14. Experimental Investigation of DBD Parameters and Ru/γ-Al2O3 Catalyst on Plasma-Assisted Ammonia Synthesis

Abstract

Under the normal temperature and pressure conditions, ammonia (NH3) synthesis experiments were conducted by the self-developed dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma device. The effects of typical processes and discharge parameters, including the total flow rate of reaction gas, volume ratio of reaction gas, discharge power, discharge frequency, plasma volume on NH3 synthesis rate, and yield, were studied and analyzed. In addition, the effect of Ru/ $\gamma $ -Al2O3 catalysts was investigated on nonthermal plasma-assisted ammonia synthesis. The results show that the NH3 synthesis rate and yield are relatively high when the total flow rate of reaction gas is about $120\,\,\text {mL}\cdot \text {min}^{-1}$ and the volume ratio of N2 and H2 is 1:2. With the discharge power of 33.6 W and a plasma volume of 18.37 mL, the system exhibits uniform and stable discharge, resulting in an energy yield of approximately $190\,\,\text {mg}\cdot \text {kW}^{-1}\cdot \text {h}^{-1}$ . By adjusting the discharge frequency to 8.2 kHz, which is in resonance with the experimental system, the NH3 synthesis rate reaches its maximum. The use of 2%Ru/ $\gamma $ -Al2O3 as a catalyst resulted in the highest NH3 synthesis rate of $34.3\,\,\mu \text {mol}\cdot \text {min}^{-1}$ , which is 3.5 times higher than that obtained without a catalyst.

In the article "Modulating the Electrolyte Microenvironment in Electrical Double Layer for Boosting Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia," Xin‐Yao Yu and co‐workers propose a new method to improve the performance of the electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NO3RR) by manipulating alkali metal cations in the electrolyte. The presence of K+ ions facilitates the movement of protons across the electric double layer, leading to the promotion of the conversion of NO3− to NO2− and enhancing the overall kinetics of NO3RR. Abstract

The damage efficiency analysis of image terminal guided rocket to solid targets is an important basis for the demonstration and use of this kind of rocket. The fort target was selected as the research object, and according to its structural characteristics, material performance, rocket warhead power and penetration effect at different impact points, a area calculation model of vulnerable zone of the target was established. Based on the firing theory, a damage efficiency model based on the area of vulnerable zone was established. The results of the example show that the method is simple and practical, and the damage efficiency of the image terminal guided rocket is greatly improved compared with that of the normal guided rocket.

Abstract

There are many obvious advantages of the multiple-mode seeker in rocket projectile. Based on the analysis of the working process of multi-mode seeker, several target detection methods were designed, taking into account both the applicability and the execution efficiency of the seeker. The target identification strategy with multi-template concurrent match and the target tracking strategy with adaptive template update were proposed. It is believed that the terminal guidance strategy of multi-mode seeker can meet the requirements of rapid and reliable target identification and track.

To determine an efficient sterilization mechanism, Bacillus subtilis spore samples were exposed to an atmospheric plasma jet. By using argon/oxygen mixture gas, the decimal reduction value was reduced from 60 s (using argon gas) to 10 s. More dramatically, after 5 min treatment, the colony-forming unit (CFU) was reduced by six orders. To understand the underlying mechanism of the efficient sterilization by plasma, the contributions from heat, UV radiation, charged particles, ozone, and reactive oxygen radicals were distinguished in this work, showing that charged particles and ozone were the main killing factors.
