Estudo teórico-reflexivo, cujo objetivo foi discutir a aplicação da Teoria do Déficit de Autocuidado na assistência de enfermagem para pessoas com deficiência adquirida, considerando-as potenciais usuárias do cuidado domiciliar de longo prazo. A análise reflexiva partiu de 18 estudos disponíveis nas bases de dados da área, publicados no período de 2009 a 2017, considerando a escassa disponibilidade de publicações sobre a temática. Conclui-se que os enfermeiros recorrem à Teoria do Déficit de Autocuidado para nortear suas intervenções junto aos clientes com deficiência adquirida, sem, contudo, considerar que o processo de reabilitação deve ser pautado em estratégicas habilitadoras para minimização da dependência dessas pessoas para cuidados de longo prazo, extramuros institucionais, em seus domicílios e na comunidade.

Background: Urinary disorders have a negative impact on the quality of life and social functioning of patients with multiple sclerosis and can even be more harmful than motor changes. Objective: To perform the cultural and linguistic adaptation of Qualiveen (Brazilian Portuguese) and analyze its reliability and validity. Methodology: It was done the evaluation of the conceptual and linguistic equivalences and then of the psychometric properties of the final Portuguese (European) version. The sample consisted of 72 individuals, who attended a hospital in the center of the country, between 12/3/2016 and 1/14/2017. Results: The European Portuguese version of Qualiveen has conceptual and linguistic equivalence, showing an excellent reliability for the total scale (Cronbach’s alpha of .96) and its subdomains (Cronbach’s alpha of .81 and .93), as well as convergent and discriminant validity. Conclusion: The European Portuguese version of Qualiveen showed adequate psychometric properties. For this reason, it can be used by the scientific community with the purpose of analyzing and describing the impact of urinary disorders on the health-related quality of life of patients with Multiple Sclerosis

This study aimed to describe the impact of lower urinary tract symptoms on the health-related quality of life of patients with Multiple Sclerosis, using Qualiveen, which assesses the impact, real and perceived, of urinary problems on the quality of life of people with spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis. A quantitative, descriptive-correlational study was conducted with a nonprobability, convenience sample of 72 patients. The most common lower urinary tract symptoms are mixed symptoms. Urinary urgency is the most frequent. The Impact of Urinary Problems on Quality of Life is evident. Higher scores were found among female patients, retired patients, patients requiring assistance for indoor and outdoor activities of daily living, and patients using protective devic ception of how they urinate and moderate correlated with the number of lower urinary tract symptoms, the increased urinary frequency per day, and the years of evolution of lower urinary tract symptoms. Lower urinary tract symptoms are a common problem in patients with Multiple Sclerosis, with an impact on their quality of life, with an urgent need, active and immediate intervention of the Rehabilitation Nurses.

Aims This study aimed to examine and map the scientific evidences regarding quality of life in neurogenic bladder patients and consequently their caregivers by means of a scoping review. Design This is a scoping review proposal of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Methods It was conducted to examine and map the scientific evidences about quality of life (QoL) in neurogenic bladder patients and their caregivers, to identify the meanings attributed to QoL and its relation with intermittent urinary catheterization. The following guiding question was: "What scientific evidence has been produced on the QoL of neurogenic bladder patients using intermittent urinary catheterization and their caregivers?" A total of 2945 research studies were identified using The Cochrane Library, CINAHL, LILACS, Academic Search Premier (via EBSCO platform), PubMed, SCOPUS, the platforms Web of Science, the b-on and Gray Literature. The keywords established were patient, intermittent urinary catheterization, neurogenic urinary bladder, quality of life and caregiver. Results From 2,945 studies, 13 studies were selected. Most of the selected studies that analyzed variables related to the patients' QoL were regarding the urinary catheterization technique, assessment of urinary incontinence, individual perceptions of the procedure and experiences with urinary catheter in childhood and adult life. The meanings attributed to QoL, when compared to adult and child individuals with normal bladder functioning, presented lower QoL scores. Concerning caregivers, the QoL of caregivers of children using intermittent urinary catheterization demonstrated low scores. Linking evidence to action The QoL of patient's who use intermittent urinary catheterization can be determined by improvement of urinary symptoms and self-confidence. Research related to QoL of patients who use urinary catheter indicates the importance of adequate professional support and appropriate health public policies.

Este estudo pretendeu descrever o impacto que os Sintomas do trato urinário Inferior apresentam na Qualidade de Vida relacionada com a saúde das pessoas com Esclerose Múltipla, recorrendo ao Qualiveen, que avalia o impacto, tanto o real como o percecionado, dos problemas urinários na qualidade de vida das pessoas com lesão medular e com esclerose múltipla. É um estudo quantitativo, descritivo-correlacional. A amostra é não probabilística acidental constituída por 72 indivíduos. Os sintomas do trato urinário inferior mais frequentes são os mistos sendo a urgência urinária o mais frequente. O Impacto dos Problemas Urinários na Qualidade de Vida é notório e apresentou maiores valores no sexo feminino, nos reformados, nos que necessitam de ajuda nas atividades de vida diária dentro e fora de casa e nas pessoas que usam dispositivos protetores. Apresenta correlação elevada com a perceção da pessoa sobre a forma como urina e correlação moderada com o número de sintomas do trato urinário inferior, a frequência urinária diária aumentada e os anos de evolução dos Sintomas do trato urinário Inferior. Os sintomas do trato urinário inferior constituem um problema real das pessoas com Esclerose Múltipla e causam impacto real e percecionado na sua qualidade de vida, com necessidade urgente de intervenção ativa e imediata dos Enfermeiros de Reabilitação. Objetivos: mensurar e comparar a qualidade de vida de pacientes com bexiga neurogênica em uso do cateterismo urinário intermitente em processo de reabilitação, no Brasil e em Portugal. Método: estudo multicêntrico, Brasil e Portugal, quantitativo, transversal, observacional-analítico e correlacional. Foram utilizados dois instrumentos de coleta, um questionário de dados sociodemográficos e clínicos e World Health Organization Quality Life-bref. Foram inclusos pacientes maiores de 18 anos, com bexiga urinária neurogênica, e usuários do cateterismo urinário intermitente. Resultados: na amostra de pacientes brasileiros (n = 170) e portugueses (n = 52), respectivamente, a maioria era solteira (87-51,2%; 25-48,1%), com ensino fundamental (47-45,3%; 31-59,6%), aposentada (70-41,2%; 21-40,4%). A lesão medular foi a principal causa do uso do cateter urinário nos dois países. Os pacientes brasileiros apresentaram média de escores mais elevados de qualidade de vida no domínio psicológico (68,9) e menos elevados no domínio físico (58,9). Os pacientes portugueses apresentaram escores mais elevados no domínio psicológico (68,4) e menos no domínio ambiente (59,4). A realização do autocateterismo urinário intermitente foi significativa para os dois países. Conclusões: nos dois países, a qualidade de vida desses pacientes pode ser determinada pela melhora dos sintomas urinários, da independência, autoconfiança, relações sociais e acesso a atividades laborais. Fueron utilizados dos instrumentos de recolecta, un cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos y clínicos y el World Health Organization Quality Life-bref. Fueron inclusos pacientes mayores de 18 años, con vejiga urinaria neurogénica, y usuarios de cateterismo vesical intermitente. Resultados: en la muestra de pacientes brasileños (n = 170) y portugueses (n = 52), respectivamente, la mayoría era soltera (87-51,2%; 25-48,1%), con educación fundamental (47-45,3%; 31-59,6%), jubilada (70-41,2%; 21-40,4%). La lesión medular fue la principal causa del uso del catéter urinario en los dos países. En promedio, los pacientes brasileños presentaron scores de calidad de vida superiores en el dominio psicológico (68,9) e inferiores en el dominio físico (58,9). Los pacientes portugueses presentaron scores superiores en el dominio psicológico (68,4) y inferiores en el dominio ambiente (59,4). La ejecución del autocateterismo vesical intermitente fue significativa para los dos países. Conclusiones: en los dos países, la calidad de vida de esos pacientes puede ser determinada por la mejora de los síntomas urinarios, de la independencia, autoconfianza, relaciones sociales y acceso a actividades laborales. Objectives: measure and compare the quality of life of neurogenic bladder patients using intermittent urinary catheterization who were going through rehabilitation in Brazil and Portugal. Method: multicenter, quantitative, cross-sectional, observational-analytic and correlational study executed in Brazil and Portugal. Two data collection tools were used, being one questionnaire with sociodemographic and clinical data and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-bref. Patients were included who were over 18 years of age, suffering from neurogenic urinary bladder and using intermittent urinary catheterization. Results: in the sample of Brazilian (n = 170) and Portuguese (n = 52) patients, respectively, most patients were single (87-51.2%; 25-48.1%), had finished primary education (47-45.3%; 31-59.6%) and were retired (70-41.2%; 21-40.4%). Spinal cord injury was the main cause of using the urinary catheter in both countries. The Brazilian patients presented higher mean quality of life scores in the psychological domain (68.9) and lower scores in the physical domain (58.9). The Portuguese patients presented higher scores in the psychological domain (68.4) and lower scores in the environment domain (59.4). The execution of intermittent urinary self-catheterization was significant for both countries. Conclusions: in the two countries, these patients’ quality of life can be determined by the improvement in the urinary symptoms, independence, self-confidence, social relationships and access to work activities.

Objective: to validate an instrument to measure self-confidence of nursing care in urinary retention.Methods: methodological research study, carried out after ethical approval. A Likert-like scale of 32 items related to nursing care in urinary retention was applied to students of the graduate nursing course. For instrument validation, analysis of the sample adequacy and main components, Varimax orthogonal rotation and internal consistency analyses were developed.Results: in a sample of 305 students, there was high correlation of all items with the total scale and Cronbach's alpha of 0.949. The scale items were divided into five factors with internal consistency: Factor 1 (0.890), Factor 2 (0.874), Factor 3 (0.868), Factor 4 (0.814) and Factor 5 (0.773), respectively.Conclusion: the scale meets the validity requirements, demonstrating potential for use in evaluation and research. Objetivo: validar instrumento para mensurar a autoconfiança na assistência de enfermagem na retenção urinária.Métodos: estudo de investigação metodológica, realizado após autorização ética. Foi aplicada a estudantes do Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem uma escala tipo Likert, de 32 itens, referentes à assistência de enfermagem na retenção urinária. Para a validação do instrumento, foi realizada análise da adequação amostral e dos componentes principais, rotação ortogonal Varimax e consistência interna.Resultados: numa amostra de 305 estudantes, houve elevada correlação de todos os itens com o total da escala, alpha de Cronbach 0,949. Os itens da escala foram divididos em: cinco fatores, com consistência interna de: Fator 1 (0,890), Fator 2 (0,874), Fator 3 (0,868), Fator 4 (0,814) e Fator 5 (0,773), respectivamente.Conclusão: a escala cumpre os requisitos de validade, demonstrando potencial para uso em avaliação e investigação. Para la validación del instrumento, fue realizado: análisis de la adecuación del muestreo y de los componentes principales, rotación ortogonal Varimax y verificación de consistencia interna.Resultados: en una muestra de 305 estudiantes, hubo elevada correlación de todos los ítems con el total de la escala, Alpha de Cronbach 0,949. Los ítems de la escala fueron divididos en cinco factores, con consistencia interna de: Factor 1 (0,890), Factor 2 (0,874), Factor 3 (0,868), Factor 4 (0,814) y Factor 5 (0,773).Conclusión: la escala cumple los requisitos de validez, demostrando potencial para ser usada en evaluación e investigación.
