Origanum minutiflorum, an endemic species in Turkiye, is used for both food and medicinal purposes. 70% ethanol extract of aerial parts of O. minutiflorum was subjected to liquid-liquid extraction using; n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and n-butanol. The inhibitory activity of these fractions on lipoxygenase (LOX), cyclooxygenase (COX) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) was investigated at 100 µg/mL concentration. The LOX enzyme was most effectively inhibited by the dichloromethane fraction (82.33%), whereas the COX-1, COX-2 and MMP-9 enzymes were most effectively inhibited by the ethyl acetate fraction (78.50%, 83.96% and 45.11%, respectively). The ethyl acetate fraction was selected for activity-guided fractionation based on the COX enzymes’ inhibitory activities by column chromatography. Only the ethyl acetate sub-fraction-1 showed inhibition on the COX-1 with 65.78%. The COX-2 inhibitory activities of the sub-fractions ranged from 59.96% to 97.62%. The main components were determined by HPLC-MS/MS as jaceidine in the dichloromethane fraction and rosmarinic acid in the ethyl acetate fraction. As far as we know, this study is the first to correlate the anti-inflammatory activity of O. minutiflorum extracts with LOX, COX and MMP-9 enzyme pathways and their secondary metabolites. These data showed that O. minutiflorum may contribute to other studies on natural origin anti-inflammatory agents.

The genus Onosma L. (Boraginaceae) is represented in Turkey by 105 species (110 taxa), 53 of them and 1 variety are endemic for Turkey. Some species of Onosma are used as herbs, traditional medicine such as against burns, wounds and ailments (4,5). Hydrodistilled essential oils of the aerial parts of Onosma isaurica Boiss. & Heldr. And Onosma bulbotrichum DC. were analyzed by GC and GC-MS systems, simultaneously. The oil of O. isaurica contained hexahydrofarnesyl acetone (20.3%), phytol (19.0%), farnesyl acetone (8.1%) and neophytadiene isomer I/Tetradecanal (7.0%).as main constituents. The oil of O. bulbotrichum was characterized by the occurrence of hexahydrofarnesyl acetone (11.6%), farnesyl acetone (9.9%), hexadecanal (8.8%) E-geranyl acetone (7.4%) and neophytadiene isomer I (7.3%) as major components.

WOS: 000435102100003, The composition of the essential oil produced from aerial parts of Salvia montbretii Benth.(Lamiaceae), was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Forty-six compounds constituting about 97.7% of the essential oil were characterized. The main compounds were characterized as beta-caryophyllene (32.8%), beta-pinene (9.8%), alpha-humulene (8.2%), 12-hydroxy-beta-caryophyllene acetate (6.6%), germacrene D (4.9%) and alpha-pinene (4.5%).

The genus Scutellaria L. (Lamiaceae) is represented in Turkey by 16 species, 1 natural hybrid, 38 taxa, 16 being endemic in Turkey (1,2). Hydrodistilled essential oils of the aerial parts of Scutellaria altissima L. and Scutellaria orientalis L. subsp. pinnatifida Edmondson were analyzed by GC and GC-MS systems, simultaneously. The oil of S. altissima contained β-caryophyllene (34.7 %), caryophyll-5-en-12-al (14.4%), linalool (14.3%) and hexadecanoic acid (7.1%) as main constituents. The oil of S. orientalis L. subsp. pinnatifida was characterized by the occurrence of germacrene D (56.9%), β-caryophyllene (10.5%) and bicyclogermacrene (10.1%) as major components. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the GC and GC/MS determination of the essential oil composition of the S. altissima and S. orientalis subsp. pinnatifida species studied.

Face presentation is a rare kind of malpresentation that has an incidence between 1/600-1/800. The diagnose is made by vaginal examination and ultrasonography (US). Etiologically anencephaly, multiparity, contacted pelvis, small or large fetus, plasenta previa, polyhdramnios, uterin anomalies and nuchal cord are responsible factors. Mentum anterior face presentations can be delivered vaginally, however cesarean sectio is the preferred route for fetus presenting with mentum posterior. We aimed to present a case and review the litreture of a mentum posterior face presentation complicated with premature rupture of membranes (PROM) for 72 hours which has arrested in labour in a multiparous placenta previa pregnant., Yüz geliş, sık görülmeyen bir prezentasyon biçimi olup insidansı 1/600-1/800 arasındadır. Tanısı vajinal muayene ve ultrasonografi (USG) ile konur. Etyolojide anensefali, multiparite, kontrakte pelvis, büyük ve küçük fetüs, plasenta previa, polihidroamniyoz, uterin anomali ve nukkal kalınlık suçlanmaktadır. Doğum mentum posterior yüz gelişlerde sezaryen ile tercih edilirken, mentum anteriorda vajinal doğum denenebilir. Bu olguda plasenta previalı multipar gebede yaklaşık 72 saatlik membran rüptürü öyküsüyle doğum kanalında sıkışmış mentum posterior yüz geliş fetüse yaklaşımı ve sonuçlarını son literatür verilerine dayanarak sunmayı amaçladık.

Ülkemizde en sık kullanılan kontraseptif yöntem olan RİA’nın takılması sırasında veya kullanımında bazı komplikasyonlar görülebilmektedir. Bu komplikasyonlar arasında belkide en önemlisi, uterus perforasyonu ve RİA’nın uterin kavite dışına disloke olmasıdır. Nadir görülen uterus perforasyonunun tanısında pelvik USG ve x – ray grafinin birlikte kullanılması gerekir. Organ yaralanması durumuna ve cerrahın tecrübesine göre laparoskopi veya laparotomi tercih edilebilir. Bu çalışmada, intraabdominal RİA olgusunun laparoskopik çıkarımı tartışılacaktır
