The present Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) injection kicker magnets at the A5 location were designed for 1.5 GeV proton injection. Recent high intensity runs have pushed the transfer kinetic energy to 1.94 GeV, but with an imperfect matching in transverse phase space. Space charge forces result in both fast and slow beam size growth and beam loss. A proposed increase in the AGS injection energy to 2 GeV with adequate kick strength would greatly reduce the beam losses making it possible to increase the intensity from 70 TP (70*1012 protons/s) to 100 TP. RD the design goal is to achieve a field uniformity, for protons, of plusmn3% over 90% of the cross-sectional area of the aperture. TRIUMF has proposed a design for a 12.5 Omega transmission line kicker magnet powered by a matched 12.5 Omega pulse forming line. This paper presents the results of detailed 2D and 3D electromagnetic modeling of the kicker magnet, and a novel mathematical model of the kicker

The mean life of the positive muon has been measured to a precision of 11 ppm using a low-energy, pulsed muon beam stopped in a ferromagnetic target, which was surrounded by a scintillator detector array. The result, tau_mu = 2.197013(24) us, is in excellent agreement with the previous world average. The new world average tau_mu = 2.197019(21) us determines the Fermi constant G_F = 1.166371(6) x 10^-5 GeV^-2 (5 ppm). Additionally, the precision measurement of the positive muon lifetime is needed to determine the nucleon pseudoscalar coupling g_P., As published version (PRL, July 2007)

Calculations are described which allow for the measurement of the tensor polarization of a polarized deuterium target which has a distribution of spins. The tensor polarization can be determined uniquely providing a careful measurement of the vector polarization is made by the TE method and an accurate determination is made of the asymmetry of the NMR spectrum. The correct value for the average tensor polarization is between the value obtained from the TE method and that obtained from the asymmetry method.

Measurements of the vector analyzing power iT11 in πd elastic scattering at 49 MeV have been performed using a dynamically polarized target and a magnetic spectrometer. Data at seven π+ laboratory scattering angles between 50° and 130° were taken together with a complementary measurement at 60° for π-d elastic scattering. In general, we find agreement with models that include the πN P11 amplitude and disagreement with models that exclude or suppress it.

Measurements of the vector analyzing power iT11 in π+d elastic scattering at 50 MeV have been made at pion laboratory scattering angles between 60° and 130° using a dynamically polarized target and a magnetic spectrometer. In contrast to measurements of spin observables at higher energies, we find agreement with models that include the πN P11 amplitude and disagreement with models that exclude or suppress it.
