This paper aims to delve into the determinants contributing to carbon dioxide emissions in the context of industrial revolution 5.0, focusing on Singapore as a case study. The article combines a review of the existing literature, an analysis of the Singaporean environmental landscape, and empirical findings to shed light on this critical issue. The empirical study shows that electricity consumption and foreign direct investment significantly negatively affect environmental pollution in Singapore; fossil fuel and import positively influence ecological pollution. New Zealand relies on imported fossil fuels for about 38% of its primary energy. The country's energy demand is expected to grow due to population and economic growth, which will put more pressure on the energy system. Besides, resource scarcity, energy price volatility, and environmental challenges have made energy security a major concern for New Zealand and other countries. Given the lack of significant research on the effects of energy security factors in New Zealand, this study aims to shed light on the primary determinants of energy security using the dynamic autoregressive distributed lag method based on time series data from 1978 to 2021. The study found that a long-run link exists between energy security and energy intensity (energy efficiency), renewable energy use, fossil fuel consumption, and global oil prices. Real GDP, renewable energy consumption, and energy security were found to improve energy security, while fossil fuel consumption and world oil prices had a negative impact. The study also revealed a one-way causality from real GDP, fossil fuel consumption, and renewable energy use to energy security. In contrast, the relationship between energy intensity and energy security is bidirectional. Simulation results showed that global crude oil prices have a lower impact on energy security compared to other variables and are most responsive to a 5% shock in fossil fuel consumption, followed by economic growth. This current study contributes to the extant literature by providing the first empirical evidence on the functional relationship between fossil fuel consumption, environmental pollution, and mortality rate in selected fossil fuels‐dependent nations in sub‐Saharan African countries with the moderating role of healthcare expenditures from 1982 to 2021. The empirical evidence relies on a battery of techniques comprising fully modified ordinary least squares, dynamic ordinary least squares, and panel quartile regression estimators. In order to establish sturdy empirical insights, fossil fuel is proxy by four indices including oil, coal, natural gas (at the disaggregated level), and fossil fuel (at the aggregated level). Mortality rate is also disaggregated into mortality rate, adult male, mortality rate, adult female, and infant mortality rate. Based on this disaggregation, the findings from the study reveal the following: First, the indicators for fossil fuel consumption have positive statistically significant impact on all three measures of mortality rate. Second, environmental pollution positively impacts the three indicators of mortality rate. Third, healthcare expenditure significantly reduces mortality rate, while its interaction with fossil fuel consumption moderates their unfavorable impacts on mortality rate. Fourth, with the exception of natural gas, the indicators of fossil fuel consumption and environmental pollution exert unfavorable impacts on mortality rate across all the quartiles. Emerging from these empirical findings, the study recommends promotion of cleaner sources of energy while at the same time improving healthcare expenditure as an interim measure pending full transition to renewable energy towards the attainment of a good health outcome in sub‐Saharan Africa countries. This research analyzes the impact of economic expansion, non-renewable energy consumption (NonREC), financial sector improvement, and carbon releases in Ghana. The study used yearly data from 1971 to 2014 and applied the Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) method to examine the data. The NARDL approach facilitated the differentiation of variables into favorable and unfavorable adjustments by examining the short- and long-run effects. The results indicated that all the independent variables exhibited short-term asymmetries, while economic growth presented long-term asymmetry. Negative adjustments in economic expansion led to a decline in carbon releases in the long run but an increase in the short run. favorable and unfavorable adjustments in NonREC positively and negatively impact carbon releases in both the short and long term. Additionally, negative adjustments in financial development positively affected carbon releases in the long run. The cumulative dynamic multipliers graphs and impulse response function graphs illustrate the same impact pattern of the independent variables on carbon releases, confirming the findings' robustness. The study suggests implementing environmental policies in Ghana that promote renewable sources of energy and energy-conserving innovations to reduce environmental degradation. The findings recommend that the decision-maker prioritize effective environmental strategies like a green economy, renewable energy use, and energy-saving technologies. The increase in CO2 emissions has led to a rise in global temperatures. The rising CO2 emissions in ASEAN need further examination concerning the variables influencing this increase. This study aims to test and obtain empirical evidence on the determinants of CO2 emissions in six ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) during the period 2000–2021. The factors considered in this study include Economic Growth (GGDP), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Total Population (POP), Fossil Energy Consumption (EF), and Renewable Energy Consumption (GET). This research employs panel data regression using both time series and cross-sectional data. The Chow and Hausman tests were conducted to determine the appropriate model, and the fixed-effect model was selected as the best fit. This research demonstrates that GET has an insignificant relationship with CO2 emissions, whereas GGDP, FDI, POP, and EF have significant relationships with CO2 emissions. In conclusion, considering all the independent variables in this study that affect CO2 emissions, future efforts should focus on finding ways to control these variables to reduce CO2 emissions.

This paper investigates the time-varying effects of fossil fuel consumption on CO2 emissions in India utilizing the time-varying cointegration test, allowing for multivariate long-run time-varying cointegration parameter developed by Bierens and Martins (2010) and the time-varying vector autoregressive (TVP-VAR) model developed by Primiceri (2005). The long-run time-varying coefficients reveal that GDP has a positive and increasing impact on CO2 emissions over time. Moreover, results confirm the polluting effects of all fossil fuels. Besides, the TVP-VAR model findings also demonstrate that changes in income and fossil fuel consumption have a positive and significant impact on environmental degradation. Coal is found to be the most polluting fuel, followed by oil consumption. Researchers and governments are debating whether to use renewable energy sources or fossil fuels. The impact of the final decision on developed and developing regions is either the same or different. To investigate the answers to these issues, the current study used panel data for the US economy from 1985 to 2020. Following preliminary diagnostic testing, the researchers discovered that the data is stationary at the level and has long-run cointegration. Furthermore, the influence of economic growth (GDP), nonrenewable energy (EU), and renewable energy consumption was investigated using the quantile regression approach (REC). The analysis discovered that the impact of GDP and the EU on carbon emissions is lowest in industrialized countries and highest in underdeveloped countries. However, the corrective influence of REC on carbon emissions is lowest in industrialized countries and highest in developing regions. Although the GDP and EU have less influence on carbon emissions, the corrective effect of REC is also the least; consequently, policymakers should encourage the aggregate production system to use more REC than the EU as a sustainable alternative. In recent year, Asia has rapid economic growth and policy makers care about the renewable energy consumption. The motivation about the choice of variables with theory and empirical backing on the subject in the manuscript is the theory of Cobb- Douglas function and determinants of renewable energy consumption in the Asian countries. This paper investigates the nexus of electricity consumption, fossil fuel consumption, foreign direct investment inflows, economic growth, and renewable energy consumption in Asian countries. Utilizing panel data analysis, the study finds significant interrelationships among these factors and highlights their implications for energy policy and sustainable development in the region. This article aims to use the Cobb- Douglas Model to analyze the factors affecting renewable energy consumption at Asian developed countries for sustainable development goals. This study collected data from World Bank in the period 2000–2020 of 06 developed countries such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel and China. The empirical research results show that the electricity consumption, fossil fuel consumption, foreign direct investment inflows, economic growth affect the environmental pollution in 06 Asian developed countries. The electricity consumption, foreign direct investment inflows, economic growth positively affect to the renewable energy consumption. If the electricity consumption increases 1 % then the renewable energy consumption up 0.6 %; if the foreign direct investment inflows up 1 % then the renewable energy consumption up 0.82 %; If the economic growth up 1 % then renewable energy up 2.73 %. In addition, fossil fuel consumption negatively affects the renewable energy consumption. If the fossil fuel consumption increases 1 % then the renewable energy consumption down 0.26 %. The paper offers conclusions and recommendations for Asian countries to address these interconnected issues and transition towards a more sustainable energy future.

The global warming phenomenon has been an issue of considerable discussion and debate among academics and decision-makers over the past few decades. Therefore, a deeper comprehension of the relationships between environmental deterioration and its causes is necessary in nations that rely on fossil fuels. This study examines the relationship between per capita carbon dioxide emissions and total natural resources, nonrenewable energy, industrialization, and ecological footprint from 2001 to 2020 in the case of major fossil fuel–consuming countries. The most recent panel Granger causality and panel-corrected standard error (PCSE) simulation models are used in this study. The findings indicate that natural resources, ecological footprint, and registered companies impede environmental quality. Similarly, the same results were noted by employing the generalized least square method. A feedback effect was noted between carbon dioxide emission and ecological footprint, while unidirectional causality between coal consumption and carbon emission. In light of these findings, it is advised that instead of pursuing policies that encourage the use of coal and petroleum, new energy policies enhance the share of nonfossil fuels in the energy mix for controlling rapid industrialization, extraction of natural resources, and environmental and economic issues. Since the debate concerning economic growth, energy consumption, and environmental degradation is a burning issue in the last few decades. Yet the outcomes are controversial and requires more empirical work. This study used novel research methods to investigate the said issue in case of China since is the leading energy importing and pollution emitting economy. The time series data covers the period from 1969 to 2018 is analyzed via employing the novel Quantile-on-Quantile regression methods. The estimated results unveil that fossil fuel consumption significantly enhances carbon emissions in the country in the lower and middle quantiles. Besides, the economic growth showed an inverted U-shaped impact on the carbon emissions, where the lower-medium quantiles showed positive and the upper quantiles exhibit negative impact on carbon emissions. Besides, the positive association between economic growth and fossil fuel emissions are also evident in the analysis. The Granger causality indicates that there is a bidirectional causality between the study variables – validating that economic growth and fossil fuel consumption are the primary sources of increased emissions level. On the basis of empirical results, this study suggests the adoption of energy efficient/saving products and services, diverting economic growth to renewable and environmentally friendly energy resources, technological innovation and increased investment in the research and development to reduce dependency on fossil fuel energy consumption and attain low carbon economy. In order to fulfill the commitment of China to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, all industries have been taking their respective carbon reduction actions. The transportation industry accounts for 11% of CO2 emission of the whole society, and its energy conservation and carbon reduction benefit is of great significance to the national carbon reduction process. New energy vehicles are undoubtedly one of the most important means of carbon emission reduction in the transportation sector. However, electric vehicles still have CO2 emissions, as the fossil fuel use comes from upstream power. To systematically and comprehensively evaluate the CO2 emissions of HEV, PHEV and BEV in the whole process, this study introduces the life-cycle method to research on the past and current situations, and predict future scenarios for ICEV and EV light-duty vehicles at the national and regional levels, by deeply analyzing the generation mix and generating efficiency from the WTT stage, and fuel economy from the TTW stage. The study shows that compared with ICEV, HEV and PHEV could reduce around 30% of CO2 emissions. Currently, BEV could reduce 37% of CO2 emission in the region where the proportion of coal-fired power is high, and 90% of CO2 emission in the region where the proportion of hydro power is high. This study discusses the impact of the proportion of renewable energy application on the carbon emissions from electric vehicles, analyzes the environmental benefits of promoting electric vehicles in different regions, and lays a foundation for the promotion strategy of electric vehicles for different regions in the future. Recently, policymakers have been developing some policies to improve environmental quality. Environmental taxes are the most important of these policies. This study examines the effects of transport taxes, economic growth, and fossil fuel energy consumption on air pollution within the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis framework. The study used data from 1994 to 2019 for the ten countries with the highest transport tax revenues. According to the results, while the EKC hypothesis is valid for Portugal and Switzerland, it is not valid for all other countries. Moreover, fossil fuel energy consumption seems to increase air pollution in all countries except the Netherlands and Switzerland. However, transport taxes increase air pollution in Brazil. Therefore, transport taxes are not effective in reducing air pollution. In this context, it was concluded that the structure of transport taxes should be improved or reformed. In addition, it has been underlined that those national decisions alone will not be sufficient to improve transport taxes or environmental taxes. Therefore, regulations to be made with international coordination will be more successful in combating environmental problems by preventing tax competition and increasing tax harmonization. Energy plays an imperative role in global economies, such that products and services are generally dependent on energy use. This study leads to the application of environmental policies under green research and development (R&D) investment in Pakistan. Existing research has tried to analyze the effects of R&D investment associated with patent applications using the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method called PATENT. The objective of this method is to examine the variations in R&D activities motivated by the reduction of fossil fuel power. The research contributes the following: (1) the R&D reaction is the main factor in raising the number of patent applications, while R&D efficiency needs more enhancements. (2) Reaction and production effects are imperative in raising the number of patent applications during the study period. (3) R&D expenditure presents a significant rise in renewable energy technologies (RETs), by 6.7% yearly, which ultimately impacts the economy, sustainability, and the environment. (4) Energy intensity shows a lowering trend in economic development, which confirms that that share of energy will decline, and that Pakistan will move towards significant contributions. Finally, the results show that raising R&D investments, technology transfer and engendered measures are the authentic approaches to Pakistan's environmental and economic development. Based on the analyzed method, the study recommends that environmental regulation policies' efficiency be incremented by investing and joining them with RETs. Electricity generation through renewable energy sources such as wind energy has been growing in recent years due to several reasons including free and infinite resources as well as their considerable impact on the reduction of fossil fuels consumptions as well as CO2 emissions. This paper aims to assess the impact of grid-connected large-scale wind farms in a region located in Iran, on the reduction of natural gas as well as gasoil fuel consumptions in heat-cycle power plants and their related CO2 emissions as a practical case study. The wind farms under study comprise about 51% of the total grid connected capacity of wind power generation in Iran by the end of March 2021. The total energy yielded by the studied wind farms are first extracted over a two-year period from April 2019 to March 2021 based on a detailed practical data and then, its impact is investigated on the reduction of natural gas and gasoil consumptions in a real heat-cycle power plant due to its practical fuel intake data. Finally, the reduction of CO2 emission is calculated as the result of reduction in the natural gas and gasoil consumptions of the considered heat-cycle power plant. The results of this practical case study well demonstrate the effective role of wind farms energy yields on the reduction of fossil fuels consumption in heat-cycle power plants and thus, the significant reduction of CO2 emission as one of the most crucial aspects of decarbonization and fossil fuel phase out plans.

This study aims to explore the relationship among economic growth, CO2 emissions, fossil fuels consumption, renewable energy consumption, foreign direct investments, and trade by taking into account countries with oil reserves (export groups) and countries without oil reserves (import group). The factors affecting CO2 emissions in countries with and without oil production have been investigated by using Panel VAR (PVAR) and Granger causality methods for the period of 1990–2015. In both country groups, growth positively affects CO2 emissions. While there is a negative relationship between CO2 emission and foreign direct investments in the oil importing country group, there is a positive relationship between CO2 and trade in the oil-exporting group. PVAR analysis results illustrate that the growth hypothesis is valid in both groups of countries. In addition, when both country group examined, the countries sacrifice their national income to reduce carbon emissions, which makes it difficult to reduce emissions in the world. According to the variance decomposition results, while the CO2 variable defines itself as 98% for oil importing countries, the second important variable that pollutes the air is GDP. Purpose: In this paper, the authors investigate that the increasing level of fossil fuel combustion in the industrial sector has been considered the prime cause for the emissions of greenhouse gas. Meanwhile, the research focusing on the impact of fossil fuel consumption on the emission of CO2 is limited for the developing countries containing Vietnam. This study applied the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach with structural breaks presence, and the Bayer–Hanck combined cointegration method to observe the rationality of the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis in the dynamic relationship between the industrialization and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission in Vietnam, capturing the role of foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and the fossil fuel consumption over the period of 1975–2019. The outcomes revealed the confirmation of cointegration among the variables and both short and long-run regression parameters indicated the evidence for the presence of a U-shaped association between the level of industrial growth and CO2 emission that is further confirmed by employing the Lind and Mehlum U-test for robustness purpose. The results of Granger causality discovered a unidirectional causality from FDI and fossil fuel consumption to CO2 emission in the short run. For the policy points, this study suggests the use of efficient and low carbon-emitting technologies. Design/methodology/approach: In order to test for consistency and robustness of the cointegration analysis, this study also applied the ARDL bound testing method to find out long-run association among variables with the existence of the structural break in the dataset. The ARDL method was preferred to other traditional cointegration models; because of the smaller dataset, the results obtained from the ARDL method are efficient and consistent and equally appropriate for I(1) and I(0) variables. Findings: The short-run and long-run causal associations among variables have been observed by employing the error correction term (ECT) augmented Granger-causality test that revealed the presence of the long-run causality among variables only when the CO2 emission is employed as a dependent variable. The outcomes for short-run causality indicated the presence of unidirectional causality between consumption of fossil fuel and CO2 emission, where the fossil fuel consumptions Granger-cause CO2 emission. Industrial growth has also been found to have an impact on fossil fuel consumptions, however not the opposite. This advocates that the policies aimed at reducing the fossil fuel consumptions would not be harmful to industrial growth as other energy efficient and cleaner technology could be implemented by the firms to substitute the fossil fuel usage. Originality/value: The study explored the dynamic relationship among FDI, consumption of fossil fuel, industrial growth and the CO2 emission in Vietnam for the time period 1975–2019. The adverse impacts of climate change have occupied central theme of many policy initiatives. This paper investigated the impact of economic development, fossil fuel consumptions and population density on CO2 in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh using annual data over the period 1971–2014. We have applied panel Autoregressive distributed lags model to estimate the long‐run dynamics and Vector error correction model specified Granger causality test for finding the causality direction. Using three multivariate equations model, the empirical outcome of our study has established key associations that have crucial policy implications. Firstly, the results of auto‐regressive distributed lags (ARDL) confirmed the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis that the relationship between CO2 and economic development is U‐shaped. Moreover, fossil fuel consumption and population density have a positive impact on CO2 emission in the long run. VECM test evidence suggests that short‐run causalities from economic development to CO2, population density to CO2 and fossil fuel consumption to CO2 exist. Secondly, CO2 has a negative impact on economic development while the impacts of fossil fuel, FDI and total exports on economic development have been significantly positive in the long run. In short run, CO2, fossil fuel consumption and FDI Granger cause economic development. Lastly, CO2 emission negatively influences population density while economic development positively affects population density in long run. Moreover, short‐run causalities from economic development to population density and CO2 to population density exit. For policy drives, efficient and low carbon emission technologies should be used. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as an economic cooperation, provides interaction between the relevant countries and China. This cooperation between the BRI economies is basically aimed at increasing economic development. However, economic cooperation affects humanity in many ways, such as job creation, economic growth, environmental changes, and changes in the consumption of energy. Among these changes, considerable attention has been drawn to CO2 emissions arising from economic growth and its related environmental changes. This attention is vital in order to achieve the UN sustainable development goal 13: urgent action to combat climate change and regulations for the emissions of CO2. Thus, this study explores the determinants of CO2 emissions along the BRI, taking into consideration if countries are net importers or exporters of incarnated carbon dioxide. The econometrics applied indicated the presence of slope heterogeneity and cross-sectional dependencies across the various panels. Applying the Westerlund bootstrap co-integration unveiled the presence of a long-run equilibrium association among the variables. The results from the dynamic common correlated estimator (DCCE) revealed that the contribution weight (order of importance) to CO2 emissions varies across panel clusters. The causality results unveiled a bidirectional causation in all panels between economic growth and CO2 emissions. Trade openness and CO2 emissions have a bidirectional effect in the belt and road and net exporters of incarnated carbon dioxide panels. Based on the results obtained, the policy implications suggested that (a) energy transition from fossil fuel usage to renewables will play a crucial role in mitigating economic growth's environmental pressures and (b) governments along the BRI could also implement subsidy swaps involving the transfer of government aid from oil and coal gas to renewable sources, including wind and solar. Environmental degradation has been identified as a major worldwide concern in recent decades, with CO2 emissions considered as one of the primary drivers of this catastrophe. This study creatively analyzes the underlying impact of wind and solar energy generation, economic development, fossil fuel consumption on CO2 emissions to mitigate the environmental degradation in the world’s top three largest energy consumers and CO2 emitters nations namely, China, India, and the USA. To investigate the integrated impact of CO2 emission, a grey relational analysis (GRA) technique is adopted for the year 1990–2017. The Grey technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (G-TOPSIS) technique was employed for further optimization by prioritizing the explanatory factors that have potential influence on CO2 emissions in the selected nations. The outcomes through the GRA technique discovered that India is a major contributor of carbon emission caused by economic development, and China appeared to be the more afflicted nation for raising its carbon emissions owing to fossil fuel consumption. Whereas, the generation of solar and wind energy are grounded factors in the reduction of carbon emissions for China and the USA. In addition, the generation of wind energy showed a considerable impact in the reduction of CO2 emissions, based on the G-TOPSIS analysis. This suggests that reducing CO2 emissions would require a compendious transition from nonrenewable to renewable resources, while the United States and China appear to be on a more promising direction to environmental sustainability than India. As a growing renewable energy pioneer, India should increase the utilization of minimal carbon sources of energy in its electricity grid while limiting its reliance on fossil fuels. The findings of the study potentially aid governments and policymakers in making better decisions and investments to mitigate CO2 emissions while fostering a more environmentally friendly atmosphere.

The increase in greenhouse gas emission has a major global issue, catching the attention of the researcher and policymakers around the world. The combustion of fossil fuel is the main cause of the rising greenhouse gas emission particularly in developing countries including Vietnam. Meanwhile, the purpose of the study is to evaluate the linkage between fossil fuel consumption, financial development, industrial progression, and CO2 emission over the period from 1970 to 2019, particularly in Vietnam. The study applied the ARDL econometric technique and Bayer-Hanck cointegration approach with structural break to confirm long run relationship and the EKC hypothesis between industrial growth and CO2 emission, in Vietnam, which assume the U-shaped link between CO2 emission and industrial growth in Vietnam. Which further confirmed by Lind and Mehlum U test in addition, the Granger causality exists between fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emission in both short run and long run. The causal relationship is unidirectional in the short run running from fossil fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission; therefore, the study proposed to adopt low-carbon emission technology. Objectives: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic led to the expansion of virtual medicine as a method to provide patient care. We aimed to determine the impact of pediatric and young adult virtual medicine use on fossil fuel consumption, greenhouse gas, and nongreenhouse traffic-related air pollutant emissions., Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of all virtual medicine patients at a single quaternary-care children's hospital with a geocoded address in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts prior to (March 16, 2019-March 15, 2020) and during the COVID-19 pandemic (March 16, 2020-March 15, 2021). Primary outcomes included patient travel distance, gasoline consumption, carbon dioxide and fine particulate matter emissions as well as savings in main hospital energy use., Results: There were 3,846 and 307,273 virtual visits performed with valid Massachusetts geocoded addresses prior to and during the COVID-19 pandemic, respectively. During 1 year of the pandemic, virtual medicine services resulted in a total reduction of 620,231 gallons of fossil fuel use and $1,620,002 avoided expenditure as well as 5,492.9 metric tons of carbon dioxide and 186.3 kg of fine particulate matter emitted. There were 3.1 million fewer kilowatt hours used by the hospital intrapandemic compared to the year prior. Accounting for equipment emissions, the combined intrapandemic emission reductions are equivalent to the electricity required by 1,234 homes for 1 year., Conclusions: Widespread pediatric institutional use of virtual medicine provided environmental benefits. Energy transition as the issue of striving to use more environmentally friendly energy sources instead of fossil fuels is a crucial debate for scholars. A key point is how macroeconomic variables can accelerate the energy transition movement in different regions, which may lead to similarities in energy transition patterns among various regions. The main purpose of this study is to determine how energy transition patterns depend on economic variables in Asian economies, classifying based on their income level. To this end, we collected the related variables for 45 economies in Asia over the period 1993–2018 and conducted estimation using the generalized method of moments (GMM) approach. The major results revealed that economic growth has a positive relationship with the energy transition, while CO2 emissions negatively influence energy transition. Furthermore, in both sub-sample groups (i.e., high and upper-middle-income and low and lower-middle-income groups) an increase in population lows the energy transition process. As an important recommendation, Asian economies with different income levels need different policies to improve and accelerate the energy transition movements. Especially in the developing and emerging economies that have higher economic growth rate and more energy demand, the governments need to implement various supportive policies for easing the access to electricity from green resources in line with the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This is more essential in the current low oil price era.

This study examined the influence of fossils fuel energy consumption, economic growth, financial development, and FDI in Nigeria. The study applies the ARDL technique over the period from 1981-2014. Result of the bound test indicates that the variables are cointegrated. The estimates of the short-run result reveal that all the variable are positive and significant in explaining Carbon dioxide emissions. The long-run analysis shows that FFC, GDP, and FD increased CO2 emissions. The study suggests that the policymakers in Nigeria should embark policies on efficient energy use that simultaneously promotes economic growth and environmental quality through the use of other forms of renewable energy like solar, and wind. Abstract CO 2 (carbon dioxide) emissions from fossil fuels have turned out one of the most perilous and complex issues driving the climate change debate. The issue of increasing demand for electricity at the same time reducing CO2 emissions has become important worldwide. This study evaluates the CO 2 emissions from the power sector of Pakistan during 1978–2017 using Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index technique and scenario analysis. We estimate LMDI to check the change under prearranged elements. According to results, the shift in population, activity effects, and gross domestic product are the essential factors in charge of the increase in CO 2 emissions while carbon intensity and energy intensity effects participate in cutting emissions. Finally, scenario analysis found overall activity increases due to population and intensity of CO 2 emissions, but carbon intensity could be reduced by using cleaner energy technologies. The findings suggest that CO 2 emissions will possibly arrive at 277.9 Mt in 2035 in Pakistan. In relation with the main findings, some targeted policies suggestions are provided. This paper inspects the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) in various transport sectors in 13 European Union (EU) countries. The study uses the augmented mean group estimator (AMG) estimator to examine the relationships between carbon (CO 2) emissions, income, and energy consumption of four transport modes, such as road, maritime, rail, and air, between 1995 and 2019. The outcomes illustrate that the EKC hypothesis is valid for six countries in air transport, four in maritime transport, three in rail transport, and six in road transport. In addition, the findings indicate that fossil fuels significantly increase CO 2 emissions from transportation modes. In light of the study's findings, EU countries should improve energy efficiency in the transportation sector to become carbon neutral by 2050. In order to ensure an environmental balance between transport modes, policymakers should support innovative activities to increase renewable fuel consumption. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article describes data modified from three publicly available data sources: the World Bank׳s World Development Indicators (http://databank.worldbank.org/data/reports.aspx?source=world-development-indicators), the U.S. Energy Information Administration׳s International Energy Statistics (http://www.eia.gov/cfapps/ipdbproject/IEDIndex3.cfm?tid=44&pid=44&aid=2) and the Barro-Lee Educational Attainment Dataset (http://www.barrolee.com). These data can be used to examine the relationships between economic growth and different forms of energy consumption. The dataset is made publicly available to promote further analyses.

In recent year, Asia has rapid economic growth and policy makers care about the renewable energy consumption. The motivation about the choice of variables with theory and empirical backing on the subject in the manuscript is the theory of Cobb- Douglas function and determinants of renewable energy consumption in the Asian countries. This paper investigates the nexus of electricity consumption, fossil fuel consumption, foreign direct investment inflows, economic growth, and renewable energy consumption in Asian countries. Utilizing panel data analysis, the study finds significant interrelationships among these factors and highlights their implications for energy policy and sustainable development in the region. This article aims to use the Cobb- Douglas Model to analyze the factors affecting renewable energy consumption at Asian developed countries for sustainable development goals. This study collected data from World Bank in the period 2000-2020 of 06 developed countries such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel and China. The empirical research results show that the electricity consumption, fossil fuel consumption, foreign direct investment inflows, economic growth affect the environmental pollution in 06 Asian developed countries. The electricity consumption, foreign direct investment inflows, economic growth positively affect to the renewable energy consumption. If the electricity consumption increases 1 % then the renewable energy consumption up 0.6 %; if the foreign direct investment inflows up 1 % then the renewable energy consumption up 0.82 %; If the economic growth up 1 % then renewable energy up 2.73 %. In addition, fossil fuel consumption negatively affects the renewable energy consumption. If the fossil fuel consumption increases 1 % then the renewable energy consumption down 0.26 %. There exists a high global concern in different nations on environmental sustainability especially at the focal stage of increased economic growth and development process due to high level of environmental degradation and pollution. The major aim of this study was to empirically examine how to minimise carbon emissions (CO2) in Malaysia which are mainly caused by energy production, fossil fuel consumption, population density and economic growth. The study adopted the method of autoregressive distributed lag bound testing approach to analyse the data for the period 1971-2011. The study found that economic growth in Malaysia has a direct relationship with CO2 emissions in both the short run and the long run. Similarly, there is a positive relationship between fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emissions over the same period. Population density was found to have positive impacts on CO2 emissions. Contrarily, the relationship between the activities of energy production and pollution is negative in the long run. The study recommends that a targeted GDP growth rate should be set with the consideration to avoid more environmental pollution. In addition, the positive impact of fossil fuel consumption on the environmental pollution implies that there is a need to make and implement policies that will encourage the use of public transportation system more than private transportations.
