An innovative and comprehensive experiment (named "Multimat") was successfully carried out at CERN HiRadMat facility on 18 different materials relevant for Collimators and Beam Intercepting Devices. Material samples, tested under high intensity proton pulses of 440 GeV/c, exceeding the energy density expected in HL-LHC, ranged from very light carbon foams to tungsten heavy alloys, including novel composites as graphite/carbides and metal/diamond without and with thin-film coatings. Experimental data were acquired relying on extensive integrated instrumentation (strain gauges, temperature sensors, radiation-hard camera) and on laser Doppler vibrometer. This allows investigating relatively unexplored and fundamental phenomena as dynamic strength, internal energy dispersion, nonlinearities due to inelasticity and inhomogeneity, strength and delamination of coatings and surfaces. By benchmarking sophisticated numerical simulations against these results, it is possible to establish or update material constitutive models, which are of paramount importance for the design of devices exposed to interaction with particle beams in high energy accelerators such as the HL-LHC or FCC-hh., Proceedings of the 9th Int. International audience; The GTS-LHC ECR ion source at CERN provides heavy ion beams for the chain of theaccelerators from Linac3 up to the LHC. For the lead runs the solid material is evaporatedin internal ovens. The processes within these ovens are not well understood and experiencesduring the operation suggest there is room for improvement regarding the beam stability andthe time between necessary refills.A dedicated study of the oven at a test stand and with thermal simulations will help tounderstand the link between the operational parameters and the performance of the oven toprovide the basis for a potential oven redesign.The test stand replicates partially the source environment and allows thermal as well as evaporationrate measurements. This contribution presents the latest results of the study.

Ostheoarthritis (OA) is a social disease characterized by pain, inflammation and stiffness due to an involvement of articular cartilage, soft tissues and bone. OA is the most common rheumatic disease, every age can be affected but prevalence increases dramatically with age with a greater incidence in subjects between 40 and 50 years of age. Hip OA has an important correlation with weight, genetic factors, sex, previous traumas, occupational factors and age. People older than 35 have a prevalence of Hip OA of 10,8% that becomes 35,4% in people older than 85. Knee OA has a great correlation with weight, life style and physical activity. An Italian study has demonstrated that the prevalence of this kind of OA is highest in subjects older than 65 that becomes 44% in people older than 80. In this report we explain the results of a study conducted in the South of Italy called the OstheoArtrithis Southern Italy Study (OASIS) that involved 456 doctors and 1782 patients of three different regions. The mean age of these patients was 66,3 years and we evaluated prevalence of hip, knee, hand and spine OA and correlated it to sex, age, weight and BMI. We also evaluated what kind of drugs were used for these patients. Knee OA is the most common subset of OA, the one that requires the highest number of examinations and the one that causes the greatest disability. The most common used drugs are Fans and Coxibs. Condroprotectors were not used much, probably because they are not considered to be very effective.
