Abstract The dataset presents a 43 year-long reanalysis of pollen seasons for three major allergenic genera of trees in Europe: alder (Alnus), birch (Betula), and olive (Olea). Driven by the meteorological reanalysis ERA5, the atmospheric composition model SILAM predicted the flowering period and calculated the Europe-wide dispersion pattern of pollen for the years 1980–2022. The model applied an extended 4-dimensional variational data assimilation of in-situ observations of aerobiological networks in 34 European countries to reproduce the inter-annual variability and trends of pollen production and distribution. The control variable of the assimilation procedure was the total pollen release during each flowering season, implemented as an annual correction factor to the mean pollen production. The dataset was designed as an input to studies on climate-induced and anthropogenically driven changes in the European vegetation, biodiversity monitoring, bioaerosol modelling and assessment, as well as, in combination with intra-seasonal observations, for health-related applications.

Moral development is crucial for a meaningful life. Many well-founded approaches and models are present in the moral development literature, which is a very diverse and populated field. The model of a 'person of moral growth' presented in this paper is a contribution to moral growth research based on personalist virtue ethics. Personalist virtue ethics puts the person at the centre of the moral reflection, addressing the holistic interplay of the person's dimensions in the process of moral growth. The model is an operationalization of the person's dimensions for educational and research purposes in the field of moral development. In this paper, the four components of the model are presented: emotional-cognitive, decisional (free commitment to moral growth), practical (moral growth through personal action), and self-understanding (the moral growth identity), and the process of the elaboration of the model is explained. For enhancing the construct validity of the model, its components and pedagogical implications are discussed in the light of recent moral education literature. This model is a contribution to a more cogent moral education and is helping to design and deliver moral educational experiences which address personal moral development in a clear, convincing, and well-structured way.

The aim of this study was to identify how key actors in school practice understand character education (CE) and virtue education (VE) in Latvia. For addressing the research question ('What advanced understanding of CE and VE do the key actors of school education hold?'), the study uses qualitative analysis and synthesis of participants' (N = 700) (pupils, parents, pre- and in-service schoolteachers, and school heads) opinions about the meaning of and differences between CE and VE. The inquiry elicited participants' views regarding the essence (purpose, 'why'), manifestations (educational focus, 'what'), and the practical implementations (kind of activities, 'how') of CE and VE. The results point to the education of a 'virtuous character', as a synthesis of CE and VE balancing their individual and social dominants and focusing on pupils' friendship attitudes, relationships, behaviours, and actions, which are the sources of well-being and flourishing and are internalised through substantive long-term actions.

This work is centred on how the teachers´ thought has evolved. It is focused on experimental science teachers in the Canary Island Autonomous Region (Spain). It is also about the professional development during a time lapse that coincides with different educative laws. In this work, there are two stages. At the first stage, it is designed and elaborated a poll on the teachers´ formation and training, based in an opinion poll in 2002 and 2011. The results are studied and they give us some conclusions which clearly remark what aspect of the teachers´ opinions have changed and which ones still haven´t changed. Then, at a second stage it is compared the results with similar questions that were investigated by some authors in 1988 and 1989 so we can now compare the teachers´ opinion, in different moments, on the most important aspects related to their formation and training.

Due to its resistance to multiple drugs, it is challenging to treat, which can result in serious illness and death. Conventional treatments for infected wounds often involve the topical or systemic application of antibiotics, which can lead to systemic toxicity and the development of drug resistance. The combination of wound dressings that promote wound healing with nanoparticles (NPs) represents a revolutionary strategy for optimizing the safety and efficacy of antibiotics. This review assesses a systematic search to identify the latest approaches where the evaluation of wound dressings loaded with antibiotic NPs is conducted. The properties of NPs, the features of wound dressings, the antimicrobial activity and biocompatibility of the different strategies are analyzed. The results indicate that most research in this field is focused on dressings loaded with silver NPs (57.1%) or other inorganic materials (22.4%). Wound dressings loaded with polymeric NPs and carbon-based NPs represent 14.3% and 6.1% of the evaluated studies, respectively. Nevertheless, there are no clinical trials that have evaluated the efficacy of NPs-loaded wound dressings in patients. Further research is required to ensure the safety of these treatments and to translate the findings from the bench to the bedside. The majority of the samples were cryopreserved prior to cancer treatment (460/600, 77%, median 5 days before treatment). Semen quality had a predisposed reduction in those collected from adolescents with testicular and/or hematological malignancies. Analyses of the 140 (23%) samples cryopreserved after treatment initiation (median of 84 days) revealed decreased median concentration and motility following high gonadotoxic-risk treatment. Rate of oligoasthenozoospermia was comparable in samples collected prior to treatment with those provided during follow-up spermiograms within 1 year after treatment initiation (45.5% vs 45.5%). However, an increase was seen in samples collected 1– 2 (9.1% to 90.9%) and 2– 3 (50.0% to 100.0%) years after treatment initiation.Conclusion: Cancer diagnosis and treatment may impair spermatogenesis; therefore, patient counseling prior to cancer treatment by an oncologist and/or fertility specialist is crucial.Keywords: cancer, fertility preservation, adolescent, men

Participatory design emerges as a proactive approach involving different stakeholders in design and decision-making processes, addressing diverse values and ensuring outcomes align with users’ needs. However, the inadequacy of engaging stakeholders with a spatial experience can result in uninformed and, consequently, unsuccessful design solutions in a built environment. This paper explores how metaverse tools can help enhance participatory design by providing new collaborative opportunities via networked 3D environments. A hybrid format (online and in situ) co-creation process was documented and analysed, targeting public space design in London, Hong Kong, and Lisbon. The participants collaborated to address a set of design requirements via a tailored metaverse space, following a six-step methodology (Tour, Discuss, Rate, Define, Action, and Show and Tell). The preliminary results indicated that non-immersive metaverse tools help strengthen spatial collaboration through user perspective simulations, introducing novel interaction possibilities within design processes. The technology’s still-existing technical limitations may be tackled with careful engagement design, iterative reviews, and participants’ feedback. The experience documented prompts a reflection on the role of architects in process design and mediating multi-stakeholder collaboration, contributing to more inclusive, intuitive, and informed co-creation.
