This study aims to evaluate. in the course of one year. the role of physical therapy and occupational therapy intervention. in association of specific drug therapy versus only drug therapy. in patients with osteoporosis. The study was carried out between April 2022 and June 2024, on 94 patients with osteoporosis. selected from the Clinical Rehabilitation Hospital in Băile Felix. All subjects signed an informed consent form 46 subjects followed drug therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy (study group) and 46 subjects had only drug therapy (control group). The following parameters were assessed: the decrease in height. bone mineral density (BMD) - the T score and the Qualeffo test for the quality of life. Between groups analysis showed that in the study group. The post-test values of the total Qualeffo score decrease significantly and showed a smaller decrease in height compared to control group. Regarding BMD there is no significant difference between the study group compared to control group. The results of the study suggest that a specific physiotherapy can cause significant improvements both of quality of life and vertebral static disorders. As far as BMD is concerned rehabilitation has only a limiting effect of braking its decrease.

(1) Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic progressive neurological disorder which affects the central nervous system (CNS), can result in disorders of all the functions controlled by the CNS: motor, sensory, cognitive and emotional. Physical therapy (PT), conducted through proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) techniques, can be customized to the individual patient’s needs and has the potential to improve the patient’s evolution. This study aims to establish if PT based on PNF techniques has a beneficial role in MS treatment. (2) Methods: We performed a prospective study on 40 patients who were diagnosed with MS and previously treated only with MS drug treatment (DT). These patients have participated in a PT program throughout one year. At the beginning and at the end of our study, after one year, we have assessed the following parameters: timed walk for 25 feet (Timed 25-Foot Walk test- T25FW test), dexterity of the upper limbs (9-Hole Peg Test—9HPT), disability level (Expanded Disability Status Scale—EDSS) and cognitive function (Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test—PASAT. (3) Results: In subjects in the early stages of MS, lower limb mobility improved significantly, T25FW decreasing from 6.46 to 5.80 (p < 0.001) and upper limb ability increased significantly in the dominant hand, 9HPT decreasing from 17.73 to 16.97 (p = 0.006) and not significantly in the non-dominant hand, 9HPT decreasing from 17.73 to 17.50 (p = 0.255). Furthermore, among these subjects, cognitive performance improved; their PASAT increased from 52.14 to 54.14 (p = 0.036), while the level of disability of these subjects improved only slightly, the EDSS scale evolving from 3.08 to 2.91 (p = 0.650). (4) Conclusions: In patients with early forms of MS, combining DT with a PT program based on PNF techniques results in: regaining muscle strength in the lower limbs, improving coordination while walking, correcting dexterity in the upper limbs and increasing the ability to concentrate.

(1) Background: Fish is a good source of protein, iron, and zinc, which are key nutrients for infant growth and development, as well as a source of energy for adults and the elderly. Due to mercury contamination in both the terrestrial and aquatic environments, there is a risk that considerable levels of mercury will be ingested by the population, causing undesired illnesses and metabolic symptoms once they reach the body. The purpose of this research was to show and emphasize the hazardous effect of mercury in diverse marine products; (2) Methods: We conducted a comparative, open, randomized, non-interventional study on a study group of 119 adults from varied social and demographic backgrounds to assess the bad repercussions of mercury poisoning from fish consumption. A questionnaire with 18 questions was prepared in order to obtain information about the impact, i.e., the dangers present in fish meat. The research was carried out in Oradea and Bihor County, Romania; (3) Results: The largest age group was between the ages of 25–34, but we had respondents from almost all age groups. Most of them considered the fish healthy (30%) and that the omega-3 fatty acids have beneficial effects on the body (25.10%). More than a half of respondents (55%) were unaware of the hidden danger in fish meat in the form of mercury derivatives. Most respondents (65%) considered that they did not consume enough amounts of fish to suffer the consequences of this phenomenon. More than a half of respondents (59%) agreed that they should have been made aware beforehand by displaying the hazards of excessive intake of some high mercury concentration fish species; (4) Conclusions: It is imperative that the population be informed about dangers of mercury toxicity when consuming fish. Mercury must be gradually eliminated worldwide by replacing it with safer alternatives.

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is one of the most studied compartments of the human body as it hosts the largest microbial community including trillions of germs. The relationship between the human and its associated flora is complex, as the microbiome plays an important role in nutrition, metabolism and immune function. With a dynamic composition, influenced by many intrinsic and extrinsic factors, there is an equilibrium maintained in the composition of GI microbiota, translated as “eubiosis”. Any disruption of the microbiota leads to the development of different local and systemic diseases. This article reviews the human GI microbiome’s composition and function in healthy individuals as well as its involvement in the pathogenesis of different digestive disorders. It also highlights the possibility to consider flora manipulation a therapeutic option when treating GI diseases.
