11. Locally frozen magnetic field in HTSC ceramics

Abstract

The value of a locally frozen magnetic field in a region with a diameter of 0.5 mm in a 0.5-mm-thick YBa2Cu3O7-x plate was investigated as a function of the excitation field (to 2x10^4 A/m), plate cooling mode (in the absence or presence of a field; i.e., zero-field cooling (ZFC) or field coupling (FC)), and local demagnetizing field. Analysis of the measurement results in the noted range of excitation fields showed the following: (i) the dependence on the excitation field for the ZFC mode is explained by the local inhomogeneity of critical currents of weak links in the ceramic Josephson medium and is limited by their maximum value at the temperature of the experiment (77 K); (ii) the dependence on the excitation field for the FC mode contains a portion of the magnetic phase transition from the frozen current structure, typical of the initial portion of the dependence, to the current structure characteristic of the ZFC freezing mode, and is limited by this transition; and (iii) the dependence on the demagnetizing field for the ZFC mode can be explained by the stable coexistence (without annihilation) of microscopic current loops with opposite current directions in the ceramics., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

In this paper the experience of organizing the project work of students and postgraduates on a nanosatellite and a payload module for it is described. Such projects have a great importance for the training of small spacecraft engineers, because the designed nano satellite is not only launched on Earth's orbit, but it is functioned there. The inclusion of both full-experiments and numerical models in the leaning course helps to form students and postgraduates understanding that full-scale experiments and numerical modeling are not mutually exclusive approaches, but on the contrary, they are complementing each other. Представлены результаты теоретических и экспериментальных исследований частотно-перестраиваемого устройства на основе многослойного полосково-щелевого (МПЩ) перехода с П-образным щелевым резонатором. Использование данного устройства позволяет реализовать резонансный метод измерения диэлектрических свойств материалов в сверхвысокочастотном диапазоне. Теоретические исследования заключаются в проведении численного моделирования в строгой постановке электродинамической задачи, направленной на определение характеристик МПЩ-перехода с П-образным щелевым резонатором переменной длины. Результаты численного моделирования доказывают возможность применения МПЩ-перехода с П-образным щелевым резонатором переменной длины для реализации резонансного метода измерения диэлектрических свойств материалов в указанном диапазоне частот. Экспериментальные исследования проведены на макете МПЩ-перехода с П-образным щелевым резонатором переменной длины в диапазоне частот (850–1250) МГц. Оценка его резонансных свойств осуществлялась при использовании векторного анализатора цепей OBZOR TR1300/1. В качестве исследуемого материала использовался материал BaFe10Ti2O19. Результаты теоретических и экспериментальных исследований находятся в хорошем количественном и качественном согласовании. The paper presents the results of theoretical and experimental researches of a frequency-tunable device based on the multilayer strip-slot transition with the U-shaped slot resonator of the variable length. The application of the presented device makes it possible to implement a resonant method for measuring the dielectric properties of materials in the microwave frequency range. The numerical simulation in the rigorous formulation of the electrodynamics problem is performed for the theoretical research. The aim of the theoretical research is to determine the electrical characteristics of the multilayer strip-slot transition with the U-shaped slot resonator of the variable length. The results of numerical simulation prove the possibility of applying the multilayer stripslot transition with the U-shaped slot resonator of the variable length to implement the resonant method for measuring the dielectric properties of materials in the microwave frequency range. The experimental research is performed on the sample of the multilayer strip-slot transition with the U-shaped slot resonator of the variable length in the frequency range (850–1250) MHz. Measurements of S-parameters of the multilayer strip-slot transition with the U-shaped slot resonator of the variable length are accomplished using the vector network analyzer. The material under research is BaFe10Ti2O19. The results of theoretical and experimental researches are in good qualitative and quantitative agreement.

Abstract

State of problem. Today a significant part of passive microwave electronic devices is implemented in the form of single-layer structures. In some cases such approach leads to an increase in the overall dimensions characteristics of electronic equipment. Moreover the application of singlelayer microwave boards leads to the complexity of replacing individual functional units. Therefore the replacement of the entire microwave board is required to improve any of its functional part. It is nonprofit economically and inefficient technologically. Significant progress in eliminating the above mentioned disadvantages may be achieved by the application of volume-modular technology of design microwave electronic devices. Purpose. The purpose of the research is to present a brief overview of the features of the application of volume-modular technology in the design of microwave electronic devices of modern radio-electronic equipment. The volume-modular way of implementing microwave devices is described. It allows improving their weight and overall dimension characteristics and at the same time maintaining and increasing their functionality. The basic principles of design of volumemodular microwave electronic devices are formulated. The results of numerical simulation of the electrodynamics characteristics of a strip-slot transition are presented. The method for quantitative assessment of the influence of volume-modular technology on the weight and dimensions characteristics of microwave electronic devices is considered. The main advantages and disadvantages of volume-modular technology are listed. Results. We demonstrate a possibility of reducing the overall dimensions characteristics of passive microwave electronic devices by more than 10 times while maintaining their electrical parameters. Each component is presented in the form of a structurally separate and complete board with unified overall and connecting dimensions. Описывается объемно-модульный способ реализации СВЧ устройств, позволяющий улучшить их массогабаритные характеристики и при этом сохранить и увеличить их функциональные возможности. Сформулированы основные принципы построения объемно-модульных СВЧ электронных устройств и приведены результаты численного моделирования электродинамических характеристик полосково-елевого перехода – основного базового их элемента. Рассмотрен способ количественной оценки влияния объемно-модульной технологии на массогабаритные характеристики СВЧ электронных устройств. Перечислены основные преимущества и недостатки объемно-модульной технологии.
