Abstract Objective This Study aims to investigate the risk factors of hypoglycemia in neonates through meta-analysis. Method PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, and Web of science databases were searched for case-control studies on risk factors for neonatal hypoglycemia. The search was done up to 1st October 2023 and Stata 15.0 was used for data analysis. Results A total of 12 published studies were included, including 991 neonates in the hypoglycemic group and 4388 neonates in the non-hypoglycemic group. Meta-analysis results suggested caesarean section [OR = 1.90 95%CI (1.23, 2.92)], small gestational age[OR = 2.88, 95%CI (1.59, 5.20)], gestational diabetes [OR = 1.65, 95%CI (1.11, 2.46)], gestational hypertension[OR = 2,79, 95%CI (1.78, 4.35)] and respiratory distress syndrome[OR = 5.33, 95%CI (2.22, 12.84)] were risk factors for neonatal hypoglycemia. Conclusion Based on the current study, we found that caesarean section, small gestational age, gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, respiratory distress syndrome are risk factors for neonatal hypoglycemia. Abstract In recent years, microbial inoculants have showed a great potential to replace chemical fertilizers as a new generation of soil amendment agents, however, the understanding of their effects on nutrient cycling within plants and rhizosphere microbial diversity are still limited. In this study, the rhizosphere growth-promoting bacteria MQB12 was used to inoculate Vigna radiata to evaluate the effects of external inoculants on plant transcriptomics and rhizosphere soil microbial diversity. Enrichment analysis using GO and KEGG revealed significant enrichment in DNA-binding transcription factor activity, transcriptional regulatory factor activity, and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis among the differentially expressed genes. MQB12 inoculation positively responded to phosphorus starvation response, increased the expression of phosphorus starvation response genes (PHT/PAP), enhanced the synthesis of ethylene and salicylic acid to cope with external stress, and improved the expression of plant disease resistance genes to strengthen the disease resistance of plants to pathogens. At the same time, microbial diversity analysis further revealed the positive effect of MQB12 inoculum. MQB12 inoculum enriched beneficial flora, improved flora abundance, changed the structure and diversity of V. radiata rhizosphere microbial community, enhanced the interconnections between the flora, and positively promoted growth. MQB12 was found to adjust the microflora of the rhizosphere, which subsequently changed the environment for plant colonization. This change led to the enrichment of beneficial bacteria and removal of pathogenic bacteria, which positively affected the internal pathways of plants. Additionally, changes in gene expression levels of plants resulted in the formation of different phenotypes and various metabolites, further influencing the formation of rhizosphere microbial communities through close contact between roots and soil. This study provides new insights into the effects of microbial agents on plant growth and root environment construction and is conducive to the further development and application of microbial agents. IntroductionThe trend of human migration to terrestrial high altitudes (HA) has been increasing over the years. However, no published prospective studies exist with follow-up periods exceeding 1 month to investigate the cardiac change. This prospective study aimed to investigate the changes in cardiac structure and function in healthy young male lowlanders following long-term migration to HA.MethodsA total of 122 Chinese healthy young males were divided into 2 groups: those migrating to altitudes between 3600 m and 4000 m (low HA group, n = 65) and those migrating to altitudes between 4000 m and 4700 m (high HA group, n = 57). Traditional echocardiographic parameters were measured at sea level, 1 month and 1 year after migration to HA.ResultsAll 4 cardiac chamber dimensions, areas, and volumes decreased after both 1 month and 1 year of HA exposure. This reduction was more pronounced in the high HA group than in the low HA group. Bi-ventricular diastolic function decreased after 1 month of HA exposure, while systolic function decreased after 1 year. Notably, these functional changes were not significantly influenced by altitude differences. Dilation of the pulmonary artery and a progressive increase in pulmonary artery systolic pressure were observed with both increasing exposure time and altitude. Additionally, a decreased diameter of the inferior vena cava and reduced bicuspid and tricuspid blood flow velocity indicated reduced blood flow following migration to the HA.Discussion1 year of migration to HA is associated with decreased blood volume and enhanced hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction. These factors contribute to reduced cardiac chamber size and slight declines in bi-ventricular function.

Rhizosphere microorganisms are important for maintaining soil and plant health and promoting plant growth and development. Screening rhizosphere growth-promoting bacteria with unique habitats, high activity and multiple functions is conducive to exploring the potential stress resistance of growth-promoting bacteria, and further improving the applicability of microbial fertilizers in agricultural production in response to the development concept of green agriculture. The aim of this study was to investigate the physiological activity of the culturable core growth-promoting bacteria of Dicranopteris dichotoma and verify their growth-promoting effect on mung bean (Vigna radiata) growth. A total of 41 bacterial strains were isolated in this study; 21 strains had more than one physiological activity, among which the highest siderophores units (SU) were 97.1%, and the highest IAA yield was 134.46 mg/L. According to morphology and 16S rRNA, three strains of Bacillus sp. and one strain of Pantoea sp. were screened, all of which were predicted to have the functions of phosphorous solubilization, cellulase production, IAA production and siderophores production. In a pot experiment, these four strains were inoculated in the rhizosphere soil every 7 days for a total of 4 times, and the aerial and underground biomass, plant height, root length and leaf number of V. radiata plants increased significantly 30 days after the last inoculation. The strains isolated in this study have excellent plant growth promoting (PGP) properties and were expected to be used as a new biological inoculant in practical production.

Objective Retinal degeneration (RD) is a group of serious blinding eye diseases characterized by photoreceptor cell apoptosis and progressive degeneration of retinal neurons. However, the underlying mechanism of its pathogenesis remains unclear. Methods In this study, retinal tissues from sodium iodate (NaIO 3 )-induced RD and control rats were collected for transcriptome analysis using RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq). Analysis of white blood cell-related parameters was conducted in patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and age-related cataract (ARC) patients. Results In total, 334 mRNAs, 77 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and 20 other RNA types were identified as differentially expressed in the retinas of NaIO 3 -induced RD rats. Gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses showed that differentially expressed mRNAs were mainly enriched in signaling pathways related to immune inflammation. Moreover, we found that the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio was significantly higher in RP patients than in ARC patients. Conclusion Overall, this study suggests that multiple chemokines participating in systemic inflammation may contribute to RD pathogenesis.

AIM: To investigate the causal gene mutation and clinical characteristics for two Chinese families with autosomal dominant congenital coralliform cataract. METHODS: Two Chinese pedigrees with congenital cataract were investigated. Routine ophthalmic examinations were performed on all patients and non-affected family members. Peripheral blood samples were collected, and the genomic DNAs were extracted. The coding regions of proband's DNAs were analyzed with cataract gene panel. The identified mutation was amplified by polymerase chain reaction, and automated sequencing was performed in other members of two families to verify whether the mutated gene was co-segregated with the disease. RESULTS: Congenital coralliform cataract was inherited in an autosomal dominant mode in both pedigrees. For each family, more than half of the family members were affected. All patients presented with severe visual impairment after birth as a result of bilateral symmetric coralliform lens opacification. An exact the same defect in the same gene, a heterozygous mutation of c.70C>A (p. P24T) in exon 2 of γD-crystallin gene, was detected in both probands from each family. Sanger sequencing analysis demonstrated that the mutated CRYGD was co-segregated in these two families. CONCLUSION: A c.70C>A (p. P24T) variant in CRYGD gene was reconfirmed to be the causal gene in two Chinese pedigrees. It is known that mutated CRYGD caused most of the congenital coralliform cataracts, suggesting that the CRYGD gene is associated with coralliform congenital cataract.

Abstract Multi‐source cooperative positioning systems relying on federated filtering have become attractive development directions of navigation strategy in real‐time localization and tracking under challenging urban environment. However, local Kalman filters of traditional federated filtering may result in divergence when the system model or the measurements is inaccurate, and the fixed information distribution coefficient in federated filter cannot adaptively reflect the performance of each local filter. To improve the precision and robustness of the integrated navigation system, a novel adaptive federated strong tracking Kalman filter with dynamic fading factor mechanism for multi‐sensor information fusion is proposed. Through iterative computation of the fading factor and updating the adaptive weight coefficients, strong tracking filter becomes robust to the uncertainty of system model. Meanwhile, an effective adaptive information distribution estimation algorithm based on the predicted residuals is constructed to balance the contributions of the kinematic model information and measurements on the state estimates. To ensure the stability of filtering, a simplified fusion strategy is established to solve the singular problem of the global covariance matrix of estimation error. Theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach in improving the accuracy and robustness of the integrated navigation and positioning systems. The proposed integrated multi‐modal cooperative navigation and positioning algorithm will be of great significance to the implementation of real‐time mobile target localization and tracking in harsh environment or dead zone.

In the study of solar greenhouses, microclimate, soil, and back walls have an important influence on the greenhouse thermal environment because of their good heat storage and release characteristics. The transpiration of crops makes indoor humidity increase sharply, which is the main factor affecting indoor humidity distribution. Therefore, it is of great significance to grasp the microclimate change law of solar greenhouses and study the coupling effect of thermal and humidity environment. In this paper, based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), a three-dimensional model of the thermal and humidity environment of a solar greenhouse is established, and the indoor temperature and humidity distribution under the influence of soil, crops, and back walls are considered. The CFD model initialization uses binary fitting functions to fit the temperature distribution of soil, back wall, and air. The distribution law of the temperature field and relative humidity field of the solar greenhouse under three different working conditions is simulated, that is, the insulation is uncovered and the ventilation window is closed during the day (G1), the insulation is uncovered and the ventilation window is opened during the day (G2), and the insulation is put down and the ventilation window is closed at night. (G3). The results show that the simulation results are in good agreement with the actual results under the three working conditions, and this paper can provide a reference for the improvement of the greenhouse structure and environmental regulation.

In building change detection task, factors such as phenological changes, illumination changes, and registration errors will cause unchanged areas in remote sensing images to have obvious differences in pixels, which will lead to pseudochanges in results. Existing methods focus on the change information of multi-temporal remote sensing images, ignoring the exploration of pseudochange problems. Therefore, feature–output space dual-alignment (FODA) method is proposed to reduce the negative effect of the pseudochange problem by paying attention to the relationship between unchanged areas of multitemporal images. On the one hand, FODA narrows the distance between the features of the unchanged areas in the feature space, increasing its feature extraction ability of pseudo-changed areas. On the other hand, given the spatial context of image scene implicit in the output space, the ability to recognize pseudochanges of the FODA is improved through an adversarial learning procedure. Due to its simplicity and effectiveness, FODA achieves 88.73% and 82.75% F1 scores on the LEVIR-CD dataset and WHU-CD dataset respectively. Compared with state-of-the-art methods, FODA can effectively reduce the problem of pseudo-changes and significantly improve the effect of change detection even only based on a simple backbone model.

Glaucoma is a lifelong disease with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) as the main risk factor, and reduction of IOP remains the major treatment for this disease. However, current IOP-lowering therapies are far from being satisfactory. We have demonstrated that the lentivirus-mediated exoenzyme C3 transferase (C3) expression in rat and monkey eyes induced relatively long-term IOP reduction. We now show that intracameral injection of self-complementary AAV2 containing a C3 gene into mouse and monkey eyes resulted in morphological changes in trabecular meshwork and IOP reduction. The vector-transduced corneal endothelium and the C3 transgene expression, not vector itself, induced corneal edema as a result of actin-associated endothelial barrier disruption. There was a positive (quadratic) correlation between measured IOP and grade of corneal edema. This is the first report of using an AAV to transduce the trabecular meshwork of monkeys with a gene capable of altering cellular structure and physiology, indicating a potential gene therapy for glaucoma.

Based on the typhoon best tracks of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), ERA5 reanalysis data of ECMWF at 0.25 degrees horizontal resolution, and NOAA optimal interpolated sea surface temperature (OISST V2) data, the dynamical compositing analysis is used to study the north turning at nearly 90 degrees of 4 westward typhoons over the South China Sea (SCS). The composite analysis results show that: (1) As the typhoon goes westward into the SCS, the upper-level westerly trough moves eastward to the vicinity of 110°E in the mainland of China, and the western North Pacific subtropical high (SH) retreats eastward at the same time, which weakens the steering flow of typhoon and slowes down its movement. (2) The cold air guided by the westerly trough invades southwardly into the western part of SCS from the mainland leading to a descending and divergent airflow in the lower-to-middle atmospheric layers and enhancing the eastward pressure gradient force (PGF) in the west quadrant of the typhoon, which blocks and repesl the typhoon from moving any further westward. (3) Due to the cold air intrusion, the vertical atmospheric stratification in the west quadrant of the typhoon becomes static and stable, which may suppress the convection, impeding a typhoon’s westward motion. (4) With the cold air involving to the south of the typhoon, the direction of the PGF on the typhoon switches from eastward to northward, and the SH falling southward enhances the southwesterly airflow on the south of the typhoon at the same time. The remarkable increase of the northward steering airflows of the typhoon results in an abrupt northward turn. (5) In addition, the sea surface temperature (SST) and the ocean heat content (OHC) on the western part of the SCS is also reduced, attributed to the cold air cooling, and the typhoon is likely to avoid the cold ocean and approach a relatively warmer region. This study suggests that cold avoidance during the westward movement of typhoons is worthy of consideration in the operational forecast of typhoon tracks.

Multi-sensor integrated positioning technique that combines complementary features of the global positioning system (GPS) and inertial navigation system (INS) for navigation in challenging urban environments has been a hot research area. A variety of algorithms have been proposed over the past two decades for this well-studied field. However, with the increasing demands of seamless positioning, traditional GPS/INS integrated technique faces rigorous challenges, especially in GPS-denied environment, where traditional techniques cannot be applied directly. To improve the precision and robustness of the navigation system, a novel hybrid GPS/INS/Doppler velocity log (DVL) positioning method is proposed, which introduces DVL as the reference information to assist the GPS module to correct the divergence error of INS. A new robust adaptive federated strong tracking Kalman filter (RAFSTKF) algorithm is also presented for data fusion, which has the advantage of robustness with respect to the uncertainty of the system model. Meanwhile, we introduce the least square principle and adaptively adjust information sharing factors to obtain the optimal estimation, which can improve the reliability of the overall system. The theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid GPS/INS/DVL positioning method based on RAFSTKF. In addition, the tracking performance of the proposed method outperforms that of traditional federated Kalman filter.

Intelligent transportation systems have been very well received by car companies, people, and governments around the world. The main challenge in the world of smart and self-driving cars is to identify obstacles, especially pedestrians, and take action to prevent collisions with them. Many studies in this field have been done by various researchers, but there are still many errors in the accurate detection of pedestrians in self-made cars made by different car companies, so in the research in this study, we focused on the use of deep learning techniques to identify pedestrians for the development of intelligent transportation systems and self-driving cars and pedestrian identification in smart cities, and then some of the most common deep learning techniques used by various researchers were reviewed. Finally, in this research, the challenges in each field are discovered, which can be very useful for students who are looking for an idea to do their dissertations and research in the field of smart transportation and smart cities.

AIM: To investigate the clinical significance of serum CMKLR1 level in patients with diabetic retinopathy.METHODS: A total of 140 patients with type 2 diabetes(T2DM)treated in our hospital were selected from February 2015 to March 2018, including 45 patients with type 2 diabetes(T2DM group)and 95 patients with DR(54 patients with NPDR and 41 patients with PDR). And 40 healthy volunteers were collected. Clinical data was collected and serum levels of CMKLR1 were detected.RESULTS: The duration of diabetes in patients with PDR was longer than that in the patients with NPDR and NDR, and the patients with NPDR was longer than the patients with NDR(all PPPr=0.374, 0.248 and 0.304; all POR=1.594 and 1.830, all PCONCLUSION: The serum level of CMKLR1 in patients with DR was increase, and related to the progression of the disease. It was an important risk factor affecting the occurrence and progression of DR.

The lack of pixel-level labeling limits the practicality of deep learning-based building semantic segmentation. Weakly supervised semantic segmentation based on image-level labeling results in incomplete object regions and missing boundary information. This paper proposes a weakly supervised semantic segmentation method for building detection. The proposed method takes the image-level label as supervision information in a classification network that combines superpixel pooling and multi-scale feature fusion structures. The main advantage of the proposed strategy is its ability to improve the intactness and boundary accuracy of a detected building. Our method achieves impressive results on two 2D semantic labeling datasets, which outperform some competing weakly supervised methods and are close to the result of the fully supervised method.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:The intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering and side effects in response to different prostaglandin F2α analogues can be variable, but, the underlying basis for this difference remains unknown. This study investigated the differential changes of cellular proteins relevant to IOP-lowering effects of latanoprost and bimatoprost. METHODS:The human T lymphoblast (MOLT-3) cell line and immortalized human trabecular meshwork (iHTM) cells were studied by quantitative PCR and by immunofluorescence after treatment with either latanoprost or bimatoprost. New Zealand white rabbit eyes were treated topically with each agent and, following euthanasia, anterior segment tissues were studied with immunostaining. RESULTS:In cultured MOLT-3 cells, mRNA expression of both c-fos and matrix metalloproteinase 9 increased significantly in response to each agent. In addition, there was little change in tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP)-3 mRNA, but a significant decrease in TIMP-4. Fibronectin mRNA in MOLT-3 cells was down-regulated with bimatoprost, but was up-regulated with latanoprost. Immunofluorescence analysis of iHTM cells showed that intracellular fibronectin was significantly decreased by bimatoprost, but was increased by latanoprost. Both latanoprost and bimatoprost increased mRNA expression of NF-кB p65 and decreased that of IкBα. Aquaporin-1 mRNA expression was significantly down-regulated by bimatoprost. Immunostaining also revealed a significant decrease of aquaporin-1 in the ciliary epithelium of New Zealand white rabbits after bimatoprost treatment. CONCLUSIONS:Similarities in protein expression produced by latanoprost and bimatoprost in vitro may be relevant to the mechanism for their IOP-lowering effects in vivo. Differences in fibronectin expression and in aquaporin-1 expression in response to each agent may contribute to variability in the IOP-lowering efficacy in some studies.

Discovery and development of new antitumor agents from abundant marine fish are attracting an increasing interest. In the present study, we extracted and purified a novel antitumor protein Syngnathusin from the whole body of Syngnathus acus L., a precious marine fish traditionally used for tumors. Syngnathusin was comprised of 16 kinds of amino acids, mainly acidic amino acids. Its molecular weight was 67.3 kDa and its isoelectric point was 4.57. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of Syngnathusin was determined to be Lys-Arg-Asp-Leu-Gly-Phe-Val-Asp-Glu-Ile-Ser-Ala-His-Tyr and showed no significant homology with the known proteins. Syngnathusin could significantly inhibit the growth of A549 and CCRF-CEM cells. However, the obvious proliferation inhibition against human non-tumor cell lines was not observed. Flow cytometry, morphologic assessment and comet assay revealed that Syngnathusin could induce apoptosis in A549 and CCRF-CEM cells and strongly cooperated with MTX. Syngnathusin could inhibit the growth of S180 tumor transplanted in mice. Syngnathusin may be developed as a novel, selective and effective antineoplastic agent.

BACKGROUND:Lifestyle behaviors have been widely reported to influence the survival of patients with head and neck cancer. However, the relationship between pretreatment lifestyle behaviors and survival among patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is unclear. METHODS:A prospective cohort study was designed to determine the relationship between lifestyle behaviors and survival in 1,533 NPC patients recruited from October 2005 to October 2007. Pretreatment lifestyle behaviors (such as body-mass index [BMI], smoking, alcohol, diet) of the patients were investigated. Univariate and multivariate proportional-hazards models were used to assess the impact of lifestyle behaviors on patient survival. RESULTS:Smoking was a predictor of survival; both current smokers (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.88; 95% CI, 1.33 to 2.65) and heavy smokers (≥ 25 Pack-years; HR = 1.84; 95% CI, 1.30 to 2.60) showed associations with poor survival. Higher BMI was significantly associated with a lower risk of death (P(trend) = 0.002). Compared with under/normal-weight patients (BMI less than 22.99 kg/m(2)), the multivariate HR for survival was 0.66 (95% CI, 0.48 to 0.90) and 0.47 (95% CI, 0.23 to 0.97) for overweight and obese patients, respectively. No alcohol intake and high fruit intake were associated with favorable survival in the univariate analysis but lost significance in the multivariate model. CONCLUSION:Our findings indicate that pretreatment lifestyle behaviors, especially smoking status and BMI, as easily available data, provide prognostic value for survival in NPC patients.

The building parameters of Chinese solar greenhouse (CSG) directly affect the front roof lighting and indoor thermal environment. In order to obtain the optimal parameter combination, a building parameter optimization method based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation and entropy weight method was proposed. Firstly, a three-dimensional thermal and humidity environment model of CSG was constructed considering the coupling effect of soil, crop, and back wall based on CFD. The reliability of the model was validated through experiments in a CSG of Yongqing County, Hebei Province of China. Then, the indoor air temperature rise rate, air temperature and humidity uneven coefficient, and average air temperature and humidity were selected as the evaluation indicators of CSG thermal and humidity environment. The ridge height, back wall height and the horizontal projection of back roof of CSG were selected as the three factors of the orthogonal test plan, and a three-factor and four-level plan was designed, resulting in 16 different parameter combinations. By use of CFD simulation, the thermal and humidity environment evaluation indicators under different parameter combinations were calculated. The entropy weight method was used to assign weights to the evaluation indicators, and the comprehensive evaluation indicators of CSG thermal and humidity environment were obtained based on the linear weighting principle. By comparing comprehensive evaluation indicators, the optimal combination of building parameters was obtained with a ridge height of 5.72 m, a back wall height of 3.2 m, and a horizontal projection of 2.1 m on the back roof. The research results can provide a practical and feasible method for optimizing the building parameters of CSG, and provided theoretical guidance for the structural design and optimization of CSG.
