International audience; This paper shows the design of a low-cost IoT device which provides data that are processed in order to estimate the number of people in a room and how they interacted distancially over a period of time ranging from the minute to the week. Our device is based on the collection of Bluetooth IDs as well as their RSSI signal strength. The data collected is sent to a server through a LoRa communication. The data collected is then processed with MATLAB to estimate contacts in-between people and verify the compliance with the maximum human capacity in a room. The device had to collected a set of data over one week of experiments. This paper first presents the steps that were followed to create a prototype to retrieve the Bluetooth IDs. Then, it presents simulations carried out with the Matlab software to estimate the distribution of people in an environment. And finally, the experimental results are presented and analyzed. The analysis of the simulation results concluded about a possible efficiency of our device to estimate the distancing interaction between people in a community as well as if they respected quotas of people allowed in a room. In addition, the experimental results are very encouraging.

International audience; The impact of electromagnetic waves on human beings is a controversial topic ever since the announcement of the 5G network deployment. This article presents a connected object to gather power measurements of the new n78 5G band in France using low-cost components off-the-shelf (COTS). This object delivers to the user a 5G network exposure risk evaluation, comparing processed data to reference levels from medical studies and laws regarding the exposure to electromagnetic waves. The results of this study reveal the exposition of the general public and the dangerousness of the 5G waves from the n78 band.

International audience; This paper presents an IoT solution to monitor the attendance of students in courses and to check if they respect health regulation provided by local authorities following COVID sanitary crisis. An Arduino MKRWAN1300 embedding a LoRa module is associated with sensors on a PCB designed on PROTEUS software and packaged with laser cutting machine. It implements a dedicated program to customize LoRa frames to meet the requirements of the application. We have made the demonstration of detecting if students were entering and/or exiting a lecture hall and of counting them to check if they were using the proper doors according to the one-direction traffic imposed by local regulations.

International audience; Known as “ghost net” lost, abandoned, or discarded fishing net in the ocean has received increasing international attention in the past decades. This phenomenon has a significant impact on the ocean ecosystem as well as on the fishing presence. On the one hand, ghost nets can produce economic losses to fishers when their profits get lost. On the other hand, lost nets are among the major contributors to ocean pollution. Their existence puts the lives of marine animals in danger. In this context, the FIND project aims to localize the fishing nets underwater using an acoustic communication system to find the nets when they get lost and avoid the creation of waste in the ocean. In this paper, we propose to present the underwater connected object of localization that has been developed and to focus our attention on the localization algorithm.

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) recognize an extracellular ligand in order to transmit the corresponding information inside the cell. They are major players in physiology and predominant pharmacological targets. Here, we studied two GPCR for which the endogenous ligands are peptides. a) The ĸ opioid receptor (KOP), which recognizes dynorphin, and which is involved in the regulation of pain and reward mechanism (and thus in addiction). The discovery, pharmacology and structure - activity relationship of dynorphin are described in this manuscript as a review published in "Vitamins and Hormones" in 2019. GPCR activity requires a complex conformational dynamics and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is an excellent technique allowing such characterization. However, it requires isotope labeling of the proteins of interest and most of GPCR structural studies used receptors expressed in insect cells. We produced KOP using an E. coli expression strategy, which is the tool of choice for isotope labeling. The recombinant receptor was successfully refolded in detergent micelles and was shown to be functional in terms of ligand binding. It offers new possibilities to study its structure and dynamics by NMR. b) The growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) is naturally activated by ghrelin, a digestive peptide hormone of 28 amino-acids residues. This hormone - receptor system is involved in a multitude of physiological process such as the regulation of food intake, growth hormone secretion and glucose homeostasis. However, structural information about peptide - GPCR interaction is sparse because of the difficulty in crystallizing such complexes. Using a perdeuterated receptor expressed in E. coli and refolded in lipid nanodiscs in the group of J.L. Banères (IBMM, Montpellier), we used several liquid state NMR techniques (15N relaxation, transferred NOE, saturation transfer difference) to characterize the 3D structure and dynamics of ghrelin bound to GHSR. Our work particularly shed the light on the role of a post-translational modification (acylation on Ser 3) on the receptor specific recognition mechanism.; Les récepteurs couplés aux protéines G (RCPG) reconnaissent un ligand extracellulaire afin de transmettre l'information correspondante à l'intérieur de la cellule. Banères (IBMM, Montpellier), nous avons utilisé différentes expériences de RMN (relaxation 15N, NOE transféré et STD) pour caractériser finement la structure et la dynamique de la ghréline liée à son récepteur. The rapid growth in the Internet of Things (IoT) leads currently to an increase in the density of the number of connected objectsbym2. To reduce the energy consumption, these devices should access randomly to the channel which leads to a high probability of collision.Among the various technologies that are used to connect this massive number of devices, we distinguish two emerging technologies based onSpread Spectrum (SS) and Ultra Narrow Band (UNB). The goal of this paper is to analyze the impact of the coexistence of these two technologiesin term of bit error rate (BER) by defining a formal expression for the interfering signals., L'internet des objets (IoT) est depuis quelques années en plein essor, ce qui conduit actuellementà une augmentation de la densité du nombre d'objet connectés par m 2. Les objets connectés devant généralement minimiser leur consommation d'énergie, leur accès au canal est aléatoire. Sans contrôle d'accès au canal, les collisions entre paquets ont tendanceà croître, entraînant une augmentation des probabilités de perte de paquet. Les applications de l'IoTétant diverses, plusieurs technologies de communications sont utilisées pour connecter les objets aux passerelles. Parmi elles on peut distinguer : les technologiesàétalement de spectre et les technologiesà bande trèsétroite. L'objectif de cet article est d'analyser l'impact de la coexistence de ces deux technologies en termes de taux d'erreurs binaires (TEB)à partir d'une expression formelle des termes interférant la décision symbole.

International audience; With the CMOS technology reaching its limits, the design of cyber physical systems is becoming more and more complex. Securing the performance in terms of resolution, speed or flexibility would require a more intensive use of digital assistance to compensate for the increased challenges on the RF and analog parts.This tutorial will provide an overall overview of how to design, size and implement a digital assistance to compensate for a given non-ideality. All the main steps will be covered from the modeling approach to the implementation in fixed point. The major caveats for each topic will be discussed in order to materialize the limits of the presented methods and models. Concrete examples as well as live experimental demos will be presented for several applications such as Digital Pre-Distortion for Power Amplifiers, Digital correction of Stacked and Time Interleaved ADCs and Dynamic Element Matching Techniques for Digital to Analog Converters.

In this paper we present an introduction to Sigfox and LoRa physical and MAC Layers. I. SIGFOX MODULATION A. Sigfox Physical layer Sigfox is based on ultra-narrow band (UNB) physical layer where the binary data are broadcast with a differential binary phase shift keying (DBPSK) modulation at a very low rate R b,s = 100 bps. Thus, the transmitted signal occupies a band of approximatively W s = 100Hz. Sigfox nodes use a Random Frequency and Time Division Multiple Access (RFTDMA) to transmit their signals. The frequency hopping is done inside a bandwidth B >> W s. This ensures channel diversity and deep fading protection.
