Abstract Background Cervical cancer, ranking as the fourth most common gynecological cancer worldwide, claimed an estimated 570,000 lives and resulted in 311,000 new cases in 2018. This disease disproportionately affects those living in poverty and is more prevalent in countries with weak healthcare systems. Low and middle-income nations, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, face higher incidence and mortality rates due to limited access to vaccines, screening, and treatment. The world health organization recommends regular screening for women from age 25, setting a 90-70-90 target for low- and middle-income countries by 2030. Despite limited previous knowledge, the study aims to assess the pooled prevalence of cervical cancer screening practices and associated factors among female healthcare professionals in Ethiopia in 2024. Objective The study aimed to synthesize the existing literature on cervical cancer screening practice and associated factors among female health workers in Ethiopia. Methods Studies were searched through the search engine of Google Scholar, PubMed, and Cochrane Library. Searching was made using Keywords/ MeSH terms Cervical cancer; utilization; Preventive practice. Heterogeneity was assessed using the Cochran Q test and I2 statistics. A random-effects model with a 95% confidence interval was used for the pooled prevalence and odds ratio estimations. Result Seven studies were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. The overall pooled prevalence of cervical cancer screening practice among female health workers in Ethiopia was 18%. Work place(OR = 2.858;95% CI: 0.412, 5.305),knowledge(OR = 3.457; 95% CI: 2.314, 4.601), work experience(OR = 5.421; 95% CI:4.178,6.664),being diagnosed(OR = 10.787; 95% CI: 06.197,15.377) and ever cared of cervical cancer patient (OR = 2.93; 95% CI: 2.004, 3.856) were the pooled associated factors that are significantly associated with cervical cancer screening practice among female health care worker. Conclusion The implementation of preventive measures for cervical cancer screening was found to be suboptimal. Our findings underscore the importance of enhancing awareness among this demographic, which is crucial in mobilizing local communities. It is imperative to provide continuous education to female health workers regarding cervical cancer. The Ministry of Health should collaborate with various organizations to ensure the accessibility of cost-effective screening services in all healthcare facilities.

While the pandemic adversely affected healthcare workers (HCWs) regardless of gender, recent studies suggest that female front-line HCWs experienced substantially more deleterious effects of the pandemic compared to their male counterparts, with higher rates of burnout and psychiatric illness. As a result, turnover and decreased productivity have increased disproportionately among female HCWs, which has substantial economic consequences for the healthcare organizations that employ them. Specific interventions that decrease distress, one form of which is burnout, among female HCWs can reduce turnover and increase productivity. In order to support the wellbeing and retention of female front-line HCWs, we propose an action plan to mitigate work- and home-related stressors among women in the intensive care unit. ObjectiveTo investigate the willingness to pay (WTP) for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine and its influencing factors among Chinese female health care workers for improving HPV vaccination strategies in China. MethodsAn online survey was conducted among 18 – 45 years old female health care workers from 310 hospitals in 31 provincial level administrative divisions across China during November – December 2021. A self-designed questionnaire was used to collect information on demographics, HPV vaccination status, HPV-related knowledge, protective motivation theory (PMT)-based HPV vaccination-related cognition and attitude, and the amount of WTP for HPV vaccination. Structural equation model was adopted to analyze influencing factors of WTP. ResultsOf the 15 969 valid respondents aged 30.6 ± 6.2 years, 43.4%, 33.2%, and 23.4% reported the highest amount (CNY) of WTP for HPV vaccine ranging 0 – 1 600, 1 601 – 3 200, and 3 201 – 5 000, respectively; higher amount of WTP was reported by the respondents aged 18 – 26 years, being Han ethnic, unmarried/divorced/widowed, having the education of master degree or above, without professional title, with a monthly income more than 8 000 CNY, working in a tertiary hospital, and already receiving HPV vaccination or having an appointment for the vaccination. The scores for multidimensional PMT-based cognition and attitude about HPV vaccination were significantly correlated with HPV vaccine acceptance and the WTP for HPV vaccine (P < 0.001 for all). The structural equation model analysis showed that perceived susceptibility (β = 0.046), perceived severity (β = 0.012), response efficacy (β = 0.027), self-efficacy (β = 0.155), HPV-related knowledge (β = 0.151) and vaccination behavior (β = 0.154) were positively associated with the WTP for HPV vaccination; whereas response cost was negatively associated with the WTP for HPV vaccination (β = – 0.183). ConclusionChinese female health care workers have a relatively higher WTP for HPV vaccination. Price of HPV vaccine, convenience of vaccination/ appointment services, and safety of vaccines remain the main influencing factors of the WTP.

Moreover, the median WTP out-of-pocket was 1250 CNY (540-2000 CNY). It was significantly higher for vaccines partly covered by governmental subsidy (median, 1250 CNY; interquartile range, 560-2000 CNY), imported vaccines (1260 CNY; 630-1960 CNY), and 9-valent vaccines (1400 CNY; 750-2240 CNY) (each P < 0.001). Additionally, majority of respondents did not change their attitude towards HPV vaccination between two payment scenarios; those remaining with more expensive HPV vaccines (51.1%) had higher WTP out-of-pocket (1400 CNY; 560-2250 CNY) than those with cheaper vaccines (39.0%) (1120 CNY; 490-1960 CNY) (P < 0.001).Conclusion: Chinese female health care workers have high WTP for HPV vaccines. Context: Ovarian cancer is responsible for more deaths per year than all other gynaecological cancers combined, and its overall mortality is high because of late presentation. Aims: To evaluate the predictors of knowledge of the symptoms and the risk factors of ovarian cancer among female healthcare providers in Enugu, Nigeria. Settings and Design: Cross-sectional survey conducted at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu from June to August 2018. Subjects and Methods: A self-administered, structured questionnaire on symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer was given to 422 randomly selected female healthcare providers working at UNTH. Statistical Analysis: Data were analysed using SPSS version 22.0 for Windows (Chicago, IL, USA). Predictors of knowledge level were determined using logistic regression. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Mean age of the respondents was 39.22 ± 7.89 years. Background Musculoskeletal complaints are considered a major cause of sickness absence, particularly in areas such as the health sector. However, little is known about the personal decision-making process for self-certified sickness absence. Aims To explore female health care workers' thoughts and experiences about work attendance when experiencing musculoskeletal symptoms. Methods A qualitative study using individual, semi-structured, in-depth interviews with eight female health care workers was performed. Questions were related to factors influencing the decision to attend work and decision-making when facing the dilemma of attending work when experiencing musculoskeletal symptoms. The data were analysed according to the systematic text condensation. Results Subjects reported a high threshold before calling in sick. Self-certified sickness absence was not a strategy for coping with musculoskeletal symptoms as participants chose to be physically active and work part-time rather than taking sickness absence. Making decisions about attending work fostered conflicting norms, as women faced a dilemma between feeling guilt towards colleagues and patients and taking care of their own health. Conclusions The findings highlight the complexity of managing work when experiencing musculoskeletal symptoms, and the dilemmas faced by those affected. The importance of work environment factors and the fact that some women feel compelled to work part-time in order to prioritize their own health require further consideration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Breast and cervical cancer in women all over the world is an important cause of death due to cancer. Early diagnosis increases treatment success and life expectancy. In this study, health professionals playing a key role in raising the awareness of society on the issue of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior have been investigated. Methods: Two hundred female health workers were included in the study. The research ethics committee of our hospital between January 2013-March 2013 approval was based. Seventeen questions in the questionnaire regarding demographic data, breast self-examination (BSE), mammography, breast ultrasonography (USG), smear test, hepatitis vaccine, the HPV vaccine, blood count, blood chemistry, and the incidence of hepatitis markers were used. Results: The age of the participants was between 20 to 62 with a mean of 36.46±9.54 years: 58.5% (n=117) nurses, 14% (n=28) specialist doctors, 16% (n=32) resident doctors, and 11.5% (n=23) as working servants [79.5% (n=159) university, 16% (n=32) high school, 4.5% (n=9) primary school graduates]. Also, 144 (72%) of the participants were married, and 12% of the participants (n=24) had a family history of cervical or breast cancer. Thirteen (6.5%) people stated that menopause. BSE and 21% of the respondents, 56% of mammograms and/or breast ultrasound, 56.5% stated that they did not smear at all. Of the participants, 72% (n=144) had knowledge about the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine, and 6.5% of them had the HPV vaccine. Complete blood count and blood chemistry tests in the past year had a very high rate. This rate was 84% for complete blood count (n=168) and 87% (n=174) for blood biochemistry. Hepatitis markers is 80.5% of those who received in the past year (n=161). Furthermore, 95.5% had the hepatitis vaccine. Conclusion: Among female health workers, complete blood count, blood chemistry tests, and hepatitis markers are considered to be absolutely necessary, but they do not show the same sensitivity about cancer screening tests. The restrictive side of our study is the low average age for starting breast cancer screening. However, it is remarkable that more than half of the participants had never had a smear test, which is recommended starting at age of 21 and should be done yearly. In this study, cervical cancer screening, especially in terms of the attitudes of health care workers, was found to be insufficient on its own care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
