Abstract

This article provides new records to Acratossaura mentalis of two new localities from the state of Sergipe,northeast Brazil. These records extend the geographical distribution of specie for municipalities from Poço Redondo andItabaiana. Possibly, these points are the first records of A. mentalis for the state of Sergipe.

Abstract

The genus Physalaemus is distributed from north to south in South America, east at Andes. Physalaemus cicada,belongs to the Physalaemus cuvieri group, is widely distributed and is usually found in the Caatinga calling in lentic and/ortemporary water bodies. Herein, we present the first records of Physalaemus cicada for the state of Sergipe, correspondingto two localities (Serra da Guia and Monumento Natural Grota do Angico) in the municipality of Poço Redondo.

3. Correlated fluctuations in spin orbit torque coupled perpendicular nanomagnets

Abstract

Low-barrier nanomagnets have attracted a great deal of research interest for their use as sources of high-quality true random number generation. More recently, low-barrier nanomagnets with tunable output have been shown to be a natural hardware platform for unconventional computing paradigms such as probabilistic spin logic. Efficient generation and tunability of high-quality random bits is critical for these novel applications. However, current spintronic random number generators are based on superparamagnetic tunnel junctions with tunability obtained through spin transfer torque, which unavoidably leads to challenges in designing concatenated networks using these two terminal devices. The more recent development of utilizing spin orbit torque (SOT) allows for a three-terminal device design, but can only tune in-plane magnetization freely, which is not very energy efficient due to the needs of overcoming a large demagnetization field. In this work, we experimentally demonstrate a stochastic device with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy that is completely tunable by SOT without the aid of any external magnetic field. Our measurements lead us to hypothesize that a tilted anisotropy might be responsible for the observed tunability. We carry out stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert simulations to confirm our experimental observation. Finally, we build an electrically coupled network of two such stochastic nanomagnet-based devices and demonstrate that finite correlation or anticorrelation can be established between their output fluctuations by a weak interconnection, despite having a large difference in their natural fluctuation timescale. Simulations based on a dynamical model for autonomous circuits composed of low-barrier nanomagnets show close agreement with the experimental results.

Abstract

The successful operation of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the excellent performance of the ATLAS, CMS, LHCb and ALICE detectors in Run-1 and Run-2 with $pp$ collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV as well as the giant leap in precision calculations and modeling of fundamental interactions at hadron colliders have allowed an extraordinary breadth of physics studies including precision measurements of a variety physics processes. The LHC results have so far confirmed the validity of the Standard Model of particle physics up to unprecedented energy scales and with great precision in the sectors of strong and electroweak interactions as well as flavour physics, for instance in top quark physics. The upgrade of the LHC to a High Luminosity phase (HL-LHC) at 14 TeV center-of-mass energy with 3 ab$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity will probe the Standard Model with even greater precision and will extend the sensitivity to possible anomalies in the Standard Model, thanks to a ten-fold larger data set, upgraded detectors and expected improvements in the theoretical understanding. This document summarises the physics reach of the HL-LHC in the realm of strong and electroweak interactions and top quark physics, and provides a glimpse of the potential of a possible further upgrade of the LHC to a 27 TeV $pp$ collider, the High-Energy LHC (HE-LHC), assumed to accumulate an integrated luminosity of 15 ab$^{-1}$., Comment: Report from Working Group 1 on the Physics of the HL-LHC, and Perspectives at the HE-LHC

Abstract

In this article we present a concrete design for a probabilistic (p-) computer based on a network of p-bits, robust classical entities fluctuating between -1 and +1, with probabilities that are controlled through an input constructed from the outputs of other p-bits. The architecture of this probabilistic computer is similar to a stochastic neural network with the p-bit playing the role of a binary stochastic neuron, but with one key difference: there is no sequencer used to enforce an ordering of p-bit updates, as is typically required. Instead, we explore sequencerless designs where all p-bits are allowed to flip autonomously and demonstrate that such designs can allow ultrafast operation unconstrained by available clock speeds without compromising the solution's fidelity. Based on experimental results from a hardware benchmark of the autonomous design and benchmarked device models, we project that a nanomagnetic implementation can scale to achieve petaflips per second with millions of neurons. A key contribution of this article is the focus on a hardware metric - flips per second - as a problem and substrate-independent figure-of-merit for an emerging class of hardware annealers known as Ising Machines. Much like the shrinking feature sizes of transistors that have continually driven Moore's Law, we believe that flips per second can be continually improved in later technology generations of a wide class of probabilistic, domain specific hardware.

Abstract

Recent studies have shown that people who are immunocompromised may inadvertently play a role in spurring the mutations of the virus that create new variants. This is because some immunocompromised individuals remain at risk of getting COVID-19 despite vaccination, experience more severe disease, are susceptible to being chronically infected and remain contagious for longer if they become infected and considering that immunocompromised individuals represent approximately 2% of the overall population, this aspect should be carefully considered. So far, some autoimmune rheumatic disease (ARD) patients with COVID-19 have been treated with antiviral therapies or anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody products. However, there is no homogeneous approach to these treatment strategies. This issue was addressed within the European Reference Network (ERN) on Rare and Complex Connective Tissue and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ReCONNET) in a discussion among experts and patient's representatives in the context of the rare and complex connective tissue diseases (rCTDs) covered by the Network. ERN ReCONNET is one of the 24 ERNs launched by the European Commission in 2017 with the aim of tackling low prevalence and rare diseases that require highly specialised treatment and promoting concentration of knowledge and resources through virtual networks involving healthcare providers (HCPs) across the European Union (EU). Considering the urgent need to provide guidance not only to the rCTDs community, but also to the whole ARDs community, a multidisciplinary Task Force, including expert clinicians and European Patient Advocacy Group (ePAG) Advocates, was created in the framework of ERN ReCONNET with the aim of developing overarching principles (OP) and points-to-consider (PtC) on a homogenous approach to treat immunocompromised patients with ARDs (with a particular focus on CTDs) affected by COVID-19 using antiviral therapies and anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody products. Abstract

A statistical model of resistor network is proposed to describe a polymer structure and to simulate the real and imaginary components of its ac resistivity. It takes into account the polydispersiveness of the material as well as intrachain and interchain charge transport processes. By the application of a transfer matrix technique, it reproduces ac resistivity measurements carried out with polyaniline films in different doping degrees and at different temperatures. Abstract

Schistosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease caused by parasitic worms of several species of the genus Schistosoma. Transmission occurs by parasitic larvae that stay in freshwater snails of the genus Biomphalaria. Thus, the search for new products that are biodegradable has increased the interest in products of plant origin. The aim of this article is to review the isolated substances from natural products that showed molluscicidal activity against the species Biomphalaria glabrata in order to reevaluate the most promising prototypes and update the progress of research to obtain a new molluscicide. We perform searches using scientific databases, such as Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Google schoolar, PUBMED, Web of Science and Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS). From 2000 to 2022, using the keywords “isolated substances”, “molluscicidal activity” and “Biomphalaria glabrata”. In the present study, it was possible to observe 19 promising molluscicidal molecules with a lethal concentration below 20 µg/mL. Of these promising isolates, only 5 isolates had the CL90 calculated and within the value recommended by WHO: Benzoic acid, 2',4',6'-Trihydroxydihydrochalcone, Divaricatic acid, Piplartine and 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (Lapachol). We conclude that beyond a few results in the area, the researches don’t follow the methodological pattern (exposure time and measure units, toxicity test), in this way, as they don’t follow a pattern on the result’s exposure (LC), not following, in sum, the recommended by WHO. Resumo A esquistossomose é uma doença tropical negligenciada causada por vermes parasitas de várias espécies do gênero Schistosoma. A transmissão ocorre por larvas parasitas que ficam em caramujos de água doce do gênero Biomphalaria. Assim, a busca por novos produtos biodegradáveis tem aumentado o interesse por produtos de origem vegetal. O objetivo deste artigo é revisar as substâncias isoladas de produtos naturais que apresentaram atividade moluscicida contra a espécie Biomphalaria glabrata a fim de reavaliar os protótipos mais promissores e atualizar o progresso das pesquisas para a obtenção de um novo moluscicida. Realizamos buscas em bases de dados científicas, como Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Google acadêmico, PUBMED, Web of Science e Literatura Latina-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da saúde (LILACS). De 2000 a 2022, utilizando as palavras-chave “substâncias isoladas”, “atividade moluscicida” e “Biomphalaria glabrata”. No presente estudo, foi possível observar 19 moléculas moluscicidas promissoras com concentração letal abaixo de 20 µg/mL. Destes isolados promissores, apenas 5 isolados tiveram o CL90 calculado e dentro do valor recomendado pela OMS: ácido benzóico, 2',4',6'-triidroxidihidrocalcona, ácido divaricático, piplartina e 2-hidroxi-1,4-naftoquinona (Lapachol). Concluímos que além de poucos resultados na área, as pesquisas não seguem o padrão metodológico (tempo de exposição e unidades de medida, teste de toxicidade), assim como não seguem um padrão na exposição do resultado (CL), não seguindo, em suma, o recomendado pela OMS.

Abstract

Recent studies have shown that people who are immunocompromised may inadvertently play a role in spurring the mutations of the virus that create new variants. This is because some immunocompromised individuals remain at risk of getting COVID-19 despite vaccination, experience more severe disease, are susceptible to being chronically infected and remain contagious for longer if they become infected and considering that immunocompromised individuals represent approximately 2% of the overall population, this aspect should be carefully considered. So far, some autoimmune rheumatic disease (ARD) patients with COVID-19 have been treated with antiviral therapies or anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody products. However, there is no homogeneous approach to these treatment strategies. This issue was addressed within the European Reference Network (ERN) on Rare and Complex Connective Tissue and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ReCONNET) in a discussion among experts and patient's representatives in the context of the rare and complex connective tissue diseases (rCTDs) covered by the Network. ERN ReCONNET is one of the 24 ERNs launched by the European Commission in 2017 with the aim of tackling low prevalence and rare diseases that require highly specialised treatment and promoting concentration of knowledge and resources through virtual networks involving healthcare providers (HCPs) across the European Union (EU). Considering the urgent need to provide guidance not only to the rCTDs community, but also to the whole ARDs community, a multidisciplinary Task Force, including expert clinicians and European Patient Advocacy Group (ePAG) Advocates, was created in the framework of ERN ReCONNET with the aim of developing overarching principles (OP) and points-to-consider (PtC) on a homogenous approach to treat immunocompromised patients with ARDs (with a particular focus on CTDs) affected by COVID-19 using antiviral therapies and anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody products. Abstract

Background: Despite the recent advances in the field of autoinflammatory diseases, most patients with recurrent fever episodes do not have any defined diagnosis. The present study aims at describing a cohort of patients suffering from apparently unexplained recurrent fever, in whom non-radiographic axial spondylarthritis (SpA) represented the unique diagnosis identified after a complete clinical and radiologic assessment. Materials and methods: Patients' data were obtained from the international registry on Undifferentiated Systemic AutoInflammatory Diseases (USAIDs) developed by the AutoInflammatory Disease Alliance (AIDA) network. Results: A total of 54 patients with recurrent fever episodes were also affected by non-radiographic axial SpA according to the international classification criteria. SpA was diagnosed after the start of fever episodes in all cases; the mean age at the diagnosis of axial SpA was 39.9 ± 14.8 years with a diagnostic delay of 9.3 years. The highest body temperature reached during flares was 42°C, with a mean temperature of 38.8 ± 1.1°C. The most frequent manifestations associated to fever were: arthralgia in 33 (61.1%) cases, myalgia in 24 (44.4%) cases, arthritis in 22 (40.7%) cases, headache in 15 (27.8%) cases, diarrhea in 14 (25.9%) cases, abdominal pain in 13 (24.1%) cases, and skin rash in 12 (22.1%) cases. Twenty-four (44.4%) patients have taken daily or on-demand non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and 31 (57.4%) patients have been treated with daily or on demand oral glucocorticoids. Colchicine was used in 28 (51.8%) patients, while other conventional disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (cDMARDs) were employed in 28 (51.8%) patients. Forty (74.1%) patients underwent anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) agents and 11 (20.4%) were treated with interleukin (IL)-1 inhibitors. Abstract

This chapter provides a critical perspective on the use of social media platforms as crucial epistemic resources for field researchers in criminology. Ethnographers have often been sceptical about their immersion in online settings because of the restraints in engaging experientially and emotionally with research subjects. Virtual ethnography is underestimated as a method of engagement to achieve the immediacy of crime. The chapter aims to debunk this misconception by highlighting my experiences with virtual ethnography on Instagram researching the meanings of crime within a deviant youth subculture in Italy, known as Italian trap culture. Readers are led on a journey towards a criminological verstehen through my experiential and emotional online immersion in the lived reality of deviance and crime. This journey includes also new epistemological frameworks on how to practically access and engage with online users, such as Instagram suggested friends to algorithmically sample participants. By virtually interacting with deviant, criminal and vulnerable participants on social media, field researchers are subjected to ethical reflections different from those that traditionally guide physical ethnographies in criminology. This contributes to considerations on new types of personal and professional risks, besides exciting and pleasurable experiences, underlying the deep involvement in crime situations on social media.

Abstract

Recent studies have shown that people who are immunocompromised may inadvertently play a role in spurring the mutations of the virus that create new variants. This is because some immunocompromised individuals remain at risk of getting COVID-19 despite vaccination, experience more severe disease, are susceptible to being chronically infected and remain contagious for longer if they become infected and considering that immunocompromised individuals represent approximately 2% of the overall population, this aspect should be carefully considered. So far, some autoimmune rheumatic disease (ARD) patients with COVID-19 have been treated with antiviral therapies or anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody products. However, there is no homogeneous approach to these treatment strategies. This issue was addressed within the European Reference Network (ERN) on Rare and Complex Connective Tissue and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ReCONNET) in a discussion among experts and patient’s representatives in the context of the rare and complex connective tissue diseases (rCTDs) covered by the Network. ERN ReCONNET is one of the 24 ERNs launched by the European Commission in 2017 with the aim of tackling low prevalence and rare diseases that require highly specialised treatment and promoting concentration of knowledge and resources through virtual networks involving healthcare providers (HCPs) across the European Union (EU). Considering the urgent need to provide guidance not only to the rCTDs community, but also to the whole ARDs community, a multidisciplinary Task Force, including expert clinicians and European Patient Advocacy Group (ePAG) Advocates, was created in the framework of ERN ReCONNET with the aim of developing overarching principles (OP) and points-to-consider (PtC) on a homogenous approach to treat immunocompromised patients with ARDs (with a particular focus on CTDs) affected by COVID-19 using antiviral therapies and anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody products. Although in the last decades new treatment options have led to a better management of this disease, there are still significant unmet therapeutic needs. Dual inhibitor antibodies target two different cytokines simultaneously, potentially offering a better disease control. In psoriatic arthritis, there is evidence for a pathogenic role not only of IL-17A but also the structurally homologous IL-17F. It is postulated that differential expression of both in several targets of PsA could account for disparities in clinical response to IL-17A inhibition alone (such as with secukinumab or ixekizumab). Here we review the evidence so far for the use in psoriatic arthritis of bimekizumab, the first humanized monoclonal IgG1 antibody that selectively neutralizes both IL-17A and IL-17F. A Phase 2b trial reports better outcomes over both placebo and IL-17A inhibition alone. Very recently encouraging results from open-label extensions with regards to both safety and maintenance of response were presented. 50. VERSÕES DO BARROCO: MODERNO E PÓS-MODERNO

Abstract

Nowadays, in variou cultural areas, we can observe a vivid interest for the Baroque. In the 20th century, indeed, different national traditions have reevaluated the place of the Baroque in their cultural history. The author of this essay claims that we do not have to deal with a return to the baroque in historical terms, and even less with a nostalgic attitude towards the Baroque, but with a return of the Baroque in a specific historical context. This return,in fact, is part of a crisis of modernity. More precisely, a double hypothesis will be developed: the contemporary return of the Baroque is at the same time a reactivation of the melancholy side of modernity and a dismissal of the utopian side of modernity., On observe aujourd’hui un intérêt accru, et même généralisé pour le Baroque. En fait, au XX e siècle, plusieurs traditions nationales ont réévalué la place du Baroque dans leur histoire culturelie. On soutiendra ici qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un retour historique, voire nostalgique au Baroque, mais d'un retour du Baroque dans un contexte historique particulier. Ce retour s'inscrit en fait dans le contexte d'une crise de la modemité. Plus exactement, on propose ici l'hypothòse qu'il s'agit à la fois d'une reprise de la mélancolie modeme et d'un congédiement de l'utopie moderne., Observa-se hoje um interesse acirrado ou mesmo generalizado pelo Barroco. De fato, no século XX, muitas tradições nacionais reavaliaram o lugar do Barroco em sua história cultural.Este artigo sustenta que não se trata de um retomo histórico, ou até mesmo nostálgico ao Barroco, porém o retomo do Barroco em um contexto histórico particular. Este retomo inscreve-se no contexto de uma crise da modernidade. Mais precisamente, propõe-se aqui a hipótese que se trata ao mesmo tempo de uma retomada da melancolia modema e da despedida da utopia modema.
