Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) and vascular parkinsonism (VP) share multiple features together. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the differences between VP and PD. Materials and Methods: A total of 27 patients with VP and 48 PD patients were matched regarding age, sex, and educational level. All patients were assessed using MDS-UPDRS score and MRI brain. Results: VP showed significantly shorter disease duration, less tremor dominant subtype, more PIGD subtype. Meanwhile Patients with VP showed no significant difference regarding motor part of MDS UPDRS off score from PD patients . MRI brain showed that VP group has significantly higher Fazekas scale compared to PD group. Conclusion: VP is presented by postural instability and gait dysfunction, less tremor, and associated with more severe white matter ischemic changes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) causes great disability at increasing age such as cognitive impairment, gait and sphincteric problems affecting a person's quality of life. That is why it's important to detect and manage early. The aim of this study is to investigate certain micro-RNA in Egyptian patients with CSVD. Methods: Thirty patients with CSVD were compared to thirty controls undergoing assessment for cognitive, gait and sphincteric control together with MRI brain and blood sampling for miRNA (miR-409-3p, miR-502-3p, miR-486-5p and miR-451a). Results: No difference regarding age, gender or risk factors, yet MiRNA-451a was up-regulated in cases with a median fold change of 3.4 in comparison to healthy controls. Professor Hany M. Aref, MD, Ph.D., was a highly respected neurologist and leader in the field of stroke care in Egypt. He held numerous prestigious positions and was known for his dedication to improving stroke services and patient care. Prof. Aref's passion for his work was fueled by personal experience, as his mother had suffered a stroke when treatment options were limited in Egypt. He played a pivotal role in advocating for the implementation of advanced stroke treatments and establishing stroke units across the country. Tragically, Prof. Aref passed away before he could see the completion of his dream project, a state-of-the-art stroke unit at ASU Hospital. Background: The burden of cervical radicular pain on patients and systems of health in different countries is an important medical issue that needs more significant medical researches to find a new solutions, treatment and limited interventional methods to improve patient's quality of life, prevent complications and decrease the cost on health systems. Objective: To compare the effectiveness of cervical injection guided by either ultrasonography or fluoroscopy. Patients and Methods: Sixty patients with lower cervical radiculopathy resistant to medical treatment were included in this study. Randomly, patients received cervical block ultrasonography guided or Fluoroscopic guided. Patients were followed up at 14 days and 90 days by Brief Pain Inventory Scale. Results: In our study both groups showed significant decline in pain Inventory scale from baseline till 90 days after injection. Conclusion: Both ways of injection guided by either ultrasonography or fluoroscopy showed the same effectiveness in relief of pain in lower cervical radiculopathy at 14 days and 90 days. Background: Acne vulgaris (AV) is an inflammatory skin disorder that may be associated with metabolic disorders. The relation between lipid profile in acne is not widely investigated. Chitinase‐3‐like protein 1 (YKL‐40) has been found to be implicated in different inflammatory conditions. Aims: We aimed at investigating the role YKL‐40 in acne pathogenesis and associated dyslipidemia in acne patients. Patients/Methods: This study included 50 acne vulgaris patients and 30 matched control subjects. Serum YKL‐40 in addition to lipid profile were assessed in all studied subjects. Results: Serum YKL‐40 level was significantly elevated in acne patients than healthy controls (P <.001). We also found a significant positive correlations between serum YKL‐40, serum TGs, TC, and LDL‐C (P value:.022,.001,.017 respectively) while, a significant negative correlation between serum YKL‐40 and HDL‐c (P value:.036) was detected. Conclusion: Our study results suggest that YKL‐40 might have a role in AV pathogenesis. In addition, it could provide a new potential link between inflammation and dyslipidemia observed in acne patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
