of the unpeeled seeds of Ardisia violacea was delayed by 19 days, which was significantly later than that of the peeled seeds (P<0. 05) ; The seed emergence rate was 70. 3% - 75. 6 %, and there was no significant difference between the unpeeled and peeled seeds (P> 0. 05) ; The growth of Ardisia violacea seedlings showed an "S-shaped" curve of "slow-fast-slow". By the end of the growth, the plant height, ground diameter, leaf length and leaf width were respectively in the range of 5. 32 to 5. 34 cm, 0. 12 to 0. 13 cm, 4. 40 to 4. 96 cm, 2. 08 to 2. 12 cm, and the number of leaves ranged from 13. 4 to 14. 8, so there was no significant difference between the unpeeled and peeled treatments (P>-0. 05). In conclusion, the existence of pericarp had no significant effect on the germination and seedling growth of Ardisia violacea, and the seedlings could be directly sown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials with an aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) mechanism have great potential for use in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). In this study, the luminescent mechanism of a novel efficient aggregation‐induced, nondoped, delayed fluorescence emitter 2‐(10H‐phenoxazin‐10‐yl)‐10‐phenyl‐10H‐phenothiazine‐5,5‐dioxide (PXZ2PTO) is theoretically studied based on first‐principles calculations. The polarizable continuum model and quantum mechanics and molecular mechanics method are used to simulate the surrounding environments for molecules in the toluene solution and the solid phase, respectively. Our results show that PXZ2PTO exhibits the superior AIE property. The nonradiative decay rate in the solid phase is two orders of magnitude lower than that in toluene, caused by the suppressed geometry changes during excitations and decay channels. Meanwhile, studies of intermolecular interactions using the dimer model indicate that PXZ2PTO possesses a special highly stereoscopic structure in the solid phase, and the electron acceptor group is almost perpendicular to the electron donor group, inducing a strong steric hindrance effect between adjacent molecules and leading to enhanced intramolecular interaction. Furthermore, the excited‐state dynamics studies show that the intersystem and reverse intersystem crossing rates of PXZ2PTO are comparable to the radiative decay rate, which indicates that PXZ2PTO is an excellent potential TADF emitter with full exciton usage. Our theoretical research gives a reasonable explanation of the experimental results and provides valuable information for designing highly efficient AIE‐TADF emitters in practical OLEDs. Abstract

The constant evolution of pathogens poses a threat to wheat resistance against diseases, endangering food security. Developing resistant wheat varieties is the most practical approach to circumventing this problem. As a close relative of wheat, Aegilops geniculata, particularly accession SY159 has evolved numerous beneficial traits that could be applied to improve wheat. In this study, we established the karyotype of SY159 by fluorescence in situhybridization (FISH) using oligonucleotide probes Oligo-pTa535 and Oligo-pSc119.2 and a complete set of wheat-Ae. geniculataaccession TA2899 addition lines as a reference. Using specific-locus amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq) technology, 400 specific markers were established for detecting the SY159 chromosomes with efficiencies reaching 81.5%. The SY159-specific markers were used for classification of different homologous groups of SY159 against wheat-Ae. geniculataaddition lines. We used these specific markers on the 7Mgchromosome after classification, and we successfully confirmed their suitability for studying different chromosomes of SY159. This study provides a foundation for accelerating the application of SY159 for genetic breeding programs designed to improve wheat.

Abstract

A series of supramolecular assemblies of types [Ag8(L)4](PF6)8 and [Ag4(L)2](PF6)4, obtained from the tetraphenylethylene (TPE) bridged tetrakis(1,2,4‐triazolium) salts H4‐L(PF6)4 and AgI ions, is described. The assembly type obtained dependends on the N‐wingtip substituents of H4‐L(PF6)4. Changes in the lengths of the N4‐wingtip substituents enables controlled formation of assemblies with either [Ag4(L)2](PF6)4 or [Ag8(L)4](PF6)8 stoichiometry. The molecular structures of selected [Ag8(L)4](PF6)8 and [Ag4(L)2](PF6)4 assemblies were determined by X‐ray diffraction analyses. While H4‐L(PF6)4 does not exhibit fluorescence in solution, their tetra‐NHC (NHC=N‐heterocyclic carbene) assemblies do upon NHC–metal coordination. Upon irradiation, all assemblies undergo a light‐induced, supramolecule‐to‐supramolecule structural transformation by an oxidative photocyclization involving phenyl groups of the TPE core, resulting in a significant change of the luminescence properties. Abstract

Bulk nanocrystalline Al was fabricated by mechanically milling at cryogenic temperature (cryomilling) and then by hot pressing in vacuum. By using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the microstructure evolution of the material during cryomilling and consolidation was investigated. With increasing the milling time, the grain size decreased sharply and reduced to 42 nm when cryomilled for 12 h. The grains had grown up, and the columnar grain was formed under the hot pressing and extrusion compared with the cryomilled powders. The grain size of as-extruded specimen was approximately 300–500 nm. The reason of high thermal stability of this bulk was attributed primarily to the Zener pinning from the grain boundary of the AlN arising from cryomilling and the solute drag of the impurity. Tensile tests show that the strength of nanocrystalline Al is enhanced with decreasing grain size. The ultimate tensile strength and tensile elongation were 173 MPa and 17.5%, respectively. It appears that the measured high strength in the cryomilled Al is related to a grain-size effect, dispersion strengthening, and dislocation strengthening.

•Carbapenem-resistant hypermucoviscous Klebsiella pneumoniae(CR-HMKP) ST11 producing KPC-2 carbapenemase were identified.•Carbapenem-susceptible hypermucoviscous K. pneumoniae(CS-HMKP) were more susceptible to antimicrobials than CR-HMKP.•K1 and K2 were the main capsular serotypes of these HMKP strains.•Capsular serotype K57 was first reported for CR-HMKP strains of ST11.•Patients with CR-HMKP had higher mortality rates than those with CS-HMKP.
