This document will present the results of a competitive market analysis of already existing climate services and components relevant to MED-GOLD. This deliverable aims to constitute the basis for subsequent exploitation of MED-GOLD exploitable results, including the actual technical innovation/knowledge transfer and concrete business models to be adopted with regards to the project’s results. &nbsp

MED-GOLD is a four-year research and innovation project, whose main aim was to co-develop climate services for three staples of the Mediterranean food system, namely grapes, olives and durum wheat. This paper describes the methodology adopted for the co-development of the pilot climate service for the wine sector, focusing on the Douro Demarcated Region (DDR) in northern Portugal. In the first step, the MED-GOLD Champion Sogrape Vinhos identified the key management decisions, the climatic information of interest and users’ needs for the wine sector in the DDR. From this information, the relevant bioclimatic indicators (and the key essential climate variables - ECVs) were identified and obtained. Afterwards, two compound risk indices, the Sanitary and Heat Risk indices, were also calculated as a combination of some of the aforementioned bioclimatic indicators. This methodological work was validated against the empirical climate characterization for the region of interest, of several ‘bad’ and ‘good’ years chosen by users according to their recollections of grape and wine production outcomes, namely overall quality and yields. In addition, the overall strategy for selection of these years is presented. Then, the two components of the service based on seasonal predictions and longer-term climate projections are described. The final step was the development of the MED-GOLD Dashboard, an interactive tool that displays detailed historical climate data, seasonal predictions and climate projections. The dashboard is a map-based, user-focused visualization interface to aid easy access to and understanding of the data computed in an ICT platform. The dashboard was iteratively co-designed with the users to ensure their needs were met.

This report briefly describes the final release of the MED-GOLDICT platform, documenting both the general technologicalinfrastructure and the content of the associated code repositories.

The H2020 MED-GOLD Living Lab ”Turning climate information into value for traditional Mediterranean agri-food systems” was implemented as a solution to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting travel restrictions. Originally planned as a summer school in Cagliari in Italy, this training event was held online over five weeks between May and June 2020. This work describes the main features of the MED-GOLD Living Lab 2020, including the necessary steps and the strategy adopted to turn the originally planned physical summer school into an online event. The MED-GOLD Living Lab 2020 was dedicated to early career scientists and professionals in the areas of climate science, agriculture, economy, social sciences and communication. The Living Lab has been conducted as an on-line event for five weeks, from May 25 to June 25, with weekly interactive webinars by speakers across different disciplines and on-line working groups with multidisciplinary teams, supported by scientists from the MED-GOLD experts as mentors.Participants have been challenged by real users of climate information to develop prototype climate services for the agri-food sector, building on the knowledge and skills shared during the event.Early career scientists and professionals with a wide range of individual profiles have been encouraged to apply and join the multidisciplinary teams: climate scientists, agronomists, software developers (R, Python), economists, social scientists, communication and visual communication experts.The purpose of the Living Lab was to demonstrate to the participants the MED-GOLD concepts and methodologies to develop climate services as well as become familiar with climate data and tools made available through the Copernicus Climate Data Store (CDS).An online feedback form was distributed to participants in the last day of the living lab. Overall the feedback received was very positive with all respondents stating that they would recommend this living lab to others. The majority of respondents were positive about the overall content, design and delivery of the living lab. However, the interactive aspects of the Living Lab could be further improved not only to ensure that the interactions between participants (e.g. to pursue their work group are effective but also in terms of ensuring that the time at which the living lab runs fits with participants’ own commitments. Potential ways of overcoming these could be to e.g. allocate a specific slot during the living lab programme for group work as well as to identify specific dates/time slots to run future living labs together with participants.The majority enjoyed the opportunity to engage with real-problems and stakeholders, working in multidisciplinary teams and engaging with experts in climate services.Taking into account the circumstances of the COVID-19 emergency and based on the feedback by the participants, the Living lab was a successful experiment that could be replicated and further enhanced for the second training event, MED-GOLD Living Lab 2021 planned for late spring 2021.

This document describes the deployment of MED-GOLD’s ICT Platform (deliverable 1.5) as result of the first seven months of activities on Task 1.4 of WP1.The main activities carried out to complete this deliverable were to: 1. collect the ICT requirements of the three pilot services and of the MED-GOLD project as a whole, keeping into due consideration the reproducibility and the sustainability of the project and the platform itself; 2. elaborate a functional workflow of the ICT platform; 3. evaluate the state of the art of cloud-based technologies and chose the right cloud infrastructure for the deployment of the platform according to the project needs and requirements; 4. design a system-level technical architecture of the ICT platform; 5. deploy the first working version of the ICT platform on the designated cloud infrastructure.&nbsp

The increasing di usion of data acquisition systems paves the way to traceability based process management and de nition. In the clinical context, IHE formalizes the reference guidelines, periodically enhanced to re ect processes evolution. In this work we describe how we have modeled the phlebotomy process following the IHE references and best-practices to obtain a fully traceable work ow. The work has resulted in two new transactions for the IHE LBL pro le, describing samples containers production and samples collection. The complete work ow has been im- plemented and successfully tested in real clinical environ- ments. The traceability data acquired have then been stud- ied using Process Mining techniques to compare the pro- duction model with idealized work ow and guide further developments.

This report presents the ideas and concepts collected among project partners, agronomists and farmers in order to build up a climate service prototype for durum wheat. Each component of this new agro-climatic information and decision support system is described. Preliminary results are presented as well. This report presents, often in a graphical and intuitive manner, the sequence of stages needed to set up an operational climate service in the Mediterranean area applicable over a wide range of temporal scales and with the possibility of being implemented in other areas of the World that are (or will be) suitable for durum wheat cultivation. &nbsp
