O AVE é subdividido em isquêmico (AVEi) e hemorrágico (AVEh), sendo o primeiro mais prevalente. A interrupção de sangue em uma determinada região do cérebro no AVEi cria duas regiões distintas no tecido: o "núcleo isquêmico" e a "penumbra isquêmica". As células do núcleo isquêmico morrem primariamente por necrose pela falta direta de suprimentos básicos para a sobrevivência celular, enquanto as células da região de penumbra morrem por apoptose, sendo essa região factível de intervenção. O principal tratamento farmacológico disponível hoje envolve o uso do medicamento Alteplase, um trombolítico cuja utilização é extremamente restrita. Nesse sentido, novas abordagens são necessárias a fim de ampliar o espectro terapêutico, além de reduzir os efeitos colaterais. E é nessa perspectiva que as plantas medicinais da flora brasileira são uma potente fonte para o desenvolvimento de novos medicamentos para o tratamento do AVEi. De todo o exposto acima, nosso trabalho avaliou o possível efeito do tratamento com o extrato etanólico da planta medicina lCombretum leprosum (EECL) em prevenir os danos celulares e cognitivos causados por AVEi em camundongos. Para isto, utilizamos camundongos machos da espécie Mus musculus e linhagem Swiss, 8-10 semanas (CEUA 53/2017 UFES), os quais foram submetidos a um modelo de isquemia global/reperfusão (BCCAo) e tratados oralmente com EECL na dose de 100mg/kg. Os animais foram divididos em quatro grupos experimentais: sham veículo (salina+tween20) (SV), sham extrato (salina+tween 20 + EECL) (SE), isquemia veiculo (IV) e isquemia extrato (IE). Após recuperação anestésica, os animais receberam duas doses de EECL ou veículo com intervalo de 3 horas entre as doses e esse regime foi repetido 24hs depois. Posteriormente, a dose passou a ser única até o final dos experimentos. A quantificação da área de infarto demonstrou uma redução da área isquêmica em de 33%. O tratamento também demonstrou uma diminuição significativa nos déficits cognitivos relacionados a memória espacial e de reconhecimento de objeto. A melhora encontrada no tratamento do AVEi está possivelmente relacionada ao aumento de células imunopositivas para o marcador neuronal NeuN no ensaio Imunofluorescência em animais do grupo IE, bem como a diminuição da expressão do marcador de astrócitos ativados GFAP nesse mesmo grupo. Dessa forma, nosso estudo traz evidências promissoras da utilização do EECL no tratamento do AVEi. Abstract

The 5G mobile networks will increase the amount of available spectrum by using new licensed and unlicensed bands. However, most of the newly allocated bandwidth is restricted to higher frequencies, that provides smaller coverage. Lower frequencies, that provide higher ranges, are mostly occupied by either radio or television channels. With the move to digital television, some analog TV channels are available in specific regions, opening the possibility of frequency reuse by third parties. Geolocation databases and collaborative sensing techniques are used to locate and use the available TV Whitespaces (TVWS) for mobile transmission. This paper presents the proposal of a cognitive cycle in the ns-3 simulator (LENA/LTE), which includes collaborative sensing and a cognitive radio resource scheduler. The simulations were done considering a rural area and the results show that the implementation may be useful for further research in developing new solutions for the 5G Cognitive MAC Layer.

Abstract

Stable structures and minima energies of ArnH2O (n = 1–26) clusters are determined by carrying out a stochastic search method coupling to molecular dynamics calculations. A nonrigid intramolecular potential surface together with a pairwise-additive intermolecular potential are used. A growing pattern mechanism is described for the structures in the ground state and a solvation process is observed. Molecular relaxation effects are characterized and the second differences on the cluster binding energies are calculated. Abstract

Classical trajectories studies in Cartesian coordinates are applied to analyze Coriolis coupling for the energy transfer in H2O + Ar process. Vibrational energies equal to 50 kcal/mol and 100 kcal/mol for initial rotational temperatures in the range 298–30,000 K are used as initial conditions. Initial translational temperatures for the incoming atom are selected in the same way. Effects of rotational and translational temperatures at different initial conditions are also investigated in the molecular vibrational relaxation process. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

Cluster structures are discussed in a nonrigid analysis, using a modified minima search method based on stochastic processes and classical dynamics simulations. The relaxation process is taken into account considering the internal motion of the Cl2 molecule. Cluster structures are compared with previous works in which the Cl2 molecule is assumed to be rigid. The interactions are modeled using pair potentials: the Aziz and Lennard–Jones potentials for the Ar&bond;Ar interaction, a Morse potential for the Cl&bond;Cl interaction, and a fully spherical/anisotropic Morse–Spline–van der Waals (MSV) potential for the Ar&bond;Cl interaction. As expected, all calculated energies are lower than those obtained in a rigid approximation; one reason may be attributed to the nonrigid contributions of the internal motion of the Cl2 molecule. Finally, the growing processes in molecular clusters are discussed, and it is pointed out that the growing mechanism can be affected due to the nonrigid initial conditions of smaller clusters such as ArnCl2 (n ≤ 4 or 5), which are seeds for higher-order clusters. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

Studies were carried out with the leukocyte migration inhibition tests using soluble and particulate antigens (PPD, somatic antigens of T. cruzi, M. bovis (BCG) and leukocytes from patients sensitized to PPD and patients with chronic Chagas' disease. The results obtained showed that the stimulatory capacity of particulate antigens are greater than that of soluble antigens.
