Partial solid state reactivity and solid solution formation is induced by the mechanical treatment of A175Mo25.

X-ray and neutron diffraction studies of the mechanical alloying of the normally immiscible Cu50Fe50 alloy show that the mechanical process initially decreases crystal size of both the elements as a function of the milling time. Diffraction data reveal the formation of a single phase free solid solution after 16 hours of mechanical alloying. Mossbauer studies show two different environments for iron atoms in the single phase Cu50Fe50 alloy, and a small amount of gamma-iron. Differential scanning calorimetric studies of the annealing of single-phase Cu50Fe50 alloy reveal the decomposition forming FCC copper and both alpha- and gamma-iron allotropes.

The structural transformation of bulk samples prepared by mechanical alloying Fe-Al powders, mixed in the atomic ratio Fe/Al=3, was followed by using elastic energy dissipation and dynamic Young's modulus measurements, together with X-ray and energy dispersive analyses. Proper combinations of the mechanical treatments of the powders, with suitable temperature thermal aging, synthesizes a nanocrystalline bulk Fe3Al intermetallic phase. This stable phase is achieved by driving mechanisms and transformation paths, which are not usually seen in the simply thermally aged Fe-Al crystalline powders.

Molecular dynamics simulations of liquid water at various temperatures is reported. The autocorrelation functions of linear and angular velocities and of the first and second rank rotation matrices are studied and compared with previous data obtained using different potential models. The density dependence of the intensity of the CO2 Raman forbidden ν2 band (667.3 cm-1 ) has been studied in the CO2 –Ar and CO2 –Xe mixtures at 40 and 80 °C. The experimental results show that the band intensity increases linearly with density from 0.057 to 0.166 mol/cm3 which indicates that two-particle collisions dominate the scattering process. The intensity of the ν2 band is higher in the CO2 –Xe mixture than that in the CO2 –Ar mixture, and the experimental intensity ratio for the two mixtures is 2.2±0.2. The very good agreement between the experimental intensity ratio and the ratio calculated theoretically for the dipole–quadrupole (Aα) contribution to the collision induced scattering indicates that the Aα mechanism is responsible for the appearance of the forbidden band. An international partnership-based e-learning initiative called IMARK (Information Management Resource Kit) is providing a series of public domain training resources for information professionals. IMARK is based on a self-paced asynchronous pedagogical model, although the materials can be used to support face-to-face training in a blended learning approach, with a specific instructional design and production methodology, supported by sets of guidelines and a thorough peer-review process.
