Macroporous cryogel has the advantages of nutrient exchange and cell growth, and is an ideal material for tissue regeneration. In order to strengthen the machenical properties of cryogel for the widely use, a high strength gelatin/sodium alginate/nano hydroxyapatite (nHA) porous cryogel (GA-HA cryogel) was prepared by a simple freeze-thaw process. The mechanical strength of GA-HA cryogel increased significantly with the increase of nHA content. In vitro studies showed that GA-HA cryogel had good biocompatibility and no obvious cytotoxicity to MC3T3-E1 cells. The results of alkaline phosphatase activity assay and osteocalcin immunofluorescence staining showed that GA-HA1 porous hydrogel system could significantly increase the expression of MC3T3-E1 alkaline phosphatase and osteocalcin when the content of nHA was 1 ​%. In addition, porous GA-HA cryogel showed good performance in promoting bone regeneration in rat skull defect model. Therefore, the high-strength double network cryogel prepared in this study can provide new applications in bone repair and tissue regeneration.

Abstract Objective To develop a nomogram based on tumor and peritumoral edema (PE) radiomics features extracted from preoperative multiparameter MRI for predicting brain invasion (BI) in atypical meningioma (AM). Methods In this retrospective study, according to the 2021 WHO classification criteria, a total of 469 patients with pathologically confirmed AM from three medical centres were enrolled and divided into training (n = 273), internal validation (n = 117) and external validation (n = 79) cohorts. BI was diagnosed based on the histopathological examination. Preoperative contrast-enhanced T1-weighted MR images (T1C) and T2-weighted MR images (T2) for extracting meningioma features and T2-fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) sequences for extracting meningioma and PE features were obtained. The multiple logistic regression was applied to develop separate multiparameter radiomics models for comparison. A nomogram was developed by combining radiomics features and clinical risk factors, and the clinical usefulness of the nomogram was verified using decision curve analysis. Results Among the clinical factors, PE volume and PE/tumor volume ratio are the risk of BI in AM. The combined nomogram based on multiparameter MRI radiomics features of meningioma and PE and clinical indicators achieved the best performance in predicting BI in AM, with area under the curve values of 0.862 (95% CI, 0.819–0.905) in the training cohort, 0.834 (95% CI, 0.780–0.908) in the internal validation cohort and 0.867 (95% CI, 0.785–0.950) in the external validation cohort, respectively. Conclusions The nomogram based on tumor and PE radiomics features extracted from preoperative multiparameter MRI and clinical factors can predict the risk of BI in patients with AM.

The ginsenoside isomers were analyzed and distinguished by using inlet ionization-high resolution mass spectrometry technology under positive and negative ion modes with optimum inlet temperatures. The results showed that under the full scanning mode of positive and negative ion modes with the optimum experimental temperature, different types of ions were formed according to the characteristics of different numbers of polymers formed by isomeric monomers of ginsenoside, and the identification of ginsenoside isomers was realized. For the identification of ginsenoside CK and Rh2, there was no obvious difference in their MS spectra under positive ion mode. However, under negative ion mode with the inlet temperature of 200 ℃, ginsenoside CK tended to form polymers of [M+Cl]－, Rh2 tended to form polymers of [M+COOH]－, and the number of polymers of CK was significantly higher than that of Rh2. For the identification of ginsenoside Rb2 and Rc, under positive ion mode with the inlet temperature of 200 ℃, ginsenoside Rb2 and Rc could produce polymers of [M+Na]+, but the polymers peak intensity of Rb2 was significantly higher than that of Rc. Under negative ion mode with the inlet temperature of 200 ℃, Rb2 tended to form polymers of [M+Cl]－, and Rc tended to form polymers of [M+COOH]－. For the identification of ginsenoside Rg1 and Rf, there was no obvious difference in their MS spectra under the positive ion mode. Under negative ion mode with the inlet temperature of 200 ℃, Rg1 and Rf tended to form polymers of [M+Cl]－ and [M−H]−, respectively. In this study, the three pairs of isomers in ginsenosides were basically identified by using the full MS scanning method and the control of the mass spectrometry inlet temperature. The experimental method is simple, fast, and has the characteristics of low consumption. This study confirms that the entrance ionization mass spectrometry technique can provide a theoretical reference for the rapid discrimination and identification of ginsenoside isomers.

Abstract In the LEO satellite communication system, the resource utilization rate is very low due to the constrained resources on satellites and the non-uniform distribution of traffics. In addition, the rapid movement of LEO satellites leads to complicated and changeable networks, which makes it difficult for traditional resource allocation strategies to improve the resource utilization rate. To solve the above problem, this paper proposes a resource allocation strategy based on deep reinforcement learning. The strategy takes the weighted sum of spectral efficiency, energy efficiency and blocking rate as the optimization objective, and constructs a joint power and channel allocation model. The strategy allocates channels and power according to the number of channels, the number of users and the type of business. In the reward decision mechanism, the maximum reward is obtained by maximizing the increment of the optimization target. However, during the optimization process, the decision always focuses on the optimal allocation for current users, and ignores QoS for new users. To avoid the situation, current service beams are integrated with high- traffic beams, and states of beams are refactored to maximize long-term benefits to improve system performance. Simulation experiments show that in scenarios with a high number of users, the proposed resource allocation strategy reduces the blocking rate by at least 5% compared to reinforcement learning methods, effectively enhancing resource utilization.

Abstract There is a pressing need for innovative therapeutic strategies for patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Previous studies have shown that UNC-51-like kinase 1 (ULK1), a serine/threonine kinase, is crucial in regulating cellular autophagy and mitophagy across various tumor types. However, the clinical implications, biological functions, and potential mechanisms of ULK1 in EOC remain poorly understood. This study demonstrates that ULK1 expression is upregulated in EOC tissue samples and EOC cell lines, with increased ULK1 expression correlating with poor prognosis. Functionally, overexpressed ULK1 enhances the proliferation and migration abilities of EOC cells both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, ULK1 was identified as an m6A target of WTAP. WTAP-mediated m6A modification of ULK1 enhanced its mRNA stability in an IGF2BP3-dependent manner, leading to elevated ULK1 expression and enhanced mitophagy in EOC. In summary, our research reveals that the WTAP/IGF2BP3-ULK1 axis significantly influences protective mitophagy in EOC, contributing to its progression. Therefore, the regulatory mechanisms and biological function of ULK1 identify it as a potential molecular target for therapeutic intervention in EOC.

Abstract Wu-tou decoction (WTD), a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It works by controlling intestinal flora and its metabolites, which in turn modulates the inflammatory response and intestinal barrier function. Small molecular compounds (SM) and polysaccharides (PS) were the primary constituents of WTD extract. In this work, a model of adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) in rats was established and treated with WTD, SM, and PS, respectively. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to examine the regulatory impact of the various groups on the disturbance of the gut flora induced by RA. Further, since PS cannot be absorbed into the blood, the influence of PS on the absorption and metabolism of SM was studied by examining their pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters of 23 active components in SM by UPLC-MS/MS. WTD was found to be more effective than PS and SM in alleviating arthritis in AIA rats, which may be related to changes in gut flora. The PK properties of 13 active compounds were altered after PS intervene. Based on the findings, PS may be able to manage the disruption of intestinal microbiota, enhance the intestinal environment of model animals, and hence influence SM absorption and metabolism.

Multi-hop reasoning over language or graphs represents a significant challenge in contemporary research, particularly with the reliance on deep neural networks. These networks are integral to text reasoning processes, yet they present challenges in extracting and representing domain or commonsense knowledge, and they often lack robust logical reasoning capabilities. To address these issues, we introduce an innovative text reasoning framework. This framework is grounded in the use of a semantic relation graph and a graph neural network, designed to enhance the model’s ability to encapsulate knowledge and facilitate complex multi-hop reasoning.Our framework operates by extracting knowledge from a broad range of texts. It constructs a semantic relationship graph based on the logical relationships inherent in the reasoning process. Beginning with the core question, the framework methodically deduces key knowledge, using it as a guide to iteratively establish a complete evidence chain, thereby determining the final answer. Leveraging the advanced reasoning capabilities of the graph neural network, this approach is adept at multi-hop logical reasoning. It demonstrates strong performance in tasks like machine reading comprehension and question answering, while also clearly delineating the path of logical reasoning.

Summer extreme heat events happen frequently in northern China during recent decades, which have serious impacts on the society and ecosystem. The present study reveals that there is a synergistic effect of the preceding winter positive mid-latitude North Atlantic SST anomaly (pMNA SSTA) and summer negative tropical eastern Indian Ocean SST anomaly (nTEI SSTA) on strengthening the summer extreme heat events in northern China. The extreme heat events are stronger and more frequent when the two factors cooccur, and the probability of a strengthened extreme heat events is higher, which indicates a synergistic effect of the two factors. The preceding winter pMNA SSTA and summer nTEI SSTA exert their synergistic effect through a series of coupled oceanic-land-atmospheric bridges. The preceding winter pMNA SSTA could lead to an anomalous anticyclone over central Asia via the eastward propagating Rossby wave, which decreases snowfall and the subsequent snow cover there. The negative snow cover anomaly may persist into spring and induce a local anomalous anticyclone in spring via the snow-hydrological effect, which decreases the precipitation over the southern flank of the anomalous anticyclone. The decreased soil moisture persists into summer and induces the eastward propagating Rossby wave, and favors the increase of atmosphere thickness over northern China. The summer nTEI SSTA can also induce the anomalous anticyclone over northern China via the northeastward Rossby wave propagation. Thus, the two factors exhibit evident synergistic effect on the atmospheric circulation anomaly over northern China. The anomalous anticyclone corresponds to the increased atmosphere thickness, which favors the increase of air temperature in northern China and strengthening of extreme heat events. Therefore, the preceding winter pMNA SSTA and summer nTEI SSTA have significant synergistic effect on strengthening the summer extreme heat events in northern China.

The 3D mesh fabric is a key component of automotive seat ventilation systems as it has good compression resistance and creates channels to provide effective circulating airflow. The dimensional inconsistency of fabric sheets by laser cutting to be integrated into car seats and their unrecoverable dimension changes in subsequent cushioning applications are challenging problems. A typical commercialized 3D mesh fabric was observed to shorten and widen under compression, showing an auxetic behavior in the length–thickness section. This counterintuitive partial auxetic behavior accounts for the dimensional variation. A full-size finite element (FE) model of the fabric was established to simulate the complex fabric deformation based on the precise geometry of a unit cell obtained by X-ray micro-computed tomography (μCT) scanning. The FE simulation reproduced the planar dimension change process of the fabric. The underlying mechanism of partial auxeticity was revealed from the global to local analysis, including fabric global deformation, unit meshes deformation and unit cell geometric structure change. It was shown that buckling of initially post-buckled spacer monofilaments drives in-plane movements of monofilament loops to cause partial auxetic behavior. The partial auxeticity weakens in the compression process due to the gradual intercontact and densification of spacer monofilaments. Different constraints on monofilament loops from adjacent unit cells and multifilament inlays make the deformation uneven in the plane of fabric. It is important to fully analyze the dimensional change, especially the partial auxetic deformation, of the 3D mesh fabric under compression for its practical applications.

Abstract Background Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) by routine hematoxylin and eosin staining (H&E-TILs) are a robust prognostic biomarker in various cancers. However, the role of H&E-TILs in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) has not been reported. The purpose of this study was to assess the prognostic value of H&E-TILs in ESCC treated with CCRT. Methods The clinical data of 160 patients with ESCC treated with CCRT in our center between Jan. 2014 and Dec. 2021 were collected and retrospectively reviewed, and propensity score matching (PSM) analyses were performed. The H&E-TILs sections before CCRT were reassessed by two experienced pathologists independently. The H&E-TILs sections were classified into a positive group (+, > 10%) and a negative group (-, ≤ 10%) using 10% as the cutoff. The effects of H&E-TILs on overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), and locoregional recurrence-free survival (LRFS) were explored using the Kaplan‒Meier method, and the log-rank test was used to test the differences. Abstract Improving regeneration of damaged thymus is important for reconstituting T-cell immunity. Interleukin-22 (IL-22) was proved to improve thymus regeneration through recovering thymic epithelial cells (TECs). The IL-22 receptor IL-22RA1 is crucial for mediating IL-22 functions. Mechanism that regulates IL-22RA1 expression is unknown. Through using TECs-conditional knockout mice, we found aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) is important for thymus regeneration, because Foxn1-cre-mediated AHR knockout (AhrKO) significantly blocks recovery of thymus cells. Giving mice the AHR inhibitor CH-223191 or the AHR agonist FICZ blocks or accelerates thymus regeneration, respectively. AhrKO-mediated blockade of thymus regeneration could not be rescued by giving exogenous IL-22. Mechanistically, AhrKO mice shows decreased IL-22RA1 expression. In the murine TECs cell line mTEC1 cells, targeting AHR shows an impact on IL-22RA1 mRNA levels. Using chromatin immunoprecipitation and luciferase reporter assays, we find AHR co-operates with STAT3, binds the promotor region of IL-22RA1 gene and transcriptionally increases IL-22RA1 expression in mTEC1 cells. Foxn1-cre-mediated IL-22RA1 knockout (Il22ra1KO) blocks thymus regeneration after irradiation. Furthermore, targeting AHR or IL-22RA1 has significant impacts on severity of murine chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), which is an autoimmune-like complication following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. Giving FICZ decreases cGVHD, whereas Il22ra1KO exacerbates cGVHD. The impacts on cGVHD are associated with thymus regeneration and T-cell immune reconstitution. In conclusion, we report an unrecognized function of TECs-expressed AHR in thymus regeneration and AHR transcriptionally regulates IL-22RA1 expression, which have implications for improving thymus regeneration and controlling cGVHD.

Abstract Objective To establish a prediction model using non-invasive clinical features for early discrimination of DM-ILD in clinical practice. Method Clinical data of pediatric patients with JDM were retrospectively analyzed using machine learning techniques. The early discrimination model for JDM-ILD was established within a patient cohort diagnosed with JDM at a children’s hospital between June 2015 and October 2022. Results A total of 93 children were included in the study, with the cohort divided into a discovery cohort (n = 58) and a validation cohort (n = 35). Univariate and multivariate analyses identified factors associated with JDM-ILD, including higher ESR (OR, 3.58; 95% CI 1.21–11.19, P = 0.023), higher IL-10 levels (OR, 1.19; 95% CI, 1.02–1.41, P = 0.038), positivity for MDA-5 antibodies (OR, 5.47; 95% CI, 1.11–33.43, P = 0.045). A nomogram was developed for risk prediction, demonstrating favorable discrimination in both the discovery cohort (AUC, 0.736; 95% CI, 0.582–0.868) and the validation cohort (AUC, 0.792; 95% CI, 0.585–0.930). Higher nomogram scores were significantly associated with an elevated risk of disease progression in both the discovery cohort (P = 0.045) and the validation cohort (P = 0.017). Conclusion The nomogram based on the ESIM predictive model provides valuable guidance for the clinical evaluation and long-term prognosis prediction of JDM-ILD.

Abstract Background Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is a rare vascular neoplasm affecting infants or young children. KHE includes a spectrum of lesions, ranging from small and superficial tumors to large and invasive lesions with Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon (KMP). Currently, no published studies have reported a KHE presenting as thrombocytopenia and Raynaud phenomenon. Case presentation A 2-year-old boy with right hand swelling and thrombocytopenia was admitted to our hospital. His right hand turned swelling and red, even occasionally cyanotic. This condition became worse in response to cool environments and improved with warming, and platelet counts were between 50 ~ 80 × 10^9/L. Physical examination on admission revealed the swelling and frostbite-like rash of the right-hand fingers, and the skin temperature of the right hand was lower than the left. On day 3 of admission, chest CT results showed an irregular mass on the right side of the spine. The puncture biopsy demonstrated positive CD31, D2-40, and FLI1 immunohistochemical staining, but negative GLUT1 staining, confirming the diagnosis of KHE. Furthermore, endothelin-1 (ET1) expression levels significantly increased, and eNOS and A20 expression levels significantly decreased comparing with control patients. The patient received methylprednisolone and sirolimus treatments, and his condition gradually improved during the follow-up. Conclusions We reported the first case of KHE presenting with thrombocytopenia and Raynaud phenomenon. The development of Raynaud phenomenon could be associated with increased ET-1 and reduced eNOS and A20 expressions. Careful differential diagnosis of hidden KHE should be considered in children with thrombocytopenia and Raynaud phenomenon.

Abstract The traditional surgical technique for esophageal cancer is mainly open esophagectomy. With the innovation of surgical instruments, it is necessary to re-optimize the minimally invasive surgery. Therefore, single-port thoracoscopic minimally invasive esophagectomy (SPTE) is an important direction of development. This study retrospectively analyzed 202 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma undergoing SPTE. Surgical variables and postoperative complications were further evaluated. All procedures were performed using SPTE. The number of patients who received R0 resection was 201 (99.5%). The total number of resected lymph nodes during the whole operation was on average 32.01 ± 12.15, and the mean number of positive lymph nodes was 1.56 ± 2.51. In 170 cases (84.2%), intraoperative blood loss did not exceed 100 ml (ml), while 1 case had postoperative bleeding. Only 1 patient (0.5%) required reoperation after surgery. Postoperative complications included 42 cases of pneumonia (20.8%), 9 cases of anastomotic leak (4.5%), 7 cases of pleural effusion (3.8%), and 1 case (0.5%) of both pleural hemorrhage and acute gastrointestinal hemorrhagic ulcer. Besides, we also recorded the time to remove the drain tube, which averaged 9.13 ± 5.31 days. In our study, we confirmed that the application of SPTE in clinical practice is feasible, and that the postoperative complications are at a low level.

In deep coal mining, the combinations of high temperature, high ground pressure, high karst water pressure and stress disturbance lead to a discontinuous deformation and complex rupture behavior of the surrounding rocks. Reproduction of the rock failure process using the numerical approaches becomes an important way to study the rock rupture phenomena and to reveal associated failure mechanisms. With a strict mathematical foundation in contact representation, numerical integration, and convergence examination, the improved DDA method with block subdivision strategy and bond representations can effectively simulate the failure process of fractured rock masses from continuous elastic deformation stage to progressive failure stage, and the complete breakage stage. Based on the idea of piecewise characterization of the edge-edge bonding effect, a segmented edge-edge bond model is proposed, where the linear and nonlinear bonding constitutive relationships are equivalently characterized by paired penalty springs at the center of each segment. The segmented edge-edge bond models are embedded into the conventional framework of the discontinuous deformation analysis with a triangular segmentation for the optimized simulation of rock fracturing process. By the deformation and stress analysis of the simulation results in the center compression test of the simple support beam, the uniaxial compression and the Brazilian splitting test of rock specimen, the accuracy of the proposed model is verified. The reasonable values or ranges of the segmentation number, bonding stiffness ratio, tangential-to-normal stiffness ratio and other associated parameters of the segmented edge-edge bond are obtained. In the numerical simulation of uniaxial compression test for complete and cavitated sandstone specimens, the assignment methods of the deformation associated parameters (e.g., block elastic modulus, block Poisson ratio) and the strength associated parameters (e.g., bond tensile strength, bond cohesion, and bond friction angle) are clarified. Also, the accuracy of the proposed model in reproducing the stress-strain curve and initial cracking position is verified. In the numerical investigation of the Brazilian splitting test of sandstone with single or combined flaws, the feasibility of the proposed model in reproducing crack initiation, propagation and intersection is verified. In summary, the proposed segmented edge-edge bond model can be applied for investigating the failure phenomena and mechanisms of rock masses with complex fracture networks.

Abstract Background Ovarian cancer (OC) is the most malignant tumor with the worst prognosis in female reproductive system. Mitophagy and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play pivotal roles in tumorigenesis, development, and drug resistance. The effects of mitophagy-related lncRNAs on OC prognosis and therapeutic response remain unelucidated. Methods We retrieved OC-related RNA sequence, copy number variation, somatic mutation, and clinicopathological information from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and mitophagy-related gene sets from the Reactome database. Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to distinguish mitophagy-related lncRNAs. A prognostic lncRNA signature was constructed using UniCox, LASSO, and forward stepwise regression analysis. Individuals with a risk score above or below the median were classified as high- or low-risk groups, respectively. The risk model was analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier estimator, receiver operating characteristic curve, decision curve analysis, and Cox regression analysis and validated using an internal dataset. LINC00174 was validated in clinical samples and OC cell lines. We also reviewed reports on the role of LINC00174 in cancer. Subsequently, a nomogram model was constructed. Furthermore, the Genomics of Drug Sensitivity in Cancer database was used to explore the relationship between the risk model and anti-tumor drug sensitivity. Gene set variation analysis was performed to assess potential differences in biological functions between the two groups. Finally, a lncRNA prognostic signature-related competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed. Results The prognostic signature showed that patients in the high-risk group had a poorer prognosis. The nomogram exhibited satisfactory accuracy and predictive potential. LINC00174 mainly acts as an oncogene in cancer and is upregulated in OC; its knockdown inhibited the proliferation and migration, and promoted apoptosis of OC cells. High-risk patients were more insensitive to cisplatin and olaparib than low-risk patients. The ceRNA network may help explore the potential regulatory mechanisms of lncRNAs. Conclusion The mitophagy-related lncRNA signature can help estimate the survival and drug sensitivity, the ceRNA network may provide novel therapeutic targets for patients with OC.

Abstract Background Immunocheckpoint inhibitor(ICI) is a major breakthrough in tumor treatment. It can activate the patient’s own immune system and play an anti-tumor role, but not all patients can benefit from it. At present, there is still a lack of effective biomarkers to guide clinical application. The systemic immune inflammation(SII) index reflects the systemic inflammatory state and immune state of patients. Prognostic nutrition index(PNI) can be used to evaluate immune status of patients. Therefore, SII and PNI indexes may have some value in predicting the efficacy and prognosis of immunotherapy, but there is still a lack of relevant research. The purpose of our study was to explore the influence of SII and PNI index on the efficacy and prognosis of immunotherapy. Methods A total of 1935 patients treated with ICIs treatment in the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University from November 2016 to October 2021 were retrospectively collected. 435 patients who met the inclusion criteria and did not meet the exclusion criteria. The imaging data, blood results of each patient were collected within 1 week before ICIs treatment. The neutrophil lymphocyte ratio(NLR), platelet lymphocyte ratio(PLR), monocyte lymphocyte ratio(MLR), PNI,systemic inflammatory response index(SIRI),neutrophil-eosinophil ratio(NER) was calculated. The patients were followed up by in-patient, out-patient reexamination and telephone contact, and the efficacy evaluation and survival status were recorded. The deadline of follow-up: January 2021. SPSS-24.0 software was employed for statistical analysis. Results Among the 435 patients receiving ICI treatment, 61,236 and 138 patients were evaluated respectively as partial response (PR), stable disease (SD) and progressive disease (PD). The overall response rate(ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) of this cohort were 14.0% and 68.3%, respectively. Median progression-free survival (mPFS) is 4.0 months, The overall survival (mOS) of this cohort is 6.8 months. Multivariate analysis showed that SIRI(Hazard Ratio, HR = 1.304, P = 0.014), PNI (HR = 0.771, P = 0.019), prealbumin (PAB) (HR = 0.596, P = 0.001), and PNI(HR = 0.657, P = 0.008) were independent risk factors for PFS and OS, respectively. Conclusions Patients with high SIRI value and low PNI value before ICI treatment have shorter PFS. Patients with higher PNI value have better prognosis. Therefore, hematological indicators may become predictors of immunotherapy.

In order to effectively detect the damage existing in the key parts of the tire, a tire surface damage detection method based on image processing was proposed. In this method, the image of tire side is captured by camera first. Then, the collected images are preprocessed by optimizing the multi-scale bilateral filtering algorithm to enhance the detailed information of the damaged area, and the optimization effect is obvious. Thirdly, the image segmentation based on clustering algorithm is carried out. Finally, the Harris corner detection method is used to capture the “salt and pepper” corner of the target region, and the segmsegmed binary image is screened and matched based on histogram correlation, and the target region is finally obtained. The experimental results show that the similarity detection is accurate, and the damage area can meet the requirements of accurate identification.

Abstract Background Osteosarcopenia is a syndrome with a concomitant presence of both sarcopenia and osteopenia/osteoporosis. It increases the risk of frailty, falls, fractures, hospitalization, and death. Not only does it burden the lives of older adults, but it also increases the economic burden on health systems around the world. This study aimed to review the prevalence and risk factors of osteosarcopenia to generate important references for clinical work in this area. Methods Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, CBM, and VIP databases were searched from inception until April 24th, 2022. The quality of studies included in the review was evaluated using the NOS and AHRQ Scale. Pooled effects of the prevalence and associated factors were calculated using random or fixed effects models. Egger’s test, Begg’s test, and funnel plots were used to test the publication bias. Sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis were conducted to identify the sources of heterogeneity. Statistical analysis was performed using Stata 14.0 and Review Manager 5.4. Results A total of 31 studies involving 15,062 patients were included in this meta-analysis. The prevalence of osteosarcopenia ranged from 1.5 to 65.7%, with an overall prevalence of 21% (95% CI: 0.16–0.26). The risk factors for osteosarcopenia were female (OR 5.10, 95% CI: 2.37–10.98), older age (OR 1.12, 95% CI: 1.03–1.21), and fracture (OR 2.92, 95% CI: 1.62–5.25). Conclusion The prevalence of osteosarcopenia was high. Females, advanced age, and history of fracture were independently associated with osteosarcopenia. It is necessary to adopt integrated multidisciplinary management.

Objective: The role of Primary Tumor Volume (PTV) in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) treated with Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) is still unclear. The aim of this study was to access the effect of PTV in prognosis prediction of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in era of VMAT. Methods: Between January 20 and November 2011, 498 consecutive NPC patients with stage I–IVA disease who received VMAT at a single center were retrospectively analyzed. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) was performed to access the cut-off point of PTV. Univariate Kaplan-Meier and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to evaluate prognostic value for PTV. The Propensity Score Matching (PSM) was used to adjust baseline potential confounders. Results: The 5-year Locol-Regional Failure-Free (L-FFR), Distant Failure-Free Survival (D-FFR), Disease-Free Survival (DFS) and Overall Survival (OS) were 90.6%, 83.7%, 71.5% and 79.3%, respectively. Before PSM, the 5-year L-FFR, D-FFR, DFS, OS rates for NPC patients with PTV ≤ 38 mL vs. PTV > 38 mL were 94.1% vs. 90.4% (p = 0.063), 87.9% vs. 76.3% (p 38 mL may be considered as an indicator of the clinical stage of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Co-clinical trials are the concurrent or sequential evaluation of therapeutics in both patients clinically and patient-derived xenografts (PDX) pre-clinically, in a manner designed to match the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the agent(s) used. The primary goal is to determine the degree to which PDX cohort responses recapitulate patient cohort responses at the phenotypic and molecular levels, such that pre-clinical and clinical trials can inform one another. A major issue is how to manage, integrate, and analyze the abundance of data generated across both spatial and temporal scales, as well as across species. To address this issue, we are developing MIRACCL (molecular and imaging response analysis of co-clinical trials), a web-based analytical tool. For prototyping, we simulated data for a co-clinical trial in “triple-negative” breast cancer (TNBC) by pairing pre- (T0) and on-treatment (T1) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from the I-SPY2 trial, as well as PDX-based T0 and T1 MRI. Baseline (T0) and on-treatment (T1) RNA expression data were also simulated for TNBC and PDX. Image features derived from both datasets were cross-referenced to omic data to evaluate MIRACCL functionality for correlating and displaying MRI-based changes in tumor size, vascularity, and cellularity with changes in mRNA expression as a function of treatment.

AbstractObjectives Tracheobronchial Talaromyces marneffei (T. marneffei) infections among non-HIV-infected patients are rare. To improve understanding, we analysed the clinical features, immune mechanisms, treatment, and prognosis.Methods Data on hospitalized patients with tracheobronchial T. marneffei infections from September 2013 to May 2022 were collected. The clinical and imaging features were analysed.Results Nineteen patients were enrolled, with a median age of 52 years (45–62 years). The most common symptoms were cough, expectoration, fever, weight loss, and anaemia. The total white blood cell and neutrophil counts, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin and globulin were increased, and the serum albumin levels were decreased. Chest CT manifestations included patchy shadows, masses, obstructive atelectasis, cavities, pleural effusion, and hilar and mediastinal lymphadenopathy. The fibreoptic bronchoscopy findings included masses, polyps or nodules with mucosal oedema, hypertrophic bulges, lumen stenosis or obstruction, and purulent secretions. T. marneffei infection was confirmed in 10 patients by positive culture, in five by both culture and metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), in two by mNGS, in one by culture and pathology and in 1 by histopathology. BALF (15/19, 78.9%) had the highest culture positive rate, followed by sputum (3/19), bronchial mucosa (1/1), lung biopsy (1/2); 36.8% of the patients were coinfected with other pathogens. For induction therapy, 7, 6, 2, and 4 patients received voriconazole, amphotericin B, voriconazole combined with amphotericin B, and fluconazole therapy, respectively, and 26.3% received treatment combined with nebulization and/or administration of amphotericin B under fibreoptic bronchoscopy. Four patients were treated for underlying diseases or coinfection, 31.6% were cured, 42.1% improved, and 26.3% died.Conclusions T. marneffei infection is common in the tracheobronchial airway tissue or secretions, and bronchoscopy has important diagnostic and treatment value. Antifungal therapy, including systemic therapy, involves triazoles and amphotericin administration, and aerosol inhalation and administration of amphotericin B under bronchoscopy are important.

Spleen qi deficiency (SQD) is an important immune change in traditional Chinese medicine. Ginseng tonic for deficiency treatment focuses on qi tonicity, which is consistent with the modern medical view of immune enhancement. In this study, the therapy of wild ginseng (WG) extract was examined using weight measurement, histopathology, flow cytometry, and ELISA. Then, 16S rDNA gene sequencing of the gut microbiota and fecal RRLC-Q-TOF tandem mass spectrometry-based metabolomic analysis were carried out. Finally, the relationship among immunity indicators, permeability indicators, gut microbiota and metabolites was analyzed. Results showed that WG administration significantly increased the body weight and organ index in SQD rats; significantly reversed the levels of immune markers, such as IgA and TNF-a; decreased serum levels, such as LPS; and increased the expression of tight-junction proteins, such as ZO-1, in colonic tissues. The abundance of intestinal microorganisms, such as Lactobacillus and Akkermansia, was restored in SQD rats. Elevated amino acid content and decreased bile acid content were observed in fecal metabolites. Overall, this study demonstrated the central role of WG in immunomodulation and intestinal microecology in SQD rats, providing a reference for a more in-depth study of the scientific connotation of the traditional efficacy of WG and the interpretation of its clinical pharmacodynamic mechanism.

Sichuan hilly area is located in southwest China, which have many hilly area, is a densely populated, economically active, frequent geological disasters area. In this paper, Neijiang City in the region is taken as the test sample. This article, which analyzes Land-Use and Land-Cover Changes (LUCC), meteorological and hydrological data from 2015 to 2020, takes Neijiang City in this region as the research object. We explored the relationship between geological disasters such as collapse and landslides that often occur in the natural ecological environment with LUCC and meteorological and hydrological factors, using GIS spatial analysis and statistical analysis methods. The research results indicate that geological disasters mainly occur in farmland areas. The density of geological disaster points is highest within urban areas, making them the most prone to geological disasters. Geological disasters are more densely distributed in the area within 600 to 800 m from the river. There is a strong correlation between the average rainfall amount and the probability of geological disasters occurring. This study provides a scientific basis for the geological disaster risk assessment, prevention and control in this region. It has certain reference significance for the ecological environment governance, land resources planning and management in other similar regions.

Abstract Background Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is strongly correlated with an increased risk of asthma later in life. Farm dust protects mice from developing house dust mite-induced asthma, and loss of ubiquitin modifying enzyme A20 in lung epithelium would abolish this protective effect. However, the mechanisms of A20 in the development of asthma following IUGR remains unknown. Methods An IUGR rat model induced by maternal nutrient restriction was used for investigating the role of A20 in the response characteristics of IUGR rats to ovalbumin (OVA) challenge. The ubiquitination of proteins and N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modifications were used to further assess the potential mechanism of A20. Results IUGR can reduce the expression of A20 protein in lung tissue of newborn rats and continue until 10 weeks after birth. OVA challenging can increase the expression of A20 protein in lung tissue of IUGR rats, but its level was still significantly lower than the control OVA group. The differentially ubiquitinated proteins in lung tissues were also observed in IUGR and normal newborn rats. Furthermore, this ubiquitination phenomenon continued from the newborn to adulthood. In the detected RNA methylations, m6A abundance of the motif GGACA was the highest. The higher abundances of m6A modification of A20 mRNA from IUGR were negatively correlated with the trend of A20 protein levels. Conclusion These findings indicate A20 as a key regulator during the development of asthma following IUGR, providing further insight into the prevention of asthma induced by environmental factors.

Composite materials, valued in aerospace for their stiffness, strength and lightness, require impact monitoring for structural health, especially against low-velocity impacts. The MUSIC algorithm, known for efficient directional scanning and easy sensor deployment, is gaining prominence in this area. However, in practical engineering applications, the broadband characteristics of impact response signals and the time delay errors in array elements’ signal reception lead to inconsistencies between the steering vector and the actual signal subspace, affecting the precision of the MUSIC impact localization method. Furthermore, the anisotropy of composite materials results in time delay differences between array elements in different directions. If the MUSIC algorithm uses a fixed velocity value, this also introduces time delay errors, further reducing the accuracy of localization. Addressing these challenges, this paper proposes an innovative MUSIC algorithm for impact imaging using a guided Lamb wave array, with an emphasis on time delay management. This approach focuses on the extraction of high-energy, single-frequency components from impact response signals, ensuring accurate time delay measurement across array elements and enhancing noise resistance. It also calculates the average velocity of single-frequency components in varying directions for an initial impact angle estimation. This estimated angle then guides the selection of a specific single-frequency velocity, culminating in precise impact position localization. The experimental evaluation, employing equidistantly spaced array elements to capture impact response signals, assessed the effectiveness of the proposed method in accurately determining array time delays. Furthermore, impact localization tests on reinforced composite structures were conducted, with the results indicating high precision in pinpointing impact locations.

The mature phases of El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events exhibit a distinct tendency to peak towards the end of the calendar year, a phenomenon commonly referred to as ENSO phase locking. This phase locking is a fundamental property of the ENSO. The observed characteristics of phase locking are intricately tied to the seasonality of ENSO-related Sea Surface Temperature (SST) growth rate. In this study, notable observational evidence is presented: the strength of phase locking of El Niño weakened, and the phase locking advanced to peak at an earlier time during the period 2001 to 2022 compared to 1982 to 2000. The advancement of El Niño Phase Locking is explored by analyzing the contributions of different oceanic feedbacks to the El Niño phenomenon. Specifically, our findings highlight the significant role of nonlinear advective dynamic heating (NDH), which is influenced by the decrease in equatorial pacific surface zonal current anomaly and the equatorial pacific surface zonal gradient of sea SST anomaly. This investigation enhances our understanding of the evolving dynamics of El Niño phase locking, shedding light on the intricate interplay of oceanic feedbacks in influencing this fundamental aspect of ENSO behavior.

Abstract Oxidative stress had been linked to hypertensive renal impairment in previous investigations. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) was a clinically available oxidative stress biomarker. The association between SOD and the microalbuminuria in hypertensive patients has not been established. From January 2017 to December 2018, data on 690 patients with essential hypertension were collected retrospectively at Shandong Provincial Qianfoshan Hospital. Patients were divided into hypertension with microalbuminuria group (HM) and hypertension without microalbuminuria group (NHM). Clinical data from patients were collected and compared between the two groups. Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between UACR and SOD. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to screen for the risk factors for HM. Our research included 556 patients in the NHM group and 134 patients in the HM group. Abstract A novel endoglucanase (BcelFp) was identified from Fervidobaterium pennivorans DSM9078 which had biotransformation activity for protopanaxadiol (PPD)-type ginsenosides. Sequence analysis of BcelFp revealed that it could be classified into glycoside hydrolase family 5 (GH5). The gene encoding a 323-amino acid protein was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant enzyme was purified, and its molecular weight was approximate 37 kDa. The recombinant BcelFp exhibited an optimal activity at 95 oC and pH 5.5 and showed high thermostability. The endoglucanase had high selectivity for cleaving the outer glucose moiety at the C3 carbon of ginsenoside Rb1, Rb2, Rc and Rd, which produced stronger pharmacologically active gypenoside XVII (GypXVII), Compound O (CO), Compound Mc1 (CMc1) and F2, respectively. The Km values for Rb1, Rb2, Rc and Rd were 3.66 ± 0.04 µM, 4.02 ± 0.12 µM, 5.95 ± 0.03 µM, 0.67 ± 0.006 µM, respectively. The kcat/Km value of BcelFp for ginsenoside Rd was 27.91 mM-1s-1, which was much higher than that of the previously enzymes. This study was the first report of the highly efficient and selective transformation of GypXVII, CO, CMc1 and F2 from Rb1, Rb2, Rc and Rd by a GH5-family thermophilic endoglucanase.

Background: Recently, it was reported that the extent of cortico-cortical functional connections can be estimated by the correlation coefficient based on electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring. We aimed to investigate whether the EEG correlation coefficient change with motor task activation can predict the functional outcomes of hemiparetic stroke patients. Methods: Sixteen post-stroke hemiparetic patients admitted to our rehabilitation ward were studied. On admission, EEG recording to calculate the correlation coefficient was performed at rest and during motor task activation. For the analysis of the EEG data, the program software FOCUS (NIHON KOHDEN, Japan) was used. The motor function of paretic limbs was evaluated with the Fugl–Meyer Assessment (FMA) on admission and 4 weeks after admission. Results: Significant increases in the correlation coefficient with motor task activation were noted in C3-F3 or C4-F4, C3-F7 or C4-F8, and F3-F7 or F4-F8 of the lesional hemisphere. Among them, the rate of the correlation coefficient change in F3-F7 or F4-F8 in the lesional hemisphere was significantly correlated with the rate of the upper-limb FMA score change. Conclusion: The extent of the EEG correlation coefficient change with motor task activation in F3-F7 or F4-F8 of the lesional hemisphere may help predict the motor functional outcomes of hemiparetic upper limbs after stroke.

Abstract Background Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), investigated using routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained section slides (H&E-sTILs), provide a robust prognostic biomarker in various types of solid cancer. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the prognostic significance of H&E-sTILs in patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Methods The clinical data of patients with SCLC who had been treated in our cancer center between January 2013 and October 2019 were collected and retrospectively reviewed. The H&E-sTILs were re-assessed by two experienced pathologists independently. H&E-sTILs that affected the overall survival (OS), progression free survival (PFS) and brain-metastasis free survival (BMFS) rates were explored using the Kaplan–Meier method, and the log-rank test was used to assess the differences. Multivariate analysis was subsequently performed using the Cox proportion hazards model. Results A total of 159 patients with SCLC who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the current study. The OS rates at 1, 2 and 3 years were 59.8, 28.6 and 19.8%, respectively, for the whole group. The 3-year OS, PFS and BMFS rates for the H&E-sTILs(+) and H&E-sTILs(−) groups were 25.1% cf. 5.1% (P = 0.030), 14.0% cf. 4.0% (P = 0.013), and 66.0% cf. 11.4% (P = 0.023), respectively. Multivariate analyses subsequently revealed that H&E-sTILs, clinical M stage, the cycles of chemotherapy and short-term response to thoracic radiotherapy were independent factors affecting OS, whereas H&E-sTILs, clinical N stage, clinical M stage and short-term response to chemotherapy were factors affecting PFS. The H&E-sTILs affected OS, PFS and BMFS simultaneously. Conclusions The results of this retrospective study have shown that H&E-sTILs may be considered as a prognostic biomarker affecting the short-term response to treatment, and they are the one and only risk factor for BMFS. However, due to the limitations of the nature of the retrospective design and shortcomings in visually assessing the TILs based on the H&E-stained slides, further prospective studies are required to confirm these conclusions.

With the increasing prominence of the global carbon emission problem, the accurate prediction of carbon emissions has become an increasingly urgent need. Existing carbon emission prediction methods have the problems of slow calculation speed, inaccurate prediction, and insufficient deep mining of influencing factors when dealing with large-scale data. In this study, a comprehensive carbon emission prediction method is proposed. Firstly, multiple influencing factors including economic factors and demographic factors are considered, and a pathway analysis method is introduced to mine the long-term relationship between these factors and carbon emissions. Then, indirect influence terms are added to the multiple regression equation, and the variable is used to represent the indirect influence relationship. Finally, this study proposes the PCA-PA-MBGD method, which applies the results of principal component analysis to the pathway analysis. By reducing the data dimensions and extracting the main influencing factors, and optimizing the carbon emission prediction model by using a mini-batch stochastic gradient descent algorithm, the results show that this method can process a large amount of data quickly and efficiently, and realize an accurate prediction of carbon emissions. This provides strong support for solving the carbon emission problem and offers new ideas and methods for future related research.

In this paper, an adaptive technology and the interconnection and damping assignment passivity-based control method are combined to solve the stabilization problem for underactuated mechanical systems with uncertainties (including matched and unmatched). These uncertainties include unknown friction coefficients and unknown terms in kinetic energy and potential energy. A novel adaptive interconnection and damping assignment passivity-based control scheme is proposed and an adaptive stabilization controller is designed to make the closed-loop system locally stable. Verification is conducted on the ball and beam system. The locally asymptotic stability is demonstrated using the LaSalle’s invariance principle and approximate linearization. The effectiveness of the proposed control law is verified through numerical simulations.

The ground surface deformation induced by shield tunnels passing through enclosure structures of existing tunnels is a particular underground construction scenario that has been encountered in Wuhan Metro Line 12 engineering cases in China. Timely ground deformation prediction is important to keep shield tunneling safe. However, the classic ground deformation theory is difficult to accurately predict for this ground deformation. This paper develops a semi-analytical method to predict ground heave considering the space effect in this engineering condition. Based on the improved ground deformation theory, a novel deformation prediction method for the ground and enclosure structure is derived and combined with Kirchhoff plate theory. Comparing with field deformation measurements, the maximum difference between the measured and calculated deformation is 14.6%, which demonstrates that the proposed method can be used to predict the ground heave induced by shield tunnels passing through the enclosure structure of existing tunnels. The parameters of the underground diaphragm wall used in Wuhan Metro Line 12 are further studied in detail. The results show that the ground heaves have a positive correlation with the embedded ratio of the diaphragm wall, but a negative correlation with its elastic modulus and thickness. However, the thickness and embedded ratio have a limited effect on ground heaves. This study provides a technical reference for optimizing the setting of enclosure structures in order to protect existing buildings.

Abstract Mobile edge computing (MEC) is considered to be a promising technique to enhance the computation capability and reduce the energy consumption of smart mobile devices (SMDs) in the sixth-generation (6G) networks. With the huge increase of SMDs, many applications of SMDs can be interrupted due to the limited energy supply. Combining MEC and energy harvesting (EH) can help solve this issue, where computation-intensive tasks can be offloaded to edge servers and the SMDs can also be charged during the offloading. In this work, we aim to minimize the total energy consumption subject to the service latency requirement by jointly optimizing the task offloading ratio and resource allocation (including time switching (TS) factor, uplink transmission power of SMDs, downlink transmission power of eNodeB, computation resources of SMDs and MEC server). Compared with the previous studies, the task uplink transmission time, MEC computation time and the computation results downloading time are all considered in this problem. Since the problem is non-convex, we first reformulate it, and then decompose it into two subproblems, i.e., joint uplink and downlink transmission time optimization subproblem (JUDTT-OP) and joint task offloading ratio and TS factor optimization subproblem (JTORTSF-OP). By solving the two subproblems, a joint task offloading and resource allocation with EH (JTORAEH) algorithm is proposed to solve the considered problem. Simulation results show that compared with other benchmark methods, the proposed JTORAEH algorithm can achieve a better performance in terms of the total energy consumption.

Aim: The effects of tirofiban combined with nicorandil on effective reperfusion, and the levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4) and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic coronary total occlusion (CTO) were investigated. Method: From January 1, 2017, to June 31, 2019, a total of 40 patients with CTO receiving PCI in Shandong Qianfoshan Hospital were randomly divided into a control group (treated with single tirofiban) and a cocktail group (treated with nicorandil combined with tirofiban). Effective reperfusion was compared between groups. In addition, differences in coronary serum IL-4 and sICAM-1 levels before and 10 min after the operation were compared between groups, and the incidence rates of adverse reactions were observed. Finally, patient follow-up occurred at 1 month and 6 months, and the total incidence rates of adverse cardiac events in both groups were assessed. Results: The levels of IL-4 and sICAM-1 in the cocktail group significantly decreased after the operation (P0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of patients with CTO undergoing PCI with nicorandil and tirofiban alleviated the inflammatory response, improved the SAQ scores, and decreased the occurrence of angina pectoris in patients. Moreover, this treatment is safe and reliable, and has important clinical significance.

Abstract Low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication networks require huge load capacity and information processing speed to carry global communication traffic. Inter-satellite links and the on-board processing are the key technologies to achieve this goal, but the new network architecture leads to great challenges on satellite routing. This paper designs a hybrid inter-satellite link with the same-orbit laser and the different-orbit microwave to increase the link capacity and adopts a CPU centralized scheduling to improve the utilization of computing resources. Then, this paper establishes minimum delay function by considering the inter-satellite transmission delay and the on-board processing delay. The transmission delay model bases on the orbital period, and the processing delay adopts the multi-services model, the limited-capacity single-service model, and the unlimited-capacity single-service model in the queuing theory to model the on-board CPU centralized scheduling, photoelectric converters, and electro-optical converters, respectively. Based on this model, this paper proposes an inter-satellite routing strategy with modified Q-routing algorithm. The modified algorithm uses Dijkstra algorithm to accelerate the convergence of Q-routing algorithm and retains the strong real-time performance of Q-routing algorithm. Simulations show that the delay of the modified algorithm is 83.3 $$\%$$ % lower than that of the Dijkstra algorithm, and the larger the network and the traffic, the more obvious the advantage.

Pesticides are the most effective way to control diseases, insects, weeds, and fungi. The central nervous system (CNS) is damaged by pesticide residues in various ways. By consulting relevant databases, the systemic relationships between the possible mechanisms of pesticides damage to the CNS causing cognitive impairment and related learning and memory pathways networks, as well as the structure–activity relationships between some natural substances (such as polyphenols and vitamins) and the improvement were summarized in this article. The mechanisms of cognitive impairment caused by pesticides are closely related. For example, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neuroinflammation can constitute three feedback loops that interact and restrict each other. The mechanisms of neurotransmitter abnormalities and intestinal dysfunction also play an important role. The connection between pathways is complex. NMDAR, PI3K/Akt, MAPK, Keap1/Nrf2/ARE, and NF-κB pathways can be connected into a pathway network by targets such as Ras, Akt, and IKK. The reasons for the improvement of natural substances are related to their specific structure, such as polyphenols with different hydroxyl groups. This review’s purpose is to lay a foundation for exploring and developing more natural substances that can effectively improve the cognitive impairment caused by pesticides.

The rapid increase in the number of cars has caused many problems, such as “cruising for parking” and “illegal parking”. In this study, we conducted several on-street parking surveys in Beijing’s business districts. A parking location choice model and decision rules for the cruising process are established. A multi-agent based on-street parking simulation was constructed to explore the effects of time-varying parking prices on parking demand. It is concluded that demand-driven dynamic parking pricing can effectively regulate the distribution of parking demand and ensure the utilization of parking facilities within the desirable range in business districts. A lower desirable range and higher price change for the price adjustment can cause larger fluctuations in parking demand, fewer time intervals within the desirable range, and more price adjustment times. A higher desirable range and higher price change can result in longer cruising and driving times, and lower driving speeds. Considering the effectiveness and operating costs of the pricing schemes, it is recommended that the suitable range for parking occupancy rate is 60%–80% and the price change is 2 Yuan/h. The price adjustment threshold can be set based on the scale of the regional road network. The proposed dynamic parking pricing strategy can balance the distribution of the parking demand and reduce parking and traffic problems. The research conclusions can also provide a reference for the formulation of dynamic parking pricing strategies.

The low-carbon retrofitting of industrial heritage communities is an important issue for reducing urban carbon emissions. Previous research on the judgment of heritage elements and carbon emission factors of industrial heritage communities lacked the construction of elements within the space, and the value judgment of conservation and the determination of low-carbon factors lacked a systematic network analysis. Carbon spatial networks as a systematic approach can systematically harmonize the contradictions between “conservation–transformation–low carbon” while considering the spatial and temporal carbon emissions of nodes. This research uses hierarchical analysis to analyze the value of heritage elements and locate them in space, then combine the elements that affect carbon activities in space to form carbon space nodes integrated with heritage conservation elements, and analyze the links between nodes to form a carbon space network. Then, this research uses a carbon spatial network to dissect the structure of carbon emissions, calculate the carbon activity at nodes, and reflect it into a parameterized platform to guide designers. After that, this research selected 16 industrial heritage communities in the severe cold region for the carbon activity measurement of carbon spatial network node elements in the operation stage and conducted a correlation analysis to obtain a correlation matrix model of node elements and carbon activities. Within the constraints of heritage element protection, the results show that the volume ratio, green area ratio, and building density of the carbon spatial network model have the greatest influence on its carbon performance, followed by porosity and road density. Through case simulation verification, the floor area ratio of industrial heritage communities should be controlled between 2.1–2.5, the number of residential building floors should be 7–14, the road network density should be 4.16–4.50%, the green space ratio should be 20–35%, and the porosity should be 35–45%. Taking the three major power road communities in Harbin as an example, retrofit measures were decided by reference to relevant parameter control intervals, resulting in a 21.1% reduction in energy consumption, an approximate 32.7% reduction in carbon emissions, and a 7.3% reduction in the annual percentage of hours in extreme hot and cold environments.

The escalation of the urban population and energy demands has exacerbated the carbon emission intensity at the operational stage of urban old communities. The spatial elements of the built environments comprising building groups, roads and landscape, and the spatial morphology of these elements, are endowed not only with human activities but also impact local microclimates and overall carbon emissions. Nonetheless, little attention has been paid to the correlation mechanism between the spatial morphology of the urban built environments and carbon emissions. In this paper, the aim is to combine carbon emissions simulation and statistical analysis to find the correlation between the spatial morphological indices and carbon emissions and to bridge the gaps. Thus, guided by the principles of urban energy modeling, this research adopts a parametric process of “information model construction–carbon emission simulation–statistical analysis”. First, taking 60 typical samples of an old community in Jinan, China, as objects, morphological indices such as density, texture and layout are analyzed through regression analysis to highlight their impacts on carbon emissions. Then, a carbon emission prediction model based on spatial morphological indices is established and verified. The results show that the floor area ratio (FAR), building coverage ratio (BCR), enclosure degree (ED), shape factor (SF) and average road aspect ratio (AS) have significant impacts on carbon emissions during the operational stage. Among these indices, the FAR and the ED are identified as the pivotal influencers. The findings confirm the important role of spatial morphological design of old communities in cold regions in improving urban carbon reduction potential, and they provide theoretical underpinnings and empirical data as references for urban morphology design formulated within the context of low-carbon objectives.

Distributed generators (DGs) have a high penetration rate in distribution networks (DNs). Understanding their impact on a DN is essential for achieving optimal power flow (OPF). Various DG models, such as stochastic and forecasting models, have been established and are used for OPF. While conventional OPF aims to minimize operational costs or power loss, the “Dual-Carbon” target has led to the inclusion of carbon emission reduction objectives. Additionally, state-of-the-art optimization techniques such as machine learning (ML) are being employed for OPF. However, most current research focuses on optimization methods rather than the problem formulation of the OPF. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the OPF problem and to propose potential solutions. By delving into the problem formulation and different optimization techniques, selecting appropriate solutions for real-world OPF problems becomes easier. Furthermore, this paper provides a comprehensive overview of prospective advancements and conducts a comparative analysis of the diverse methodologies employed in the field of optimal power flow (OPF). While mathematical methods provide accurate solutions, their complexity may pose challenges. On the other hand, heuristic algorithms exhibit robustness but may not ensure global optimality. Additionally, machine learning techniques exhibit proficiency in processing extensive datasets, yet they necessitate substantial data and may have limited interpretability. Finally, this paper concludes by presenting prospects for future research directions in OPF, including expanding upon the uncertain nature of DGs, the integration of power markets, and distributed optimization. The main objective of this review is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of DGs in DN on OPF. The article aims to explore the problem formulation of OPF and to propose potential solutions. By gaining in-depth insight into the problem formulation and different optimization techniques, optimal and sustainable power flow in a distribution network can be achieved, leading to a more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective power system. This offers tremendous benefits to both researchers and practitioners seeking to optimize power system operations.

Abstract Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) has a high morbidity and mortality. Current studies have confirmed a variety of microRNA polymorphisms were associated with tumor susceptibility, however, the mechanisms are still unknown. In this study, we were aimed to clarify how polymorphism rs2682818 participated in the progression of CRC. First of all, the differential expression of miR-618 was assessed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction in CRC patients with different genotypes of polymorphism rs2682818, including homozygous (TT) genotype, homozygous (GG) genotype and heterozygous (TG) genotype. Secondly, plasmids carried miR-168 precursor sequences harboring rs2682818 (SNP type) or without rs2682818 (wild type) were transfected into 293T cells to verify that polymorphism rs2682818 affected miR-618 expression. Thirdly, CCK-8 assay, flow cytometry assay, transwell assay and mouse xenograft assay were performed to measure the biological functions of miR-618 in CRC. Fourthly, the candidate target genes of miR-618 which were predicted by bioinformatics tools were verified by luciferase reporter assay. Finally, in order to explain the potential molecular mechanisms, western blotting was performed to demonstrate the differential expression and phosphorylation of pathway related proteins. The results showed that miR-618 was down-regulated in colon cancer, especially in CRC patients with rs2682818 GG homozygous genotype. Higher expression of mature miR-618 occurred in patients with TT homozygous genotype, and these patients usually had a longer survival time. Moreover, miR-618 mimic obviously impaired the growth and invasion ability of CRC cells, and miR-618 mimic also remarkably promoted CRC cell apoptosis. Our luciferase experiments confirmed that TIMP1 was a target of miR-618 in CRC cells. Knockdown of TIMP1 also significantly inhibited the malignant cytological features of CRC, including malignant growth and invasion as well as apoptosis resistance. In summary, polymorphism rs2682818 participated in the progression of CRC via affecting the expression of mature miR-618 in CRC cells, and miR-618 inhibited the progression of CRC via targeting TIMP1expression.

This paper proposes a Tension Cable-Membrane Concentrator with an ultra-lightweight, practical and low cost alternative construction which is used in the optical-electrical conversion system. The relationship between the varied count triangular facets of the membrane surface and the focal spot radius are studied. Based on Monte Carol ray-tracing method, the optical performances of the concentrator, such as the concentrate ratio, flux distributions and focal spot radiuses etc., are analyzed in different geometry design parameters. Further, a 15 m aperture Tension Cable-Membrane Concentrator is designed, and the form-finding design is studied and verified by ANSYS®. The optical performance comparisons with the original and pre-stressed shape of the reflective film are discussed. Simulation results exhibit that the surface density of the proposed Tension Cable-Membrane Concentrator is only 5% of that of traditional rigid concentrator. It takes on the ultra-lightweight and low-cost that excite designers. The optical performance comparisons show that the peak flux distribution after form-finding over a 0.25 m receiver approximately deliver up to 800 kW/m2 corresponding to the peak concentrate ratio exceeds 1000 suns which are even better than the traditional steel design and completely satisfy design requirements.

The RNA methylation regulator m7G plays a vital role in forming malignancies. However, its contribution to lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) has not been fully elucidated. TCGA dataset was used to assess the gene expression data of 594 individuals with LUAD by evaluating the 28 key RNA methylation regulators of m7G. The abnormalities in the m7G regulators from the genome were related to the prognosis of LUAD patients. The expression of 12 m7G regulators increased in the LUAD samples, including DCPS, EIF4E, EIF4EIB, EIF4E2, GEMIN5, LARP1, LSM1, METTL1, NCBP2, NSUN2, NUDT4B, and WDR4. CYFIP1, DCPS, EIF4E3, METTL1, and WDR4, which were all related to a poor LUAD prognosis. In this study, we found for the first time that a ginseng fermentation solution (GFS) suppressed LUAD by regulating the DCPS gene. The GFS is a promising target in LUAD and an indicator for cancer immunotherapy through modulation of the m7G regulator.

Vaginal adhesions and stenosis are infrequent long-term sequelae following pediatric pelvic fractures. Patients may not present with signs and symptoms before menarche, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment. We report an adolescent girl who presented with a post-abdominal trauma pelvic fracture and urethrovaginal fistula and subsequent severe vaginal adhesion, which resulted in infection and obstructive symptoms after menarche. Hysteroscopy-guided vaginal adhesion release using an epidural catheter and ultrasonography was performed, followed by vaginal dilation, to resolve obstructive symptoms. For girls with pelvic fractures, education on possible long-term sequelae is required, as is regular follow-up. Timely diagnosis and treatment are important, and hysteroscopic release of vaginal adhesion and postoperative regular vaginal dilation may be an effective treatment.

Objective To assess the effect of pretreatment body mass index (BMI) and the extent of change in BMI (ΔBMI) during the treatment course on the treatment outcomes in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) receiving volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT). Methods Data pertaining to 498 consecutive NPC patients with stage I–IVA disease who received VMAT between January 2010 and November 2011 at a single center were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate Kaplan-Meier and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to evaluate the prognostic significance of pretreatment BMI and ΔBMI. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the optimal cut-off point of ΔBMI. Results The 5-year loco-regional failure-free (L-FFR), distant failure-free survival (D-FFR), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) rates were 90.6%, 83.7%, 71.5% and 79.3%, respectively. The 5-year L-FFR, D-FFR, DFS, OS rates for NPC patients with ΔBMI ≤1 kg/m 2 vs ΔBMI >1 kg/m 2 were 92.3% vs 89.3% ( P = .137), 90.9% vs 78.5% ( P < .001), 80.4% vs 65.1% ( P < .001), and 88.0% vs 73.0% ( P < .001), respectively. ΔBMI >1 kg/m 2 was an independent predictor of D-FFR ( P = .002), DFS ( P = .002), and OS ( P = .001). Conclusions ΔBMI during treatment course may have a significant impact on the prognosis of NPC patients receiving VMAT.

This study investigated the mechanism of characteristic non-volatile organic compounds (NVOCs) from ginseng Huang jiu (GH) in the treatment of alcoholic liver disease through UPLC-Q-Orbitrap-HRMS and network pharmacological analyses. Changes in NVOC contents in ginseng Huang jiu and ginseng-soaked wine fermented by different processing technologies were analyzed through liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS). A total of 96 ginsenosides were identified in ginseng Huang jiu throughout the fermentation process, which included 37 protopanaxadiol-type ginsenosides, 47 protopanaxatriol-type ginsenosides, and 4 oleanolic acid-type ginsenosides. Orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) revealed that 20(R)-Rg2, Gypenoside XVII, 20(S)-Rf3, CK, Rg5, Rh2, and other rare ginsenosides in ginseng Huang jiu could be the potential index for determining ginseng Huang jiu. In addition, ginseng Huang jiu could improve alcoholic liver disease by regulating the GSTP1, HRAS, AKR1B1, GSTA1, Androgen receptor (AR), GSR, and LDHB genes through bioinformatics analysis. This study provides new insights into improving the industrial production of ginseng Huang jiu and treating alcoholic liver disease with medicinal and food products.
