The article presents information on the 20 hottest markets in the U.S. for selling in 2006. Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, with a diverse economy of technology, manufacturing, and service industries, leads the list. Dallas/Fort Worth International, the third-busiest airport in the world, allows local companies to do global business. Its highway/rail transportation infrastructure adds to the city's business benefits as well. Houston, Texas is second on the list. Clients reserve cars online or over the phone and pick them up from designated parking spots scattered throughout major cities. Most users pay hourly or daily rates, but frequent users can opt for fleet replacement with semi-exclusive or exclusive use of a car. After paying an initial setup fee, car sharers pay one rate based on use, which covers maintenance, insurance, gasoline, and parking. In some areas, Zipcars are available for as little as $40 a day. Users have access to sport utility vehicles, convertibles, hybrids, and even BMWs to impress clients. Companies often use a combination of cars and membership plans, says Lance Ayrault, CEO and president of Flexcar. As businesses grow, he sees them migrating to Flexcar over time.

The company has grown rapidly in the past year through a merger and several acquisitions. In July 2005, Cupertino, California-based Symantec merged with the storage software provider Veritas Software Corp., in a deal worth approximately $11 billion. The move enables Symantec to offer single-vendor solutions for security and storage needs by combining its line of antivirus products for businesses and consumers with Veritas storage software. Symantec acquired several companies post-merger, all specialists in antivirus, antiphishing, and security technology. It now boasts 5,300 employees and had $2.58 billion in total sales for the year ended in March, nearly half of which came from abroad. It ranks 792 on the 2005 Fortune 1000, and came in at 65 on Fortune's list of the 100 Fastest Growing Companies.

If he gives valuable advice, eventually he will have a steady stream of access to his prospects.

He began buying coffee four years ago at the Wildflower Bread Co. on Tuesday mornings, and recently added Starbucks to his weekly schedule. "At least a third" of his current clients met him at a coffee shop, he says. When Petz first started out selling financial services, his advisers suggested holding coffee clubs in his office, but he didn't want to go find a room and lock investors all up to make a presentation. That's too clinical, he says. Instead, he sits in bustling coffee shops where people are free to come and go without feeling pressured to buy anything.
