BackgroundFangcang shelter hospitals are quarantine facilities offering primary medical treatment for mild and asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 cases. Little is known about the age-specific prevalence of insomnia among patients in Fangcang shelter hospitals, particularly in older age groups.MethodsThis cross-sectional study was conducted in the three largest Fangcang shelter hospitals during the lockdown period, from March to May 2022, in Shanghai. The patients’ demographic and medical information was recorded. Insomnia was defined according to the prescriptions for zolpidem and estazolam. The overall and age-specific prevalence and the risk factors of insomnia were investigated through regression models.ResultsA total of 2,39,448 patients were included in this study (59.09% of the patients were male, the median age was 42, and 73.41% of the patients were asymptomatic), with the prevalence of insomnia being 3.1%. Granite, a principal component of continental crust, emerges at the Earth's surface through crustal movements, creating diverse landforms. The Queshi region, comparable to Huangshan in its granite hilly landscape, stands as a representative granite landform in China, yet its origin remains incompletely studied. This investigation utilizes surface landscape and cave analyses to elucidate the characteristics and determining factors of granite landforms in the Queshi region, to comprehend the formation mechanisms of these unique landforms. In the surface investigation, field surveys and aerial photography, employing a DJI Phantom 4 RTK drone, were utilized to measure the morphology and dimensions of exposed rock egg sizes on cliff faces and joint spacing. The survey results facilitated an overall classification of surficial landscapes, encompassing the proportion of rock egg sizes on the mountain and the spacing between the vertical and horizontal joints. To assess mountain development concerning stone eggs, cave orientation and elevation were determined using a rangefinder and GPS measurements, while different contact relationships between stone eggs were investigated. By amalgamating domestic and international granite development theories with field investigation results, this study delves into the geological structure of the surrounding areas, the characteristics of granite landforms, and the factors governing the landform formation of granite geomorphology in the Queshi area. The findings indicate that 1) rocks in the Queshi scenic area have evolved into various rock eggs through subsequent weathering processes, manifesting as grotesque formations resembling humans, genies, or animals, and 2) granite mountain bodies in the Queshi region can be categorized into three types: rock egg mountains, peak forest mountains, and steamed bun mountains. Stone egg mountains exhibit a unique form with round, large stone eggs stacked atop each other, peak forest mountains comprise elongated rock eggs or blocks due to narrowly spaced vertical joints, while steamed bun mountains lack obvious joints and fractures, presenting gently rounded mountain shapes. Furthermore, 3) granite caves in the Queshi scenic area are classified into four categories based on different formation processes: core stone caves, collapsed caves/rock egg caves, fissure caves, and niches. Core stone caves form when weathered material in the gaps between stone cores is carried away by flowing water without causing any movement of the core stones. Fissure caves, relatively rare and small in scale in the Queshi scenic area, are formed along large fractures created by bedrock breaks. Niches are concave grooves formed at the base of rock bodies or rock eggs, buried by rock debris or soil, storing more rainwater than bare rock surfaces and enhancing chemical weathering. After external runoff removed the debris, the rock base became exposed and formed concave grooves. Finally, 4) the weathering crusts of the Queshi region formed before the subsidence of the Rongjiang fault, during which the Queshi Mountains experienced relative uplift. Consequently, the weathering crusts continued to weather, forming the present granite landforms. Weathering occurs through the rock joints of the parent rock of the weathered crusts, with the degree of damage to the rock determined by joint density. The greater the joint density, the more extensive the damage; conversely, the smaller the joint density, the less the damage. Therefore, mountain morphological differences in the Queshi region are primarily caused by variations in joint spacing rather than climate or rock-type influences.

Abstract. Background:. Cerebrovascular disease (CVD) ranks among the foremost factors responsible for mortality on a global scale. The mortality patterns of CVDs and temporal trends in China need to be well-illustrated and updated. Methods:. We collected mortality data on patients with CVD from Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Disease Surveillance Points (CDC-DSP) system. The mortality of CVD in 2020 was described by age, sex, residence, and region. The temporal trend from 2013 to 2019 was evaluated using joinpoint regression, and estimated rates of decline were extrapolated until 2030 using time series models. Results:. In 2019, the age-standardized mortality in China (ASMRC) per 100,000 individuals was 113.2. The ASMRC for males (137.7/105) and rural areas (123.0/105) were both higher when stratified by gender and urban/rural residence. The central region had the highest mortality (126.5/105), the western region had a slightly lower mortality (123.5/105), and the eastern region had the lowest mortality (97.3/105). The age-specific mortality showed an accelerated upward trend from aged 55–59 years, with maximum mortality observed in individuals over 85 years of age. The age-standardized mortality of CVD decreased by 2.43% (95% confidence interval, 1.02–3.81%) annually from 2013 to 2019. Notably, the age-specific mortality of CVD increased from 2013 to 2019 for the age group of over 85 years. In 2020, both the absolute number of CVD cases and the crude mortality of CVD have increased compared to their values in 2019. The estimated total deaths due to CVD were estimated to reach 2.3 million in 2025 and 2.4 million in 2030. Conclusion:. The heightened focus on the burden of CVD among males, rural areas, the central and western of China, and individuals aged 75 years and above has emerged as a pivotal determinant in further decreasing mortalities, consequently presenting novel challenges to strategies for disease prevention and control.

This study aimed to investigate the disparities between metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) and conventional culture results in patients with bronchiectasis. Additionally, we sought to investigate the correlation between the clinical characteristics of patients and their microbiome profiles. The overarching goal was to enhance the effective management and treatment of bronchiectasis patients, providing a theoretical foundation for healthcare professionals. A retrospective survey was conducted on 67 bronchiectasis patients admitted to The First Hospital of Jiaxing from October 2019 to March 2023. Clinical baseline information, inflammatory indicators, and pathogen detection reports, including mNGS, conventional blood culture, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) culture, and sputum culture results, were collected. By comparing the results of mNGS and conventional culture, the differences in pathogen detection rate and pathogen types were explored, and the diagnostic performance of mNGS compared to conventional culture was evaluated. Based on the various pathogens detected by mNGS, the association between clinical characteristics of bronchiectasis patients and mNGS microbiota results was analyzed. The number and types of pathogens detected by mNGS were significantly larger than those detected by conventional culture. The diagnostic efficacy of mNGS was significantly superior to conventional culture for all types of pathogens, particularly in viral detection (p < 0.01). Regarding pathogen detection rate, the bacteria with the highest detection rate were Pseudomonas aeruginosa (17/58) and Haemophilus influenzae (11/58); the fungus with the highest detection rate was Aspergillus fumigatus (10/21), and the virus with the highest detection rate was human herpes virus 4 (4/11). Differences were observed between the positive and negative groups for P. aeruginosa in terms of common scoring systems for bronchiectasis and whether the main symptom of bronchiectasis manifested as thick sputum (p < 0.05). Significant distinctions were also noted between the positive and negative groups for A. fumigatus regarding Reiff score, neutrophil percentage, bronchiectasis etiology, and alterations in treatment plans following mNGS results reporting (p < 0.05). Notably, 70% of patients with positive A. fumigatus infection opted to change their treatment plans. The correlation study between clinical characteristics of bronchiectasis patients and mNGS microbiological results revealed that bacteria, such as P. aeruginosa, and fungi, such as A. fumigatus, were associated with specific clinical features of patients. This underscored the significance of mNGS in guiding personalized treatment approaches. mNGS could identify multiple pathogens in different types of bronchiectasis samples and was a rapid and effective diagnostic tool for pathogen identification. Its use was recommended for diagnosing the causes of infections in bronchiectasis patients.

The global demand for clean hydrogen energy is constantly increasing. However, the methane steam reforming process cannot satisfy the future social demand for clean hydrogen energy due to its high emission, while the development of water electrolysis technology via renewable energy is limited due to the high cost and the low efficiency. In response to the above issues, an electrified LNG steam reforming hydrogen production system was proposed by introducing the renewable electric heating into the methane steam reforming process, which efficiently integrates the carbon capture technology and the LNG cold energy recovery system. Meanwhile, a model of the electrified LNG steam reforming hydrogen production system was established, and its thermodynamic performance was analyzed. On this basis, investigation was conducted on the influence of the reforming temperature, water-to-carbon ratio and other key parameters on the exergy efficiency and electrical efficiency of the system. The research shows that the exergy efficiency and electrical efficiency of the novel hydrogen production system are as high as 83.2% and 89.5% respectively, and the electrical efficiency is 12.3% higher than the mainstream water electrolysis hydrogen production system. Generally, the novel hydrogen production system could achieve an efficient and clean hydrogen energy supply, providing a new idea and solution to achieve hydrogen production by renewable electricity.

All-fiber coherent beam combiners based on the self-imaging effect can achieve a near-perfect single laser beam, which can provide a promising way to overcome the power limitation of a single-fiber laser. One of the key points is combining efficiency, which is determined by various mismatches during fabrication. A theoretical model has been built, and the mismatch error is analyzed numerically for the first time. The mismatch errors have been numerically studied with the beam quality and combining efficiency being chosen as the evaluation criteria. The tolerance of each mismatch error for causing 1% loss is calculated to guide the design of the beam combiners. The simulation results are consistent with the experimental results, which show that the mismatch error of the square-core fiber is the main cause of the efficiency loss. The results can provide useful guidance for the fabrication of all-fiber coherent beam combiners.

Thermal barrier coating (TBC) materials are an important method to provide thermal protection and prolong service life for aero-engines and gas turbines. In recent years, various kinds of high-entropy (HE) rare earth oxides have emerged in the exploration of novel thermal barrier coating materials, in order to obtain thermal, mechanical, high temperature phase stability, sintering corrosion resistance and other properties better than single principal rare earth oxides through HE effect on the thermodynamics and kinetics of hysteresis diffusion effect, the structure of the lattice distortion effect and "cocktail" effect on the performance. The thermal, mechanical and other performances of HE rare-earth zirconates, cerates, hafnates, phosphates, tantalates, niobates, etc. were summarized and analyzed in comparison with the performance of the corresponding single phases to investigate the various factors affecting the performance. Finally, it was pointed out that in the future, it may be possible to combine experiments with first-principles calculations to select high-entropy ceramic thermal barrier coating materials with superior comprehensive performance; at the same time, extending high-entropy to complex components or medium-entropy ceramic thermal barrier coating materials is also an important development direction.

Fission product yields are fundamental nuclear data for nuclear energy applications and nuclear physics research. In this work, HPGe γ spectrometric technique is applied to absolutely measure the mass distributions from 0.57, 1.0 MeV and 1.5 MeV neutron induced fission of 235U, and more than 30 mass chain yields are obtained for each energy. The fission rate of uranium sample is monitored by a double fission chamber and its neutron spectrum is simulated via MCNP program. Comparing with the existing data of other lab, our results are in good agreement within the experimental uncertainties. The output data obtained in this work clarifies the difference of up to 16% in the original data and improves the data accuracy from 5%-7% of the original international data to 3%-5%.

Angiopoietin-1 (ANG1) is a pro-angiogenic regulator that contributes to the progression of solid tumors by stimulating the proliferation, migration and tube formation of vascular endothelial cells, as well as the renewal and stability of blood vessels. However, the functions and mechanisms of ANG1 in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) are unclear. The clinical sample database shows that a higher level of ANG1 in TNBC is associated with poor prognosis compared to non-TNBC. In addition, knockdown of ANG1 inhibits TNBC cell proliferation and induces cell cycle G1 phase arrest and apoptosis. Overexpression of ANG1 promotes tumor growth in nude mice. Mechanistically, ANG1 promotes TNBC by upregulating carboxypeptidase A4 (CPA4) expression. Overall, the ANG1-CPA4 axis can be a therapeutic target for TNBC.

Taxus cuspidata S. et Z. is a precious species of frigid zone plant belonging to the Taxaceae family, which possesses anticancer, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, and antibacterial pharmacological properties. While taxane extracted from Taxus chinensis has been reported to elicit antioxidant activities, whether Taxus cuspidata S. et Z. has skin-protective actions against injuries remained unknown. This study aims to explore the pharmacological effects of three Taxus extracts on skin melanin deposition, oxidation, inflammation, and allergy so as to provide new ideas for the prevention and treatment of various diseases related to skin damage.

Objective: To observe the effects of Grifola frondosa polysaccharides (GFP) on proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, expression of cyclin and apoptotic proteins of human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells, and to explore the mechanism of its inhibition on proliferation of HepG2 cells. Methods: The experiment was divided into control group and PGF group. Different concentrations of PGF solution were used to interfere with human hepatocellular carcinoma cells HepG2 in vitro. MTT assay was used to detect the effects of different concentrations of PGF on the survival of HepG2 cells. The apoptosis rate and cell cycle distribution of HepG2 cells induced by PGF were detected by flow cytometry. The expressions of Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase3, Cyclin-A1 and Cyclin-B1 were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results: Compared with the control group, PGF could effectively inhibit the proliferation of human hepatoma HepG2 in a concentration-dependent manner. Cell cycle detection showed that the proportion of S phase in each group was 24.71%, 28.78%, 36.26 and 42.39%, respectively, indicating that cells were blocked in S phase. The immunocytochemical results showed that the expression of Cyclin A1 protein decreased significantly, and the expression of cyclin-B1 was not significantly different before and after treatment. Flow cytometry showed that the apoptosis rates in control group and PGF group were 0, 18.0%, 30.5% and 49.5%, respectively. The difference between PGF group and control group was significant. Immunocytochemical results showed that PGF could significantly inhibit the expression of mitochondrial apoptosis inhibitor Bcl-2, increase the expression of pro-apoptotic factor Bax in a concentration-dependent manner, and up-regulate the percentage of Bcl-2/Bax to induce apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Conclusion: PGF can inhibit the proliferation of human hepatoma HepG2 cells by inducing apoptosis, inhibiting cell cycle arrest and expression of related cyclin and apoptotic proteins.

A catastrophic earthquake (magnitude Mw 7.2) occurred on 14 August 2021 in Haiti. Sea surface temperature (SST) and sea potential temperature (SPT) observed from satellites show pronounced changes prior to the main earthquake event. The changes are observed near the epicenter and the boundary of the Caribbean Plate. Here we have carried out a detailed analysis of ocean, atmosphere and land surface parameters (sea water salinity, chlorophyll-a, latent energy flux, sensible heat flux, specific humidity, air temperature, methane and land surface temperature) using multiple satellite data to understand the possible mechanism of sea temperature changes. The strong coupling among these geophysical and geochemical parameters has been found within 2-week prior to the 2021 Haiti Mw 7.2 earthquake due to the interaction between ocean/land and atmosphere during the last phase of earthquake preparation period caused by the tectonic movement. The spatiotemporal distribution pattern of anomalies is discussed in view of the focal mechanism of the earthquake event.

In this paper, the finite-time trajectory tracking control problem of a flexible link manipulator (FLM) system with unknown parameters is investigated in joint space. An adaptive nonsingular terminal sliding mode (ANTSM) controller based on an extended state observer (ESO) is proposed to ensure that the tracking error converges to a small neighborhood of zero. Firstly, an adaptive ESO is introduced, which is used to estimate unknown system parameters, including the unknown rigid-flexible coupling coefficient and the unknown control gain. Then, an ESO based on the parameters estimated above is proposed to estimate the unmodeled dynamics and external disturbances of the system in real-time. Finally, an ANTSM controller based on ESO is studied to achieve finite-time trajectory tracking control and vibration suppression without any prior knowledge of system uncertainties and external disturbances. The finite-time convergence ability of the closed-loop system is proved by Lyapunov theory. Experimental results on the Quanser Flexible Link System verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

BackgroundEndocrine therapy-related symptoms are associated with early discontinuation and quality of life among breast cancer survivors. Although previous studies have examined these symptoms and clinical covariates, little is known about the interactions among different symptoms and correlates. This study aimed to explore the complex relationship of endocrine therapy-related symptoms and to identify the core symptoms among breast cancer patients.MethodsThis is a secondary data analysis conducted based on a multicenter cross-sectional study of 613 breast cancer patients in China. All participants completed the 19-item Chinese version of the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Endocrine Subscale (FACT-ES). Multivariate linear regression analysis was performed to identify significant factors. A contemporaneous network with 15 frequently occurring symptoms was constructed after controlling for age, payment, use of aromatase inhibitors, and history of surgery. Network comparison tests were used to assess differences in network structure across demographic and treatment characteristics.ResultsAll 613 participants were female, with an average age of 49 years (SD = 9.4). The average duration of endocrine therapy was 3.6 years (SD = 2.3) and the average symptom score was 18.99 (SD = 11.43). Irritability (n = 512, 83.52%) and mood swings (n = 498, 81.24%) were the most prevalent symptoms. Lost interest in sex (mean = 1.95, SD = 1.39) and joint pain (mean = 1.57, SD = 1.18) were the most severe symptoms. The edges in the clusters of emotional symptoms (“irritability-mood swings”), vasomotor symptoms (“hot flashes-cold sweats-night sweats”), vaginal symptoms (“vaginal discharge-vaginal itching”), sexual symptoms (“pain or discomfort with intercourse-lost interest in sex-vaginal dryness”), and neurological symptoms (“headaches-dizziness”) were the thickest in the network. There were no significant differences in network structure (P = 0.088), and global strength (P = 0.330) across treatment types (selective estrogen receptor modulators vs. aromatase inhibitors). Based on an evaluation of the centrality indices, irritability and mood swings appeared to be structurally important nodes after adjusting for the clinical covariates and after performing subgroup comparisons.ConclusionEndocrine therapy-related symptoms are frequently reported issues among breast cancer patients. Our findings demonstrated that developing targeted interventions focused on emotional symptoms may relieve the overall symptom burden for breast cancer patients during endocrine therapy.

BackgroundAcute pancreatitis (AP) is the most common gastrointestinal disease requiring hospital admission. AP patients are categorized as mild, moderately severe, and severe AP (SAP). For SAP patients, malnutrition increases susceptibility to infection and mortality. The Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS 2002), the Nutrition Risk in Critically Ill (NUTRIC) score and modified Nutrition Risk in Critically Ill (mNUTRIC) are nutritional risk screening tools of critically ill patients and have not been validated in patients with SAP. It is essential to evaluate the prognostic performance of these nutritional risk screening tools.Materials and methodsA retrospective study was designed to validate the NRS 2002, NUTRIC, and mNUTRIC when applied to SAP patients. Receiver operating characteristic curves were plotted to investigate the predictive ability of clinical outcomes by comparing areas under the curve (AUC). Appropriate cut-offs were calculated by using Youden’s index. Patients were identified as being at high nutritional risk according to the calculated cut-off values. The effects of different scoring systems on mortalities were calculated using the Cox proportional hazards model. Logistic regression was used to assess the association between the energy provision and 28-day mortality.ResultsFrom January 2013 to December 2019, 234 SAP patients were included and analyzed. Patients categorized as high nutritional risk by the NRS 2002 (12.6% versus 1.9% for 28-day and 20.5% versus 3.7% for 90-day), NUTRIC (16.2% versus 0.0% for 28-day and 27.0% versus 0.0% for 90-day), and mNUTRIC (16.4% versus 0.0% for 28-day and 26.4% versus 0.8% for 90-day) had significant higher mortality than those categorized as low nutritional risk. The NUTRIC (AUC: 0.861 for 28-day mortality and 0.871 for 90-day mortality, both cut-off value ≥3) and mNUTRIC (AUC: 0.838 for 28-day and 0.828 for 90-day mortality, both cut-off value ≥3) showed better predictive ability of the 28- and 90-day mortality than the NRS 2002 (AUC: 0.706 for 28-day mortality and 0.695 for 90-day mortality, both cut-off value ≥5).ConclusionThe NRS 2002, NUTRIC, and mNUTRIC scores were predictors for the 28- and 90-day mortalities. The NUTRIC and mNUTRIC showed better predictive ability compared with the NRS 2002 when applied to SAP patients.

BackgroundsThe widespread coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak impacted the mental health of infected patients admitted to Fangcang shelter hospital a large-scale, temporary structure converted from existing public venues to isolate patients with mild or moderate symptoms of COVID-19 infection.ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the risk factors of the infected patients from a new pharmacological perspective based on psychiatric drug consumption rather than questionnaires for the first time.MethodsWe summarised the medical information and analysed the prevalence proportion, characteristics, and the related risk factors of omicron variants infected patients in the Fangcang Shelter Hospital of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from 9 April 2022 to 31 May 2022.ResultsIn this study, 6,218 individuals at 3.57% of all admitted patients in the Fangcang shelter were collected suffering from mental health problems in severe conditions including schizophrenia, depression, insomnia, and anxiety who needed psychiatric drug intervention. In the group, 97.44% experienced their first prescription of psychiatric drugs and had no diagnosed historical psychiatric diseases. Further analysis indicated that female sex, no vaccination, older age, longer hospitalization time, and more comorbidities were independent risk factors for the drug-intervened patients.ConclusionThis is the first study to analyse the mental health problems of omicron variants infected patients hospitalised in Fangcang shelter hospitals. The research demonstrated the necessity of potential mental and psychological service development in Fangcang shelters during the COVID-19 pandemic and other public emergency responses.

High power coherent beam combination (CBC) with non-equal splitting ratio beam splitters (BS) is studied. A BS-based two-channel CBC laser system has been built, and experiments with 50:50 BS and 30:70 BS has been carried. It shows that, when the inject laser power are the same, the combining efficiency decreases obviously as the ratio of the BS increases. The perfect combining efficiency can be resumed by adjusting the power ratio to be the same as the splitting ratio of the BS. A theoretical model has been established to further analyze the effect of the BS ratio quantitatively. For the condition of two equal inject power, the deviation of splitting ratio should be less than 9% to maintain 1% allowance for combining loss. The work can provide useful guidance for high power BS-based CBC laser sources.

Multiparameter observed from satellite, including microwave brightness temperature, skin temperature, air temperature, and carbon monoxide, have been analyzed to identify the anomalous signals associated with the M 7.3 Iran earthquake of November 12, 2017. Besides removing the multiyear variability of parameters as background, the effect of surface and atmosphere of a dust storm event in Middle East region during October 29–November 1 is considered to distinguish the possible anomalies associated with the earthquake. The characteristic behaviors of surface and atmospheric parameters clearly show the signals associated with the M 7.3 earthquake and the dust storm event. The multiple parameters at different pressure levels provide clear evidence to identify the anomalous signals associated with an earthquake, which could help us to minimize the false alarms. Our results show the atmospheric disturbances caused by other natural hazard events could mask the thermal anomalies induced by tectonic activities, which cannot be ignored when detecting the abnormal surface and atmospheric signals associated with earthquake activities.

Abstract Background Central sensitization is considered a critical pathogenic mechanism of chronic migraine (CM). Activation of microglia in the trigeminal nucleus caudalis (TNC) contributes to this progression. Microglial glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) activation can alleviate pain; however, whether it is involved in the mechanism of CM has not been determined. Thus, this study aims to investigate the precise role of GLP-1R in the central sensitization of CM. Methods Repeated nitroglycerin injection-treated mice were used as a CM animal model in the experiment. To identify the distribution and cell localization of GLP-1R in the TNC, we performed immunofluorescence staining. Changes in the expression of GLP-1R, Iba-1, PI3K and p-Akt in the TNC were examined by western blotting. To confirm the effect of GLP-1R and PI3K/Akt in CM, a GLP-1R selective agonist (liraglutide) and antagonist (exendin(9–39)) and a PI3K selective antagonist (LY294002) were administered. Mechanical hypersensitivity was measured through von Frey filaments. To investigate the role of GLP-1R in central sensitization, calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and c-fos were determined using western blotting and immunofluorescence. To determine the changes in microglial activation, IL-1β and TNF-α were examined by western blotting, and the number and morphology of microglia were measured by immunofluorescence. We also confirmed the effect of GLP-1R on microglial activation in lipopolysaccharide-treated BV-2 microglia. Results The protein expression of GLP-1R was increased in the TNC after nitroglycerin injection. GLP-1R was colocalized with microglia and astrocytes in the TNC and was fully expressed in BV-2 microglia. The GLP-1R agonist liraglutide alleviated basal allodynia and suppressed the upregulation of CGRP, c-fos and PI3K/p-Akt in the TNC. Similarly, the PI3K inhibitor LY294002 prevented nitroglycerin-induced hyperalgesia. In addition, activating GLP-1R reduced Iba-1, IL-1β and TNF-α release and inhibited TNC microglial number and morphological changes (process retraction) following nitroglycerin administration. In vitro, the protein levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated BV-2 microglia were also decreased by liraglutide. Conclusions These findings suggest that microglial GLP-1R activation in the TNC may suppress the central sensitization of CM by regulating TNC microglial activation via the PI3K/Akt pathway.

With the development of space laser communication and the planned deployment of satellite Internet constellations, there is a growing demand for microminiature laser communication terminals. To meet the requirements of size, weight and power (SWaP), miniaturized terminals require smaller drive components to complete on-orbit scanning and capture, which must be fast and efficient to enable satellite laser communication networks. These miniaturized laser communication terminals are highly susceptible to the impact of the initial pointing accuracy of the laser beam and microvibrations of the satellite platform. Therefore, this paper proposes a laser scanning-capture model based on a Micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS) micromirror that can provide a fast, large-scale scanning analysis. A scanning overlap factor is introduced to improve the capture probability under the influence of microvibrations. Finally, experimental analysis was carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model, which can establish a theoretical basis for future ultra-long-distance microspace laser communication.

A novel semi-solid extrusion shear process was proposed based on the idea of "process coupling and shortening process", which can improve the comprehensive mechanical properties by grain refinement. The casting process and solidification process of AZ31 semi-solid forming process were simulated via Anycasting software. The appropriate extrusion parameters were selected by comparing the results of simulation and experiment. The results show that in the deformation zone, the nucleation of AZ31 is promoted by dendrite fragmentation and pressure, leading to the achievement of a fine and uniform structure. The presence of the liquid phase is beneficial to coordinating the deformation during extrusion, reducing the effect of slip and twining on the texture, and thus the extrusion texture is weakened. The maximum basal texture strength is only 5.3 when the shear angle is 180°. Shear angle can further refine grains and improve comprehensive mechanical properties.The best mechanical properties are obtained at the shear angle of 150° with yield strength of 222 MPa, tensile strength of 309 MPa and elongation of 8%.

Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) in advanced prostatic cancer patients not receiving high-dose glucocorticoids has been reported rarely. A 73-year-old man underwent chemotherapy with cisplatin and docetaxel for advanced prostatic cancer. After nine cycles of chemotherapy, he developed a high fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, and severe fatigue, with rapid-onset hypoxic respiratory failure. Investigations demonstrated bilateral ground-glass opacities with positive bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) for Pneumocystis jirovecii by next-generation sequencings (NGS). The patient recovered well with treatment with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, caspofungin, and corticosteroids. This case report describes a case of PJP in a patient with a solid tumor who did not receive high-dose glucocorticoids and emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract Background Central sensitization is an important pathophysiological mechanism of chronic migraine (CM). According to our previous studies, microglial activation and subsequent inflammation in the trigeminal nucleus caudalis (TNC) contribute to the central sensitization. The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) is a purinergic receptor expressed in microglia and participates in central sensitization in chronic pain, but its role in CM is unclear. Numerous studies have shown that P2X7R regulates the level of autophagy and that autophagy affects the microglial activation and inflammation. Recently, autophagy has been shown to be involved in neuropathic pain, but there is no information about autophagy in CM. Therefore, the current study investigated the role of P2X7R in CM and its underlying mechanism, focusing on autophagy regulation. Methods The CM model was established by repeated intraperitoneal injection of nitroglycerin (NTG) in mice. A Von Frey filament and radiant heat were used to assess the mechanical and thermal hypersensitivity. Western blotting and immunofluorescence assays were performed to detect the expression of P2X7R, autophagy-related proteins, and the cellular localization of P2X7R. To determine the role of P2X7R and autophagy in CM, we detected the effects of the autophagy inducer, rapamycin (RAPA) and P2X7R antagonist, Brilliant Blue G (BBG), on pain behavior and the expression of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and c-fos. In addition, the effect of RAPA and BBG on microglial activation and subsequent inflammation were investigated. Results The expression of P2X7R was increased and was mainly colocalized with microglia in the TNC following recurrent NTG administration. The autophagic flux was blocked in CM, which was characterized by upregulated LC3-II, and accumulated autophagy substrate protein, p62. RAPA significantly improved the basal rather than acute hyperalgesia. BBG alleviated both basal and acute hyperalgesia. BBG activated the level of autophagic flux. RAPA and BBG inhibited the activation of microglia, limited the inflammatory response, and reduced the expression of CGRP and c-fos. Conclusions Our results demonstrate the dysfunction of the autophagic process in CM. Activated autophagy may have a preventive effect on migraine chronification. P2X7R contributes to central sensitization through mediating autophagy regulation and might become a potential target for CM.

The index of ozone anomaly (IOA) has been proposed to detect changes in tropospheric ozone associated with strong earthquakes. The tropospheric ozone prior and after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake has been analyzed using IOA. Atmospheric infrared sounder ozone volume mixing ratio (O3 VMR) at different pressure levels (600, 500, 400, 300, 200 hPa) for an 18-year period 2003–2020 has been considered to identify the unique behavior associated with the strong earthquakes. Our results show distinct enhancement in tropospheric ozone occurred 5 d (7 May 2008) prior to the main event and distributed along the Longmenshan fault zone. An enhancement in IOA has also been observed around the time of the 2013 Lushan and 2017 Jiuzhaigou earthquakes, but with the different emergence time, which indicates that the unusual behavior of tropospheric ozone depends on the tectonic and geological environment, focal mechanism, focal depth, meteorological conditions, and other factors. The location of increased tropospheric ozone indicates the epicenter of earthquakes. The magnitude of earthquake could be one of the important factors affecting the appearance of the anomalous tropospheric ozone. The possible mechanism for the increased tropospheric ozone associated with strong earthquakes is discussed in this article. The quasi-synchronous changes of tropospheric ozone and other parameters in the lithosphere/atmosphere/ionosphere have been found by combining with the other published results related to the Wenchuan earthquake, which show the existence of coupling during the earthquake preparation phase associated with the lithosphere–atmosphere–ionosphere coupling.

This study aims to review the literature on marketing strategies in Chinese catering industry. A large part of advertising is dedicated to changing consumers' views and priorities, either by instilling favorable attitudes or eliminating negative attitudes. To avoid credibility issues or uncertainty, the ethical aspects of the study were taken into account. The results revealed that the shift in customer priorities posed a challenge for marketing management in the Chinese catering industry during the new coronavirus outbreak. Future investigators should collect raw data to conduct research, as it will provide detailed information about the study topic.

Lung transplantation is a potentially life-saving therapy for patients with terminal respiratory illnesses. Long-term survival is limited by the development of a variety of opportunistic infections and rejection. Optimal means of differential diagnosis of infection and rejection have not been established. With these challenges in mind, we tried to use transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) rapid on-site cytological evaluation (ROSE), metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), and routine histologic examination to timely distinguish infection and rejection, and accurately detect etiologic pathogens. We reviewed the medical records of all patients diagnosed with infection or rejection by these means from December 2017 to September 2018 in our center. We identified seven recipients whose clinical course was complicated by infection or rejection. Three patients were diagnosed with acute rejection, organizing pneumonia, and acute fibrinoid organizing pneumonia, respectively. Four of the seven patients were diagnosed with infections, including Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, cytomegalovirus, Aspergillus, and bacterial pneumonia. These patients recovered after proper treatment. TBLB + ROSE + mNGS might be a good method to accurately detect etiologic pathogens, which may help us to facilitate the use of targeted and precision medicine therapy in postoperative complications and avoid unnecessary potential adverse effects of drugs.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PT-Cy) combined with ruxolitinib and tocilizumab in the prevention of acute graft versus host disease (aGVHD) after haploidentical allogeneic peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) by a single-arm prospective study. Methods A total of 56 patients undergoing haploidentical allogeneic peripheral blood HSCT in our department from January 1, 2019 to March 1, 2020 were recruited in this study. The GHVD prevention regiments included: cyclophosphamide 40 mg/kg×2 d (+3～+4 d), ciclosporin 2 mg/kg (+5～+180 d) and mycophenolate sodium enteric-coated tablets 10 mg/kg (+5～+35 d), tocilizumab 8 mg/kg×1 d (-1 d), and ruxolitinib (-1～+180 d). The effect of transplantation and adverse effect of aGVHD were observed. Results The implantation of stem cells was completed successfully among all the 56 patients (100%), with an implantation time of neutrophils of 13 d and of platelets of 17 d. The incidence of grade Ⅱ～Ⅳ aGVHD was 23.2%, and that of grade Ⅲ～Ⅳ was 12.5%. One patient died due to poor control of aGVHD, 6 patients had pulmonary infection; 12 patients had human cytomegalovirus infection or persistent viral copy number rise; 8 patients had Epstein-Barr virus infection or persistent viral copy number rise; and 8 patients had hematopoietic suppression. During the follow-up of 2～16 months (median 8 months), nonrelapse mortality (NRM) was 7.2%, and overall survival rate (OS) was 91.4%. Conclusion ;PT-Cy combined with ruxolitinib and tocilizumab regimen can effectively prevent aGVHD for haplotype concomitant transplantation patients. No significant increases of bacterial and viral infections are observed. This program has a higher incidence of hematopoietic suppression and a good overall tolerance.

2.5D shallow cross-linked Cf/Al composites with volume fraction of 50% were fabricated by vacuum pressure infiltration. The microstructure, bending and shear properties at room and high temperature were studied. The failure mechanism of bending and shear properties of the composites were analyzed. The results indicate that the warp and weft microstructures of 2.5D shallow cross-linked Cf/Al composites have some defects such as microvoid and fiber aggregation. The bending strength, bending modulus and shear strength of the composites at room temperature are 268.4 MPa,75.2 GPa and 41.0 MPa,respectively. The bending strength, bending modulus and shear strength of the composites at 350 ℃ are 139 MPa,70.9 GPa and 39.2 MPa,respectively. The bending strength,bending modulus and shear strength of the composites at 400 ℃ are 97.6 MPa,68.5 GPa and 29.9 MPa,respectively.The bending failure is mainly caused by the compressive stress on the inner surface, which leads to press fracture of the warp fiber bundle and the extrusion deformation of the weft fiber bundle. Tensile failure of composites is not obvious with the increase of testing temperature at the outer side tension. Shear failure occurs first in the damage interface of the matrix and fiber bundle, the fiber bundle is pulled out and the fracture surface is not at the same level at room temperature, the fracture of the fiber bundle shows 45° failure at 350,400 ℃.The buckling of the warp fiber bundle and the extrusion deformation degree of the weft fiber bundle become more and more serious with the increase of the test temperature.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and influencing factors of patients with brain metastases from esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (BM-ESCC) and their impact on survival. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 67 patients with newly diagnosed BM-ESCC from December 2000 to December 2016 in our hospital, to analyze the correlation of brain metastases with clinicopathological characteristics and the survival. Results The number of BM-ESCC was positively correlated with T and N stages (P < 0.05). The median survival time was 9.65 months. Logistic regression analysis showed that N2 and N3 were risk factors for brain metastasis in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and the risk of brain metastasis in patients with N0 and N1 was lower (P < 0.05). Log rank survival analysis reveal that patients with one brain metastasis had a significantly longer survial than those with two and three brain metastasis (P < 0.05); patients with N0+N1 stage had better prognosis than those with N2 and N3 (P < 0.05). Cox regression model showed that T3+T4 stage, N3 stage and whole brain radiotherapy were independent prognostic factors for BM-ESCC patients (P < 0.05). Conclusion In esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients with brain metastases, the number of brain metastases is positively correlated with T and N stages; the higher N stage is, the higher the risk of brain metastases is; the higher T and N stages are, the worse the prognosis is; whole brain radiotherapy could offer better survival benefits.

Solution-processing thin-film solar techniques, such as organic solar cells (OSCs) and perovskite solar cells (PeSCs), hold great promise as cost-effective renewable energy sources with feasible large-scale manufacturing. However, these devices are suffering from the incomplete photon absorption and thereby cannot unlock the full potential of device efficiency despite their rapid development in recent decades. Incorporation of plasmonic metal nanoparticles (NPs) into the thin active layers has been considered as a breakthrough strategy to solve this inherent limit and represent an imperative milestone toward the highly efficient OSCs and PeSCs, arising from the significantly enhanced light absorption and electrical characteristics in fundamental. Herein, the recent advances in fabrication and incorporation strategies of plasmonic NPs are reviewed. The in-depth efficiency and stability enhancement mechanisms are investigated and highlighted. Meanwhile, potential strategies and perspectives for their further development of NP-based solution-processing OSCs and PeSCs are presented.

To explore the diagnostic value of recombinant heparin-binding hemagglutinin adhesin (HBHA) protein antigen in spinal tuberculosis.

104 W supercontinuum (SC) covering 370 nm-2400 nm is reported. High power visible SC is generated by pumping cascaded photonic crystal fibers (PCF) with 1064 nm picosecond pulse. Cascaded PCFs is fabricated by fusion splicing two different PCFs together with a coupling efficiency of 75%. For the purpose of avoiding fiber fuse phenomenon in PCF, the discharge time and intensity of fusion splicer should be precisely controlled. Two components of cascaded PCFs are pumped separately by 1064 nm picosecond pulse for comparing with the impact of cascaded PCFs. As a result of pumping cascaded PCFs, 104 W SC covering 370 nm-2400 nm is generated. Visible spectra (380 nm-780 nm) accounts for 50.4% (52.4 W) by numerical integration. To best of our knowledge, it's the first time that a visible SC with over a hundred watt output and 370 nm short-wave edge is obtained experimentally.

Passive microwave remote sensing technology is an effective means to identify the thermal anomalies associated with earthquakes due to its penetrating capability through clouds compared with infrared sensors. However, observed microwave brightness temperature is strongly influenced by soil moisture and other surface parameters. In the present article, the segmented threshold method has been proposed to detect anomalous microwave brightness temperature associated with the strong earthquakes occurred in Sichuan province, China, an earthquake-prone area with high soil moisture. The index of microwave radiation anomaly (IMRA) computed by the proposed method is found to enhance prior to the three strong earthquakes, 2008 Wenchuan (M = 7.8), 2013 Lushan (M = 6.6), and 2017 Jiuzhaigou (M = 6.5), occurred during 2008-2018 using the Defense Meteorological Space Program Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder F17 satellite data. Our results show that the microwave brightness temperature anomalies appeared about two months prior to the three strong earthquakes. For the Wenchuan and Lushan earthquakes, the enhanced IMRA distributed along the main fault, which is consistent with the variations of our earlier studies of the 1997 Manyi (M = 7.5) and the 2001 Kokoxili (M = 7.8) earthquakes in the region with low soil moisture. For the Jiuzhaigou earthquake, the anomalies distributed around the epicenter and do not indicate the seismogenic structure, which could be due to the presence of a blind fault. It should be noted that quantitative evaluation of IMRA is limited due to infrequent occurrence of earthquakes.

Abstract Background Microglial activation contributes to the development of chronic migraine (CM). The P2Y12 receptor (P2Y12R), a metabolic purinoceptor that is expressed on microglia in the central nervous system (CNS), has been indicated to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of chronic pain. However, whether it contributes to the mechanism of CM remains unknown. Thus, the present study investigated the precise details of microglial P2Y12R involvement in CM. Methods Mice subjected to recurrent nitroglycerin (NTG) treatment were used as the CM model. Hyperalgesia were assessed by mechanical withdrawal threshold to electronic von Frey and thermal withdrawal latency to radiant heat. Western blot and immunohistochemical analyses were employed to detect the expression of P2Y12R, Iba-1, RhoA, and ROCK2 in the trigeminal nucleus caudalis (TNC). To confirm the role of P2Y12R and RhoA/ROCK in CM, we systemically administered P2Y12R antagonists (MRS2395 and clopidogrel) and a ROCK2 inhibitor (fasudil) and investigated their effects on microglial activation, c-fos, and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) expression in the TNC. To further confirm the effect of P2Y12R on microglial activation, we preincubated lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated BV-2 microglia with MRS2395 and clopidogrel. ELISA was used to evaluate the levels of inflammatory cytokines. Results The protein levels of P2Y12R, GTP-RhoA, ROCK2, CGRP, c-fos, and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in the TNC were increased after recurrent NTG injection. A double labeling study showed that P2Y12R was restricted to microglia in the TNC. MRS2395 and clopidogrel attenuated the development of tactile allodynia and suppressed the expression of CGRP, c-fos, and GTP-RhoA/ROCK2 in the TNC. Furthermore, fasudil also prevented hyperalgesia and suppressed the expression of CGRP in the TNC. In addition, inhibiting P2Y12R and ROCK2 activities suppressed NTG-induced microglial morphological changes (process retraction) and iNOS production in the TNC. In vitro, a double labeling study showed that P2Y12R was colocalized with BV-2 cells, and the levels of iNOS, IL-1β, and TNF-α in LPS-stimulated BV-2 microglia were reduced by P2Y12R inhibitors. Conclusions These data demonstrate that microglial P2Y12R in the TNC plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of CM by regulating microglial activation in the TNC via RhoA/ROCK pathway.

The results of a commissioning experiment on the SILEX-Ⅱ laser facility (formerly known as CAEP-PW) are reported. SILEX-Ⅱ is a complete optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification laser facility. The peak power reached about 1 PW in a 30 fs pulse duration during the experiment. The laser contrast was better than 1010 at 20 ps ahead of the main pulse. In the basic laser foil target interaction, a set of experimental data were collected, including spatially resolved x-ray emission, the image of the coherent transition radiation, the harmonic spectra in the direction of reflection, the energy spectra and beam profile of accelerated protons, hot-electron spectra, and transmitted laser energy fraction and spatial distribution. The experimental results show that the laser intensity reached 5 × 1020 W/cm2 within a 5.8 µm focus (FWHM). Significant laser transmission did not occur when the thickness of the CH foil was equal to or greater than 50 nm. The maximum energy of the accelerated protons in the target normal direction was roughly unchanged when the target thickness varied between 50 nm and 15 µm. The maximum proton energy via the target normal sheath field acceleration mechanism was about 21 MeV. We expect the on-target laser intensity to reach 1022 W/cm2 in the near future, after optimization of the laser focus and upgrade of the laser power to 3 PW.

Background: Infliximab is emerging as the first-line therapy for Crohn’s disease (CD); however, the rate of secondary loss of response (SLR) can exceed 50%. This study aimed to construct a nomogram based on bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) indexes and laboratory markers to predict SLR to infliximab in biologically naïve CD patients. Methods: Data of 136 biologically naïve CD patients treated between September 2019 and March 2021 were retrospectively retrieved. BIA-based body composition parameters and laboratory markers were obtained before the infliximab therapy. Predictor selection was conducted using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and univariate logistic regression. The nomogram was developed using multivariable logistic regression, and internal validation was made by ten-fold cross-validation. Results: SLR occurred in 51% of the CD patients during 54 weeks. The nomogram predictors included hemoglobin, albumin, serum iron, and BIA scores. The nomogram showed significant discrimination (area under the curve [AUC], 0.920; 95% confidence interval, 0.873–0.967) and calibration (mean error = 0.012). Decision curve analysis (DCA) indicated that the nomogram provided net clinical benefit when the risk probability was between 2% and 83%. Internal validation assessment of the nomogram robustness found an AUC of 0.904 and an accuracy of 0.841. Conclusions: This BIA-based body composition parameters- and laboratory markers-based novel nomogram could act as a predictive tool to evaluate SLR to infliximab therapy, crucial for optimizing treatment strategies and switching biologics in CD.

On 4 August 2020, a strong explosion occurred near the Beirut seaport, Lebanon and killed more than 200 people and damaged numerous buildings in the vicinity. As Amonium Nitrate (AN) caused the explosion, many studies claimed the release of large amounts of NO2 in the atmosphere may have resulted in a health hazard in Beirut and the vicinity. In order to reasonably evaluate the significance of NO2 amounts released in the atmosphere, it is important to investigate the spatio-temporal distribution of NO2 during and after the blast and compare it to the average day-to-day background emissions from vehicle and ship traffic in Beirut. In the present study, we use Sentinel-5 TROPOMI data to study NO2 emissions in the atmosphere close to the affected area prior, during, and after the Beirut explosion (28 July–8 August 2020). Analysis shows an increase in NO2 concentrations over Beirut up to about 1.8 mol/m2 one day after the explosion that was gradually dissipated in about 4 days. Seven days before the blast (on 28 July 2020) NO2 concentration was, however, observed to be up to about 4.3 mol/m2 over Beirut, which is mostly attributed to vehicle emissions in Lebanon, ships passing by the Beirut seaport and possibly the militant activities in Syria during 20–26 July. It is found that the Beirut blast caused a temporarily and spatially limited increase in NO2. The blast mostly affected the coastal areas in Lebanon, while it did not have much effect on inland regions. TROPOMI data are also analyzed for the Greater Cairo Area (GCA), Suez Canal, Egypt, and in Nicosia, Cyprus to confirm the effect of human activities, vehicles, and ship traffic on NO2 emissions in relatively high and relatively low populated zones.

Signal detection is one of the most critical and challenging issues in ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) systems. In this paper, a multi-antenna AmBC signal detection method is proposed based on reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) and deep reinforcement learning. Firstly, an efficient multi-antenna AmBC system is developed based on RIS, which can achieve information transmission and energy collection simultaneously. Secondly, a smart twin delayed deep deterministic (TD3) AmBC signal detection method is presented, based on deep reinforcement learning. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments are performed, which show that the proposed method is more compelling than the outstanding comparison methods.

Usually, the order of active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is equal to the relative order of the plant. To improve the control performance, a robust reduced-order method for ADRC is investigated in this paper. Firstly, frequency domain analysis shows that the lower-order extended state observer (ESO) has a smaller disturbance estimation error, so disturbance attenuation capability can be improved by reducing the order of ADRC. However, using only reduced-order ADRC will worsen the robustness of closed-loop systems. Therefore, a robust ADRC method based on a modified noise reduction disturbance observer (MNRDOB) is proposed. The main role of the MNRDOB is to improve the control performance of the closed-loop system by modifying the structure of the controlled object. In addition, the robust stability of the closed-loop control system based on the MNRDOB is discussed. Moreover, some simulations are used to demonstrate the robustness and noise suppression effects of the compound control method reduced-order ADRC with MNRDOB, and the parameter tuning method for the MNRDOB to improve the robustness of the system is given. Finally, some experiments on speed control of a one-dimensional gimbal are performed, and the results show that the proposed method is excellent in overshoot, tracking accuracy, and disturbance attenuation.

We fully demonstrated an ytterbium (Yb) doped triple-clad laser fiber with intense pump absorption, high efficiency, and laser stability. P5+/Al3+ molar ratio in the central region of fiber core was specially designed to be ~1.08 for compensating P2O5 evaporation, while the ratio in the outer region was set as ~0.92 for obtaining a flattened refractive index profile. Applying a two-stage deposition process, one-time collapse technique, low-temperature multi-times sintering, and suitable flow of pure POCl3 during sintering and collapsing process were instrumental in decreasing and offsetting element evaporation. Measured in an all-fiber master oscillator power amplifier configuration, the 7-m-long fiber obtained 1.39 kW near-single-mode laser output at 1079.6 nm with a slope efficiency of 85.2% and a beam quality M2 of 1.36. Output laser spectrum with no sign of nonlinear-related peaks and a narrow 3-dB-bandwidth of ~0.33 nm was obtained. The fiber-based laser setup was kept at the maximum power for 1 h with power degradation less than 0.21%. The results demonstrated Yb-doped aluminophosphosilicate triple-clad fiber is a highly competitive candidate for commercial high-power laser and high-power narrow-linewidth fiber laser.

Multiple parameters (brightness temperature, soil moisture, surface latent heat flux, surface air temperature and carbon monoxide) before and after the 2015 Nepal M7.8 Gorkha main earthquake and M7.3 Dolakha aftershock were analysed using satellite observation data. The thermal anomalies from optical and microwave data appear about two months prior to the 2015 Gorkha earthquake. Some of the parameters show anomalous changes at different altitudes about 20 days prior to the main earthquake event and 10 days prior to the strong aftershock. Our results show that pre-earthquake anomalous signals propagate from the in situ to the top of atmosphere, and the anomalies in the atmosphere often observed prior to an impending earthquake. The changes on the land surface and corresponding changes in meteorological and atmospheric parameters show existence of strong coupling during the seismogenic period, although the transfer mechanism of seismic/electromagnetic is still has to be investigated and understood.

Thermal variations in surface and atmosphere observed from multiple satellites prior to strong earthquakes have been widely reported ever since seismic thermal anomalies were discovered three decades ago. These thermal changes are related to stress accumulation caused by the tectonic activities in the final stage of earthquake preparation. In the present paper, we focused on the thermal changes associated with the 2021 Madoi M 7.3 earthquake in China and analyzed the temporal and spatial evolution of the Index of Microwave Radiation Anomaly (IMRA) and the Index of Longwave Radiation Anomaly (ILRA) based on 8-year microwave brightness temperature (MWBT) and 14-year outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) data collected by satellites. We also explored their responses in different tectonic units (seismogenic fault zone and active tectonic block). Our results indicated that the enhanced IMRA was distributed along the seismogenic fault since mid-February and reappeared for a longer time and with stronger intensity in March and April 2021. The pronounced enhancement in the ILRA was observed within one month over Bayan Har tectonic and adjacent blocks. The higher ILRA over the tectonic blocks in the southern Tibet Plateau at the beginning of 2021 could be associated with the regional stress accumulation, as proven by the occurrences of two moderate earthquakes during this period.
