3. The 2-domination number of cylindrical graphs

Abstract

A vertex subset S of a graph G is said to 2-dominate the graph if each vertex not in S has at least two neighbors in it. As usual, the associated parameter is the minimum cardinal of a 2-dominating set, which is called the 2-domination number of the graph G. We present both lower and upper bounds of the 2-domination number of cylinders, which are the Cartesian products of a path and a cycle. These bounds allow us to compute the exact value of the 2-domination number of cylinders where the path is arbitrary, and the order of the cycle is n $\equiv$ 0(mod 3) and as large as desired. In the case of the lower bound, we adapt the technique of the wasted domination to this parameter and we use the so-called tropical matrix product to obtain the desired bound. Abstract

Major advances in information and communication technologies (ICTs) make citizens to be considered as sensors in motion. Carrying their mobile devices, moving in their connected vehicles or actively participating in social networks, citizens provide a wealth of information that, after properly processing, can support numerous applications for the benefit of the community. In the context of smart communities, the INRISCO proposal intends for (i) the early detection of abnormal situations in cities (i.e., incidents), (ii) the analysis of whether, according to their impact, those incidents are really adverse for the community; and (iii) the automatic actuation by dissemination of appropriate information to citizens and authorities. Thus, INRISCO will identify and report on incidents in traffic (jam, accident) or public infrastructure (e.g., works, street cut), the occurrence of specific events that affect other citizens life (e.g., demonstrations, concerts), or environmental problems (e.g., pollution, bad weather). It is of particular interest to this proposal the identification of incidents with a social and economic impact, which affects the quality of life of citizens.

Abstract

This paper describes the 5th edition of the Predicting Video Memorability Task as part of MediaEval2022. This year we have reorganised and simplified the task in order to lubricate a greater depth of inquiry. Similar to last year, two datasets are provided in order to facilitate generalisation, however, this year we have replaced the TRECVid2019 Video-to-Text dataset with the VideoMem dataset in order to remedy underlying data quality issues, and to prioritise short-term memorability prediction by elevating the Memento10k dataset as the primary dataset. Additionally, a fully fledged electroencephalography (EEG)-based prediction sub-task is introduced. Abstract

The Predicting Media Memorability task in the MediaEval evaluation campaign has been running annually since 2018 and several different tasks and data sets have been used in this time. This has allowed us to compare the performance of many memorability prediction techniques on the same data and in a reproducible way and to refine and improve on those techniques. The resources created to compute media memorability are now being used by researchers well beyond the actual evaluation campaign. 26. Microstructure sensitive fatigue life prediction model for SLM fabricated Hastelloy-X

Abstract

A microstructure-sensitive fatigue life prediction framework based on CP-FFT is proposed to study SLM fabricated Hastelloy-X. The microstructure enters in the model through the shape, size and orientation distributions of grains in the RVEs, which are generated from experimental EBSD data. The framework has been applied to specimens built in two different directions with different polycrystalline microstructures and is able to accurately predict their fatigue life, using just two experiments for calibration. Abstract

La trata persiste como un fenómeno dinámico cuya realidad esta invisibilizada en muchas ocasiones, especialmente cuando nos referimos a mujeres que desde una perspectiva interseccional están sometidas a múltiples discriminaciones. Los asentamientos de Huelva esbozan una realidad multifactorial de vulnerabilidad para las mujeres migrantes, donde la explotación sexual, en su invisibilidad, requiere ser analizada. Nos proponemos identificar los riesgos de captación de víctimas de explotación sexual, así como detectar los posibles indicadores de trata vinculados, en el contexto de exclusión sociocultural de las mujeres temporeras marroquíes de la provincia de Huelva. Se ha implementado una metodología etnográfica, fundamentada en un trabajo de campo a través de técnicas cualitativas; búsqueda bibliográfica, observación participante, y entrevista semidirectiva. Intervienen agentes sociales claves y mujeres que se encuentran en la situación objeto de estudio. Entre los resultados, observamos una situación multifactorial de discriminación y desigualdad en las mujeres migrantes de los asentamientos de Huelva, quedando fuera del sistema de protección e incrementándose el contexto de vulnerabilidad con grave riesgo de sufrir violencias. Las conclusiones manifiestan la necesidad de nuevas estrategias sociales y políticas frente a este problema social invisibilizado que debería ser prioritario en la agenda pública actual.

Abstract

The aim of the Memorability-EEG pilot subtask at MediaEval'2021 is to promote interest in the use of neural signals -- either alone or in combination with other data sources -- in the context of predicting video memorability by highlighting the utility of EEG data. The dataset created consists of pre-extracted features from EEG recordings of subjects while watching a subset of videos from Predicting Media Memorability subtask 1. This demonstration pilot gives interested researchers a sense of how neural signals can be used without any prior domain knowledge, and enables them to do so in a future memorability task. The dataset can be used to support the exploration of novel machine learning and processing strategies for predicting video memorability, while potentially increasing interdisciplinary interest in the subject of memorability, and opening the door to new combined EEG-computer vision approaches., Comment: 3 pages
