Multiple studies have been carried out to analyze the mutual interaction of a phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer (Phi-OTDR) and parallel digital data traffic. However, interactions with analog transmission, e.g., community antenna television (CATV), have not been addressed. Our study examines and presents the influence of a developed sensing system Phi-OTDR when operated simultaneously on parallel fibers with the transfer of data from an analog CATV system. Three scenarios are suggested and discussed for the measurements and optimization of the data network in the analog CATV data transfer. These scenarios are suggested to enable the verification of the mutual interactions between data networks with the analog data transfer and suggested sensing system and to determine how the data network with the analog data transfer may or may not be influenced by the sensing system. The optimization and measurements prove that the analog CATV data transfer was negatively influenced by the sensing system Phi-OTDR, and the channel bit error rate increased by nearly half. The implementation of the sensing system Phi-OTDR was realized for a data network, followed by the testing and optimization, which proved that the safe spectral distance between the CATV and the sensing system is 150 GHz and higher.

Passive optical networks are dominating access networks around the world due to its their economical aspect, bandwidth, and penetration. It is necessary to deal with specification of these networks., Pasivní optické sítě jsou dominantou přístupové sítě po celém světě kvůli jejich ekonomickému aspektu, šířky pásma a penetrace. Proto je nezbytné se zabývat specifikacemi těchto sítí.

The paper theoretically describes Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) which is important parameter in high-speed optical networks. Furthermore, compensation methods and measurement principles are presented. Main attention is given to Fixed Analyzer (FA) method that uses common research laboratory equipment in setup. We performed practical measurement of the PMD by using Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) Anritsu MS9740A, in-line polarizers and a polarization controller. To verify the accuracy of measurements Reference Measurement (RM) using a modular platform EXFO FTB-200 in combination with CD/PMD module EXFO FTB-5700 was performed. Moreover, PMD etalons with defined values of delay was used for measurement. All results were evaluated in comparison with defined limit values.

Passive optical networks are widely used as a promising solution for future access networks. Currently, the bandwidth is still increasing which means the current copper networks are not able to transfer new services such as 4K video, live streaming, etc. In other words, they reached their capacity limit. The passive optical networks rely on point-to-multipoint technology. That means each customer uses a share medium by time slots. Each time slot exactly specifies who and when is able to transfer data. In general, this control mechanism is implemented in the optical network unit by worst transmission convergence layer. On the other hand, there are cases when the optical network unit (it is called rogue optical network unit) does not follow instructions provided by the optical line termination, for example, if an attacker modifies a firm ware of the end unit and/or when the control protocol is not loaded properly inside optical network unit. In worst case, the optical network unit transmits data in a continual mode (other optical network units cannot send data). The standard defines finding of the rogue optical network unit but it does not specify how the rogue optical network unit should be allocated because the frames of the rogue optical network unit do not contain the proper parameters. We realized a measurement in a real network with the rogue optical network unit and then we analyzed the captured data. A new algorithm for the rogue optical network unit allocation is presented. We do not consider any modification of the transmission convergence layer in gigabit passive optical networks., Pasivní optické sítě jsou široce používány jako perspektivní řešení pro budoucí přístupové sítě. Existují případy, kdy rogue ONU nedodržuje pokyny od OLT, například kdy útočník upraví firmware ONU jednotky nebo když řídicí protokol není správně nahrán uvnitř ONU. V nejhorším případě ONU přenáší data v kontinuálním režimu. Standard definuje zjištění Rogue ONU, ale neurčuje, jak by měly být lokalizovány rogue ONU, protože rámce rogue ONU neobsahují správné parametry. Měřením v reálné síti s rogue ONU jsme získali data. Nový algoritmus pro alokaci rogue ONU je prezentována. Jakékoliv modifikace přenosové vrstvy konvergence v GPON nejsou brány v potaz (nejsou nutné)

This paper is focused to the most frequent shortcomings of WiFi technology operators seen by monitoring of broadband data transmission in frequency bands 2.4 GHz up to 66 GHz. The used process of measuring an evaluation of measured data summarized by the devices used by Czech Telecommunication Office for inspection and supervision is performed next. The article is focused on the issues of WDM-PON networks, their simulation in environment Optisystem 9.0 and practical measurements. First is an overview of the possible variants of WDM-PON networks then are discussed possibilities of simulation and measurement of the optical spectrum analyzer. The aim of this work is an objective comparison between the outputs of simulations and practical measurements on a real network., Článek je zaměřen na problematiku WDM-PON sítí, jejich simulaci v prostředí Optisystem 9.0 a praktické měření. Nejprve je uveden přehled možných variant WDM-PON sítí, dále jsou rozebrány možnostmi simulací a měření optickým spektrálním analyzátorem. Cílem této práce je objektivní porovnání mezi výstupy simulací a praktickým měřením na reálné síti.

Článek je zaměřen na problematiku měření v optických přístupových sítích. Cílem bude poukázat na nutnost měření přenosových parametrů nejen po kompletní instalaci, ale již během výstavby. The aim will be to highlight the need for measurements of transmission parameters not only after a full installation, but during construction of networks. First, we recapitulate the measurement methods used in practice. We mainly deal with the measurement possibilities in networks with optical splitters. Tento článek pojednává o měření přenosových parametrů optické sítě brněnských univerzit. Tato síť propojuje univerzity, nemocnice, soudy a vládní instituce. Z důvodu rostoucích požadavků na přenosové rychlosti a zajištění požadované kvality služeb je plánován přechod na novější technologie založené na vlnovém multiplexu. Před nasazením vysokorychlostních systémů bylo potřeba provést kontrolní měření za účelem ověření přenosových vlastností sítě. Bylo provedeno měření vložného útlumu a disperzních vlivů. V článku se budeme zabývat chromatickou a polarizační vidovou disperzí. Kromě možností měření těchto parametrů zde budou také probrány jejich vlivy na optický komunikační systém., This paper discusses the measurement of the transmission parameters of the Brno academical computer network. This network connects universities, hospitals, courts and government institutions. Due to growing demands for data rates and ensure the required quality of service is planning to migrate to newer technologies based on wavelength multiplexing. Before deploying high-speed is necessary to make control measurements to verify the transmission characteristics of the network. Were measured insertion loss and dispersion effects. In the paper we will deal with chromatic and polarization mode dispersion. In addition to measuring these parameters here are also discussed their influence on optical communication system.
