[EN] Metamorphic basements are usually considered rigid and isotropic at a large scale. However, basements contain inherited weaknesses that may potentially accommodate superimposed contraction (e.g., fault reactivation), and that favor fold nucleation (e.g., penetrative foliations). If these conditions are met, what could be the factors that impede the development of basement folds or their recognition? Actual basement folding is rarely documented, especially for large dimensions. Here we provide a case example, discussed from the perspective of structural analysis of surface data and sustained by geophysical data. The basement of the Spanish-Portuguese Central System is defined by an Alpine mega-fold (Hiendelaencina Antiform) that trends parallel to this mountain range and affects the basement and its sedimentary cover, collectively. The wavelength of this fold matches or even surpasses the thickness of the crust that hosts it (36–41 km). The Moho under this mega-fold is displaced by an Alpine fault that accounts for incipient intraplate continental subduction. The topography of the mantle may reflect an up-warping compatible with the mega-fold observed on the surface. Mega-folding is observed in the hanging wall of the Berzosa Fault, which emerges as a SE-dipping, Variscan (Paleozoic), extensional fault reactivated as a basal decollement upon Alpine (Cenozoic) contraction. The mega-fold was formed after well-oriented planar anisotropies in the basement (foliation and bedding). The development of this fold was assisted by heterogeneous shearing (coeval thrusting) plus the buttressing effect of pre-existing, near-vertical, crustal-scale faults (Somolinos and Somosierra), which inhibited slip-upsection through the basal decollement (Berzosa Fault).

La Falla de Santa María del Espino se localiza en la Rama Castellana de la Cordillera Ibérica (CI). Se orienta en dirección NO-SE, buzando hacia el SO. Superpone, en su parte central, el basamento Paleozoico (pizarras y cuarcitas del Ordovícico y pizarras del Silúrico) sobre los materiales sedimentarios del Triásico (areniscas, arcillas y conglomerados del Buntsandstein). Se ha determinado la orientación y cinemática de las estructuras generadas por la falla en ambos bloques, que incluyen pliegues a distintas escalas, kink bands y un conjunto de fallas menores. Se han aplicado distintas técnicas de análisis estructural con objeto de determinar tanto la cinemática de la falla principal como la orientación de los ejes principales del esfuerzo. El resultado muestra la actuación de una transpresión lateral derecha triclínica, con una vorticidad cercana a la transición entre el dominio de la cizalla pura y de la cizalla simple, y una convergencia NNO-SSE entre los bloques separados por la falla. La máxima compresión horizontal (S1) se sitúa en dirección NO-SE. [ES] El presente artículo propone una aproximación al registro material del yacimiento de Castelo da Veiga (Culleredo, A Coruña), una fortificación de pequeñas dimensiones datada en el siglo X y ubicada en un emplazamiento conspicuo con gran control visual a larga distancia. El valor de su registro arqueológico radica en dos aspectos principales: en primer lugar, la (relativa) cantidad de materiales documentados, en contraposición a la habitual ausencia de evidencias materiales en el resto de los castillos roqueros excavados en el Noroeste. Este hecho permite, por primera vez, explorar las formas de ocupación de este tipo de fortificaciones con un mayor nivel de detalle. En segundo lugar, este registro cerámico proporciona una cantidad notable de formas cerámicas representativas del mundo altomedieval, con contextos fiables y dataciones radiocarbónicas rigurosas y coherentes, que permiten datar con mayor precisión algunas de las formas paradigmáticas del repertorio cerámico del norte peninsular, habitualmente identificadas bajo cronologías poco fiables o dataciones relativas. Este trabajo, por tanto, tiene como objetivo exponer una interpretación detallada del Castelo da Veiga. Se establece una secuencia cronológica fiable de su estratigrafía y su registro material, con datos relativos sobre las características del asentamiento, sus estrategias de ocupación y su configuración interna, para posteriomente contextualizarlo en el marco de las dinámicas de fortificación del paisaje altomedieval gallego. Dating from the 10th century AD, Castelo da Veiga is a small and conspicuous rock castle with great long-distance visual control. The relevance of this archaeological record lies in two main features: firstly, the (relative) large amount of material recorded, which is unusual for NW Iberian rock castles. Secondly, it also provides interesting insights about the occupation of these fortifications, which have hardly been studied archaeologically in this region. Moreover, the presence of representative pottery types from the early medieval world can be linked with reliable contexts with precise and consistent radiocarbon dates. This fact permits to date some of the most representative typologies of the NW Iberia medieval pottery, which usally have loose chronologies based on relative datings. Therefore, the main goal of this work is to provide a detailed view of the main characteristics of Castelo da Veiga. First of all, the strategies of occupation and the internal configuration of the site will be analysed, subsequently related to the processes of fortification of early medieval landscapes. Hereinafter, the material record of the settlement will be presented, providing a reliable context as a ground to relate some characteristic forms and productions with their chronological context. These results yield a comprehensive analysis of the settlement with new insights about Galician rock castles, their connection with the early medieval fortification processes and the chronologies of certain ceramic productions.

Taxonomic identification of whale bones found during archaeological excavations is problematic due to their typically fragmented state. This difficulty limits understanding of both the past spatio-temporal distributions of whale populations and of possible early whaling activities. To overcome this challenge, we performed zooarchaeology by mass spectrometry on an unprecedented 719 archaeological and palaeontological specimens of probable whale bone from Atlantic European contexts, predominantly dating from ca 3500 BCE to the eighteenth century CE. The results show high numbers of Balaenidae (many probably North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena glacialis)) and grey whale (Eschrichtius robustus) specimens, two taxa no longer present in the eastern North Atlantic. This discovery matches expectations regarding the past utilization of North Atlantic right whales, but was unanticipated for grey whales, which have hitherto rarely been identified in the European zooarchaeological record. Many of these specimens derive from contexts associated with mediaeval cultures frequently linked to whaling: the Basques, northern Spaniards, Normans, Flemish, Frisians, Anglo-Saxons and Scandinavians. This association raises the likelihood that early whaling impacted these taxa, contributing to their extirpation and extinction. Much lower numbers of other large cetacean taxa were identified, suggesting that what are now the most depleted whales were once those most frequently used.

Large thrust faults on Mars are caused by lithospheric planetary contraction. The geometry of these faults is linked with the mechanical behavior of the lithosphere. Tharsis, the largest volcano-tectonic province on Mars, controls the global tectonic pattern of the planet. Here, we present a study of five large thrust faults concentric to Tharsis, located between the Thaumasia Highlands and the Argyre impact basin. We applied a 3D structural modeling, using a combination of fault-parallel flow and trishear algorithms to estimate the geometry and kinematics of the faults at depth. The modeled faults show an upper planar part dipping 33° to 40°, rooting with a listric geometry into horizontal levels at 13–27 km depth, with fault slips of 801–3366 m. The general out-of-Tharsis vergence, the listric fault geometries and the deepening of the depth of faulting toward Thaumasia outline an incipient thrust wedge architecture. Assuming that the largest faults rooted at the Brittle-Ductile Transition, we calculate a heat flow at the time of faulting of 24–54 mW m−2. Critical Management Studies (CMS) is an academic movement whose main objective has been to provide critical analysis of the business world within spaces traditionally hostile to alternative perspectives, such as business schools and business administration studies. The theoretical perspective of CMS has been strongly linked to postmodern theories and philosophies, with a special interest in the cultural and symbolic elements present in organizations in a historical moment marked by the hegemony of neoliberalism. It is for this reason that the concern for issues related to feminism and gender has been fundamental in the critical analyses of this movement, and therefore it is worth exploring it, especially since the academic production on these issues has been very extensive and fragmented. In this article, our proposal is to carry out a review of the analyses with a feminist perspective that, in the CMS field, have been discussed over the last three decades, as well as the reception that, in said space, there have been of debates from other fields of knowledge such as philosophy or gender studies., Los Critical Management Studies (CMS) es un movimiento académico que ha tenido como objetivo principal el proporcionar análisis críticos del mundo empresarial dentro de unos espacios tradicionalmente hostiles a ópticas alternativas, como son los de las escuelas de negocios y los estudios de administración de empresas. La perspectiva teórica de los CMS ha estado fuertemente ligada a las teorías y filosofías postmodernas, con un interés especial en los elementos culturales y simbólicos presentes en las organizaciones en un momento histórico marcado por la hegemonía del neoliberalismo. Es por ello por lo que la preocupación por las cuestiones relacionadas con el feminismo y el género ha sido fundamental en los análisis críticos de este movimiento, y merece la pena ser explorado, sobre todo una vez que la producción académica sobre estas cuestiones ha sido muy extensa y fragmentada. En este artículo, nuestra propuesta es la de realizar una revisión de los análisis con perspectiva feminista que, en los CMS, se han realizado a lo largo de las últimas tres décadas, así como la recepción que, en dicho espacio, han tenido debates procedentes de otras áreas de conocimiento como la filosofía o los estudios de género.

La consolidación de la denominada economía de las plataformas o gig economy es uno de los acontecimientos más relevantes que han tenido lugar en el capitalismo contemporáneo. Una serie de avances tecnológicos han permitido, en la pasada década, la emergencia de un nuevo paradigma productivo que supone la puesta en marcha de una novedosa forma de gestión organizativa y comercial, basada en la utilización de aplicaciones digitales, algoritmos, y un uso muy controvertido de las relaciones existentes entre consumidores, proveedores de productos/servicios y unos poderosos intermediarios denominados plataformas.

One of the most important challenges in the field of consumption is the impact of new forms of electronic commerce and other services linked to the so-called platform economy, where the consumer experience is strongly mediated by new technologies. Scholarly studies seem to point out that this trend seems unstoppable and has been further reinforced during the pandemic. However, there is not much research on these phenomena from a qualitative perspective that helps to better understand, from a sociological point of view, the existing social representations around this new digital consumption. This article tries to shed light on this topic by presenting the results of empirical research based on qualitative interviews with digital consumers in the Madrid region, conducted shortly before the pandemic., Uno de los desafíos más importantes en el ámbito del consumo es el impacto de las nuevas formas de comercio electrónico y otros servicios vinculados a la llamada economía de plataformas, donde la experiencia del consumidor está fuertemente mediada por las nuevas tecnologías. Los estudios sobre consumo indican que esta tendencia parece imparable, reforzada además durante este período de pandemia. Sin embargo, no hay demasiada investigación sobre estos fenómenos desde una perspectiva cualitativa que ayude a comprender mejor, desde un punto de vista sociológico, las representaciones sociales existentes en torno a este consumo digital. Este artículo trata de arrojar luz sobre este tema presentando los resultados de una investigación empírica basada en entrevistas cualitativas a consumidores digitales en la región de Madrid, realizadas poco antes de la pandemia.

In recent decades, an important debate regarding the fragmentation of identities in contemporary society has emerged, involving intense discussions on issues such as individualism, gender roles or the return of nationalism. However, less attention has been paid to other spaces such as corporations, where identities may be playing a relevant role as well. In this article, our aim will be to discuss the idea of corporate identity, taking into account its historical evolution over the last century (with a growing fragmentation of corporate identities taking place after relevant changes in management policies) and unfolding the critical views and analyses that have focused on this topic, adding a set of conclusions in which the sociological impact of these changes is discussed., En las últimas décadas, se ha generado un importante debate sobre la fragmentación de las identidades en la sociedad contemporánea, con discusiones intensas sobre cuestiones como el individualismo, los roles de género o el regreso del nacionalismo. Sin embargo, en general se ha prestado menos atención a un espacio como es el de las organizaciones económicas y en particular la empresa, donde sin lugar a dudas también la cuestión de la identidad puede estar jugando un papel relevante. En este trabajo, nuestro objetivo va a ser el de discutir el fenómeno de la identidad corporativa, tomando cuenta su evolución histórica a lo largo de los últimos cien años (en los que se ha experimentado una creciente fragmentación de las identidades corporativas ante los relevantes cambios de las políticas gerenciales) y los análisis críticos que se han generado en torno a la misma, añadiendo unas conclusiones en las que se discute el impacto sociológico de estos cambios.

Millennials and centennials are two generations highly involved with social issues at a political and technological level. This interest has been raised in many of these individuals, some members of «woke» communities, a search for politically correct language both in networks and contemporary audiovisual fiction usually consumed on streaming platforms. This study aimed to analyze the psychosocial feeling of political efficacy millennials and centennials have as streaming platform users in Spain and Mexico to determine their predisposition and justification to prioritize their points of view in the face of content censorship and cancellation. The results reveal that centennials have a greater sense of efficacy than millennials, the latter being the most concerned about censorship and freedom of expression when receiving a story., Millennials y centennials son dos generaciones muy implicadas con las cuestiones sociales a nivel político y tecnológico. Este interés ha suscitado en muchos de estos individuos, algunos miembros de comunidades "woke", una búsqueda del lenguaje políticamente correcto tanto en las redes como en la ficción audiovisual contemporánea consumida habitualmente en plataformas de streaming. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar el sentimiento psicosocial de eficacia política que tienen los millennials y centennials como usuarios de plataformas de streaming en España y México para determinar su predisposición y justificación para priorizar sus puntos de vista ante la censura y cancelación de contenidos. Los resultados revelan que los centennials tienen un mayor sentimiento de eficacia que los millennials, siendo estos últimos los más preocupados por la censura y la libertad de expresión a la hora de recibir una noticia.
