Abstract Glyphosate (GLY) is a widely used herbicide with an important role in agriculture. It effectively controls weeds, enhancing agricultural yield and product quality. However, its use raises significant concerns such as potential risks to non-target ecosystems and human health. In response to these concerns, we develop an electrochemical sensor with a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) and gold nanoparticles for GLY detection. The sensor includes a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) functionalized with gold nanoparticles and a self-assembled polyvinyl carboxylic acid chloride (PVC-COOH) layer. GLY compounds interact with carboxylic groups and are encapsulated by a polymer of methacrylic acid (MAA) cross-linked with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA). Electrochemical performance was assessed using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Morphological characterization was performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The sensor exhibits impressive selectivity, detecting GLY within a range of 273–1200 pg/mL with minimal interference from other pesticides. It boasts a low detection limit of 0.8 pg/mL (signal-to-noise ratio S/N = 3) by DPV and 0.001 pg/mL by EIS. The sensor’s versatility extends to various sample types, including surface water, agricultural wastewater, soil, and cucumber, demonstrating high recovery rates (> 96.05%) and low relative standard deviation (RSD) (

Green energy systems must be able to provide a significant proportion of the energy needed to meet the ever-increasing demand for energy. Fuel cells are a promising solution to bridge the gap in the green energy transition. This study aims to enhance the energy efficiency of fuel cells by utilizing 2D supported nanocatalysts in the anode compartment. Borophene was synthesized using the liquid phase exfoliation method to be used as a support structure due to its superior properties. To use borophene as a supporting material in methanol fuel cells, a borophene-palladium hybrid structure (Pd@Borophene) was prepared using the chemical reduction method. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed that the obtained particle had a partially formed layered structure. The electrocatalytic activity of the Pd@Borophene was investigated through anodic reactions in Direct Methanol Alcohol Fuel Cells (DMFC). Electrochemical analyses were conducted to compare the effect of borophene on Pd and Pd@borophene nanocatalysts on the anodic reaction. The anodic peak current value of methanol oxidation for Pd@borophene was found to be 24.3 mA/cm2, which is approximately four times higher than that of unsupported Pd nanoparticles. Additionally, the ratio of forward current (If) to reverse current (Ib), which serves as an indicator of catalyst poisoning, was determined to be 2.27. This study contributes significant findings to the literature by demonstrating that borophene, an advanced 2D material, can be synthesized using a low-cost liquid phase exfoliation method and can be utilized in fuel cell applications for energy generation.

Background T‐wave peak to T‐wave end interval (Tp‐e) correlates with dispersion of ventricular repolarization. The purpose of this study was to assess the ability of Tp‐e to predict appropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shocks and all‐cause mortality in patients who underwent ICD implantation for primary prophylaxis. Methods Two hundred twenty‐eight patients with left ventricular ejection fraction ≤35% and an ICD implanted were followed‐up prospectively. Patients divided into two subgroups according to presence of appropriate ICD shocks (Group 1: 112 patients with ICD shocks, Group 2: 116 patients without shocks). End points were appropriate ICD therapy due to ventricular tachycardia (VT)/ventricular fibrillation (VF), death, and a combined end point of VT/VF or death. Results During a mean follow‐up of 22.3 ± 7.7 months, appropriate ICD shocks were observed in 112 of 228 patients (49.1%). The mean duration of the Tp‐e Group 1 was significantly longer than Group 2 (115.3 ± 22.2 vs 104.7 ± 20.2 ms, P < 0.001). Ischemic etiology and Tp‐e duration were found to be independent predictors of ICD therapy. When the patients were divided into two groups based on Tp‐e interval, there was no significant difference regarding the mortality between groups (21.2% vs 21.8%, P: 0.186). However, appropriate ICD shocks due to VT/VF (37.5% vs 58.8%, P < 0.001) and combined end point (39.4% vs 64.5%, P: 0.002) were significantly higher in patients with longer Tp‐e group. Conclusions Tp‐e interval independently predicts appropriate ICD shocks in patients with systolic dysfunction and ICDs implanted for primary prevention.

In this study, a new composite film consisting of polyethylene (PE)/oxide minerals (bentonite, silica, and diatomite) was successfully synthesized. Polymer modification was carried out by melting method. Coating of oxide minerals with PE has shown important results for size control, stabilization and increasing strength. Benzoyl chloride was used as a modifying material in the mechanism. According to the mechanism, it increases the interactions between the mineral and polyethylene through adsorption of the polymer backbone by ion pairing. The resulting composite materials were characterized using advanced analytical techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR), Derivative thermogravimetry (DTG) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The morphological structures of the composites were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM and FTIR analyses showed that bentonite, silica, and diatomite were modified with PE using an extruder device. At the same time, mechanical test results showed that the tensile strength of films containing 5% oxide mineral is higher than that of pure polyethylene film. In addition, the homogeneous appearance of the surfaces of the films has changed from porous to brittle appearance with the increase in the oxide mineral ratio in composite films. It was found that with the increase in the percentage of minerals in composite films using modified oxide minerals, porous and brittle structures do not form much on the film surfaces, and the interaction of the mineral with the polymer matrix increases. The study had important results in terms of emphasizing the cost-effectiveness of the modification of different minerals with PE, the suitability of production by smelting method and the improvement of mechanical properties. In addition, it is important to obtain different composite derivatives for use in the industrial field.

In this study, we fabricated polypropylene/silica (PP/S) and polypropylene/modified silica (PP/MS) composite films using the extrusion technique, and characterized, and investigated their thermomechanical behaviors. The characterization of the neat materials and prepared composites was successfully conducted using some advanced spectroscopic techniques. The thermal stability and thermomechanical behaviors of the composites were investigated through thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The tensile tests revealed that the PP/MS composites exhibited the highest strength values, reaching 22.23 MPa with 1.0 % MS. Higher tensile strength was obtained with PP/MS composites compared to PP/S composites, proving the clear effect of the hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTAB) binder in the composition of the composites. The highest strength values obtained with the PP/S composites were 20.10 MPa at a ratio of 2.5 %.

In recent years, studies on dye removal and hydrogen energy have gained momentum. However, these studies are still not in the desired position. Existing biological and physical methods for dye removal are quite inadequate. In hydrogen production, the efficiency is very low when a catalyst is not used. It is important to obtain inexpensive catalysts for both purposes. For this purpose, Cobalt doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles (Co-doped ZnO NPs) were synthesized using a one-pot flash combustion approach. The photocatalytic activity and hydrolysis process of the produced catalyst on NaBH4 were evaluated. The photocatalytic activity of Co-doped ZnO NPs was investigated for decolorization against certain dyes under sunlight irradiation. Co-doped ZnO NPs were analyzed for hydrogen production from NaBH4 hydrolysis. It has been determined that the nanomaterial has a superior catalytic activity with Turnover frequency (TOF) of 1682.3 min−1, 32.45 kJ/mol enthalpy (∆E),-158.4 J/mol.K entropy (∆S), and 34.94 kJ/mol activation energy (EA) obtained as a result of the hydrolysis reaction of Co-doped ZnO NPs. Their reusability was found to be 72.5% at the 4th cycle. The photocatalytic activity of the Co-doped ZnO NPs was found 81.22% (120 min) and 86.98% (90 min) against RhB and MB dyes, respectively. According to the results obtained, it has been seen that Co-doped ZnO NPs are reusable catalysts with high catalytic activity for hydrogen production as a clean energy source. At the same time, it was emphasized that a photocatalyst with high catalytic activity was obtained for wastewater treatment.

In this study, biogenic platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) were obtained using the green synthesis method. The obtained Pt NPs were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and the plant extract was characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). With this characterized Pt NPs, cytotoxicity tests on MIAPaCa 2, Hela, HEK 293, Thle 2 cell lines and antibacterial activities on S. Aureus, S. Mutans, E. Coli, E. Faecalis bacterial cell lines were investigated. As a result, it was observed that biogenic Pt NPs showed a cytotoxic effect on cell lines and an antibacterial effect against a series of bacteria. At the same time, in order to show the usability of Pt NPs synthesized by the green synthesis in different areas, studies for alternative clean energy production were also carried out, and in the methanol oxidation reaction study, 5.42 mA.cm−2 anodic peak current was obtained at 0.6 V potential. This showed that nanoparticles obtained by the green synthesis method can be used in alcohol oxidation studies for alternative clean energy generation.

In this study, palladium-zinc oxide nanoparticles (Pd@ZnO NPs) from biomass were synthesized by the biogenic method. The synthesized Pd@ZnO NPs were characterized by UV–Vis, FTIR, TEM, SEM, and XRD characterization techniques. According to the TEM analysis results, NPs have a spherical structure and an average size of 8.163 nm. According to the XRD results, it was observed that the mean crystalline size of the NPs was lower than the TEM analysis. Then, hydrogen production efficiency and photocatalytic efficiency were examined to observe the catalytic efficiency of NPs. The average reusability of Pd@ZnO NPs was found to be 74% after the four cycles. According to the measurements obtained, the Ea, ΔH, and ΔS values of Pd@ZnO NPs were found to be 37.76 kJ/mol, 35.23 kJ/mol, and -172.65 J/mol.K, respectively. In addition, 75% efficiency was obtained in photodegradation studies against Rhodamine B dye using sunlight irradiation. This study can be a basis for studies on the production of edible and sustainable nontoxic energy and the removal of dyestuffs from wastewater to prevent the pollution of the environment.

The title compound, C13H14N4O, was developed using the reaction of salicylaldehyde and 3-amino-5-cyclobutyl-1,2,4-triazole in ethanol under microwave irradiation. This eco-friendly microwave-promoted method proved to be efficient in the synthesis of 2-{[(E)-(3-cyclobutyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)imino]methyl}phenol in good yields and purity. The title compound is a Schiff base that exists in the phenol–imine tautomeric form and adopts an E configuration. The three independent molecules in the asymmetric unit (A, B and C) are not planar, the cyclobutyl and the phenol-imine rings are twisted to each other making a dihedral angle of 67.8 (4)° in molecule A, 69.1 (2)° in molecule B and 89.1 (2)° in molecule C. In each molecule an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond is present, forming an S(6) ring motif. A Hirshfeld surface analysis was performed to investigate the contributions of the different intermolecular contacts within the supramolecular structure. The major interactions are H...H (53%), C...H (19%) and N...H (17%) for molecule A, H...H (50%), N...H (20%) and C...H (20%) for molecule B and H...H (57%), C...H (14%) and N...H (13%) for molecule C.

In this study, Silver-Platinum (Pt-Ag) bimetallic nanoparticles were synthesized by the biogenic reduction method using plant extracts. This reduction method offers a highly innovative model for obtaining nanostructures using fewer chemicals. According to this method, a structure with an ideal size of 2.31 nm was obtained according to the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) result. The Pt-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffractometry (XRD), and Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-VIS) spectroscopy. For the electrochemical activity of the obtained nanoparticles in the dopamine sensor, electrochemical measurements were made with the Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) methods. According to the results of the CV measurements taken, the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.03 µM and the limit of quantification (LOQ) was 0.11 µM. To investigate the antibacterial properties of the obtained Pt-Ag NPs, their antibacterial effects on Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteria were investigated. In this study, it was observed that Pt-Ag NPs, which were successfully synthesized by biogenic synthesis using plant extract, exhibited high electrocatalytic performance and good antibacterial properties in the determination of dopamine (DA).

Heavy machinery operating in outdoor environments is exposed to both solar radiation and intensive load-bearing during operation. The long operating life of these machines and their components is enabled by the greases used in their bearings. The thermal properties of these greases play a crucial role in dissipating both the heat generated by friction in the bearings and the heat absorbed via solar radiation. In this study, we focus on maintaining successful heat transfer management in these machines. We select two types of grease, thickened with lithium and caoutchouc, containing CuO, TiO2 and graphite microparticles at 0.02, 3.33 and 10 wt%., respectively, which are used as additives to improve the heat transfer effects. A test rig is prepared to investigate the changes in temperature and torque under real operation conditions. The radiative properties of the non-additive greases are examined in the ultraviolet-visible range, and the greases with additives are examined over a wavelength range of 2.5–20 μm. The absorption properties of the greases are numerically determined based on the discrete dipole approximation for two different values of the imaginary part (k) of the complex refractive indices (m = n + ki) of the additive materials. Uncertainty analyses of the experimental results were performed using SPSS software. The temperature and torque distributions varied according to the weight fraction of the metallic microparticles and the type of grease, with the caoutchouc-thickened grease reaching higher temperatures and torques than the lithium-thickened grease. The temperature distributions of the lithium-thickened grease with additives were lower than for the same grease with no additives, while the temperature distributions of the caoutchouc-thickened grease with additives were higher than those for the same grease with no additives. The absorption values of the greases containing additives were lower than for samples with no additives in the infrared wavelength spectrum, except for a mixture of graphite and TiO2 at 10 wt%. The added microparticles positively influenced the heat transfer management of the greases.

Abstract The 1,l/-bis(2-phenylethan-1-ol)ferrocene, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluoro phosphate (BMPF6) and NiO-SWCNTs were used to modify carbon paste electrode (BPOFc/BMPF6/NiO-SWCNTs/CPE), which could act as an electro-catalytic tool for the analysis of N-acetylcysteine in this work. The BPOFc/BMPF6/NiO-SWCNTs/CPE with high electrical conductivity showed two completely separate signals with oxidation potentials of 432 and 970 mV for the first time that is sufficient for the determination of N-acetylcysteine in the presence of theophylline. The BPOFc/BMPF6/NiO-SWCNTs/CPE showed linear dynamic ranges of 0.02–300.0 μM and 1.0–350.0 μM with the detection limit of ~ 8.0 nM and 0.6 μM for the measurement of N-acetylcysteine and theophylline, respectively. In the second part, understanding the nature of interaction, quantum conductance modulation, electronic properties, charge density, and adsorption behavior of N-acetylcysteine on NiO–SWCNTs surface from first-principle studies through the use of theoretical investigation is vital for designing high-performance sensor materials. The N-acetylcysteine molecule was chemisorbed on the NiO–SWCNTs surface by suitable adsorption energies (− 1.102 to − 5.042 eV) and reasonable charge transfer between N-acetylcysteine and NiO–SWCNTs.

Abstract In this work, a novel nanosensing platform was suggested based on ruthenium for the sensitive determination of Idarubicin anticancer drugs. Ruthenium/Vulcan carbon-based nanoparticles were synthesized ultrasonication method and then characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The mean particle size of the nanoparticles calculated by the TEM analysis was found to be 1.98 nm ± 0.29 nm, and the Ru nanoparticles were mostly dispersed on the support material. Glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface was modified with Ruthenium/Vulcan carbon-based nanomaterials (Ru@VC), and characterization of the nanosensor was performed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) values were found as 9.25 × 10–9 M and 2.8 × 10–8 M in buffer samples. To demonstrate the applicability and validity of developed nanosensor, it was used for the determination of Idarubicin in Idamen® IV (10 mg/10 mL vial) and human serum sample. The results of recovery studies showed that the Ru@VC/GCE nanosensor was free from excipient interferences in the dosage forms of injection, and it can be successfully applied to biological samples.

Abstract The selective oxidation of benzylic alcohols was performed by using commercially available aluminum oxy-hydroxide-supported palladium (Pd/AlO(OH)) nanoparticles (0.5 wt.% Pd, about 3 nm size) under mild conditions. The oxidation method comprises the oxidation of benzyl alcohols catalyzed by aluminum oxy-hydroxide-supported palladium under ultrasonic and solvent-free conditions and a continuous stream of O2. The characterization of aluminum oxy-hydroxide-supported palladium nanocatalyst was conducted by several advanced analytical techniques including scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and elemental analysis by ICP-OES. The oxidation of a variety of benzyl alcohol compounds were tested by the aluminum oxy-hydroxide-supported palladium nanoparticles, and all expected oxidation products were obtained by the high conversion yields within 3 hours. The reaction progress was monitored by TLC (Thin-layer chromatography), and the yields of the products were determined by 1H-NMR and 13C NMR analysis.

In the field of biomaterial research, the electrospinning device is now used to manufacture nanofibers that can be used to encapsulate whole microorganisms such as bacterial cells, funguses, viruses, and even spores. The nanofiber encapsulated cells will have greater significance in the coming future because of their wide variety of applications in various fields. Nanofibers act as microorganism reservoir systems that enhance their properties such as viability, controlled release of products, biomedical applications, and bioremediation. The effect of electrostatic forces on a droplet of liquid polymer or polymer solution is based on electrospinning. Electrospun nanofibers act as ideal native extracellular matrices for microorganisms and have also had a tremendous advantage in drug delivery systems where modern research is still underway. During electrospinning, nearly all microorganisms may be inserted into a polymer matrix that forms a composite nanofiber. The evolution in electrospinning technique over the past few decades has become promising. New ideas have been generated to enhance the techniques and improve the overall applications and properties of nanofibers. This technique has been transformed by the advent of the electrospinning machine. The electrospun nanofibers can be chemically characterized by a wide variety of procedures such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Electrospinning has various applications, for example, in wastewater treatment, tissue engineering, food industry, drug delivery, agriculture, and cosmetics. Nanofiber encapsulation of microorganisms increased the shelf life of the microorganisms; the cells remain viable for months. It also helps in the control release of bacterial products. The present review demonstrates the role of nanofiber in the encapsulation of the whole cell.

In order to determine the health status of people and provide the most appropriate treatment, rapid and accurate diagnosis is required. Recently all the clinical analysis is piloted in specialized laboratories which require specific and automated instruments. The pre-diagnosis of any disease is important in effective treatment and it becomes a lifesaving option. The conventional disease diagnostic methods require highly skilled labor, use expensive chemicals and are time consuming. They also suffer from problems like less sensitivity and specificity. Biosensors can help address these problems and provide specific, fast diagnosis with low cost, ease of use and portability. Biosensors are instruments which have a capability to detect a biological compound like nucleic acids and proteins. They may be optical, piezoelectric, and electrochemical. This review discusses the role of various biosensors in disease detection and diagnosis. Use of different nanostructured materials in biosensors is also being reviewed. These devices demonstrate appropriate sensitivity, specificity and efficient diagnosis.

Objective We aimed to compare functional exercise capacity, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, pulmonary function and quality of life between patients with stable angina and healthy controls. Methods We compared 33 patients with stable angina (55.21 ± 6.12 years old, Canada Class II–III, left ventricular ejection fraction: 61.92 ± 7.55) and 30 healthy controls (52.70 ± 4.22 years old). Functional capacity (6-minute walk test (6-MWT)), respiratory muscle strength (mouth pressure device), peripheral muscle strength (dynamometer), pulmonary function (spirometer) and quality of life (Short Form 36 (SF-36)) were evaluated. Results 6-MWT distance (499.20 ± 51.91 m versus 633.05 ± 57.62 m), maximal inspiratory pressure (85.42 ± 20.52 cmH 2 O versus 110.44 ± 32.95 cmH 2 O), maximal expiratory pressure (83.33 ± 19.05 cmH 2 O versus 147.96 ± 54.80 cmH 2 O) and peripheral muscle strength, pulmonary function and SF-36 sub-scores were lower in the angina group versus the healthy controls, respectively. Conclusion Impaired peripheral and respiratory muscle strength, reduction in exercise capacity and quality of life are obvious in patients with stable angina. Therefore, these parameters should be considered in stable angina physiotherapy programmes to improve impairments.

In biomedical applications, silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) are of great interest due to their cost-effective and environmentally friendly properties. Green synthesis of nanoparticles for biological research is a preferred choice since it does not require additional reducing agent. For this purpose, in this study, we aimed to synthesize the biogenic silver nanoparticles with the help of Rosa canina plant (Rc-Ag NPs) and then they have been tried for their antioxidant and antibacterial properties. UV-Vis spectrophotometer, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses were performed for characterization of Rc-Ag NPs. Antioxidant properties of silver nanoparticles synthesized with Rosa canina plant were investigated against 2,2′-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH). DNA dissociation activity of synthesized Rc-Ag NPs was studied, and DNA dissociation activity was shown. The antimicrobial activity of Rc-Ag NPs was also tested using micro-dilution. According to the results, Rc-Ag NPs synthesized were found to be highly effective for anti-oxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, and DNA cleavage activities.

Background: The ‘smoker's paradox’ refers to the observation of favorable prognosis in current smokers following an acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in the era of fibrinolysis, however, several STEMI studies have demonstrated conflicting results in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (p-PCI). Objective: Aim of the current study was to evaluate the impact of cigarette smoking on left ventricular function in STEMI patients undergoing p-PCI. Methods: Our population is represented by 74 first-time anterior STEMI patients undergoing p-PCI, 37 of whom were smokers. We assessed left ventricular function by left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) on the second day after admission and at 3-month follow-up. Early predictors of adverse left ventricular remodelling after STEMI treated by p-PCI were examined. Results: Basal demographics and comorbidities were similar between groups. Although the LVEF during the early phase was higher in smokers compared to non-smokers (44.95 ± 7.93% vs. 40.32 ± 7.28%; p = 0.011); it worsened in smokers at follow-up (mean decrease in LVEF: −2.70 ± 5.95%), whereas it improved in non-smokers (mean recovery of LVEF: +2.97 ± 8.45%). In univariate analysis, diabetes mellitus, peak troponin I, current smoking, and lower TIMI flow grade after p-PCI, pain-to-door time and door-to-balloon times were predictors of adverse left ventricular remodelling. After multivariate logistic regression analysis, smoking at admission, lower TIMI flow grade after p-PCI, the pain-to-door time and door-to-balloon times remained independent predictors of deterioration in LVEF. Conclusion: True or persistent ‘smoker's paradox’ does not appear to be relevant among STEMI patients undergoing p-PCI. The ‘smoker's paradox’ is in fact a pseudo-paradox. Further studies with larger numbers may be warranted.

Coronary artery vasospasm is an important cause of chest pain syndromes that can lead to myocardial infarction, ventricular arrhythmias, and sudden death. In 1959, Prinzmetal et al described a syndrome of nonexertional chest pain with ST-segment elevation on electrocardiography. Persistent angina is challenging, and repeated coronary angioplasty may be required in this syndrome. Calcium antagonists are extremely effective in treating and preventing coronary spasm, and may provide long-lasting relief for the patient. Whereas the Wellens' syndrome is characterized by symmetrically inverted T-waves with preserved R waves in the precordial leads suggestive of impending myocardial infarction due to a critical proximal left anterior descending stenosis, the pseudo-Wellens' syndrome caused by coronary artery spasm has also rarely been reported in literature. We present a pseudo-Wellens syndrome as a cause of vasospastic angina, and a diffuse ST segment elavation on electrocardiogram resembling the Greek letter lambda, called also 'action potential-like' ECG in a patient with vasospastic-type Printzmetal angina.

Transportation of sweet cherry fruits to distant markets and further marketing processes often takes approximately 2-3 weeks. The present study investigates the quality changes during this time period at three stages for three sweet cherry cultivars: ‘Early Burlat’, ‘Napoleon’, and ‘0900 Ziraat’. Following pre-cooling, the sweet cherries were placed in modified atmosphere packages and exposed to the following stages for the indicated durations: transportation (T) [8 days at 2 °C and 85% relative humidity (RH)]; distribution center (DC) (4 days at 6.5 °C and 80% RH), and shelf-life (SL) (2 days at 19 °C and 70% RH). Weight losses at the end of the SL stage were 3.11, 3.18, and 2.74%, respectively in ‘Early Burlat’, ‘Napoleon’ and ‘0900 Ziraat’.Fruit firmness decreased after SL as compared to that at other stages and was more remarkable in ‘0900 Ziraat’. Decreased Chroma values which indicates, the intensity or color saturation were observed in all cultivars, whereas decreased hue angle values colours expressed in degrees were observed in the ‘Early Burlat’ and ‘0900 Ziraat’. In addition, a decrease was noted in the titratable acidity of all cultivars at the end of SL. The total soluble solids, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activities were similar for all cultivars at all stages. The visual appearance scores of ‘Early Burlat’ cherries decreased at the end of SL, because of development of pitting on the fruit surface. The fruit quality changes were limited at T and DC stages; however, these changes became more distinctive during the SL period. It was thus concluded that the SL duration and conditions were of the highest significance with regard to maintenance of the sweet cherry fruit quality.

The polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (PVT) is uncommon arrhythmia with multiple causes and has been classified according to whether they are associated with long QT interval or normal QT. Whereas “Torsade de pointes (TdP)” is an uncommon and distinctive form of PVT occurring in a setting of prolonged QT interval, which may be congenital or acquired (congenital or acquired), “PVT with normal QT” is associated with myocardial ischemia, electrolyte abnormalities (hypokalemia), mutations of the cardiac sodium channel (Brugada syndrome), and the ryanodine receptor (catecholaminergic PVT). This distinction is crucial because of the differing etiologies and management of these arrhythmias. Moreover, the PVT in the setting of acute MI generally occurs during the hyperacute phase, is related to ischemia (“ischemic PVT”) and is not associated with QT prolongation. It is triggered by ventricular extrasystoles with very short coupling interval (the “R-on-T” phenomenon) and is not pause-dependent. However, recently there has been described a new PVT during the “healing phase” of MI in patients with no evidence of ongoing ischemia and following excessive QT prolongation, the electrophysiologic abnormality being a “pause-dependent infarct-related TdP” due to a LQTS in healing MI patients. Therefore, “ischemic PVT” differs from “infarct-related TdP” in terms of pathophysiology and ECG manifestations.

Prediction of left main coronary artery (LMCA) or equivalent disease is important with regard to selecting the appropriate treatment strategy. The classical electrocardiographic pattern of LMCA disease includes ST elevation (STE) in lead aVR in the presence of extensive ST depression (most prominent in leads I, II, and V4–6) with the STE in aVR ≥ V1. Patients with these findings may potentially require early coronary angiography and coronary bypass surgery; therefore selected patients with these findings on exercise testing might benefit from more urgent or expedited angiography.

Background: Heart failure (HF) is a common, progressive, complex clinical syndrome and a subset of HF patients has symptoms out of proportion to the resting hemodynamics and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Right ventricular (RV) function is a powerful prognostic factor in HF, but assessing it is a challenge because of the right ventricle's complex geometry. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical application value of RV outflow tract (RVOT) function measured by transthoracic echocardiography in HF patients. Method: We prospectively investigated 36 chronic HF patients with dilated heart and LV systolic dysfunction and 21 healthy control subjects (normal ventricular function and ECG, and no cardiac risk factors).
